761  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: November 16, 2015, 07:55:39 AM
I don't see anything above that looks worrisome, except for the Firmware revision. Yours shows 2.6.1, while I am sure that 2.6.14 was released during March/April of 2015.

If you are looking to get closer to the 165W limit for each loop, you'll likely need to up the max voltage a bit. You also need to give the SP20 at least 15 minutes or more for it to steady out in terms of it's final voltage and frequency that can be accommodated by the voltage and power limits. At the settings you have here, you can also reduce the fan speed if you want. That will save a bit on power and reduce the noise.
762  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: what will happen in 37 weeks when bitcoin halves again on: November 13, 2015, 07:44:12 PM
My simplistic prediction is that after the halving, the network will produce about 1800 Bitcoins per day......  Smiley
763  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: November 11, 2015, 05:47:28 PM
From where can I purchase this?

from marketplace here or ebay, sold out on bitmaintech.com
will come back soon, most likely

Most likely with it priced in dollars and NOT a fixed BTC price. It could even be just more of Batch 6 with a pricing change.
764  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer Batches? on: November 10, 2015, 11:21:18 PM
S7 power 4.86 th / s = $ 1,658?
s7 power 4,05 th / s = $ 1,518?

We talk less chip, less power, less costs

S7 4.05 TH / s = $1,340 just now.  Considerably less $/THs than B5 now.  That's what happens when you keep your eyes open and your mouth shut.

And when Bitmain pegs the price to BTC rather than $$$, and then the price of BTC falls.
765  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer Batches? on: November 10, 2015, 03:03:00 AM
Batch 6 WILL be worse efficiency, as they're running it at a higher voltage. My best guess is more like 0.3W/GH vs the 0.25 spec on the earlier batches.

Do we actually know they're using shorter chains in this smaller one?

Actually I think we do know. My understanding is that Bitmain has stated that there will be a total of 135 chips for the miner. That works out to 45 chips/board, and then 15 chips per "string/chain". I guess it's possible that there is some other arrangement that yields 135, but hard to see what it would be. The specs for Batch #6 aren't really internally consistent with the other batches, so some of it is guesswork, but educated if you use a little match.
766  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will bitmain do another Antminer C ? on: November 08, 2015, 04:12:49 AM
try the ''c2'', 2*s5 in the place of the s3 blades....
got 3 in the house atm, and i'm very happy!

there was also an spondoolies related water cooled product, something with edge. google it or search the hardware section

My recollection about the water cooled Spondoolies  "product" is that it was being produced by somebody else, to do the packaging and cooling. I don't think it ever actually got beyond the prototype stage before they realized their market time was poor. I don't know what happened to them, but I would NOT be looking for any water cooled Spondoolies product anytime soon, if ever.
767  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: November 05, 2015, 06:40:19 AM
If your pool starts to "overflow", I could sit out a round for someone else to participate.

Just let me know.
768  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are open!! With a bonus reward. on: November 04, 2015, 11:58:02 PM
my error.  if you win I will pay you and suchmoon will pay alh

Thanks, Phil, but now I will feel bad if I win.  Cry

Well maybe not too bad, seeing as you split that block solve 3-ways and have a bit of pocket change right now, lol.

Price certainly took a big dive this afternoon/evening as people cash in on the >$460 price.  I see $394 right now, hopefully ~$400 will be the new norm and we can build from there.  There's going to be a lot of disappointed people if we fall all the way back to the mid-200s.

Don't feel bad yet, you/I/we haven't won yet. It's all moot until then.  Smiley

In addition to the selling caused by the high price, there is ongoing sales of BTC that are just not optional. Bitmain must sell at least 100  coins each day to pay suppliers, workers, electric bill, and so forth.

We should expect that there will be "resistance" levels where the price brings out many seller. $500 is urely one of those points.
770  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are open!! With a bonus reward. on: November 04, 2015, 06:26:40 AM
If I am not too late:

+7.76% to +8.00% alh
771  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Connecting Three AntMiner S7's to one Controller on: November 02, 2015, 08:10:32 AM
I think that the original Batch #1 S7 firmware did support 9 boards, but the latest firmware limited it to 6 boards.. That may be faulty recollection on my part. Obviously there were, or still are, plans to support 9 boards, or there wouldn't be 9 hashing board connectors.
772  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread oct 29th to Nov 12th picks are closed!! With a bonus reward. on: October 30, 2015, 07:06:32 AM
While I know this thread is for difficulty changes, and picks remain closed, I just have to comment:

BTCquote price presently shows $326!!!

This is stunning in my opinion. Clearly over the last 60 days, BTC price increases have outpaced difficulty increases. This is a huge surprise compared to the previous year.

I have to think this will lure some latent mining hardware to restart as they might now turn a running profit, even if not really ROI more.
773  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: October 29, 2015, 11:47:31 PM
Yeah I could sell the blades but I would like to mine with it ;-)

PM me if you decide to sell it - one of mine is having blade trouble.......

Can anyone tell me which pci power connector corresponds to which loop? I know I've seen a picture somewhere on the forum, but can't find it  Tongue

You might find it quicker to just conduct the experiment of disconnecting a PCIe plu and then powering it on and observe the result. I expect one of the loops also has to power the controller board.
774  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining on Rapberry PI on: October 28, 2015, 05:23:31 PM
Hello everybody:)

Knowing that the raspberry pi only supports USB 2.0 hub (and not 3.0), i was wondering if this limitation would impact the mining performances...

Cheers,

Jeff.

No, the actual data transfer over the USB port is small. It could probably be handled with USB 1.1. USB 3.0 is complete overkill in terms of transfer rate.
775  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 28, 2015, 05:21:36 PM
Question for S7 -
Bitmain says all three PCIe connectors on each board must be attached.  Does anyone know if miner will work with one open on a board?  In other words is this a hard and fast rule or is this for ideal performance?

I think it's unlikely anybody will publicly state that you can get by with two connections. Anecdotal information suggests that two will allow proper operation most of the time. All three are required to preserve warranty. If you only do two and one of them discolors or melts, then you'll probably be screwed as to warranty.

Also remember that with only two, they need to be high quality cables and connectors. Downclocking is also an option.

As usual, do it at your own risk.
776  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: rumors of 3.5Th antminer S7 "lite" on: October 28, 2015, 04:57:24 PM
Ooooh this would be awesome!!!!

$1000 might still be out of the price range :S, Sad, but who knows maybe not when I get bonous.
I hope it is at 1000$ and not more, I would be pretty psyched about that.

If the S6 number of $1300 for 3.65 TH is correct, $1000 likely won't be in the cards. Unless of course Bitmain has "too many S7" sitting around (highly unlikely IMHO).
777  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Hardware Prospects for 2015-2016 Mining on: October 28, 2015, 04:43:48 PM
We have a price and semi-hard stats for the Avalon 6 now.
$1300, 3.65 TH, power works out to almost exactly 1100 watts with a 90% PS (spec is .29 watts/GH with a 93% PS).
It's a non-starter IMO, higher per TH than the S7 by a bit for a bit worse efficiency.
About the only way they are going to sell these is
 (1) Bitmain keeps having "out of stock" on the S7
 (2) Some folks prefer Avalon for historical or past experience reasons

Did my current standard assumptions RoI calculation on both at 3c/KWH - the S7 hits RoI almost a month sooner, *IF* you can get one ordered today and if the November 10 date on the Avalon is an actual ship date.

Looks like I'm still waiting for the Lketc/BW.com and potential but no announcment Innosilicon miners.

Thanks for the update. It may well prompt Bitmain to produce an "S7 Lite" or something like that. That may be good for some folks that balked at the current S7's price/loudness/power/heat profile. If your figures are right, then it doesn't look like it will put any pressure on Bitmain to reduce $$$/TH (which is too bad).
778  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntRouter R1: 1st wireless networking device with bitcoin mining chip on: October 25, 2015, 05:50:36 AM
Somebody with an R1 should check to see if  /usr/bin/cgminer-monitor is a real program, or just some kind of script. If it's a script, it might provide some useful guidance to folks with U3's on how to "work around" the zombie issue. While they might still go zombie, maybe the "hand holding" could be reduced.

Leaving aside the BM1384 Bitcoin ASIC, is there anything that makes the R1 superior to most other Wifi bridge device, such as:
