Cool work. I really like the blue one.

I advocate for tying the max amount of MNs to the coinsupply:
Max MN = (total coinsupply)/ 2880.

A while ago I remember there being a discussion about limiting one MN to one IP (or server)... what's the latest on that?

You can't limit one SN to one IP.
Nobody can know if your server is really running on one IP as a single instance or running as one of hundred virtual machines in a cloud.
Also, your SN will never be required to be visible thru an IP, the SNs IP is not important since it's not broadcast anyway.

With that in mind, coming back to your question:
to prevent people from running multiple SNs (servicenodes) on a server, you will need to run services (on those servicenodes) that have a high load on the server CPU / RAM / HDisk...
this will make running multiple SNs on a server problematic, and encourage the spreading of SNs over multiple Servers (and be it only virtual ones)

For this to work we will need a sophisticated valuation system that gives the best servers the best score, and the worst servers the worst score.

That's the tricky part.

Or you could avoid all this pointless and impractical nonsense and just have a fixed collateral cost, and let market forces sort the numbers out. Spread MNs would be up and running on mainnet with IX far faster.

"Pointless and impractical nonsense" is not a valid counterargument.
If you need fixed collateral cost go to Darkcoin/Dash/whatever if will be called tomorrow.

Spreadcoin will go its unique way, following the principles of true decentralization, enabling competition and easy entry for everybody.

Stay tuned.

Looking at spreadcointalk and it appears SPR really could be one of tge select few coins that a community takeover may prevail. Fingers crossed.

Right now Im at approximately at 5 btc loss.
As stated before I will hold indefinitely.
The code IMO is worth what I invested.
1 sat and delisted or a turnaround and profit at this point it's all the same.

Dont spend more than you can afford to lose. Don't be surprised if you're investment tanks. Stay true to what you believe is right. And at the the end of the day, always have a giggle.
769  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) | Testing New Masternodes on: February 24, 2015, 02:38:47 PM
Anyone who would sell their stake in this code for a penny a piece IMO must truly be oblivious to what good work looks like. I donr care if there was no dev for six months, absolute insanity.

Lol!!!!  Dead coin!!!!! Community bleeding to death!!!!!! Fucking scammers!

That's all sorts of Bullshit.  I have opinions but calling Mr. Spread a scammer, as of now, is the biggest pile of shit I can imagine.  I have no idea why he hasn't communicated and at this point I don't care.  This coin was started in July last year...and there is nothing here that makes me believe that this was a long con.

I lost more than a few BTC on this and I am okay with it - I never invest more than I can lose (and I am just below even here).  But this wasn't a scam.  Mr. Spread - for whatever reason he is not communicative - is a stout dev and actually has relevant code here. It's not scam code and the price isn't going anywhere without him so I am pretty sure that he isn't cashing out.

So...pretty much, kindly eff off with your less than rudimentary assessment of the situation...

Cheers...Smiley

Most sensible post Ive seen in days.

To be honest if I had the same skill set as a top dev with my mentality this is exactly what I would do. In three days you could have accumulated a huge amount of your SPR from weak hands. Who knows... In the next week holders, like myself, will either go down with another sinking ship or congratulate our rationality and move forward. As I've stated before I really hope this project continues the momentum it's had and Mr. Spread returns. If not this really is a shame.

Even if he doesn't return i'm not terribly worried. There is so much talk on Spreadcoin.net right now. Several of the guys are trying to pick the project up themselves and run with it. If Mr. Spread doesn't return it sounds like the coin might be even better for it.

Losing Mr. Spread would be quite the blow. It could potentially recover but it would not be quick or smooth.

Also still waiting. Why abandon after putting so much effort in SPR. There's so many other options to deviously create profits in cryptographic currency. The return doesn't equal the time on task IMO.

I envy that buy at 1100 for 20000+ SPR and Im kicking myself in the ass for not being more liquid.

Have it from a trusted source now that Mr. Spread will reemerge within 24 hours....

that smells like pump. dump. run.

+100

So, lets get the popcorn out and wait 24hrs.

This is going to be interesting. Especially the pools situation  Wink

OCMiner is gonna get it for sure  Grin

I'm not following you coins. OCMiner is going to "get it" as in he'll fully understand what's happened to Mr Spread because of his (OCMiner's) previous posting about using SSL to protect miners' private keys so they can operate in a pool (on this "no pools" coin) or he's going to "get it" as in everyone's going to beat him up for his postings that have driven Mr Spread away (or some other notion)? Can you articulate what you're saying a bit further?

(I'm not getting the popcorn out as I don't think there's much to see. It's likely all over at this point)

Huh ? Why should I be responsible for that ??

The pool for SPR was a fun-project, a "Proof of Concept" as it was stated this coin "cannot have pools" which made it interesting to fiddle around with..

I doubt anyone really believed that this "no pool concept" was more than just marketing, as there were already many private pools, even my pool ran a long time in testing-mode and found a lot (!) of blocks (worth over 5000 SPR) and no one ever noticed - not the charts, not the users, nobody..

A coin as a copy, like SPR from DRK, can never be so good like the original without "own" additions/modifications. Spreadnodes might be the start.

So don't blame me for the price going down over the last days since the pool was announced or Mr.Spread being away, I'm sure it has nothing todo with that.

Ive been a believer in the Spreadcoin project sense the first day I read the forum. Im still holding strong, just not driving myself crazy looking at the market every 15 mins like 'oh God', and I appreciate you looking for ways to test spreadcoins legitimacy. Ignore all Nay Sayers my man.

Even with the built in CPU miner you still would solve a block in under 20 days. Not saying that worth it, but when a CPU represents any part of the total hash rate....Hash rate is still low lol
