Hi! I would like to know, which RX 480 models are O.K for mining? There are large differences in prices in our country, for instance Gigabyte RX 480 4GB G1 Gaming costs 230 Euros, while the Sapphire nitro+ 8GB costs 300+ Is there a big difference in 4 or 8 Gb ram? The price is quite high with 8 gigs and i dont know if its realy worth it? Anyway, the Gigabyte G1 models are the cheapest among 4 and 8 gig models, is this a good one? Thanks for the help guys  RX 480 with 8gb of RAM does have a bit faster memory speed, but since price difference in your country is that high I would say to go for 4gb since performance increase isn't really worth it. About cooling, Nitro cards have better cooling but again, since price difference is 70 euro just go for G1 |

so i dont want to be a millionaire, its just for fun that i would like to try this out. Maybe even donate CPU / GPU to BOINC projects as well in the future.
Im definitely not a rich person , but i would like to get a GPU to start mining and understanding learning.
I currently have a GTX650 , but i was considering getting a decent Radeon instead of nVidia.
So i was thinking to get a RX 460 card ? is this silly or should i just get a better card like a RX 480.
I see for the RX 480 there is a 4gb version and a 8 gb version, is there much of a muchness?

Unsure if the rest of my system is important in terms of specification, but i have just come from the world of Socket 462 AMD Athlon 2500+; AGP 7800 ; and DDR1 ram , so this is completely new to me.

Currently the best card for mining would be RX 470, but if price difference in your country is not too high between RX 470 and RX 480, only then go for 480. Otherwise, price difference does not justify performance upgrade |

What he means by that is that Scrypt algorithm is now mined primarily with ASIC miners and that makes gpu mining no longer profitable for coins like Bitcoin, Litecoin...

Never trust any site that can hold your private key. Even if they are legit (btw Bitcoinvanitygen.com is scam) they can still be hacked and if they hold any records of your wallet private key, your funds will be stolen
I wonder why OP would want to have a custom bitcoin address at the risk of losing funds to scammers. I'm still using Web wallet for storing my bitcoins temporarily. The funds I stored here are minor funds and These are funds I can afford to lose. We can't really trust web wallets and services. It's because they find it cool to have an address with their preferred name at front, plus it can take a significant amount of time when doing it themselves, so they refer to certain sites for the sake of easiness. Major negative aspect of these sites are that they can keep a log of your private keys. That's why I don't understand why they expose themselves to so much risk, just for a flashy address. Either do it yourself, or simply skip these sites. I am however not sure what you making use of web wallets has to do with a custom Bitcoin address? Sites creating custom addresses are not wallet services. Totally not true. Custom addresses are cool and if you want to create them yourself it usually takes less then a minute. For my address 1ECKMARko7DFtJ2YVrBeAc9s23xdAMV4eT it took about minute or two to create. And after that if you want you can import it in web wallet or whatever... I am obviously talking about more difficult combinations. In some cases it could take weeks/months in order to get your desired prefix due to the difficulty. In that matter having a flashy address doesn't outweigh the negative aspects. But hey, if people want to proceed anyway, then it's up to them. You are again wrong. If you have too much HDD space, it may make sense. Otherwise, HDD mining is not very logical.
Burst or other similar coin prices are very low. It would be more logical to buy and trade directly instead of mining for them.
Exactly. If you like the coin invest 15$ in it. It's not much and you will have more coins than what you will get from mining it for about 1-1.5 years. I really wish HDD mining is a viable option |

It is possible, I have set of sapphire rx 470 4GB which I bought about month ago and they have different bios compared to the ones I bought a one or so earlier. The difference was with memory straps set at different location in the bios.
First time I head about it. Every time I wanted to flash bios on two cards with same memory (and same model of course) it worked just fine without creating bios for every single card independently |

In my opinion Storj is much better project in terms of use case. But if you want only to mine and sell coins it is much better to choose Burst. Storj mining doesn't give you a lot of coins, so it is not very profitable. But with Burst you can get a lot of coins every week.
If Storj mining does not make a lot of money, why is the price higher than the burst. Miners don't dictate the price of coin. It's traders who make price go up and down. People see more potential in STORJ so they invested in that coin making price higher. About mining, STORJ does not have any public mining calculator so no one is really sure what you will earn. There was a blog post by them before, and if it's still accurate BURST is more profitable for miners |

Everyone have their 'best' driver version, but what I can tell you from personal experience is that always go for newest drivers. I never had any driver problem and haven't noticed any performance drop if you go for newest drivers (especially for RX cards)

Looking at your temperatures you should be fine and what you should do is overclock your card a bit. ROG cards got good cooling i'm sure they can take it. Also I hope you did not buy this card only for mining since it would be just waste of money...

I'm getting $5.50 or so per month over the last three months for 500GB. I don't really understand how is that possible with 500GB. Everything they said and I read online you need about 10TB in order to earn what you are earning now (about 5$ per month) |

Radeon 7970,7990 and even a 6990 would be great if you can find them in good condition.
There are tons of Antminer S7s on ebay that include the PSU which are great deals in your situation.
Or you can even get an S5 if you can find them for ~100 bucks, much more rare though.
I wouldn't recommend him 6990 or s5. I mean something like 7990 or s7 is going to be pretty hard to sell after he's done with it, going for even older hardware would be just stupid at this point |
