7601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let's hear it from the leaders themselves! on: July 24, 2019, 01:21:50 PM
The compilation is indeed interesting. Still, make sure you don't forget that they are politicians, meaning that what they say is not necessarily what they mean or what they'll do. Some things are said only for image, some others (like Trump) have to give the businesses the feeling that the fiat is still strong and the one that matters.

This is enough to get my thoughts together and be reminded that 9 out of 10 statements coming from a politician are either not meant or meant to please some sponsor. But this I cannot say with Trump's. The man seems to speak whatever in his mind. However, the words coming out seem to say that the mind is not so beautiful either.

Quote
The important part is that they do talk about this.

And this is enough to at least make the people feel that blockchain or Bitcoin is valuable enough to be given a word by their leader, albeit hollow. Because whether we admit it or not, the words coming from our leaders seem to carry some weight.

Dota 2 used to be famous a few years ago but I don't know if it is the case anymore now as its popularity has dropped.I remember when people used to play all the time back then and there were many fans watching. It should be a beautiful event this one although I doubt the followers will be numerous as they used to be a few years ago.
Probably other game really famous because only a hype game, example like Fortnite went they are on number 1 spotlight game and after Apex Legend rilis to the public all fortnite player change to apex legend but if you see bot of this game seems like the hype already down. Dota its still Dota, you can check the player online always around 500-600K Player each days and we always have unique player each days.

Dota 2 is still enjoying a solid body of fans. The prize pool for this 9th TI speaks for it. It is above 30 million USD already and growing. It is higher than Fortnite World Cup's prize pool. This means that The International remains the largest esports event to date.

Thanks for share this OP. On past i play a lot DOTA and win some national tournaments but over time i didn't have time for games and also i didn't play DOTA 2 but on past year a lot of friends play it and was very popular on past , anyway i wish good luck to all teams who will play.

No problem, mate! I just want to add a little topic to discuss on this section. I know there are a good number of TI or Dota 2 followers here. By the way, I'm sure you are a monster in Dota 2 considering that you have won national tournaments. Which country are you from?

I hope sportsbet would list the games a little earlier than before so that we could see the odds and place our bets earlier as well.

Not all.
Why? Not all off topic comments are irrelevant. Ang iba ay mayroong saysay at may silbi kumpara sa ibang komento kahit na ito ay off topic.

I sometimes do this, whenever I feel like doing it,... (Trolling)

This may be your personal idea. But as far as my own interpretation is concerned off-topic=irrelevant=nonconstructive.

Here is what the Global Moderator mprep has to say as regards off-topic posts:

2. No off-topic posts.

Meanwhile, another Global Moderator has this advice:

Before you post in a thread I would ask yourself is this really helpful or constructive...?

I guess a troll post is not.

And most importantly, Theymos, an administrator of this forum, is very clear about off-topics:

Off-topic replies have become a big problem. From now on, I will be deleting such replies without notice, forum-wide. If your replies disappear, this is probably why.

All replies must respond to the topic's original post in some way, even if they are replying to an on-topic reply. If your reply has nothing to do with the topic post, either add some content that is relevant or create a new topic.

Please report off-topic posts as soon as you see them.

I'm rooting for three teams: LGD, Team Secret or Virtus Pro to take TI9's aegis. Any of these teams has high chance to become the champs.

The prize pool may even increase for few more weeks.

According to the latest DPC points, the top is Team Secret and the second spot is taken by Virtus Pro. And so they are the favorites, so to speak. However, if you take into consideration the track record of Team Secret, the famous avengers-like team, not once did it even reach the finals however favorite they appear to be for the fans. Let us see how they will fare this year. This is going to be exciting!

The prize pool is indeed dumbfounding even at this current amount!

7609  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Anong masasabi nyu tungkol sa LIVECOIN EXCHANGE? on: July 23, 2019, 07:26:54 AM
I don't consider Livecoin as scammer! I have been using Livecoin and never have I had any issues with them. I have been following the issue a little closely but I don't need to talk, of course. The thread is already full to the brim of brilliant minds.

I am with the opinion of nutildah on this issue.

OK, so a guy has a problem with an exchange in 2018, and shows up over a year later to demand his funds - something he had given up pursuing for one reason or another - now that BTC has risen back out of its slump. Livecoin collects between $50k and $90k per day in trading fees. Seems to me like if they believed they were at fault, they would simply compensate this user for their losses, which is a comparatively small amount of money.

The only reason they are not giving in to the user's demands is because they believe he is in the wrong and they are in the right. And according to their Terms of Service (like them or hate them), they are right. Should the language in their ToS be updated to sound like they are not looking for reasons to with-hold user funds? Absolutely, I don't disagree with that part.

Livecoin was one of the first exchanges to notify Monacoin of the selfish miner attack, posting this in the Monacoin thread a full 2 days before Monacoin acknowledged the attack:

Hello.
We're Livecoin Exchange, we're looking for contact of Monacoin developers. We have an urgent issue to discuss with them. It seems a security breach in Monacoin blockchain have taken place a few hours ago. We're hope to be wrong.

The "selfish miner" sent a bunch of bogus coins to the Livecoin exchange (as well as Bittrex and a couple others) and cashed them out for BTC. (BTW, this fraudulent chain of Monacoin is what Livecoin has been referring to as a "trash asset" -- not the real Monacoin itself). Livecoin then issued the following statement in the aftermath:

Statement from Livecoin is out....

"Dear clients, as you all know, MONA network has been attacked recently, and all the exchanges suffered at some point due to fake incoming transactions. The fact of attack has been publicly acknowledged by the developers.
We contacted the developers several times on the issues concerning the cancellation of fake transactions or providing compensations for the losses sustained by the exchanges as a result of the hackers' attack on MONA blockchain. Today we got an answer: the developers won't take any actions. We, in our turn, have nothing to do than keep MONA deposit/withdrawal closed, in accordance with the terms of services providing. If the developers of MONA will ever take steps to cover the losses, incurred by the attack on the blockchain, we would be glad to make this asset available again. If you want to influence the situation somehow, please, send collective claims to MONA developers."

https://www.livecoin.net/news/view/719?lang=en

Deposits and withdrawals of MONA to Livecoin have been suspended since. They supposedly lost around $90k worth of other coins (probably mostly BTC) to the attacker.

I think I can explain why they left the bogus chain "trash asset" up for trade -- they didn't want to just leave their MONA holders with nothing, and perhaps they maintained hope they would someday be reimbursed by the Monacoin devs in the form of MONA, which they could then distribute to their holders.

I suppose the best solution would have been to purchase MONA from elsewhere and recompensate their holders that way, but again, Livecoin firmly felt they were in the right and had not violated their end of the agreement with their users, pointing to clauses denying themselves of liability in the case of "malfunctioning software."

For a long time Poloniex left BitcoinDark (BTCD) on their exchange available for trading, for over a year after it had stopped being mined. There was no way to move it in or out of the exchange, as the project's devs were absorbed by Komodo, yet Poloniex didn't feel the need to disable trading for it, even though it was an utterly useless asset.

My verdict/opinion: they should re-enable the user's account, allow him to sell his "trash asset" version of MONA on the exchange, and take his BTC proceeds off the exchange (0.08 BTC + the converted MONA). Then, bar the user from making future deposits of any sort, effectively closing his account.

Before you burn me, Hhampuz, and everybody else involved at the stake, just stop to take a couple of things into consideration:

- OP is but 1 man representing himself. There have been relatively few complaints against this exchange, and as its been open since 2014, its reputation shouldn't be destroyed over 1 incident. If you want to see what a real scam accusation thread against an exchange that probably is scamming its customers looks like, I invite you to check out the BiteBTC scam accusation thread.

- I highly doubt OP wrote the OP. It looks like he definitely had coaching, and while that does not change the facts, it suggests that his cause may have been furthered by those with ulterior motives. The fact that the usual parties are using this as an excuse to jump down Hhampuz's throat and are hyping the affair as a much bigger calamity than it actually is is hard to ignore.

So what? His trust rating is representative of his personal experience with the exchange. They were a good client to deal with from Hhampuz's point of view. [...]
Here is the description of a positive rating:
Quote from:
Positive - You think that this person is unlikely to scam anyone.
Having a positive trading experience does not appear to be sufficient to warrant a positive rating, according to the above description. When you leave a positive rating, you are saying the person is unlikely to scam anyone.

When it comes to handling campaign-related BTC, Livecoin never scammed anybody. Besides, what Livecoin did wasn't a scam. They weren't out to cheat their customers out of money. They got targeted during a 51% attack (no other exchange was targeted) and then decided their terms rendered them not liable for the losses incurred. You can play lawyer all day long that their terms are illegal but until a court of law rules otherwise, you really don't know.

Again, show me a perfect exchange which has never lost any of their customers funds, ever. Show me an exchange with a 100% customer satisfaction rate.

I can't speak for Hhampuz but I firmly believe Livecoin is unlikely to "scam" anyone. If you held MONA or XMR, yes you got fucked, but the way in which events unfolded leads me to believe this isn't a "scam exchange."

This whole thing was blown way out of proportion and has obviously become something of a witch hunt. Its pretty lame.

And finally,

Quote
...the whole witch hunt against Livecoin just seems to be an excuse for people to cast judgment on others. Lame.

Honestly, I can sense that the complainant on this particular issue is problematic.

...because he believes he would get the same results.

As much as I want Manny to win if ever they will meet again inside the ring, I think I agree with Mayweather here. The performance that Manny has shown in his bout with Thurman may be amazing, with a knockdown even, but I can see an old Manny in there. I didn't see the hunger for a knockout after he saw Thurman standing back after the knockdown. With that performance, I am afraid he won't be able to equal Mayweather's athleticism, especially agility.

7612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: You cannot win in gambling on: July 23, 2019, 04:28:29 AM
Now I am not an expert in gambling but this day was a really eye opener for me, you can never win in gambling. Imagine when you can't win in lotto , soccer betting or whatever you call it, you don't have a chance in slots.

To be fair, gambling is too broad a term nowadays. We cannot generalize gambling as if all gambling games can be categorized as one. I mean, I cannot classify dice as the same as a game of poker. They are obviously two different bananas. In the same manner that you cannot classify gambling on a lotto and gambling on a soccer game as one.

The huge difference is that the other one is purely based on luck while the other could be won based on skills, or perhaps based on a brilliant analysis. Gambling on a slot machine is definitely a world different from gambling on a game between Roma and Brondby on Italian Serie A.

Perhaps you are just having an unlucky day, mate. There are always better days ahead.
The better day comes out of luck, and the skills make way to be luck. Sometimes out of fate even after getting close to luck things go out of track. This happens often, and most of the gamblers could've experienced it. Dice, poker and other forms of gambling vary with the requirements, but those too has dependence over luck. Skills were the base and luck is the concluding factor.

Well, I won't have to argue with you here. Gambling is really based on luck to a significant extent. But I would not be putting skill off as a major factor especially if we talk of poker, for example. As I have pointed out in another post days before, a 3 and 9 in your hands could actually bust a pair of aces. And a bettor who constantly monitors the players' skills, condition, chemistry, etc. is bound to win more than the one who just looks at which teams are playing.
7613  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus Wallet for Iphone on: July 23, 2019, 02:23:55 AM
Thanks for all your 2 cents!  Smiley

It seems Coinomi is the preferred choice here. This is duly noted!

It's worth mentioning that these multi-coin wallets are closed source. Therefore there is a lack of transparency. So, just use them for small amounts otherwise go with hardware wallets.

This is the same issue that was raised on the old thread that I mentioned in the OP. But if there is no feedback of lost funds, I won't mind using it. After all, even Coinomi is closed source. Anyway, I will only have small funds stored here as this is not my main wallet.

Can you tell us your intentions with this mobile wallet in the first place? Is it to store all your coins? If so, and if your coins has significant value, then don't. Grabbing a hardware wallet might be the best move. If you're just going to use this as a hot wallet, then go with it. Just don't use it to hold significant amounts.

Noted! I am just after a much cheaper and faster way to send or receive small amounts.

Again, thank you all!

7616  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Exodus Wallet for Iphone on: July 22, 2019, 03:04:47 PM
I just want to hear some advice and actual experiences about using Exodus wallet with iphone.

There is this existing thread already (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2639970.0) about Exodus wallet and I can say that the feedback appears to be generally great. However, they are mainly discussing about the web wallet. And the last post was made more than a year ago. There must have been more recent experiences since then.

The reason I want to use Exodus is that:

  • I am normally mobile so a smart phone is the most convenient way to manage my wallet.
  • I want to use a wallet that supports a SegWit address.
  • There is no Electrum mobile wallet for iphone. (Am I right?)
  • I need a wallet where I can store altcoins as well.

Thank you in advance!

The story of his life was very interesting that he was motivate to won the lottery because his job have low salary which mean he seeking another solution to get rich and calculated every possibility to won the lottery and i have to admit he was very genius on math and probably in today age we won't see again math genius break new algorithm to won the lottery moreover the current lottery system more sophisticated than several decades ago

This man is exceptional. One in a million. In fact, I admire this man a thousand times more than the card readers from MIT, who are also geniuses in their own respect, because he was not a product of any Ivy League school nor in a particular lot in life in which he can indulge himself in arithmetic without having to think of other more important things. This man is a natural genius!

This brought me to Google for a while and tried to read more about it. When I first read the OP, I though this is some kind of a controversy that is not purely out of sheer genius but basically one that is linked to someone inside the lottery system, in other words an inside job.

This is what I learned though:
  • He indeed won all those lotteries but not just 12 times but 14 times.
  • He was not really a mathematician by profession. He was described as a "weekend mathematician," and even a mere "accountant without too much education.” I was amazed more.

Anyway, if anyone is curious enough to see how the genius looks like, here is a pic I got from the second source I indicated below.
