7621  Other / Off-topic / Re: [Space Exploration] Elon Musk to walk on mars? on: May 01, 2013, 09:39:41 PM
I think what would be more interesting is using asteroid mining to fund huge space projects and using all that space we have in outer space to farm massive amounts of food, think of all the things we could do with that and the people we could help, fuck Mars, it's an irrelevant ball of iron dust.
7622  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-05-01 Forbes: Living on Bitcoins for a week: the journey begins on: May 01, 2013, 09:27:11 PM
It would depend on what country she is from and what bank she is with and so on.
7623  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin price down, but why? on: May 01, 2013, 08:03:44 PM
You guys really need to stop worrying about every little price movement Bitcoin makes and be glad it's above £50/$70.
7624  Other / Off-topic / Re: Legal Tender in UK? on: May 01, 2013, 07:53:37 PM
That's genius! LOL Cheesy
7625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Bitcoin Folks: Ask Your Congressperson to Advocate for Bitcoin on: May 01, 2013, 04:41:00 PM
Probably more effective to ask if you can contribute to their campaign using Bitcoin.

They like getting money.

Or bribe them in bitcoin.  Grin
No, don't do that.

It really would make my day if a politician, particularly one publicly against Bitcoin took Bitcoin as a bribe Cheesy
7626  Other / Off-topic / Re: Why is the bitcoin community filled with scumbags? on: May 01, 2013, 04:36:46 PM
There are lots of people here and where there are lots of people there are always a few scumbags skulking around, I use the ignore function on them though and you'll find when you do everyone else is great.
7627  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Preferred Web Hosts Who Accept Bitcoins on: May 01, 2013, 04:33:39 PM
http://www.synwebhost.com/ < Using this one myself, they've had a bit of trouble with DDoS attacks but seem to have fixed things up now these guys don't have many rules about what you can and can't host on their servers.
7628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Bitcoin Folks: Ask Your Congressperson to Advocate for Bitcoin on: May 01, 2013, 04:32:48 PM
I will never understand why you americans like to give money to politicians.

I hope you're not one of those people who think this sort of thing only happens in America Tongue
7629  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Give Two Dollars Worth Of Bitcoins, Get Suprise Ebook (Also, PDF Question) on: May 01, 2013, 12:27:27 PM
Or...buy it from the people who learned their profession to produce it?

If whatever is being downloaded is worth it, people will buy it anyway Tongue but that's a whole different debate really.
7630  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Give Two Dollars Worth Of Bitcoins, Get Suprise Ebook (Also, PDF Question) on: May 01, 2013, 12:22:24 PM
Newbies, don't buy pirated goods, just download them for free off Bittorrent instead so these assholes have to go and learn a real profession Tongue

Are you seriously suggesting that racism is even in the same ballpark as the word "breast" ?

Yes, yes I am, the same way that people get offended over someone saying the word 'fuck' or 'bitch' or any other number of 'insults' I'm getting completely desensitised to and bored of over the years, there's far worse things that someone can say about another person without even using a slur or swearword, it all just depends on how you use it.
7632  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [REPOST FOR NEWBS] - I of Mems list Encourage boycotting SatoshiDice [RACISM] on: May 01, 2013, 07:48:40 AM
I appreciate that I'm probably going to get flak from the people out there who are obsessed with their own ideologues of how people should behave but they piss me off so:

Saying stuff like this is pretty stupid but if we were to go after morons who said this sort of thing about other people without thinking we'd all be guilty. I also find it pretty amusing how offensive nigger is supposed to be yet the word 'fag' now seems okay, even south park had a whole fucking episode on the thing. I'm throwing out the tired old saying of not judging people by what they say but by what they do, it's nice to know there's still hypocritical white knights I can hate against even on here.

I've seen a post once where someone got banned off World of Warcraft for saying the word 'Breast' so it just goes to show you that people out there can be offended by anything.
7633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: some more dark scenarios on: April 30, 2013, 03:48:57 PM
Commiecoins Cheesy

But seriously, heard these arguments a million times too and they're usually done by whiney neo-keynesians who can't understand they've lost.
7634  Other / Off-topic / Re: Legal Tender in UK? on: April 30, 2013, 03:47:34 PM
Ahhh so that's how it works, I did see an article where a guy paid for college with 1 dollar bill once.

7637  Other / Off-topic / Re: Legal Tender in UK? on: April 30, 2013, 01:06:15 PM
Unfortunately shops/banks and the like have the right to reject this sort of thing I think but the law might have changed since I last looked.
7638  Other / Off-topic / Re: I bought a stunning engagement ring - directly with Bitcoins! on: April 30, 2013, 10:07:06 AM
The funny thing is if you look into the rarity and real value of diamonds you'll see they are much less than what the price is listed for.

But anyways people overpay for many things...to each his own.

When it comes to gemstone the value of them varies hugely, I actually saw a youtube video with Peter Schiff talking about using them as a store of value which I found very interesting but I've forgotten where it is, it all depends on the quality of the gemstone and how brittle it is etc. some stuff I've seen on the news has gone for millions.

Sadly - this beautiful ring is now hiding somewhere in the sands of a beach on the island of Rarotonga Sad

And oh fuck! Ouch! Never take those kind of things outside or do practical stuff with them ;_; lol
7639  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitcoins - is it going up, or going to plunge down hard... on: April 30, 2013, 09:59:33 AM
Define 'plunge'? The amazing thing I find is that Bitcoin held at £50 despite stupid journalists proclaiming the end of the currency, it barely went below ( I was watching the price with interest Tongue ) and now it's steadily rising again, in fact I'd say it's acting less volatile than it was before because the price movements seem less jumpy. I'd be concerned if it dropped all the way to £1 for sure or even less, but basically in the current economy I think having it stay at £50 - £100 and maintain that for years to come would be the best thing we could hope for.

With the money printing that's going on I suspect Bitcoin will likely end up going much higher though because the central banks just don't know when to quit.
