7661  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Delete on: April 25, 2016, 12:08:33 PM
I don't think mods will delete this thread.  Probably best to lock it and move it to Archival section if you're done with it.
7662  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: April 25, 2016, 02:47:11 AM
Is there a way to lock/password protect the vanity generated priv key?

You can use the -e option and be prompted for a password before generation.
Alternatively you can use the -E option and specify the password pre-generation (probably not a good idea for security reasons)

edit: If you don't have keyconv you wont be able to decrypt the encrypted private key.  Get it here and put it in your vanitygen folder.
  Usage: keyconv encrypted_private_key <enter>
You'll be prompted for the password.

Mods wont delete your account nor will they ban you for simply asking.  There are however a myriad of ways to get yourself banned but I wont suggest any; that would be aiding and abetting.

edit: by the way, the ban is not on the account but on the person - be careful.

I see a lot of posts in the press section by the same members (wearing sigs) sometimes 4 and 5 in a row; within minutes if not seconds of one another.  What exactly is the threshold for a ban?

7666  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elders of 13 inbred European Bloodlines house training their inbred children on: April 24, 2016, 02:26:37 PM
The Blood Bank

Recently, my mind showed me a vision of how the Elders of the 13 inbred European Bloodlines (Devil worshipers cult) will indoctrinate you into their evil cult. They will replace a percentage of your blood type with similar blood type from one of their evil inbred children. This indoctrination process is how they will welcome you in as one of their biological family member. They've illustrated this to you through 'vampires' movies. In movies, in order for you to become a vampire, a vampire must feed you their blood.

Remember, they are into perversion. One of their perversion is the twisted version of the Bible where as the Elders of the 13 inbred European Bloodlines become the symbol of God, and once you receive the blood transfusion you will become one of their inbred children. Hence the terms 'Brothers & Sisters' from the Bible.

Low Rank member: They will drain about 10% of your blood, and replace it with about 10% blood from their evil inbred children. Of course, it must be same blood type as yours.

Middle Rank member will receive about 20% to 30% blood transfusion.

High Rank member will receive about 50% to 60% of the blood transfusion.

How do they go about recruiting and approximately how many people have been indoctrinated?  What countries would I be advised to avoid?
7667  Economy / Economics / Re: how many coke cans you can buy with one dollar in your country? on: April 24, 2016, 01:53:36 PM
Coke cans eh?

What if I tell you that one can of coke is more than $1 in my country? Or at least at most places in my country.

I would say you live in an international airport.
There's no other place a can of coke costs that much!
7668  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Mining behind firewall on: April 24, 2016, 01:50:41 PM
I found the following thread which I believe answers your question.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=87509.0

I realize the thread is a few years old, but it should give you some idea of the sort of traffic you would be sending/receiving.

... would the traffic from the mining generate any weird looking traffic on IT's end? If so is there any way to mask that traffic? ...

I can tell you that your network traffic would look weird. I am not sure what kind of monitoring software your IT department uses, but any good IT department would be able to identify your network traffic with a little research. The only way to mask it would be to encrypt it over a VPN. You would have to verify with the IT department if your potential actions are against the company's AUP, that is if you were even required to sign one.

No that thread won't help.  Getwork is no longer in use.  I believe all pools use stratum now.  I don't even have a rig running anymore or I would check the bandwidth.

Well, did I win?  Seeing as there were no other entries I must be in the running at least.  What more do I need to do to win the coins?

Cross check your eqn. & eqv. don't you think you omitted something or made mistake when cross you cross-multiply and made subject  BTCx to BTCy ?

Thanks
Arlene

Is English your native tongue?  If not, perhaps you could write this post in your native tongue.  If I can't understand it, I have a friend who will.
If English is your native tongue, please don't say anything else.  I will simply concede my prize.

It's disconcerting to see they pay a 25% refferal bonus.  That policy alone reeks of Ponzi.
7673  Economy / Economics / Re: how many coke cans you can buy with one dollar in your country? on: April 22, 2016, 05:36:46 PM
welcome to Vietnam where you can find a 1.5 liter bottle of coke for less than 1 US Dollars!!!! Cheesy yep. Many thing you buy in my country may be much much cheaper than you can find anywhere else

I can regularly buy 2l of coke for less than $1 US in Canada.
You just have to check the flyers.
7674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are these Alternative CryptoCurrencies that I hear of & See ? on: April 22, 2016, 03:07:24 AM
Can some people please give me a quick rundown on what these Altcoins are in relation to Bitcoin ?

Are they like Alternative versions of Bitcoin with different Features or Specifications ?

Will they be around for as long as Bitcoin or do they get created & then abandoned ?

Yes and no some use the same algorithm most use a different one.  Some will make it longer term but most wont.
If you really want a detailed explanation, go here
7675  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin World Largest Mining Farm! on: April 22, 2016, 02:51:45 AM
There is a difference between transparent and incompetent.
Eurumara is pointing out inconsistencies.

Not necessary incompetent, they may be fully aware that the service they are selling isn't valuable.
Not even sure the information listed in the first post is accurate to begin with.

Yeah, I was thinking of the maintenance fee being less than the cost of electricity.  That seems like incompetence to me.
Then again, maybe they set the maintenance fee when bitcoin was at a higher value and never revisited it?  Hmmm... that would also seem incompetent.
7676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Not so fast... on: April 22, 2016, 02:26:53 AM
But just as applying kinetic energy recovery systems on a car are hard, I think it will be somewhat hard to find the cases where this otherwise wasted energy can be collected and used productively.  Only a toaster comes to mind at first.

In principle, something like this is possible: there are several laboratory techniques for recovering waste heat by converting it to electricity, but as far as I'm aware, none of those techniques are used on small scale "consumer" products. But I'm pretty sure the technology is used in large scale industrial applications, so maybe all is needed is a little more development of that tech.

Anyone heard some really up to date info on heat->electricity exchangers?

This is excellent news for families who eat toast 24/7 AND are into cryptocurrency mining.

I was led to believe that artisanal toast bars were popping up all over the place in the US right now.  I'm pretty sure eating toast 24/7 is a thing and bitcoin must be in those same places - I'm thinking San Fran?

A) The fans are too noisy and will attract everyone's attention
B) If caught you will be fired and possibly charged with petty theft (of electricity)
C) Is that worth ~ 6USD /day to you?

7678  Other / Off-topic / Re: WTF! Prince is dead! Age 57. on: April 22, 2016, 01:58:13 AM
Prince was a no-talent, egotistical jackoff just like Michael Jackson and just about everyone else in the business.  One less vote for Hilary is never a bad thing.

Prince had plenty of talent.  He wrote hit songs for other famous musicians as well.
Generally genius types tend to have mental issues and I guess in Prince's case it manifested itself as egoism.  Anyway, you don't have to like the musician to enjoy his music.

7680  Economy / Economics / Re: how many coke cans you can buy with one dollar in your country? on: April 22, 2016, 01:05:01 AM
Well, in Canada, you can buy 1 can, which I guess is 350mL (I don't have any cans on hand at all), with $1. At least it doesn't cost more due to the CDN/USD exchange rate, but I feel bad we can't buy more cans like other countries can.

Maybe up in Attawapiskat!  I've seen a 12-pack of coke for for $20 CAD!
I just showed above where you can get 6X710ml bottles for $2.49 CAD which is just under $2 USD so given that 1X710 ml bottle is worth 2 cans, you can get 6 cans for $1 USD!!  You need to shop around.  At Costco you can get a cold 500 ml bottle out of a machine for $1 CAD.
