781  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DeFi hacks [history] on: July 16, 2021, 03:11:43 PM
THORChain lost, according to preliminary estimates 4,000 ETH about $8 million as a result of a hacker attack. Originally reported loss of 13,000 ETH. https://www.runebase.org/news/thorchain-suffers-exploit

They promise to inform the affected users about the details and compensation in the near future. https://twitter.com/THORChain/status/1415813696857591813

UPD: Official update from the THORChain team in the telegram channel https://t.me/thorchain_org

MCCN Exploit Update

Loss:
Approx ~$4.9mm USD was taken in the exploit, far less than the intitial figures posted earlier. A granular breakdown is being developed by the community.

Method:
ETH Bifrost was tricked using a custom wrapper to read a deposit amount of 200 when it was actually zero. More details will be provided in the upcoming post mortem blog.

Discovery:
The issue was discovered by a community dev and anonymous nodes voluntarily used make halt command to stop their nodes. Once more than 1/3rd nodes had been halted, the network itself was halted. This was a decentralized action taken by node operators to protect the network.

Recovery:
1. Release the patch & restart the network > block pending outbounds > restore solvency.
2. Donate funds back to the ETH pool to restore lost funds to LPs
3. Release auto-solvency checker as a future preventative measure
4. Continue working with security firms to audit.

This is a disappointing moment for all, but LPs and Nodes should be unaffected after all is recovered (the funds will be restored). The network will be stronger and more resilient.

The THORChain community appreciate the inflow of support. More info to come in due course.
Yes, exactly it happened and was officially announced from their team. Their big response.
This is unfortunate because not only does it cause loss to investors and the project's confidence, but it also covers this negativity on the entire market, which is already in a bad state.

Safe Dollar - $250 000

https://t.me/safedollarannouncements/42
SafeDollar has been under attack. We have paused activities on SafeDollar and investigating the matter.
I still haven't forgotten the crazy moment with Titan, even though they later announced their mistake but it did a lot of damage. I've given up on polygons for now.
782  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bitcoin, Dogecoin Gain After Musk's Tweets, But Will There Be Another Bull Run? on: July 16, 2021, 02:45:34 PM
If there's a recovery it's not going to happen because of Musk. People are fed up with Musk and it's about time he stopped trolling crypto.

Dogecoin is down a lot and Musk did all the damage he could. It's not going to recover if he starts posting stupid rhymes or whatever. Those who got burned by his manipulation are already out of there and thinking how they could be so stupid to buy because of Musk.

What created by imo, fomo excessively will cause hype. And whatever, it won't last. Of course, people are fed up with Elon's tantrums, but it should not be forgotten that Elon has enough power and other powerful approaches to advance his plan. He will create death for Doge but not bitcoin, it is not natural. He's smart enough to know that.
783  Economy / Economics / Re: Can cryptocurrencies replace fiat currencies on: July 16, 2021, 02:26:38 PM
It's a topic we've been discussing about for a very long time. If we're talking about volatile cryptocurrencies, then I don't think that they will replace fiat. But if we're considering the digital currencies which are developed by governments, then they can and they will replace fiat in the future surely. It's an inevitable reality and people who are against it should digest this truth.
Cryptocurrencies are not meant to eliminate or replace fiat. I mean fiat doesn't have a basic self-balancing instinct anymore and crypto will creep into it all in an effort to create a better, fairer state and accumulate the inflations that arise from it by procedures and intermediaries. Crypto will not replace fiat in the future but it will better play a role between operations, managing or mitigating risks.
784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you believe in this information? on: July 14, 2021, 06:46:16 PM
German Law Allowing $415B Investment Into Crypto Takes Effect..
A new law in Germany that could theoretically prompt up to $415 billion to flow into crypto takes effect Thursday.

Also read here: https://finance.yahoo.com/news/german-law-allowing-415b-investment-104546919.html?guccounter=1
This information was mentioned by the media last week.  If I remember correctly, there will certainly be money in this fund flowing into bitcoin but the actual percentage seems to be undeclared.  In another move, I have information that Apple has invested $2 billion in bitcoin but it is still unconfirmed.  The market movement on price reaction to the GBTC unlocking process may have worked, with this action, I believe we will be out of the bear market if all is verified.
785  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Next better altcoin? on: July 14, 2021, 05:14:36 PM
If you want to invest in new altcoins then the risk you receive is very high, because we can hardly predict new coins can develop as quickly as possible, although the whitepaper of the coin is very convincing but we must have great consideration, then if you can not choose the old altcoin that already has potential.
That's right, each individual who participates in investment must do his own dyor based on his or her ability or skill, knowledge or expertise.  It's hard to find coins that can hit 100x - 1000x for what this market means.  I like a little adventure with Sovryn.  I bought 100 Sov for $30 and it's $10 now but I believe it's easy to go up to higher growth as they mature.
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC fall below $30,000? The high-yield risk opportunities are in MEME? on: July 14, 2021, 03:55:15 PM
I am now neutral on whether the bull market is still in place.

If the market changes to a big bull market, does it mean that meme coin has better returns?

After all, there is only 1-3 times the room for BTC to increase. Memes coins such as Dogecoin, SHiba, Dogira, TadPoleTADP and other animail coins have even higher declines, and rebound gains will be dozens of times. maybe? What do you think?
IMO It would be boring when other people lean towards these memes, except for Elon promoting Doge, coin memes would be meaningless.  Fomo, Imo which I don't think it will necessarily reset the app's response to increase the price as before.  Doge and other coin memes have a very deep hole to get through.  I don't have any of those, because I don't believe in the future of meme coins.  Instead, I will embrace NFT
787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Number of altcoins keep increasing! on: July 12, 2021, 08:23:48 AM
I see alot of altcoins and tokens been introduced into the market every day and I keep wondering if that is how this industry will keep growing.  The number of altcoins does not translate to increase in the over all market capitalization of the cryptocurrencies market and it that means that some of the coins we currently have in the market is not needed!
The blockchain industry needs novelty, creativity, and utility to match the growing demand.  We need it to be better, more advanced, more efficient.  But I'm not sure all is well because there are loads of flags marked as junk. Be aware to ignore them.
788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: when is the right time to buy cryptocurrency? on: July 12, 2021, 07:37:12 AM
Bottom, Bottom and Bottom is what we always expect to dominate in investing.  But how do you know where the bottom is, and when is a good time to start.  Ask yourself, do you have faith in BTC and crypto?  Are you willing to lose money on volatility?  Really, investing has a big point of faith, hope but not excessively, for me to buy whenever it feels right to the conditions that I have -Like a cup slowly poured water, lol.  Then, soak, relax and enjoy.
789  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 10 Best Cryptocurrencies To Invest in for 2021 on: July 12, 2021, 05:42:32 AM
Cryptocurrency can be considered as the digital money. This year can be considered as the bull year that we are seeing ATH in every week almost. So, the best time is going on for crypto. The Yahoo Finance published an article named as like the headline of this topic. I am quoting a part of that article.

Top 10 Cryptocurrency Investments in 2021
Cryptocurrency Price as of March 29, 2021 Market Cap Bitcoin $57,566.38 $1.075 trillion Ethereum $1,811.82 $209.464 billion Binance Coin $273.38 $42.304 billion Tether $0.99 $40.632 billion Cardano $1.19 $38.188 billion Polkadot $33.74 $31.349 billion Ripple $0.56 $24.598 billion Litecoin $192.88 $13.038 billion Chainlink $28.06 $11.689 billion Stellar $0.41 $9.23 billion

Cryptocurrency is a trillion dollars market now and it is getting bigger day by day. So, if you are still waiting, just look at the market volume.

What happens when calling Tether a good investment???  Lol, they are too perfectionist in the crypto game even though it proves to be important.  I don't expect usdt to be stronger as US government is looking to increase the core value of USD.  Bitcoin, ETH, BNB are my interest.  Some challenges with 100x are also interesting in bullrun. Cheesy
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we live without btc? on: July 12, 2021, 05:29:19 AM
Perhaps, we still live and exist but that is not life, satisfaction, freedom, attachment, complexity, ... pressure, death of justice,  ... I ask myself, what is the motivation when you do well and prove your ability but don't get the response you deserve.  The damn thing still revolves around your life, your work.  I am thankful that bitcoin was born!
791  Economy / Economics / Re: Will Bitcoin be infinite? on: July 12, 2021, 04:55:31 AM
The Simpsons, in an episode of the 32nd season, data on the virtual market shows that the development of Bitcoin is a symbol of infinity. For us, green means rising.
Do you think Bitcoin will be unlimited in the future?
I believe that, “infinite” in terms of value, scarcity will make it possible for BTC to reach $1 million in the future.  halving cycle, increased mining difficulty, multi-liquid growth of institutional investors.  The current economy has been diagnosed and dissected a lot after the covid pandemic emerged.  Decentralization will continue to grow in the near future.  Forget CBDC, it doesn't reduce the value of bitcoin.  It is important that the bitcoin price is retroactive!
792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find good ICO's and new projects in general? on: July 11, 2021, 04:15:10 PM
Most of the times,  just following up on the latest in cryptocurrency is enough to get you information and insight you need to make informed decision about investing in New or old projects. Bitcointalk is another legit Platform where most cryptocurrency projects is access,  analysed and talked about!
I agree with your point of view.  Bitcointalk is the starting point for all the “good enough” projects to showcase their strengths.  This place is like a crypto cradle, you have the freedom to promote, discuss and communicate the good features of a public project.  Most of the sites promoting ICOs have their own fakes, listing ANN on BTT is almost a stepping stone for a good project to spread.  Basically, this community is good enough and selective
793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Difficulty Bomb Delayed Again on: July 11, 2021, 02:23:18 PM
Ethereum will be rolling a series of upgrades with the "London" hard fork on August 4, 2021. It'll be an exciting time for ETH holders as the cryptocurrency becomes scarcer than ever while fees decline considerably across the Blockchain. While the hard fork will bring many benefits, it will also delay the difficulty bomb to Dec 1st. We're going to have to wait again until ETH becomes a full-fledged cryptocurrency.

This sucks real bad, since developers keep delaying ETH 2.0 after each upgrade. I know they want to make sure the new upgrade is as secure as possible before rolling it on "mainnet". But the many delays are making people desperate as the current implementation of the ETH blockchain becomes heavily congested. If this keeps up, Binance Chain or another competitor could take down ETH's position as the leader of the smart contracts industry.

What are your thoughts? Do you like the idea of delaying the difficulty bomb after each hard fork? Do you think sometimes enough is enough? Will people get tired of ETH's inability to scale on time? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Smiley
I don't think there's going to be anything panicky about ETH.  Do you want their success and promises to be perfect and cover up any remaining flaws?  Over 6 million ETH staked in ETH 2.0 (Over 180k users there).  I believe ETH 2.0 will respond very well and the price will explode.

794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can the market build an immune system against meddling from influencer like Musk on: July 11, 2021, 02:06:26 PM
Vitalik Bterin in a recent interview told CNN

Quote
that he believes that the crypto market will gradually build an "immune system" against such social media meddling. "Elon is not going to have this influence forever," he said. Frazzled cryptocurrency investors can only hope that Buterin is right.

Do you think or shared Buterin's views that the market will soon build an immune system and how it's going to happen, honestly we don't need people like Elon Musk who has an influence in the market.

First of all, Elon Musk is not an ordinary influencer, but one of the richest people in the world, so such people will always have an influence on all financial markets.
When it comes to the cryptocurrency market, its resistance to people like Elon Musk and their actions will build as the maket cap grows. The market cap is growing all the time, so I agree with Vitalik that it is only a matter of time before the market becomes resistant to such manipulations.

but when will it happen. when does the immune system exist? I don't think such a thing will ever exist in the crypto market. In the future there will always be another Elon Musk trying to manipulate the market. and his followers believed easily what he said. this will continue, and there is no immune system in the crypto market. because some people also expect this to pump up the market.
Alright,
I don't think so, the fact that Elon comes from a personal outburst, it has a degree of harm to the community.  But to be fair, it's still more noticeable than the conspiracies from federal banking associations... Somehow, they're not listed by any but that should lead to symptoms.  much worse.  I guess, but I wouldn't go with Idiot.  I have my dyor.  New people will really hurt.
They have enough freedom to do what they want, not just Elon.  Immunity is just a form of criticism of what could not be better.  Lol
795  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Vulcan forge project is it good or what? may i know you opinion? on: July 11, 2021, 04:37:33 AM

Vuncal just hatched from its egg.  July 25 is the opportunity for them to step into the market.  Diverse game platform, support for fiat gateway right on myforge, a highlight is adapting to a niche NfT market is provided, they have cross chain Vechain, Matic, ETH... openable  expand BSC in the near future.  They deserve to be strong opponents with Axie on the way to change the game world.  A few promises to come.

When the volume drives the bigger players.  $PYR can turn on 10x - 100x without friction.
796  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Becareful with Meme Coins on: July 11, 2021, 03:53:39 AM
honestly ,i like meme coin for speculation purpose moreover it elon musk shill it.
If you have understood the risks of speculating in cryptocurrencies, then the decision is yours.  You put your money in a pit where the rise/fall depends on only one person, Lol.  Those are bloodsuckers, when Elon can't do better, it will go to failure.  Doge, Shiba are double-edged swords.  Be careful
797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you get your news about Crypto? on: July 10, 2021, 08:00:24 PM
I've been reading CoinDesk and CoinTelegraph, but those are general news sites in my opinion.  There isn't a lot of news about the smaller coins.

What sites do you read?
Smaller coin?  you mean new altcoin?  The majority of new coins are only promoted and communicated in personal or institutional media, media, reddit, twitter... They need to be confirmed before being interested and approved by the authorities,  author, is allowed to publish accurately identified information on well-known news websites such as cointelegraph,... .  Honor, scams and disclaimers are big deal
798  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How crypto currency change your Life? on: July 10, 2021, 03:31:10 PM
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are the driving force behind me to keep trying in my current life and work.  Take short, keep long, so I accept the negative and unfair reality, vying for status and social status with countless tricks.  As obnoxious and parties as hell, what I believe about the future of crypto is opportunity.  I am passionate about bitcoin and crypto with 75% of my assets.  All expect a big change.  However, the opportunity to change life has not yet come.  But importantly, I realized a big change in my will and beliefs about blockchain, bitcoin, crypto, it's a part of my life.
799  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BNB burn 16th. Now BNB is worth $312. Will you buy or not? on: July 10, 2021, 02:41:59 PM
Binance coin or known as BNB coin will begin their 16th token burn on this month (around mid-July 2021), last year, they have running BNB burn for 12th on July 17, 2020. Will you buy BNB now or just wait and see because market still looking not too good?

If the amount of $ burn similar with previous burn, it's mean they will burn around 2 million BNB coin worth of $600million
BNB is worth buying and hoarding.  I will always buy it, preferably in the dip Smiley)) In fact, BNB only really comes to light when BSC starts and the forming benefits of Pancake are too great to attract along with low gas, high speed.  fast transaction.  But in return for security, compatibility, it is still not complete, and the small alley SEPA has stopped from the UK is the challenge.  But I'm not worried and there's the final burn in Q4.
800  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is this the time for a comeback for crypto? on: July 10, 2021, 02:20:41 PM
Thread opened July 04, 2018

Now we are November 26, 2018.

There is no comeback as you can see. Forget 2018 and 2019. Think about 2020 and 2021...
Very true mate!  I hope you can keep your eyes open to see how amazing everything is this year, it's not the four-year cycle as it's commonly called, but it was... the big rally and many historic feats with bitcoin went on.  What's the record, El Salvado,... next?  Argentina proposes to pay employees in crypto!  well, good to wait more.  Bitcoin is ushering in a crypto boom.
