7921  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Re-used an old address to receive, no transaction is done on: October 23, 2017, 11:56:59 AM
In this case it'd be helpful if you people could point out where scam sites involving
crypto can be reported. With a quick search I didn't find anything community-based
but I expect there is some reference list out there.
Firstly, sorry to hear it was a scam Sad

Secondly, if you wish to report a website as being a scam to try and help the rest of the community avoid falling into the same trap... I would suggest you go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0

It is the "Scam Accusations" sub forum here at BitcoinTalk... be sure to read the "sticky" post that explains how to properly format your post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=260073.0
7922  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: What is the cheapest way to send bitcoin from electrum? on: October 23, 2017, 11:54:09 AM
How many UTXOs make up your 0.01294280 BTC? (Click the "Coins" tab and count the number of entries that you see. That is the number of UTXO's your transaction will be using when you try to send the entire balance in your wallet.)

0.01294280 - 0.01272440 = 0.00021840 in fees... assuming that all your coins are in one input... and that you actually prepaid the 2FA fees, so you have a "minimum" sized transaction of 192 bytes, your fee rate would only be 113.75 sats/byte.

Current recommended fees seem to be between 60-140ish... so I don't see any issue with the fee being proposed by Electrum.

If you want to use cheaper fees, then just goto: Tools -> Preferences -> Fees and tick the box that says "Edit Fees Manually". Just be aware that if you screw this up and use a fee that is too low, your transaction may not get confirmed for hours and/or days.
7923  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: cannot receive bitcoin on: October 23, 2017, 11:26:46 AM
Hmmm, I get the same issue, probably some weird directory permissions error... or something.

To work around this, what I would suggest is that after you get to Step 6. and have all your keys displayed (you might also want make sure that "Include Unused (Address Pool)" is also checked, as your wallet is not synced, so it might think some addresses are unused when they actually contain coins) do the following:

Step 7. click the "copy to clipboard" button and then paste it into a text document.

Alternatively, just highlight all the text in the window and copy/paste the text manually into a text document. You will then have all your private keys and you can import/sweep them into Electrum.

7926  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can I remove multisig function from wallet? on: October 23, 2017, 04:52:53 AM
Restoring your Mac wallet from word seed should have recreated an identical wallet on the Mac... that would have identical xpub/xpriv to the original wallet.

When you say you "upgraded your mac wallet", what exactly did you upgrade and how? Did you install a newer version of Electrum? Or did you install a completely different wallet app?
7927  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum mac wallet keeps crashing on: October 23, 2017, 04:39:10 AM
Like I said, I seriously doubt that it has anything to do with the number of connected nodes. Electrum is a lightweight SPV wallet. 10 connected nodes is certainly not a "large number" and is perfectly normal.

Do you get any error messages or debug logs when it crashes? It's possible that the version of Python you have on your system is not playing nicely with Electrum.

I remember an issue not so long ago, where there was a bug in one of the 2.9.x versions where it was constantly writing the wallet file data to disk... I don't recall the specific version that had this issue. Perhaps that is what your problem is? Maybe try downgrading to 2.9.1 or 2.9.0 and see if that fixes the issue?

You can find them here:
https://download.electrum.org/2.9.1/
https://download.electrum.org/2.9.0/

I'd suggest upgrading to 2.9.3, but apparently this is an issue with the OSX version on 2.9.3.

7928  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Help on restore 2nd Wallet, Where is the restore button? on: October 23, 2017, 04:28:02 AM
What you are trying to do is not possible as you cannot have multiple recovery seeds in Mycelium. All the HD accounts in Mycelium are generated from one seed... and just use different "account" values in the derivation path:

m/44'/0'/0' - 1st Account
m/44'/0'/1' - 2nd Account
...
m/44'/0'/n' - Nth Account etc

If you wanted to use the "accounts" in Mycelium, you'd need to setup the accounts in Mycelium, and then send your coins from each Copay account to an address in the appropriate Mycelium account.

7930  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Samourai Wallet - Experiences? on: October 23, 2017, 04:17:57 AM
It is an "unreleased" app that is currently under development... so I would expect some issues to be encountered. I'm not sure I would trust it for day to day use until it has been properly released.

Seems to have some nice security features though. Definitely a mobile wallet to keep an eye on.
7931  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: New Address each time for Ledger Nano on: October 23, 2017, 04:06:18 AM
Yes, by default, the ledger wallet will give you an "unused" address when you want a "deposit to" address. If you have had multiple transactions, your coins are most likely spread across multiple addresses.

If you want to see the addresses your coins are currently in, you would need to look at the individual transactions in your transaction history, and get the individual addresses from there.
7932  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Prices on Different Exchanges on: October 23, 2017, 03:58:38 AM
It is natural that different exchanges have different prices as they are effectively separated markets. None of the exchanges are "linked" together.

So while two people might exchange BTC for $6100.00 on Bittrex, setting Bittrex's current price to $6100.00... on another exchange, say Poloniex, two users may be exchanging Bitcoin for only $5900.00, setting Poloniex's current price to $5900.00

There are also latency issues, by the time to you move from one site to the other to check, trades will have occurred further changing the price.
7933  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: cannot receive bitcoin on: October 23, 2017, 03:45:21 AM
No, he has his bitcoins in a "Bitcoin Armory" wallet, which requires a Bitcoin Core node to be able to send bitcoins.

To the OP, within Armory you need to do the following:

1. Select "Wallet Properties"
2. Select "Backup this wallet"
3. Select "See other backup options"
4. Select "Export Key Lists" then click the "Export Key Lists" button
5. When prompted, enter your wallet password and click "unlock"
6. Make sure that the "Address String", "Private Key (Plain Base58)" and the "Omit spaces in key data" boxes are checked.

This should display all the private keys contained in your Armory wallet. You can then import/sweep those private keys into another wallet. I would suggest that you use a lightweight wallet like Electrum if you are unable to sync the blockchain yourself.
7934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transaction not confirming after 12 hours, HELP PLEASE on: October 23, 2017, 03:36:12 AM
Ahhh... I think I've identified a potential problem... Your transaction contains a "dust" output:

Some miners may not accept transactions with such small outputs... you have an output of only 0.00001295 btc.  Shocked  To give an idea of how small that is... your transaction, with a 5 sat/byte fee, paid a total fee of 0.00001870 BTC!

So, that 0.00001295 BTC output would cost more to include in a transaction than what it is worth.

EDIT: Nope... AntPool were happy to accept it... I re-accelerated it using AntPool, and it has now been confirmed Smiley

7935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What info should be kept with each seed of a multi-sig wallet? on: October 23, 2017, 03:19:33 AM
After a quick read through, I like the concept of "shamir39"... You get the benefits of shamir secret sharing, that is to say, being able to split your mnemonic into multiple parts for storage in separate locations, but with "human readable" words as opposed to the normal long "hex" strings to help reduce/prevent errors during transcription etc.

I believe that a system like this would certainly be of benefit for hardware wallet users... it would enable one to create another layer of physical security for one's mnemonic storage.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on any developments regarding this system. Smiley
7936  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Help please.. Lost 2-step authentication on Electrum on: October 23, 2017, 03:07:48 AM
Technically, it is still a 2FA wallet, as it was created using the "2FA" seed, it is just that you now have 2 of the 3 seeds stored within your wallet file, so electrum can sign all your transactions with 2 private keys without needing to contact TrustedCoin.

You'll notice that all your addresses are still "3" addresses, so you might encounter difficulties with "signing messages" and/or getting a "private key" for any of the addresses in your wallet. A restored 2FA wallet is not really meant for day to day use, but more as a way to recover funds should the TrustedCoin service be unusable for any reason (ie. their service is down, they go out of business etc).

IMO, It would be advisable to either create a new standard wallet (with a single seed) or a new 2FA wallet (with a working GAuth code) and move your funds to that wallet.
7937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 1 sat fee on: October 22, 2017, 07:29:50 PM
This is just an example but in this way works an acceleration. These free accelerator doesn't accept in fact transactions whose fee is 1 Sat/byte or 50 Sat/byte, the mining pool wants to get a piece of cake and not nuts as a reward.
That's not true... ViaBTC has a minimum of 10 sats/byte (or 0.0001 BTC/kB). 50 sats/byte is way more than required by ViaBTC:
Why does it say “Transaction does not exist”?
In the following cases, you may be told that your transaction does not exist:
1) Too low fee: We only provide accelerator services for those with at least 0.0001BTC/KB transaction fees;

confirmtx.com only seems to require that your transaction is UNDER 500 bytes... and they're accelerate it for free... I've no idea if their service actually works or not, I have no real way of confirming whether or not a transaction was confirmed because of their actions or just random luck. At least with ViaBTC you can see if the block your transaction was included in was mined by ViaBTC or not Tongue
7938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What info should be kept with each seed of a multi-sig wallet? on: October 22, 2017, 07:19:41 PM
I was going to point you to: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2280898.0

But it seems you already found that thread... which describes EXACTLY what you need to save at each of your locations... but then it seems that you want to use this shamir39 and the mnemonics instead...

I think the piece you're missing in your puzzle... is that if you create a 2-of-4 MultiSig... you absolutely must have ALL 4 pieces to be able to recreate the wallet... This is why the other poster has this as his requirements:
Location 1: wallet seed 1, master pub key 2, master pub key 3, master pub key 4
Location 2: master pub key 1, wallet seed 2, master pub key 3, master pub key 4
Location 3: master pub key 1, master pub key 2, wallet seed 3, master pub key 4
Location 4: master pub key 1, master pub key 2, master pub key 3, wallet seed 4

Each location has 4 pieces... the location specific seed, and the pubkeys (associated with the seeds) from the 3 other locations... in this way, if one site gets compromised, it will be able to recreate the wallet, but can't spend... the only way to spend would be to have the information from two of the sites.

7940  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum mac wallet keeps crashing on: October 22, 2017, 03:50:54 AM
That won't/shouldn't be the reason for your crash... generally Electrum connects to around 10 nodes (these connections are where it downloads the blockchain headers from)... the actual Server you send through is listed below the node count and there should be only one.

What version of Electrum are you using?
What version of MacOS are you using?
Have you tried previewing your transaction before sending?
Do all other functions of Electrum work ok?
