81  Economy / Trading Discussion / CampBX Security Bug Update on: March 04, 2012, 11:08:44 PM
Hi all,
The PCI security scan on CampBX identified a Linux/SSL-related vulnerability on our new server earlier this week.  This has caused us to lose the "PCI Compliant" status + logo temporarily.

After extensive testing our server administrators confirmed on Wednesday that this issue is a false positive.  The bug had been patched a long time ago but the version number was not updated, which caused the security scanner to throw a false positive.  Today McAfee's security team has verified and accepted our findings.

It will take a couple of days to get the PCI certified status back, but we have been fully compliant and secure all along.

Thank you,
      Keyur

83  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: (ATTN) BitcoinCharts.com Data Feed for CampBX on: March 01, 2012, 04:00:07 AM
Any news regarding the new payment methods? I'm curious Wink

EDIT: I see them now. Are you still planning to enable european transfers this quarter?

Hi Nuno,
We now have a fairly comprehensive set of money transfer methods for the USA, now but we ran into regulatory roadblocks in two European countries.  Hoping for some good news soon!

We also have several new features coming out in next two months, but I am personally very excited about the new withdrawals page. It represents our new design approach, where CampBX presents its underlying functionality more like an iPad App - clean, smart, and efficient.

Hope you are doing great,

84  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Unsung exchanges on: February 28, 2012, 12:40:29 AM
hmmm..my money has been tied up at CampBX for the last week cause they can't figure out how to withdraw to dwolla.

I can't really say CampBX really impresses me.

My votes for unsung exchanges would be Bitcoin Central and BTCex.

CA,

We have fix going in tonight for the Dwolla issue.

Dwolla has twitchy fingers when it comes to making unannounced changes to their code, and this time unfortunately their change broke our code.  The timing of this was also difficult, as it came just before our major server upgrade.

Apologies for the delay,
       Keyur

85  Economy / Trading Discussion / (ATTN) BitcoinCharts.com Data Feed for CampBX on: February 27, 2012, 10:47:00 PM
Hi everyone,
BitcoinCharts.com and BitcoinWatch.com are not picking up CampBX data feed since our server migration this weekend.  Our IP address changed during the migration, so it may be root cause for this issue.

We have alerted BC guys about this and will work with them to get the issue resolved.  In the meantime, please refer to CampBX Market Charts for recent statistics.

86  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: CBX server hardware upgrade. on: February 27, 2012, 06:20:46 AM
Hi yogi and nmat,
Yes, we had a planned maintenance today to upgrade CampBX server!  The upgrade took a few hours more than expected, but happy to report that everything went smoothly and we are back online as of 5:30 PM EST.

Now we have faster hardware platform, so you should see improved response times for API as well as website.  We are also running internal of several new features and looking forward to rolling them out in March!

Thank you,
      Keyur

Hi Deego3,
Thank you very much for your kind words: we had a planned maintenance today to upgrade CampBX server. The upgrade took a few hours more than expected, but happy to report that everything went smoothly and we are back online as of 5:30 PM EST.

@jwzguy:  Give us a try now!  Our new server has much more headroom, so we have reduced the API throttling significantly.  If you have any issues or suggestions, just let us know: we are always eager to help our customers and make CampBX better in the process.

Thank you,
      Keyur

Wallet powered by Camp BX  Grin

Nice job!  If they need a more automated solution for tracking and reporting, Bit-Pay can handle that and we will auto-forward the Bitcoins to their CampBX Wallet.

Thank you Tony!

Agreed: A simple wallet works well in the near term but as Diaspora's Bitcoin revenue stream grows, we can set them up with a more feature-rich solution.

You've heard Diaspora has had trouble with Paypal (shocking!)

Well, now they accept Bitcoin, and can never again be cut off from donations.

Show them some love! Gonna tweet this...

Thanks to Bit-pay and some of the guys on this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=49048.0) for making it happen. Diaspora and Bitcoin have many natural synergies, hopefully this leads to a nice relationship and cross promotion between the two communities.

Wallet powered by Camp BX  Grin

One question for the community: some people who see the mysterious looking string on the website are asking the right question: "What is Bitcoin?"  Diaspora team wants to include a link to explain what Bitcoin is.

What ONE link would you recommend be put up there?  Is http://www.weusecoins.com/ still the best way to go?

Thank you,

Hi David,
It is unfortunate to hear that an excellent service like ExchB is closing.  It was also an absolute pleasure to meet you in person at the NYC conference, and wish you all the best with your next venture.

Thank you,

MRB,
Regus also provides office space: http://www.regus.com/aboutus/default.htm

Right, but did you actually rent office space? Even if you did, Regus only allows 2 days of office space use per month ("virtual office" package) or 5 days/month ("virtual office plus"). It doesn't change my opinion that you are a little deceptive in prominently calling it "your office" on your website...

MRB,
You should visit a nearby Regus if you get a chance.  Many of the lawyers, psychiatrists, accountants, and start-ups use Regus extensively.

We had a 3-seat office #3041 at Regus for development team since launching the project.  Now as our code-base has stabilized, we have switched to the virtual office plan starting Oct 1.

I do not think that this is deceptive in any way.

Campbx is the only trade I trust.
Also, Since I live within 6 hours of their office in atlanta, if anything shady happens I will personally drive down there and BURN ATLANTA TO THE GROUND

Except CampBX has no physical presence at their published address. Google it; it is the address of a generic mail forwarding service with hundreds of companies listed in this suite 300. It's Keyur's right to use a mail forwarding service, but he is a little deceptive in claiming it is "CampBX's office".

How do you protect yourself from a possible government seizure?
What do you do if a court randomly decides to freeze your funds because of "money laundering laws" overnight?
All your eggs are in one basket (USA), are you prepared for a possible social collapse in the coming years?
How do you handle Dollar devaluation?

Can you please answer the above^ questions?

Greets,
oOo
.

oOo,

Social collapse and dollar devaluation questions are beyond any single company's capability to answer.  However, we are confident that our compliance policies and lawyers should be able to address (1) and (2) very well.
