81  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation Election Yields No New Board Members on: May 06, 2014, 04:40:55 AM
No One would actually code and help develop something as complicated as Bitcoin without getting paid or it.
Except Satoshi Nakamoto, who as of this post has not touched a single penny of his/her/their BTC wealth.

Seriously? Where's he now? Is he still working on Bitcoin? No..he gave it up 3 years ago, and the original bitcoin wallet etc back then was improved upon tremendously by Gavin... Again, No one would work on something as complicated as Bitcoin without getting paid.

I am not getting paid. I had no money during 2013. All my income goes back into development.

I spoke with dabura on IRC, and wrote this info:

He wants to add sending to stealth in Electrum.

Feeling a bit useless. Two Newbie-style questions:

1. Where do I go to give feedback on Dark wallet?  I have noticed a couple of things but not sure where to post/tell.

2. Is there any user-friendly info on what stealth addresses, coinjoin and multi-sig do and how to use them within dark wallet? Stealth addresses in particular have me completely baffled and what I've read so far hasn't made me any less baffled ;-(

Many thanks

2. I'll make videos soon.

Is Bitcoin just a stepping stone to something better?
Crypto will be one of the biggest things in our lifetime.
Bitcoin has a big head start as the leader. No one knows for certain regarding something better.

bitcoin is probably here to stay, but off this stepping stone so much is now possible.

Good point.

We don't need to sell our souls just to speed up adoption of Bitcoin.

Just come up with some noble reasons for anonymity
  • Funding whistleblowers
  • Donating to charities that are not universaly popular
  • Financial transaction by people who live in oppresive regimes
  • Paying for medical treatment without creating documentation

I don't need to explain myself to fascists and control freaks on why I want individual empowerment.
I refuse their game.

If OP_RETURN only holds the sender's pubkey and the nonce... I am wondering what would happen if the lookup tables went down or out of use in many years and I had to restore wallet from seed. How would it calculate the addresses created from my stealth address?

That's fine as the server indexes all stealth data.

Yes thanks a lot

Is there a thread on here discussing the code/UI?

firefox is important to me too as a user. we want originally with chrome for during development as the API is more stable.

we're waiting on a final spec by peter todd for the coinjoin. more info: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=279249.msg6526623#msg6526623

who said our goal is mass adoption? we see a new world possible and are singly focused towards our vision.
we're not going to paint over what we do with false gloss and weasel words.
more is at stake here than the price of bitcoin and a few american corporations.

how is the development of "libbitcoin" coordinated with the development of "Bitcoin Core"? I mean in this way like "bitcoinj" is coordinated with "Bitcoin Core".

98  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: CoinJoin: Bitcoin privacy for the real world on: May 03, 2014, 08:27:06 PM
@caedes, why not have a peer-to-peer broadcast-flood channel for announcing joint transaction availability? Maybe even reuse one that is already available, well maintained, and has known security properties, like say the bitcoin network itself? And then do direct connections to the followon stages?

We're waiting on a spec from Peter Todd.

Who holds my keys?

You hold them on your desktop. We do not have access to them.

Are mixing servers centralised?

No, they are federated in a p2p network. Anybody can setup a mixing server and have it inter-operate with the others.

We cannot view your transactions, and do not have access to your Bitcoins.

100  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Python library for bitcoinwallet without blockchain data? on: April 30, 2014, 03:56:36 AM
I'm going to develop a bitcoin related application, so I need to have access to a bitcoin wallet from the python code.
I don't want to have the entire blockchain stored, so I'm looking for alternatives. What do you recommend?

Electrum seems quite good but I don't find any API documentation.
