81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.8 UPD! | Node Incentives | ZeroTime | POW/POS on: October 19, 2015, 01:33:49 AM
You guys really suck at PR. There has been many claims of the code not being original and were backed up with solid proofs, how would you answer them? Does John even care to save the coin's rep?

There is no PR at all, just pure non stop development for almost a year already. If you don't remember how it started let me remind you, or you can refresh memories here yourself.

  • Closed source
  • Minor GUI bugs
  • NO console
  • NO encryption
  • NO UDP
  • NO iOS&Android wallets
  • NO GPU&FPGA
  • NO Crawler
  • NO ZeroTime
  • NO incentive rewards

Now VNL has everything from the list above in a year and what persons (won't mention names) did themselves in the same timeframe? Were bitching and trolling? Cool stuff nothing to add.

Crypto is full of scammers, vaporware hyped shit, greedy&lame devs and now look at VNL, feel the difference?

This has already been overly discussed. Read all of the source code and then decide for yourself. If you find anything suspicious your next move would be to hire an IP lawyer to verify the claims are valid. This is how these situations are handled in the real world, not on bitcointalk.org by repeating the same non-facts and expecting some result. Cool

Thank you for your support.

What command changes the password in the wallet? Can I return the last transaction? My passwords stolen. Perhaps through the program TeamViawer.
John unfortunately does not respond to personal messages. I need at least some kind of help. With my open wallet stolen more than 30,000 VNL! For me it is a great shock!

What's your wallet address, so we can check the blockchain before people put their energy in a possible made up story...

How long you have been using TeamViewer before this accident happen?

Can you tell me which transactions you didn't make yourself?

- there is no command for changing password to already existing one, but you can generate another wallet and encrypt it with a different password.
- you can't revert transactions in most crypto, for that purpose is available PayPal.
- sorry for your loss.

sell books dropped from 950k ~2 weeks ago to 400k just now

looking very good!

Hey everyone!

Awesome to be part of this project! So low price right now!! This coin can EASY have a market value bigger than  >100,000,000USD, trust me on this Smiley
Right now the coin has market value of ~400,000USD, if it goes to 4,000,000USD, you will have 10x your money!
Its time we start thinking about what car we are gonna buy Grin

Here we go, new wave of hype Wink

I am not a votecandidate anymore  Huh

{
    "walletaddress": VjKqEbKnAciBH9qGEWb75vUUgdQfXtMrNh,
    "collateralrequired": 10000,
    "collateralbalance": 0,
    "networkstatus": ok,
    "votecandidate": false,
    "votescore": 28621
}

ports still opened, balance 10, last received 10/2

Make sure, that
Code:
"mining":{"proof-of-stake":"0"
or locked most of the time, otherwise this will happen every few days, when collateral go into stake.

Why false?

Resend 10k (or more) VNL to your default wallet address in 1 transaction, then restart your wallet, unlock it and wait 15 minutes. If all done right, status will change to
Code:
"votecandidate": true
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.7 MANDATORY UPD | Node Incentives | ZeroTime on: October 02, 2015, 06:02:03 PM

your instincts are to simply attack anyone who doesn't agree with your community rather than try to listen to what they are saying. I never said VNL was the same in terms of tech. The issue is if a coin is allowed to die on the vine by a community too stubborn or arrogant or both to address concerns for a coin then it doesn't actually have a right to expect anyone to buy it.

Simple, get a peer review, show you don't need to hide. Cause if you don't soon you will look like you hiding. Communities make or break a coin, please tell me there is a sane person here that gets the coin needs to answer critics with a peer review and then we can move on.

Don't exaggerate, I just said that you are trying to compare different things based on past bad experiences. VNL is a long term project (years, not months), don't expect everything at once. It's constantly evolving and that is great.

Here, follow the digits, the perfect sequence. Wink
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.7 MANDATORY UPD | Node Incentives | ZeroTime on: October 02, 2015, 03:18:37 PM
I'll post this one more time.

I went through this exactly the same with Qora. The tech was amazing, the developer was seen as a genius and the community just stuck their head in the sands until eventually the coin is regarded as crap even though its as good as ETH, NXT and NEM combined.

Coins have a sell by date and VNL is running out. This community IF they want their coins not to be worthless and unable to even sell due to low vol forever need to listen up, and listen good.

This community NEEDS to meet FUD of the coin with a peer review of the coin. This will completely cancel out any FUD that has destroyed the price....

I won't warn you guys again, arrogance was what killed Qora...it can kill this coin too..I warned you.

I'm not sure why you compare VNL with QORA:

a) First major flaw - "no PoW no WoW" © ocminer

b) It started with unsustainable marketcap for a brand new coin.

c) and the final nail in the coffin

In my opinion it is more accurate to compare QORA with NEM or Vice versa, but not with VNL. Also, as far as I know, QORA dev has left the ship.

so i updated to the new mobile wallet and sent some coin, from it to my pc, and they never sent, cuz the wallet wasnt syncing
well the 3.7 mobile wallet wasnt up yet, i guess, so later i downloaded that when it was
now it gives the right estimate blocks but still wont sync
i went to irc and asked how to fix it a few times over the span of hours and even the dev john connor ignored me
this is a really great community here (sarcasm)
i will be dumping everything i have left, minus the 4k that is lost in space somewhere since the wallet wont sync, cuz of this

also something shady happened and where the mobile wallet backup was is now gone with the new wallet, so at this point u cant backup
if ur gonna stick with this coin at this point i dont recommend the mobile wallet at all
pc wallet works fine atm

Transfer your wallet from phone to PC with synched blockchain, after that change:

Code:
rescan":"0"
to
Code:
rescan":"1"

when missed transaction appears, move coins to exchange and dump.

Bctalk moderators are big dash and xmr investors.
They tend to be partial when their investments are threatened.
The last time that happened a great technical problem with dark/dash the bitcointalk came to be taken down for two days so that investors didnt know what was going on and all messages that talked about the fork were deleted when the forum returned on a thread that isn't moderate.
Let's hope for their sake they are not XMR investors today. Cheesy

Thank you for your support.

Let them reap what they with such zeal sowed. Maybe they will have less time and desire to wander in other threads.

At which block does collateral enforcement begin for superpeers?

At block #220000

Yes, you need to unlock it for ~5-10 sec each time you start it, after that you can lock it again and still get incentive rewards.

 can you confirm that works for you? tried it, when i locked the info showed a negative votescore and "false"

I can confirm, it's working for me. Made few tests on different machines, got incentive reward while wallet was in "locked" state for at least 12 hours.

you don't need any collateral for another week or three, kicks-in @ blk 220,000, i think. and i'd like to understand why the amount is so high also. Mammoth and Supercoin have decentralized coin mixers, colatteral for that system is 500 coin.

wait, what? We can just use an empty wallet as a superpeer at the moment?

At the moment we don't have master nodes. ...  collateral has nothing to do with that centralized version of cap

You don't need any collateral to become a superpeer, but you need it to collect the reward(I might be wrong).

You are right, to be eligible for SuperPeer you need to have open port for incoming connections (can be found in config.dat)

Code:
"networkstatus": ok

but to get paid for it after block #220000 you will also need 9,999 VNL as collateral in your wallet.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNOFFICIAL] VNL | Vanillacoin 0.3.6 Beta | Node Incentives | ZeroTime on: September 27, 2015, 01:06:08 AM
Then it seems like I didn't get a single incentive reward in a week. How often are they? The votecandidate value is true.

is your wallet unlocked?

                   :::

Wallets don't have to be unlocked to receive node incentives, only for staking and sending I believe.

  i have to say it doesn't seem so -

started wallet after a comp restart:

{
    "walletaddress": ,
    "collateralrequired": 0,
    "collateralbalance": 0,
    "networkstatus": ok,
    "votecandidate": false,
    "votescore": -1
}

after unlocking
{
    "walletaddress": ViykunxxiBsjrL7paRswFF5Egp94rkJJX1,
    "collateralrequired": 0,
    "collateralbalance": 0,
    "networkstatus": ok,
    "votecandidate": true,
    "votescore": 20777
}

Yes, you need to unlock it for ~5-10 sec each time you start it, after that you can lock it again and still get incentive rewards.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [VNL] Vanillacoin, a quiet word of warning. on: September 25, 2015, 03:02:09 AM

I see now multiple threads about Vanillacoin, but
where is an intelligent discussion about whether the
coin actually delivers the distinctive new features it
claims to have?

"property rights", give me a break

here you go:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=977245.new;topicseen#new

I know that thread, I was hoping someone smarter
than me might review the new networking/consensus code and ascertain
if it is vulnerable to a double spend or some other type
of attack.

Poloniex did review the code awhile ago.  It's the only coin other than Bitcoin that only requires 1 confirmation on Poloniex and has been that way for about 4 months.  You can test this by going here: https://poloniex.com/public?command=returnCurrencies and searching for minconf":1,

You'll get two results, which will be Vanillacoin and Bitcoin.

Some other things that are testable are:
- It's the only coin that has full, staking mobile wallets that allow you to move your wallet.dat to your PC from your Android and iOS wallets
- It's the only coin that gives you a random port if you have no config.dat.  All your ISP will see is normal SSL traffic while monitoring your ports, which is unlike what happens with all other coins

It's also the only coin to have near-instant 0 confirmation transactions without master nodes.  No one has been able to break Zerotime, but no exchanges accept Zerotime yet.

This is not quite accurate, Poloniex accepts ZT more than a month already.

Said legendary XMR fanboy. Let's summarize your posts:

DASH - wall of text instamine, instamine, intamine wall of text... I don't like Evan.
VNL - wall of text fraud, fraud, fraud wall of text... I don't like John.

Any other "questions" or you just a "crapflooding asshole" who get tired of the stagnation of his beloved project? What is the main reason for searching for entertainment on the side.

Interest awards will depend on the number of coins in a wallet or something? Just explain in human language?

 wish ppl would stop calling it interest. peeps running healthy nodes can collect create income just for doing so, while PoW is ongoing. dev's proposal would phase in the reward scaling from 1-40% over a little more than a year if i read it right. i'm not sure how the collateral amount is determined, 10k seems a bit much

 i think the core purpose here is "PoWer to the people"   Grin

10k VNL ~2BTC at this price and ~6BTC at ATH not that much for my taste. Yes it could be 5k or even 1k, but seems John don't think that network needs that many nodes now and in the foreseeable future.

What do i need to do wallet has been open for more than a week and hasn't staked yet .My balance is 1831.
Thank you for any help

It may take more than one week to get first stake for that amount, also make sure it is unlocked.

Check config.dat for:
Code:
"mining":{"proof-of-stake":"1"}
and debug.log for string:
Code:
[INFO] - coin::mining_manager::pos_tick: Mining manager, mining (pos) with 1 transactions in block, bytes = 181.

If you see it as above, then everything is fine and all you need, to wait more.

I just posted on this thread cause if i was a true member of this community i would like to fpga mine and that wouldnt be possible anymore, thats all.

Also stated what i knew and what john-connor did to me. ( banning me from pool )

Not to talk about vanillacoin code which is suspicious , the first wallet said "libcoin ", not sure what it means.

If you were a true member of this community, you would know what "libcoin" means, but you just trolling.
