81  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why are you still mining on AntPool? on: March 14, 2017, 01:31:36 PM
Just out of curiosity, visited the link in your signature to see your mining pool. Unless stats aren't updated, it seems to show that the last block found was five months ago? I'm all for diversification of hash power but perhaps the reason people go for the biggest pool is simply because of the guarantee of something, no matter how small?

Good luck with bravo pool!
No, you're not mistaken.  My pool last found a block on 10/12/2016.  I hope you also looked at the minimal hash that is currently pointed to my pool as well.

My point in the original post is, "If all the same miners mining on AntPool were mining on my pool, they would have made 13.88% more BTC".  Well, on my pool it would have been 13.38% since I have a 0.5% fee.

People could be making a ton more coin for their hash, but because they think "OMG bigger is better!" they lose.
82  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Why are you still mining on AntPool? on: March 13, 2017, 02:13:25 AM
Seriously folks.  Why are you mining there?  You are giving up SO MUCH coin.  Here's just the past 24 hours:

In the past 24 hours, Antpool has made 29.50355862BTC for themselves from transaction fees ALONE.  They've solved 17 blocks, which means they've made an average of about 1.74BTC per block.  That turns into 13.88% fees they are charging their miners.

Why are you giving up 13.88% of your income?

Mine on a pool that pays you for your work.

I'm curious to how much of their hashrate is simply b/c they put themselves as the target pool.  I hope/trust users do actually change the payout address to their own, but maybe some see the btc coming to their wallet and think it 'good enough'

i would think readers of this pool sub-forum wouldn't be your target audience - and likely don't use their poo(l)
That would be an interesting stat... I bet it is a pretty large percentage of the user base that leaves things as they are from the factory.  Investors with too much money, and not enough sense who want to get in on the "Bitcoin thing".

they line up in droves to buy their used miners and mine at the pool.  how greedy can one company be?  boy, we've all come a long way from geeks at our computers mining bitcoin for $10.  only wanting enough bitcoin to buy another gpu for gaming.  but hey,  let's just give them or any other greedy farm corp your money.

Where would these greedy fucks be if Bitcoin was still under $100?   Hmmm  Imagine if the fastest miners were still the usb miners? Then bitcoin wouldn't be in the hands of the wealthy. and still in the hobbyist.

sorry kinda went off track there.  probably not the thread for this  Grin
No problem... preach away Smiley.  This thread isn't self-moderated.

84  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: March 11, 2017, 03:10:23 PM
Phil hit the nail on the head.  I've been trying to recruit new miners to the pool.  I've offered a number of promotions - one of which is still ongoing - to try and get people here permanently.  Unfortunately, after nearly a year and a half, we're still struggling to find and maintain a healthy base hash rate.  I sold off the vast majority of my own personal gear and haven't had the motivation to buy anything new again.  I looked at the new Avalon gear, and had some potential deals going with them, but everything fell through.  I refuse to buy Bitmain gear, so I'm kind of in limbo on new hardware.

So, it could be quite some time until we hit our next block.  Or, it could happen today.  The chances are far better if we've got more miners hashing... so find some folks and bring them here.  Everyone wins that way.

EDIT: by the way, I'll be updating the pool's coin daemons to 0.14.  I will post here when the process is complete (probably end up getting to it tomorrow).
85  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BEST POOL for 40Th ?? Slushpool or F2Pool ??? on: February 25, 2017, 12:11:33 PM
Not when payments are made, it has found blocks, on Slush you had to st a limit eg 0.1 BTC

On my Kano page i have 4 Mining awards, 1 dated 23 rd and 3 dated 24th - Total=   0.01519992

I only have one payment in my wallet, the earliset one -

454315   23/Feb 12:36   14.33170369   2.208T   129hr 33m 24s   20.33PHs   0.01%   292.166M   2.69THs   0.00189643

NOTHING ELSE Huh

On the PAYMENTS PAGE I HAVE -

Block   Address   Status   BTC
454504   1Ayax24aAU8c1xwAakK94DVDkm4kbfZ8Ch       0.00475653
454497   1Ayax24aAU8c1xwAakK94DVDkm4kbfZ8Ch       0.00451919
454462   1Ayax24aAU8c1xwAakK94DVDkm4kbfZ8Ch       0.00402777
454315   1Ayax24aAU8c1xwAakK94DVDkm4kbfZ8Ch       0.00189643

When will i get paid, why are none of the PAYMNENTS on the page not showing in wallet ?

Why did i only get that one (first small reward)

Totally confused...I thought once you find a block you get send a percentage of it ??

Cheers
This should really be asked on kano's pool thread... but I'll help you out.  There are a couple of factors at play here.  The first is confirmations.  The second is transactions.

Confirmations - a block of newly minted BTC must mature before any of the coins can be spent.  The maturation is 100 blocks.
Transactions - Kano mines his own payout transactions.  Therefore, in order for those to get confirmed, Kano must solve a block with those payouts in it.

If we look at your example, as of now all of those blocks are matured and eligible for payout.  Therefore, the next time kano finds a block, those payouts will be made.

87  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: New pool, 40 TH Never any payouts. Pls help on: February 24, 2017, 10:20:28 PM
And p2pool continues to mine empty and low transaction count blocks... if only there were other options... Tongue
88  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: February 24, 2017, 10:15:57 PM
Everything is back up.  The answer I got back was pretty vague, but I'm pretty sure it amounted to, "sorry but somebody kicked the cable"...

All's good again, so let's crack this block!!!  Remember, there's still that 1BTC bonus for whoever is the one to find it.
89  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: February 24, 2017, 09:54:46 PM
Hey everyone,

Something fishy is going on with my web server.  Mining is still going on and all shares are being recorded.  This is strictly on the web server, and I am investigating the issue.  I've already got an open ticket with the datacenter and will update here when I learn anything from them.

So, do not worry - your miners are still hashing properly, and all shares are being submitted and recorded in the database.
90  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: February 12, 2017, 05:03:42 PM
Well... the group promising to put at least 1.5PH on the pool has fallen off the face of the earth.  Apparently they realized buying, housing and managing that much hardware was a bit more of a commitment than they planned to give.

Don't forget folks, that 1BTC block finder's bonus is still available!  No complex rules, or hoops you need to jump through to qualify.  Point some hash to the pool.  Find a block.  Get the bonus coin.
91  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GBMiners.com is Expanding, Inviting miners to come join us . on: February 10, 2017, 04:08:34 PM
Ah, but they did.  Changing the footer to claim copyright directly and blatantly removed reference to the authors in the codebase.  The front end code is included, and that code has the following:
Code:
$foot .= 'Copyright © Kano 2014';
That is part of the pgfoot function definition, and is included in the construction of the web pages.
92  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GBMiners.com is Expanding, Inviting miners to come join us . on: February 10, 2017, 03:24:24 PM
The problem, tubexc, is in that little footer.  The licensing of ckpool clearly gives the right to use.  However, the usage of the code does not give the user the right to claim credit for it - especially in the form of a copyright.  By claiming a copyright, you are claiming you have created the work.  These guys most certainly did not create the work - ck and kano did.

I also suggest you take a look at the GPLv3, under which ckpool code is licensed.  In a nutshell, you must leave intact any copyrights.

So, these guys have wrongly taken credit for work they did not do, and have violated the license of the underlying code by removing the appropriate copyrights.
93  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GBMiners.com is Expanding, Inviting miners to come join us . on: February 10, 2017, 01:45:33 PM
Regardless of whether wmabern received a free miner, his statement is exactly right, and these scumbags were called out on the first page of this thread by both Kano and myself.  These guys have blatantly ripped off kano and ck's work.  They've been called into question about their association with MLM scammers.

Don't support pirates.

94  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: A guide for mining efficiently on P2Pool, includes FUD repellent and FAQ on: February 04, 2017, 09:09:35 PM
thanks for the clarification.
For the record; On the tests I made the income seems to have noticibly improved after I applied the changes indicated in the first post of this thread.
Unless your node is the one submitting the blocks, the changes in the first post have no bearing on your mining income, since it is somebody else's node that has created and submitted the block, and you have no control over whether or not that node has followed the recommendations.

What the first post states is simply that if you increase the transaction fee minimum for any transactions you include in blocks you create, and also increase the size of the blocks you create will translate into blocks containing more transactions with higher fees.  Again... just because you're doing it, doesn't mean anyone else is.

What really matters to you as a miner is that your shares are submitted and not DOA or orphaned.  That means having a well connected peer.  The faster you can get your shares out to the network, the less of a chance you have of them being orphaned.  The faster your own node processes shares, the less chance you have of them being DOA.

The entertainment value makes this thread definitely worth the time to read it.  I am on it daily to see what new creative memes and insults have been added.  Since appearing in this thread, the ramblings of Pzermax have been an interesting word puzzle.

I know I'll keep tuning in for the show Smiley
96  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: February 02, 2017, 02:10:33 PM
It pays out weekly on Fridays (or at least it did when I ran my yearlong tests).  You can see that thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=891298.0

It's a pretty slick system that they implemented.
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why no pool is accepting this transaction? on: February 02, 2017, 02:05:40 PM
No idea why blockchain.info is showing that transaction as unconfirmed... it clearly has 2 confirmations.

P2POOL could do with a booster, if your moving away from Antpool.

you should all be at Kano.is

No they shouldn't.  Not only would that be incredibly irresponsible, but Kano would prevent it on his side first.  He's stated many times that he doesn't believe any pool should be greater than 10% of the network's hash, and he would actively stop his pool from allowing new miners should he ever grow to be that big.

The hash should be spread out... some to kano, some to me, some to bitminter, some to mmpool, some to p2pool, some to bcmonster, etc.
99  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [150TH] [PPLNS 0.5%] Jonny's Mining Emporium (bravo-mining.com) on: January 28, 2017, 04:18:54 PM
Unfortunately, no, there hasn't been any progress on the additional hash.  I was getting almost daily updates from them, but communication has virtually stopped.  I'm hoping it's just a temporary setback and they are still building out their farm and will be pointing it here.  If and when I hear anything back at all, I will update the thread.

In the meantime, we're still chugging away.  I need to talk to my hosting provider to see if they've had any progress on getting some new Avalons ... they quoted me an extremely good price on them... well, at least it was a good price at the time.  Now, not so much.  I still have my 2 A6 running at home, but that's all I've got hashing at the moment.

The pool itself is humming along nicely.  I have updated it to properly create segwit blocks should it ever be adopted.  The bitcoin daemons are all updated to the latest 0.13.2 version.  All the nodes connect to Matt's fibre relay.

I'm ready for us to hit a block or two... so let's all give our miners a swift kick to get them motivated!

To get all of you motivated, I'll give a 1BTC bonus to the next block finder.  No strings attached, no time limits.  The next person to find a block gets an extra 1BTC.  If I happen to run any other promotions, they will be in addition to this finder's bonus.

So, good luck everyone, and let's get this block solved!
100  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE servers 225 blocks solved! on: January 24, 2017, 06:12:34 PM
By spread, he means you are better off having your hash all within a given difficulty period instead of having it cross multiple difficulty adjustments.

Let's assume the difficulty adjustment just happened and you were going to rent 50TH for 30 days.  You would be better off renting 150TH for 10 days.  At the end of your rentals, you've still gotten the same number of hashes, but with the second option, all of that happened at the current network difficulty.
