81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Backing Problem on: November 04, 2019, 09:43:38 AM
i don't know why you use the term "invest" for tether since it is like saying "invest in dollar"! that doesn't make any sense. tether has its purpose in the altcoin market and that is to provide a stable "crypto" currency that altcoin traders use for only two things. first is to use it as an escaping tool whenever altcoins are dumping hard so that they can preserve their value. and second is to use it whenever they want to transfer fiat between exchanges but not use banks due to banking system problems such as high fees and possibility of blocking your account.
if you are using USDT for anything other than these two, then you are doing it wrong!

Bitcoin is increasing with respect to USDT but it has to cater for inflation as well so a holder can be in profit. We need USD/BTC pair not USDT/BTC pair. Why should one trader rely on a third party token when he can trade directly the USD.
we do have BTC/USD markets and bitcoin value is measured against USD and that is what majority of traders have always been using!
it is only recently that some altcoin exchanges wanted to enter the high volume and safe market of bitcoin that they started adding BTC/Tether markets and only do that because they didn't want to get involved with KYC that addition of USD would bring.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Creation of a stable coin on: November 04, 2019, 09:19:14 AM
it depends on what type of it you want to create.
there is stand alone blockchain stable coin, in which case you simply create a cryptocurrency like you do any other time.
there is OMNI layer stable coins that use bitcoin blockchain and as its OMNI layer. in which case you have to read how OMNI layer works https://en.bitcoinwiki.org/wiki/Omni_Layer
there are tokens on smart contract platforms. this is the case you yourself said, you careat crappy token on one of these crappy platforms.

all of these methods have a step one which is starting a company and proving actual funds backing the stable coin.
83  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bottom Has Passed, Delphi Digital Says on: November 04, 2019, 08:33:06 AM
i don't honestly see any significance in this article nor in the person they are quoting. it is the classic move by newbies who want to pretend in predicting bitcoin price make. they jump into things as soon as there is a small change. a week ago the same people were saying price is going to continue falling until next year!
the fact is that price has still not broken the major resistance at $10k to go above that and remain there. and although i don't expect any more big drops but they are still possible until we go above $10k and start the actual rise not the correction of an unrealistic drop.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The best DEX on: November 04, 2019, 08:25:12 AM
I've been using Binance and when they released DEX I started using Binance DEX. Stability, lol.

nearly everyone in this topic is saying Binance DEX but from what i have seen i can't really call what they have released as a real decentralized exchange since it looks more like centralized and their website puts some limitations on people using it. not to mention that it takes fees from traders which makes it even less decentralized.
a "real" decentralized exchange should not be controlled by a company and it should not take any fees. the only fees involved in a truly decentralized exchange is the network (transaction) fees.
85  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Did China Dominate Bitcoin? on: November 04, 2019, 08:05:42 AM
the problem with people nowadays is that they believe any kind of crap that the internet feeds them. so if some random dude told them sky is brown they believe it without even looking at the sky and see what color it really is!
the fact is that only because during 2012 to 2016 they spread a lot of FUD about China and them banning bitcoin, having 100% of hashrate,... certain people are still programmed to believe that. the fact is that it was all FUD. not only China doesn't dominate bitcoin, it doesn't even dominate mining. hashrate is distributed well around the world.
if you look at Chinese trading volume it practically is non existent.
if you look at Chinese number of full nodes it is not the highest.
if you look at Chinese merchants, services, real adoption,... it is the smallest.
so how the hell are they dominating bitcoin? just becuas the internet said it and Bitmain is Chinese?!!!
86  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Dogecoin real or a meme? on: November 04, 2019, 07:55:49 AM
it is still a meme-coin that is created for joke and is mostly used for joke. but that doesn't mean a joke can not have value! just like the way people are trading virtual game items like Dota2 hero items with real cash, a meme coin like Doge can also have value.
NeuroticFish already posted good links, i just want to add that if you are thinking about "trading" or "investing" in a coin like this you also have to be able to analyze its market. a coin like this that has unlimited supply is not a good choice for investment ever.
87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which ALTS would you bu if crypto boom started yesterday? on: November 02, 2019, 07:08:13 AM
i will take a look at the charts and see which coin is actually getting pumped and then buy that coin and stay away from any coin that is just a name with a big hype and already pumped state which has a high chance of getting dumped instead. i don't want to lose money blindly and all those who have been constantly losing money over the past 2 years should know this already!
88  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price would touch $16K soon- By Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao on: November 02, 2019, 06:51:08 AM
he is just another newbie making price guesses, owning the biggest altcoin exchange doesn't change his lack of understanding of bitcoin and its market. i still haven't forgotten how he was demanding a roll back just because his shitty exchange was hacked Grin

I am bit confused about second part of Twitte regarding 1.4 billion people.  Does he mention about DCEP coin ? Which is going to launch by Chinese Central Bank ?
he is under the impression that some random news in the media about China and blockchain technology should automatically mean Chinese buying bitcoin and price shooting up to the moon!
89  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: November 02, 2019, 06:41:07 AM
damn, he won with only 185 tickets. congrats on his super luck Smiley
i had a lot more tickets than that, i am starting to think that my User ID number is cursed since i never win any lotteries either haha. fingers crossed for the next round though.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forget Bitcoin Halving! on: November 02, 2019, 06:26:55 AM
bitcoin adoption is growing and that is the only reason why its price have ever increased and will continue to increase. in other words you should never even think about halving because halving has nothing to do with adoption (aka demand) but only influences the supply.
things such as adoption of bitcoin by a big chain like Starbucks is a good indication of adoption and that is also helping it in the future (the growth of it) which is why it is important for the price rise.
91  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cobra vs Roger Ver on: November 02, 2019, 06:15:00 AM
i don't see any way that bcash could even be considered as a cryptocurrency even if you are not happy with how bitcoin has been moving forward. bcash is still the same centralized shitcoin that it has always been that has copied almost everything from bitcoin including the SegWit improvements even if they try to hide it! and copies are never better than the original.

I've been debating back and forth with myself if ETH is actually a decent investment or not. Might not be the same with Cobra's case, but you get what I mean. I personally don't like BCH, but hey, in a widely spread out and no-sole-leadership community, disagreements and forks are bound to happen.
don't confuse making profit with the coin actually being any good.
both ETH and BCH and a lot of other altcoins are still shitcoins and good investment at the same time while they are getting pumped. that doesn't make them a cryptocurrency though.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 32 ETH for staking?! on: October 31, 2019, 09:35:21 AM
the whole purpose of this ethereum 2.0 advertising campaign is to revive the ethereum project and pump it again. so with that whole purpose they have to force people to buy more ethereum in order to be able to participate in the free money giveaway called staking. 32 seems like a good choice in my opinion to server that purpose. and  in the end it is only benefiting the whales and the super whales such as Vitalik and the ethereum foundation that own about 70 million ETH among themselves.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I need your advice! on: October 31, 2019, 09:18:59 AM
the biggest problems with these projects is that people aren't really purchasing anything with their cryptocurrencies specially not with altcoins and things get even worse when the is only a specific altcoin involved.
so what happens is that they get some short term hype and fill the news to get some pumps. after that you see the dumps slowly kill the project and after a couple of months or maybe if they are lucky in a year the project disappears entirely.
94  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: October 31, 2019, 08:49:42 AM
I haven't had a captcha to solve in a really long time, now that it's mentioned by several people. I guess it's because I've been gambling a lot lately (multiply). Trying now for my fourth week in a row to get lots of lottery tickets. Currently at over 0.5% chance, so that's my highest ever chance, 1 in 200 haha.

there are only two ways to not-need to pass the captcha test as far as i am aware.
1. having a higher than a certain amount in USD. i don't remember how much it was but i think it was around $50 (that would be about BTC0.0055). in which case you won't even see the captcha anymore.
2. spending the reward points to skip the captcha
95  Economy / Speculation / Re: 4 Key Similarities to Previous Bull Market Corrections on: October 31, 2019, 08:29:41 AM
If there are similarities I don't really bother in any resistance at all, If Bitcoin gonna be in a bull run it will surely go beyond our expectations, and if you are seeing a major impact regarding the upcoming halving I think that is a good sign to say that we are in the midst of another all-time high, If the parabolic movement would trace its way back again then the bull market of 2016-2017 can be a grasp.

you blinked and you missed it!
bitcoin has been in a bull run for nearly the entire 2019. it is just that people expected bitcoin's bull run to be the exact same thing as the last thing they remember (end of 2017) so they are missing it. otherwise price is already up 220% from the beginning of the year and aside from the handful of corrections that we had, the price has been going up ever since it reached the bottom at $3100.

and that is the way all bull runs work, there are rises then corrections. and then rise again. what we had in 2017 was the end of the bull run which finished with a bubble. it will repeat again by the end of this bull run but until then we will continue having this type of rise which people miss out on!!!
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy birthday, Bitcoin! on: October 31, 2019, 08:19:27 AM
Bitcoin, the OG cryptocurrency, turns 11 on 31 October.

just like birthday of a human which is not the date when they were conceived but instead the date when they came out of the womb, bitcoin's birthday is not the day when it was conceived (that is when paper was release) but instead when bitcoin came into existence meaning when the very first block was mined. and that date is in January.

Bitcoin also underwent a hard fork on 1 August, splitting in Bitcoin (BTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH).
this is wrong.
bitcoin never had any hard forks in 2017. it only had one fork which was a soft fork that enabled Segregated Witness on it.
during 2017 however we had about 70 different altcoins that copied bitcoin's code and blockchain. BCH was one of 70 altcoins that did that. other examples are bitcoin private, gold, diamond, fast, lightning,...
97  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is difficult to accept in countries on: October 31, 2019, 08:10:43 AM
SEC is not rejecting bitcoin proposal, they are rejecting ETFs which has nothing to do with bitcoin. and they are not the decision makers when it comes to bitcoin regulations.

aside from that the whole point of bitcoin has always been that it doesn't need any country to accept it. it is decentralized and works fine with or without countries acceptance. it is only up to people to choose to use it or not.
98  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: BCH sent from ElectrumSV wallet to Poloniex on: October 29, 2019, 11:39:02 AM
Thanks Herbert, yes I did own both on the same address with the same outputs.  How does a replay attack happen and why wouldn't it have happened on the first two test transactions?  Thank you for your help.

it happens with fork coins. to know how it happens you first need some background.
in blockchain technology based on bitcoin (both of these altcoins are copies of bitcoin) your balance (or the coins you own) are in form of transaction outputs on the blockchain. so for example  when you receive BCH you receive a transaction with a value attached which is recorded on the blockchain when it is mined (or confirmed). then when you want to spend your coins you sign a transaction that includes a reference to this transaction ID.

when a fork coin is created, they copy the entire blockchain so with that they are copying the whole history including your transaction which is in one of the blocks. so now your transaction exists on two different blockchains since it was duplicated. and since it is a copy, it copies everything including how transactions work,...

so now when you create a new transaction spending that tx that was copied the resulting transaction is valid on both chains if the cahins haven't  put any kind of protection when they make their copy (which is the case here). any malicious person who runs both nodes can take transactions from one chain's memory pool and if they were valid it broadcasts them on the other network. this action is called replaying the transaction. and the protection against it is called replay protection.

it is hard to say why your other transactions didn't have the same issue. maybe no attacked picked them up to replay them on the other chain, or maybe you had included transaction outputs from blocks that were mined after the fork so the tx was invalid on the other chain.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best altcoins for 2020? on: October 29, 2019, 09:16:08 AM
It was Ethereum and Ripple for the year 2017
not by a long shot!
both are centralized and terrible projects. the only thing they have bigger than others is their market capitalization and advertisers otherwise the best pumped altcoin of 2017 have been a lot of other coins that had a much bigger return than these two coins.

Quote
and 2018/2019 had been bearish without any particular altcoins to be preferred we have seen almost all the altcoins going through bloodbath
that is because the bigger a pumped coin is the slower its dumping is going to be. for example for those two shitcoins since they were huge, their dumping took 2 years and it is not yet ended.
but all those smaller coins that got pumped even bigger, they got dumped fast and reached bottom and have been pumping all through 2018 and 2019.

Quote
Will it Ethereum again or some other altcoins like litecoin or BCH or Ripple?
historically whenever an altcoin is pumped so many times, it reaches a time where it can no longer be pumped. these coins are like that at this point. they will see pumps but they will be a very small portion of what they used to be pumped.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the difference between ICO's and IEO's on: October 29, 2019, 08:34:12 AM
the only difference is the middle letter. ICOs are scamming people by calling themselves initial "coin" offering and IEOs are scamming people by doing the same exact thing while calling themselves initial "exchange" offering.
the end result is exactly the same with different speeds at which they dump and exit. as IEOs are already supported by and listed on an exchange they can dump and run away faster.
it means that scammers will more easily deceive investors by slisting their garbage project into exchange, because IEO is more trusted than ICO.
But for large exchanges the likelihood will be very small, because scammers will not want to pay large fees only for listings in large markets. Scammers only do IEO on cheap exchanges and do not require conditions to bother them. But the most important thing is research first.

that only means bigger exchanges should be hosting bigger scams while small exchanges host smaller scams!
you have to realize that the exchange does not care at all whether an ICO is a scam or not. they only care about making the most amount of money. so they first charge a bigger fee for listing (a bigger bribe) then they also earn profit from trades that take place on their platform as everyone dumps (the trading fees).
so far in the past years that we have seen thousands of fundraisings in different names (ICO, IEO, STO,...) not even a single one of them have been legitimate. all of them are useless and got dumped after a while.
