83  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory stuck in offline mode... on: October 12, 2016, 10:49:35 AM
I moved Bitcoin and Armory database from
D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin
D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\NewArmory
to
D:\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin
D:\Armorydatabases\NewArmory

and changed the Armory shortcut from
D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe" --datadir="D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\NewArmory
to
D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe" --datadir="D:\Armorydatabases\NewArmory

I started Armory, to change the Bitcoin home dir in Armory settings from
D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin
to
D:\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin
AND THIS TIME ARMORY WAS ONLINE, during this change.

After exiting and restarting : OFFLINE !!!

I checked permissions, as you suggested : bitcoin.conf in D:\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin was not accessible : no rights to modify it, I had to take full new ownership and full permissions on this file with my new account in this new Windows install.

Now Armory is online !

THANK YOU !!!

I hope my abstract of changes may help others.

Hi

Sorry, I searched solutions on this forums, but nothing seems to work, or I don't understand...

I had a Windows 10 install with Armory 0.94.01 x64 and Bitcoin Core 0.12

Bitcoin Core was in C:\Program File\Bitcoin

Armory was in D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory

The shortcut to Armory was "D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe" --datadir="D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\NewArmory"

In Armory settings :
"Let Armory run Bitcoin-Core..." was checked
Bitcoin install dir was C:\Program File\Bitcoin
Bitcoin home dir was D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin

All was working fine.

After formatting and reinstalling Windows 10 :

I installed again Bitcoin Core 0.12 to C:\Program File\Bitcoin

I installed again Armory 0.94.01 x64 to D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory

I configured Armory shortcut as "D:\Program Files (x86)\Armory\ArmoryQt.exe" --datadir="D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\NewArmory"

I configured Armory settings as :
"Let Armory run Bitcoin-Core..." checked
Bitcoin install dir : C:\Program File\Bitcoin
Bitcoin home dir was : D:\Program Files (x86)\Armorydatabases\Bitcoin

As before, so...

But now, when starting Armory it stays stuck in Offline (my wallets are correctly opened).

I installed Armory 0.94.1 over 0.94.01 and Bitcoin 0.13 over 0.12, same config, but no changes...

Any idea, please !??

Thnak you :-)

You had my support (you can read my posts) till you decided to go further without us. I still remember your noobish question about crypto on IRC channel one year ago. And now you are expert in Cloak Smiley Btw, technically I'm still your supporter, I have a bag full of Cloak which are useless to me... Nobody want to buy it and all of you "developers" are occupied with something different than Cloak...

panda86 looks very bigger bigger troller

Panda86 only writes facts

fact : he has a lot of Cloak, he is so a big investor and so, supporter (and his disappointment following some bad news, decisions or broken promises is normal)

fact : his Cloaks are useless and zero value, there is no interest in Cloak from noboby now

fact : when people here ask too much questions or criticize Cloak, there are quickly agressive or mocking reactions from team or people close to Cloak team, but no good answers (not really Peace and love philosophy neither)

fact : the silence of Cloak team is a mystery

fact : either the Cloak dev team has abandonned Cloak and do nothing else, either dev team has abandonned Cloak and is working on something else instead on working on Cloak, despite all the speech "Buy Cloak - best tech - bright future - best coder - final wallet is ready - PR is paid, ready and coming - all is OK" (facts).

Sorry but I don't know how we could believe things are going to get better. And all this monumental failure and lies destroy any credibility in any new or parallel project from Cloak team, how could we have trust again. If the team is not able to complete the present project (told us almost finished... like Alty), nor even repair what is broken (OneMobile...), how could we even imagine them succeeding to start a new project from zero and support them, what a joke.

For as we see (facts !), Cloak is at same level of when Alty gave up the project to Cashmen in a previous October.
Final wallet missing
Zero value of Cloak
Zero interest of people
Zero use of Cloak
Only promises or pretty videos
Missing paid and promised PR
Dev team missing, not answering, or starting other projects
One Market at same level of dev as with Alty

Even worse : Cloak code was opensource with Alty and we were able to have a look at all and see progress or problems, now all is hidden mysterious code.

As far as we know, Cashmen could even be Alty... and the present situation a continued Cloak scam long term operation from the same people as beginning.

I have a lot of facts, conclusions, thinkings, many questions on Cloak/OneC/new project, some humble advices, and even maybe a microscopic way to save the Cloak project with a real life use of Cloak, but I don't have time to write it correctly here for now, way too big text. And I have now other big successful projects in my life, Cloak is no more one of my priority, even if I still "like" it because it was my first involvement in a cryptocurrency team, 15 months ago, and because I'm still an investor too... but nothing changed during this 15 last months, things even got way worse !

I would be happy to be wrong, or that somebody prove me I'm wrong, but all the facts and other red flags prove me there is a high probability I'm right.

Just fyi:

Monero was copy from bytecoin.
shadowcoin was copy from blackcoin & later monero

So you are wrong. Crypto is copy cat world!

I know Monero is Cryptonote based (natively including ring signatures), very improved and with new features later and still now.
I know Shadowcash is a merge of Bitcoin base and ring signatures system taken from Cryptonote.
I know Cloakcoin is Bitcoin base + Coinjoin code configured to use random nodes, + Onion routing (taken from Tor ?)

What I wanted to say, is, once your cryptography, technology, system and code are innovative, improved, complex, huge... there is no interrest for somebody or a band of people to clone this coin. Too much work to understand it perfectly, modify a little bit to say it's different and new (and still working...), and impossible to reach the community level power of the original opensource coin that they copied. Each dev team and community of the original opensource coins will always understand better and control better and improve better and faster their sourcecode and be a step forward of those who copy and have not the same experience, skills and community. It's why Monero and Shadowcash are not copied now. The smartest way to get benefits of their code is to join the project, help it and get money in return, instead of wasting time, money energy to make a pale copy always a step behind the strong original.

Of course, there is always a risk. But if the secret code of Cloak is so fantastic, I don't know what you are afraid of. And a lot of people could help to find and fix the bugs and flaws, instead of one dev (yes, statistically there ARE such many unfound bugs).

A this stage, nothing to lose, much to win. Other coin are opensource and prosper from community contribution, without being copied. Of course, it's not compatible with dictatorship.

And, it's the beauty of opensource, we could even dream that a new Cloak contributor could merge a system like opensource InstantX from Dash or Zerotime from VCash (Vanillacoin) into Cloak, and it would definitively be a terrific coin.

Of course, all this is supposing that Cloak's Bitcoin+nodelessCoinjoin+Onion is really a anon system as great and revolutionnary as everybody says (but nobody in public is able to verify that because of closed source, so, no interrest in Cloak). The original Coinjoin has flaws in privacy and anonymity. If the improved nodeless Coinjoin by Cloak dev + Onion is a combination proven to be really innovative and secure, and with new original code, you should no worry to be copied, like I said above. You'll attract people, who will help Cloak, success, without copying. Better to get onboard the train than re-inventing the wheel from zero...
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLOAK]CloakCoin|X13|PoSA3|CloakShield|Trustless Anonymous|Security Audit on: September 20, 2016, 04:29:42 PM
Polo don't want cloak,because they think that it's a scam coin from 2014 :D

Plus we have a very low volume and cloak is not of big interest for them

Polo don't want cloak, because they need to see the source code.

https://poloniex.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/1000229325-how-can-i-get-a-coin-listed-on-poloniex-

The low volume should not be a problem, as 5-10 altcoins are on Poloniex with lower volume than Cloak (in average for some months).

So let's opensource this fucking code, to have a small chance to let Cloak live and prosper. Last chance and hope, or definitvely dead. As for now, nobody want this closed useless code and there is no interest in Cloak. Nothing to loose at this stage of failure. Only good could happen, if something happens. Nothing could be worse as yet, for all we know, because we are left in dark, like always.

Monero and Shadowcash are opensource, and nobody copy the code to make clones or stealth the technology. As creator of the code and specialists of the cryptography behind Cloak (like XMR or SDC experts teams are for their coins), Cloak dev team will always understand better Cloak technology and have an advance compared to guys who want to steal tech and copy-paste the cloak innovation. Not worth the work to clone, when the original team will (?) always be a step before you.

What are you afraid of.

Or, give to Poloniex the last sourcecode they ask, to let them accept Cloak on Polo, and don't publish this code publicly, if you want. Ask Polo to not diffuse the code. Or make them sign a paper of No Disclosure Agreement, some lawyer expert in intellectual property should be able to write this for cheap. I even think you could find free models of NDA on internet...

What are you afraid of.

After Cloak is on Polo, release the final 2.0 wallet and launch the PR buzz you told us for more than a year that you have money prepared for, and the PR office only waiting for your autorisation to launch the PR they already prepared.

I had to speak the 9 September with support of https://anycoindirect.eu/en (allows you to sell/buy some coins with a lot of payment systems directly in Euros), and I asked at the end of conversation if they plan to add Monero :

"Yes, we are working on the integration. We expect to launch XMR trading next week or early the week after. When we launch XMR trading we will announce this on our website and social media."

It's a great site, with great customer support, I have worked with them for quite a long time.
