The miner! In all it's glory.

(Edit: I'll just post links to the image on my dropbox. Too spammy with just the images.)

(Edit2: Yes, I'm aware I put btctalk.org instead of bitcointalk.org. Ooops. My bad.)

(Edit3: Removed again. Will repost later.)
82  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 09, 2014, 01:28:10 AM
Could you take some shots of the machine and post here?

Certainly. I'll send you what I sent them. I'll post them in a post of their own. Took quite a few, and want to separate it from this post since I'm replying to multiple people at once. Don't want it to be too spammy.

wow. how are they shipping these things?

Was shipped UPS, packed with broken styrofoam in a box that was put together using duct tape, which is just odd. Duct tape? *shrugs*

So, the good news is, I received my miner today.  The bad news? It came in absolute shit condition. Damage to the miner boards, pieces loose and or missing in the chassis...

I contacted Jim to rectify this. Hopefully something can be done about it. I'll update you guys again once I receive a response.
84  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 08, 2014, 02:35:52 AM
Finally got my tracking number. Seems that the miner is a few towns over. I'll either get it tomorrow or the next day, and I plan on posting a review, good or bad, as soon as I've been mining with it for a while.

Also, talked to Jim on the phone. Seemed like a good enough guy to me. Was definitely nice talking to someone from AMT for once.

Anyways, I'll post back when I get my miner. I'm sure you're all going to want pictures and all that crap, so I'll see what I can do about all that as well. At least this is a pretty good sign. Maybe they'll start moving through the queue pretty quickly now. One could hope, at least.
85  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: With so many miner in the market, what would be the BEST BUY out there??? on: January 08, 2014, 12:17:17 AM
BFL has been shipping in stock units on time, but to be honest it's rather pointless. Even at under $1000 a piece now, the 50GHash miners (which seem to run steady at 55 - 58) won't have any chance of making an ROI at this point. I would have voted for them if this conversation took place a month ago, but now... yeesh.

Honestly, though, if you're wanting to do this on a hobby level, you're better off realizing you're very unlikely to make an ROI unless you pay way under manufacturer prices for these devices. Your best bet is doing some calculations and trying to make some deals on second-hand equipment. It's what I've been sticking to lately, and I plan on continuing to do so.
86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 08, 2014, 12:11:42 AM
frankly I would rather have them head down building my machine than chatting with you.

Frankly, I don't care what you would rather have. If you want to get something done, make it happen. It's what I did. If you don't like it, too bad. Bitching and nagging here with no action done elsewhere won't get you anywhere.
87  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 07, 2014, 10:55:41 PM
Well, here's a slight update on my situation. Jim contacted me today regarding my order of the 128GH machine. Still have yet to hear about the 1.2GH machine. Not sure if it was brought on by the rather nasty email I sent or not, but a response is a response nonetheless. Apologies all around to AMT if they read this, but surely they could understand where I was coming from.

Apparently he said he would send the tracking number as soon as he got to work this morning. That was at 9:30 AM. 3:30 PM and still no tracking number, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt anyway. If it was sent out yesterday, with the shipping method I used, I should get it by tomorrow afternoon.

Since the order was placed on December 1st (at least, according to their website), it should have shipped at the 29th. At the time, 128GH would not have been able to achieve a positive ROI by the end of the machine's lifetime. I have written to Jim asking about their Miner Protection Agreement, and will be waiting on a response to the upgrade inquiry. Not the biggest issue in the world in my mind - at least I'm getting my miner soon - but it would be nice to see they're willing to back up their own agreements.

I'll post again once I receive my miner with pictures as well as some actual performance details. I'll also update once I hear about the MPA. Hopefully things check out.

Why don't they hire someone to be on the phone (or email) all day?

Maybe because they are start-up without a lot of venture capital backing upfront to fund support properly, wages are a large cost sink. They are betting on organic growth, advertising...maybe eventually through word of mouth / reviews...

Except you can outsource support for dirt cheap. I've done it before. Anyone else can do the same thing. It's not that big of a deal, or a very large expense.

yeah, that would go over well with the nut jobs on this site. Foreign bank account, address in the US, support outsourced to India.

and then what? support says they are still working on it. everyone is in the same place and the company has more cost to tack onto the units.

Point. But there's still no excuse that they can't respond to emails. In my case, it seems that they're quite selective in what they respond to. The only emails I've had responded to were two that basically said "give me my miner or give me a refund." One was met with negativity, and the other was responded to with "your miner was sent out yesterday."  :p

Ok, boys and girls, I'm reviewing the machine in another thread.

Here ya go. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=403223.new#new

Glad to see you got yours. Just hoping people who actually ORDERED some get theirs sometime soon. With proof, of course. One of the people refused to post proof of ownership due to "security reasons." Whatever that means.

I'd just be happy to receive an email or a damn phone call. Other people claim to be able to contact them, yet I haven't in a month of trying to contact them multiple times. I just don't get it.
91  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official Thread: AMT on: January 07, 2014, 08:52:22 AM
Folks,

To be clear,  there are 2 classes of products AMT is building.

If you bought the non-1.2 THs, then these are based on BitFury,  you should be receiving them withing the 3 weeks delivery time they claim.

My 128Ghash that I sent as a test order is now three weeks PAST my "3 weeks delivery time they claim."

I can not get in touch with them by phone, or by email. The only response I got was both unprofessional and rather insulting, where they say, and I quote, "it isn't our fault that our customers don't know how to use a forum."
92  Economy / Computer hardware / Just sending out some feelers. on: January 06, 2014, 05:24:10 AM
How much would people pay for the following:

1x BFL Single 50GHash - Runs at 56 GHash.
1x BFL Single 60GHash - Runs at 56 GHash as well.

Both are in full working condition, with original power supplies.

Depending on what the next few days of number crunching provides, I may end up selling mine instead of waiting and letting their entire usability period vanishes.
93  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS/Gauging Interest -2x KnC Jupiters (November batch) - USA on: January 06, 2014, 02:42:20 AM
Yup, my bad. I'm easily confused these days. Trying to do too much shit at once. Either way, 200GHash for 2.2 BTC.  :p

i notice your profile says you are in atlanta ga me too what area are you in i live on the east side of atlanta

Somewhere in Coweta county. Should give you a general idea, at least. Very close to Atlanta, but not quite in it.

So, tell me why I should pay $11000 to $12000 for these jupiters when I can get 3x 200Ghash Avalons for half that amount.
96  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for PHP/HTML/CSS/Any Database developer. on: January 05, 2014, 11:23:08 AM
Its actually hard to figure out what your looking for exactly, you want this and don't want this, too be straight with you, you might not even find anybody willing to work with you on here, again with the attitude believe me i have tried, lots of professional developers  are on this forum, and i mean real professionals, i worked with some of them, but they wont give a damn about your project if you keep setting rules, they will just read and move to the next page, i am a web designer myself but not as best as others on this forum, i have done few coding for small time companies anyways try http://iwill4coin.com might not be ideal for you now but who knows you might change your mind!

You are right. The "spec" is as clear as mud. Many people that want sites / services developed don't seem to understand that developers need to work from a real spec / design, not "it doesn't matter what I want made".

The fact of the matter is that if a developer were interested in the first place, they'd contact me requesting more information, as many already have. As a developer myself, I'm well aware of what's needed to be stated immediately and what can wait for interested parties. I would take up the project myself, only other endeavors are taking up most of my time.
97  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: altcoins Comparison... on: January 05, 2014, 10:48:00 AM
Hello TehLuNaTiC! Welcome to the forums.

The best sites to check for the current profitable cryptocurrencies right now would probably be the following, in no particular order:

http://dustcoin.com/
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency
http://coinchoose.com/

Note that these sites pretty much give guesses as to actual profitability, and the actual profitability depends on the listed exchange's actual volume and trade value.

Cryptsy and CoinEX are the two exchanges I usually use myself. There are a few others, and certain altcoins have coin-specific exchanges. It really depends on what coin you want to trade as to which exchange would be the best for you.
98  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can't get any "accepted" points on: January 05, 2014, 10:29:06 AM
Description:
I am running GUIMiner with 2 amd 7970s using miners on openCL.  I am on slush's pool and am using multibit for the wallet.  I have watched several youtube vids on how to set it all up and have followed their instructions to the letter.

Problem:
I've ran both GPUs for over an hour and did not get any "accepted" points (and no "stale" points either).  What could be causing this?

Probably the fact that you're using GPUs. If you're wanting to mine bitcoins, you can't do so using a GPU at all anymore. Even most ASICs are finding it harder and harder to put in the same amount of shares, as the network is growing faster and faster as new, more efficient ASICs are being released.
99  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for PHP/HTML/CSS/Any Database developer. on: January 05, 2014, 06:53:36 AM
What I want done isn't really the primary concern. Either they can do what I listed above or not. There is no gray area where it comes to those. For further clarification, this will be the basis of a framework which will be used for multiple sites I plan on making or having made, whether time permits for me to make it myself or not.

but that doesn't mean they can do your work easily, Unless if work is same.

If they can't take their knowledge and make something different from what they made before, then they're clearly copy and paste developers, in which case, they need not apply. At all. I want coding competency, not general computer literacy skills.

Like, I have completed lot of coding works, but still I can say, most of them don't like to show previous works, because it can be anonymous, or private works.

There's no reason anyone should hide work they've done before unless under an NDA, which typically only lasts until the project launches give or take a year, or unless they simply aren't proud of their work. In which case, they also need not apply.
100  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for PHP/HTML/CSS/Any Database developer. on: January 05, 2014, 05:20:44 AM
You are expecting people to produce a site first then pay them? Good luck finding a developer that will do that ....

And yeah, I understand finding a good devver is a nasty business. Just look at freelancer.com, full of scammers pretending they know every language under the sun when in reality, they know next to nothing.

No, I'm honestly looking for people with a decent site or two under their belt already. Hence why I'm looking mostly for devs with portfolios. I've already turned down a few offers because nobody would provide any proof of competency.  If they're competent enough to demand a decent payment, they should already have a portfolio of sorts to begin with.

Their payment will be based on past works, not what they'd be making for me. If I like what I see, I'll have no problems splurging. If I don't, I suppose I could do it myself, or they'd have to deal with working for less. Lack of time is the only thing stopping me from doing so.
