81  Economy / Gambling / Re: Is PrimeDice really (provably)fair? Well, it isn't. on: June 23, 2014, 12:55:31 PM
This isn't really an accusation that PrimeDice is cheating. Just that their system is a bit flawed. More that we can't know by default if results are fair unless one changes his own seed for every roll. It can be provably fair, but only in that specific circumstance. A provably fair system shouldn't have a cheating possibility under any scenario, regardless of if the site cheats or not.

PrimeDice: changes secret every roll - makes the user have to do much work to verify (too hot)
CoinRoll: changes secret once per day - makes the user wait too long to verify (too cold)
Just-Dice: changes secret when the user asks to change it (just right)

Dooglus, I don't think Coinroll is "too cold". Doesn't JD provides a default client seed too? Need to change client seed once, good to go forever. Much better.

Fixed daily secret for everyone seems good. It makes it pretty much impossible to cheat players under any circumstances. Most people don't need to verify and won't do it immediately after betting or won't do it at all. The daily secret cannot be be changed without altering all previous bets for that day. Finding a secret that match all bets for the day would simply be impossible. We also don't provide a default client seed, avoiding any possible claim we chose one with lucky numbers favorable to the house for the current day/server secret. We simply use the user's deposit tx ID. Put simply, Coinroll users don't need to do anything to be on the safe side and we don't have to provide a default secret.

The whole point is everyone don't need to even verify and often most people won't. So archived bets are provided (not simply one by one bet lookup on the website, downlaodble archives for easy checking with script). Pretty much anyone can just run a check on the archives and report anything suspicious. When people are playing, they want results instantly. Verifying bet timing isn't as important. If you want to check that, you can always check bets in batch later. Being able to verify them immediately wouldn't change their loss/win. No new information. Just not as time sensitive, unlike betting which needs to be instant, so Coinroll use that system. Just seems like a stronger provably fair system. We have yet to see any demand for instant verification.

Bump

Would still need some more vote, have a more representative sample.

This depends a lot on where the ad will be. Without knowing it, I'd go with original.

Well just all around, on various websites. So no specific place. As such, probably going to be mostly white/pale backgrounds like here.

Still need votes, too little sample. Thank you.
86  Other / Off-topic / [POLL] Coinroll Color Scheme on: June 13, 2014, 10:45:16 AM
Hello,

we would like to receive feedback on color scheme to use for Coinroll's ads. Between the original colors and these other options, which one do you prefer?

Thank you for your vote. You may also leave comments.

87  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BTC-BOND - 0.03% Daily on: May 25, 2014, 09:39:20 PM
I'm sorry. Buyback has ground to a halt. Coinroll was supposed to get IPOed early winter with a brand new website and tons of new features. Unfortunately, it never happened and Scrat has gone missing. Fortunately he transferred ownership to new owners prior to disappearing. Everything was going smoothly until then.

I still owe 178.44 BTC out of close to 400 BTC, of which 162.93 are owed to 3 large creditors and the remaining 15.51 BTC is owed to 37 small creditors who mostly haven't claimed.

I will need to talk to my 3 large holders. I would like to renegotiate the deal with the large holders and get approval to simply pay smaller creditors first.

Now   "Database allocation error"  What is it?

It's the server running out of space with so many accounts and bets. A few bots have been playing last days. We're upgrading.
89  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPO Launch April 16 2014] Symmetric Step Trading on: May 02, 2014, 12:28:13 AM
I think I missed something here.

Probably this is what people are meaning when they say Namworld default from original Bitfunder contract.

@NotLambchop and @sporket who are not scientists and do not understand that absence of evidence does not equal evidence of absence. You make many accusations and say they are obvious and reasoned but really are just prejudice because you cannot understand how somebody could make competent offering from successful research and you can only understand that they must be scammers. Now even when I say put your money where your mouth is and set up a bet because you are so certain we are scammers still you just use mouth and make no bet. Now you say wait for me instead to set up bet but I am not the one making false accusations because I can only understand people being bad people. This is what I thought that you have only mouth and you have shown this is true.

Now we go back to others who would like to invest and spend no more time on loud mouths who pretend certainty.

I mean among so many outright scams to choose for, that you mention me being late on repayment on loan repayment based on a single post in the middle of a thread.
90  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: April 30, 2014, 12:36:37 AM
Nothing was changed by the developer. It appears it was a problem with the script and latest bitcoind, which was updated shortly before the tookover. Possibly the same thing that impacted Prime-Dice.

Our developer is getting familiar with the script. Future issues will be resolved more quickly hopefully.

Deposits have been re-enabled and everyone impacted should have received a credit. It won't appear in transactions list, the balance was manually updated. Everyone affected, please check your balance to see if it's been updated.
91  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: April 21, 2014, 06:04:55 PM
Primedice fixed their deposit issues quickly so what is going on with this site? I was gonna test it out but not if they don't fix this guys issue first.

Do you have anything to report on the deposit issue?  Is it a Bitcoin-wide issue?  Odd that the same thing would affect PrimeDice and CoinRoll at the same time, but I've not heard of any problems on Just-Dice.  Could it be a DDoS issue perhaps?

Bad timing, Coinroll just got taken over and our dev had to travel and also got sick. We don't have systems in place yet for support staff to check system's deposits and provide credits for such issues. The dev hasn't had the time to get familiar with the Coinroll script, let alone start fixing anything within.

So, need to get that fixed, then lots of things to do and new stuff to add.

Deposits will be disabled until everything works again and the few affected depositors are made good on their deposits.

We have put an announcement regarding deposits on our thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=572544.0

This thread is no longer used. Thank you.

You have two complaints on the other thread for deposits not showing up.

I have updated the main post with announcement regarding deposit issues.

It should be 1 satoshi minimum bet still. From here it looks like the setting is correct.
95  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BitVPS on: April 18, 2014, 12:39:29 AM
The choice to move forward with the buyout was made for a variety of reasons, amongst them being the financial burden that came with paying 30% of salaries as dividends. Employees that work full time do not deserve to receive a pay check that would amount to less than some one flipping burgers at a fast food restaurant.
The most important reason was when we began to question the legality of operating an unregulated security. This is against the law. We must abide by the laws of the land. That being said, it was the recommendation of our lawyer to perform a buyout for this exact reason.

Employees need not be paid with dividends. You can pay salaries and not give out dividends. The profit shares offer no burden as they are not required to be paid monthly if there is no income excess.

Ownership is not currently trading. It does not need to operate as a publicly trading security. I know BitVPS needed to put that back in order. It's just a matter of determining who owns how much of the business. That's what needs to be put in order. I refuse a buyout.
96  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTC-TC] BitVPS on: April 17, 2014, 10:33:38 PM
I know BitVPS's income currently hardly covers for salaries to have at least a few support staff for 24/7 coverage and at the same time buy more servers for expansion. But how are the shares getting BitVPS in bankruptcy?

- After paying 300 BTC for 12.5% of the company to RG ($3000 at the times admiteddly)
- Spending loaned funds (denominated in BTC) on servers to reduce BitVPS expenses and helping make it profitable enough so we could start buying more servers with income. Which I then got repayed at a lower rate since the loan to BitVPS was in USD for the servers (Which means I lost a good chunk of money to get BitVPS back on track.) RG's investors made BitVPS go on and you and me had losses to make it go further into turning a profit.
- Working my way to 17.8% through distribution of owners' shares on a work ratio basis before I left BitVPS after about a year.

I am now offered 178k x 0.025 USD or 4450 USD for almost 1/5th of BitVPS?

- Despite multiple servers owned
- Good client base
- Good brand
- Good potential

There's not much assets (~10000 if my memory is correct) and current profit margin is small and didn't consider paying salaries to owners, but at this point, considering the brand and potential, I strongly disagree that BitVPS is worth 25000 USD. Especially considering the growth BitVPS is enjoying and that 1 year of averaged dividend is far from sufficient. After all you've put into it, would you really take your prorata of $25000 and leave? Honestly? You had somewhere around 20% if I remember correctly, afaik. 500k of shares where never assigned to anybody and their dividends put in a pool to distribute to owners based on work put in. You get 50% of the business added forever to your 20% and buy the remaining 30% for 7500 USD. That's a heck of a sweet deal to be sole owner of BitVPS. You put in the most work, you got paid 200k in shares. How has over 50% of public shares agreed already? Since when are you the owner of the 500k? When I left we had already agreed the 500k was not to be paid out to anybody and as the sole working manager, you'd get paid any dividends disbursed to them.

If paying dividends was such an issue and BitVPS needs 100% of income for expenses and expansion, why not just withold any disbursement of dividends until BitVPS can do so? That is not out of question. If BitVPS can't operate without even paying dividends, why buy it at all or keep running it instead of liquidating? If that was the case, why buy it back to keep losing month after month money? You know it's not like that. You're paying a few peanuts more than the servers BitVPS own are worth (~3x), dismissing the worth and potential of BitVPS and the value of the investment made in it.

I am officially very angry at you. You've just damaged BitVPS's brand to top it.

Edit: I thought I had already argued with you again and again it was not a good idea to dismiss shares or buyback for peanuts. That it would be too damaging to BitVPS's brand and not okay.
97  Economy / Securities / Re: [IPO Launch April 16 2014] Symmetric Step Trading on: April 17, 2014, 09:05:39 PM
The two Symmetric Step partners have been "lurkers" on this forum since mid 2013. We were here during the rise and fall of BTC-TC and during the fall of BitFunder. We saw Ukyo and Namworld default and we saw the TradeFortress long con come to its conclusion.

I think I missed something here.
98  Economy / Gambling / Re: PrimeDice.com | 500M+ Bets | 350k+ BTC Wagered | Free BTC | 1% Edge | Instant on: April 16, 2014, 09:33:46 PM
Odd, PvP has been in the works for months too for Coinroll. Are you sure you are not Scrat, Stunna? Multiple personality disorder? =P </joke>

But seriously, there was a Coinroll v2 in the works when management changed. Coinroll might have that done before you, just like the release of Coinroll was done shortly before PrimeDice's. Congrats on betting volume tho.

Why 0% edge? Wouldn't all players just start gambling PvP all the time to never have any negative edge?
99  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: April 16, 2014, 07:48:06 PM
Glad we waited for the escrow to come back as he paid the raffle straight away when he came back. At least it avoids any concerns of double payment should we have decided to pay and try to get John K. not to send the escrow.

Stunna, this was an advertising campaign, so not necessarily users. But yes, it was an urgent matter to resolve. I will delete these posts once everyone has seen the notice as it's already noted in Scrat's old thread which is where most signature sellers where keeping track of the situation. I'd really like to keep this thread for reviews/comments/question about the Coinroll service itself.

100  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll.it - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: April 16, 2014, 09:20:21 AM
Is there any official information as to what happened here?

I was asked to help keep the signature contest honest by making up a random secret key and keeping it secret, and did so.

And now it has all apparently gone wrong. Why isn't Scrat saying anything about it?  Or has he, and I missed it?

The last I heard was around a month ago when he asked me to sign a message listing the winners and their addresses with my PGP key, which I did.

Scrat already sent the signed list to John K. It appears he's just missing for all outstanding escrow. It's unsure if John is going to come back or anything. Apparently this raffle would have been better off without any escrow at all.

The move to new owners was in the works since early November 2013, 2 months before the end of raffle. John K. not showing up has been a big hurdle.

SCRAT ACORNS HAS SOLD COINROLL.IT AND LEFT

wow nice scam we got here then

Except it technically occurred prior to the end of the raffle, at least agreement. Although transfer was delayed pending resolution of a few issues including this one. It had to go throught regardless of current situation with John K.
