81  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 06, 2012, 11:03:42 PM

Do you really believe these govt thugs are going to leave the truly innocent parties (such as myself) alone once they have their data?  I don't.
If you are innocent then there is no crime to investigate. What do you believe they are going to come after you for?

Who knows?  They don't understand what they're dealing with (bitcoin), and may well make up whatever bullshit charge(s) they feel like, and there will be little I can do about it.

Would you feel comfortable handing your data over in this situation?  I don't.

Bicoin is not that difficult to understand but I can understand your fears about the irrationality of some policy enforcers. I personally dont have these fears and will give my id if necessary. if they did lean on nefario and they have access to the db and to the server logs they wont have much problem tracking me through my mail account.

Any way as far as we know this is scenarios are not happening. people are just imagining and exagerating stuff and none of the people who really know what is happening are willing to tell it straight.

Hi inaba
Thanks for the update which sounds good and will work out well for me. Seems like these assets will be managed more like a mining Co-op.

Once BFLS and BFLS.RIG have been combined in to asset will these still be redeamable for physcial hardware?
Have you worked out the ammount of coupons per phsyical device?

Where will find your email address?

]The AML /Terrorism issue is to stop funds being paid back to a laundery or terrorist. You dont have to compare it to where the funds came from the exchange just has to have proof of who they are passing that money back too. Ideally in order to comply with AML they should have had those details before they accepted deposits, they didnt do that and it seems they are trying to cover there backs by taking these steps. IF that is what is actually happening not much has been reliably confirmed yet. Much of the converstation in these threads is conjecture, speculation and FUD.

If that's the case, then wouldn't all of those who sent money in to GLBSE be facing the same charges?  Afterall, how many of us have any idea who Nefario is? Not to mention who is on the other side of the securities we purchased.

Yes, If it turned that Nefario is a terrorist or laundering money then we could probably be investigated too. We have no indication of this happening though.

I think he will need full legal ID to pay back coins and shares.  Otherwise he risks being charged with possible money laundering and/or funding terrorism.  Tho he won't disclose that information unless requested by the government/police.

Sorry, that doesn't hold water.  He didn't get any ID to get the money in, so the ID means nothing now.  What's he going to compare it to?

The only way to have any faith it's being returned to the depositors is to return it to the same address.

I understand people worries about scams due to bitcoins history. But nothing about glbse situation would add up to it being a scam. there would not be enough bitcoins held to make it worth the while to cut and run, and the perpetual income from trade and listing fees would be more worthwhile to keep the exchange functioning.
87  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nefario on: October 06, 2012, 03:34:18 PM
@Theymos, you seem to be the only one here from the meeting who can give a straight answer

I tried to remove him as CEO, but there wasn't enough shareholder support. 5-6 people supported removing him against three (including Nefario) who didn't, but our side didn't have enough shares for a motion. Three large shareholders weren't at the meeting, so it was difficult to get the 51% required.

Later on in the meeting, Nefario somehow managed to convince 1-2 of the people who had supported removing Nefario, which is how he was able to pass a motion to order me to give him the treasury funds. So I doubt a motion to remove Nefario is possible now even if the absent shareholders voted.

It doesn't matter anyway, since Nefario said that he would ignore the shareholders and shut down GLBSE. And shutting down GLBSE is against the bylaws, so he needs a 66% vote. He didn't even pursue a 50% vote.

What would I do with the money if I kept it? I don't have the user database.

what was nefario's reasoning for closing GLBSE?

He managed to convince some of you to support him, so he must have had a good argument, what was it?

Q:I'm a GLBSE user, what about my assets and my bitcoin?

You will be able to get back your bitcoin, and if you want to reveal your username, email, and a bitcoin address to accept payments with, you can continue your relationship with the issuer of any assets you hold.

Does this mean that btc will be returned at IPO price? I'm confused.
How will we have our Bitcoins returned that are tied up in assets?

the Bitcoins that you had in your account will be returned. Bitcoins that were used to buy assets cannot be returned by GLBSE because they were traded for the asset,  the issuer of that asset has those bitcoins.

Hence

email support@glbse.com

However we dont have any information on the issuers in order to contact them in the first place, so its immposible to do whats being asked, unless we can either access glbse or glbse emails each user with all their details.

You are not being asked to contact the issuer. They are working on a way (some sort of system) for the issuer and share holder to continue cooperating. you just need to "reveal your email. username and BTC address...".

see the bolded text below.

Q: What does this mean if I'm an issuer?

We will do everything in our power to make the process of moving off GLBSE as smooth as possible, we are currently working on a simple, safe, and easy to use method that will allow you to continue your relationship with your asset holders

excellent.

i agree again about the tor i2p and the OT option. but at present i dont think OT is mature enough for new users to handle.

Edit: reassuring to know that they replied so quickly.

But I cant remember the assets I hold, or even my username it was all autosaved, we need access even if all transactions are locked out in order to get the information.

Does anyone have a list of the issuers?
you should be able to see your auto saved username through your browsers settings. or even your sign up emails. i am assuming the list of your assets and account balance will be emailed to you. when you give your email username and btc address.

Yes I have just emailed them although I see the GLBSE problem catching up to them.  If a I2p and/or Tor exact clone of the exchange doesn't pop up that everyone can just long into like normal then I think Open-Transactions are the best way to go.  As long as its not too difficult to set up, maintain and attract new investors.
Agreed. although, I dont think we know exactly what the problem is. only rumours so far. unless you have more info, i know you were closer to nefario.

Get one person to AML for lots of different accounts for a cut.

Because breaking even more laws in relation to an organisation which is already under scrutiny is a great idea.

Right now, everyone has to work on the assumption that everything sketchy to do with GBLSE is going to come out in the wash, including any illegal proposals put forward on this forum.

We havent broken ANY laws. Show me one fucking law that mentions bitcoin specifically.

"A security is "any note, stock, treasury stock, security future, bond, debenture, certificate of interest or participation in any profit-sharing agreement or in any oil, gas, or other mineral royalty or lease, any collateral-trust certificate, preorganization certificate or subscription, transferable share, investment contract, voting-trust certificate, certificate of deposit for a security, any put, call, straddle, option, or privilege on any security, certificate of deposit, or group or index of securities (including any interest therein or based on the value thereof), or any put, call, straddle, option, or privilege entered into on a national securities exchange relating to foreign currency, or in general, any instrument commonly known as a 'security'; or any certificate of interest or participation in, temporary or interim certificate for, receipt for, or warrant or right to subscribe to or purchase, any of the foregoing; but shall not include currency or any note, draft, bill of exchange, or bankers' acceptance which has a maturity at the time of issuance of not exceeding nine months, exclusive of days of grace, or any renewal thereof the maturity of which is likewise limited." - Section 3a item 10 of the 1934 Act."
this could include just about anything that is a reciept of value such eg amazon, iTunes gift cards.

does anybody know how the new legislation for crowd funding would apply in this situation ?

When a thread like this gets to be 14 pages long (or more), does anyone actually read EVERY post or do people just read the last few and feel the need to chime in?
YES!
me too

I apologize for the lack of notice and the downtime, but there isn't much choice.

I hold shares of ltc-global so take an interest in this.

will this be an auction or open bids as this would potentially increase the price.
99  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Intersango Exchange on: October 01, 2012, 03:17:31 PM

...

Ok, so i have some question.

I can see on the status page that transfers are not available but this does not tell me enough about what is happening.

Some basic information would be helpful: (Tansparency is good even if it means you have to admit mistakes or problems)

Have Intersango team made enquiries about a new banking account for Intersango?
Have they got any banks approval to do business with them?
If so
how far in this process are they?
How long is the process expected to take?

Are the allegations of drug dealing causing problems in establishing a new banking account?

In ToS there is provision to close account and be paid by cheque, is this still available?

I raised a ticket and asked:

Quote
Do you have any feel for when, if ever, UK transfers will become available again?
I am not asking for a precise statement - a vague indication would be enough... "in a couple of months", "this year sometime", "in a year or two", "not likely to happen" - whatever!

The response I got, from Patrick, was:

Quote
We have no ETA

Not stunningly informative!

In case you haven't noticed we have absolutely no control over the actions of the banks.

When I say we have no ETA that is because I truly and genuinely cannot give a real estimate.

If you would prefer that I lied to you then how about this.

Tuesday October 16th at 09:01:45.

Feel better? I'm guessing not.

this attitude stinks! what a shame for intersango, i can only see this failing miserably now.

Intersango is now fail IMO.

all my funds were removed at a premium cost to myself.
