Can't blame them, bitcoin cannot function as a payment system right now, way too slow, outrageous fees.

btc needs to get its shit together, it's a huge embarassment when companies are choosing other cryptos over btc

What’s wrong with sending a transaction across the world for half a cent on the main chain?   Is that too expensive for you?

half a cent? it might be better now than it was a few weeks ago, but BCH and the majority of altcoins are capable of cheaper and faster confirmation times. It shouldnt obstruct BTC being a payment option though, just a costlier one

sent a PM. Ive got an unfunded/sealed 0BTC Gold Casascius 'Bullion bar' that is probably as mint state as possible, sealed in the original plastic film and kept in a small envelope all this time.

I paid a large BTC value for it years back, so im curious what the market is like now with BTCUSD skyhigh

How much faster is the 4415U CPU vs 3855U?

id say if youre running windows, youll save yourself a bit of headache by having a more capable cpu. for linux the lower tier is ideal/enough

UPDATE:

I just wasnt satisfied by the previous airtite and my mediocre photo skills so i took the time to transfer to a new/better airtite slab and take some exposed photographs in the process.

Newly-purchased lambo for scale.

It is still unclear to me:

Can I use a wallet that starts with a 3? It was generated by Electrum.

This is a multisig address, correct?

I can't see why you couldn't mine to it, but it seems a bit of extra effort for a pool payout. I don't run Eligius, so don't take this as a definitive answer. I never tried to mine to a multisig address Cheesy

It might be a segwit address.
90  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Eligius: 0% Fee BTC, 105% PPS NMC, No registration, CPPSRB on: January 15, 2018, 05:22:33 PM
i used to mine eligius back in 2013-2015, but fell out of ASIC mining after the S5. at that time, i was getting payouts every 5-10 days.

A buddy was setting up a miner and wanted a pool last month. since nicehash was hacked the day before, i suggested eligius and helped him setup stratum using a segiwt '3...." address. after 3 weeks no payments, and i cant check the stats page

If its just a long time between payoutrs these days thats okay, but i dont want to have my hashes 'donated' if segwit wallet addresses are not considered valid for payout - and i cant find info on if thats the case or not within eligius FAQ

asking this again, since i saw whizkid reply to a few comments but missed my question.

92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Mining OS] SimpleMining.net - Easy to use GPU MINING Operating System on: January 08, 2018, 06:34:07 PM
Hi Guys ...

Just a quick noob question ... I saw in my Nicehash Claymore that multi GPU systems require 16Gb of Virtual Memory (Page File). I see here that the minimum required is 7Gb... so is it safe to go with a 8Gb USB, or shall I take a 32GB better?

I think thats more of a windows issue then in linux SMOS, espescially if your cards are all on the same algo. Im using a 16GB drive in case the OS outgrows 8GB anytime in the future, and because it was only $1 more than an 8GB drive. 32Gb isnt necessary
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Asus Prime Z270-A Error - No image with 2+ GPU on: January 08, 2018, 06:32:32 PM
Hi Everyone!

I have an error with my Asus Prime Z270-a, it's the first time i encounter this problem, all my other rigs have been fine.
I connect one gpu via riser to the first pcie16x and my monitor is on the onboard hdmi port. I'm able to install windows, install the drivers for Rx580. I reboot the rig, everything is fine.
When I connect a second GPU via riser, I'm not able to get image via the onboard port. I see the mobo boot screen logo, but after that, my monitor go to sleep mode and nothing happens.
If I disconect the second gpu and only run with one gpu for booting, the image come back on my monitor and the amd drivers are still there and working correctly.

The things i've changed in the mobo bios are:
Primary Display: IGFX
IGPU Multi-Monitor: Disabled
Pcie speed: Auto
Hd Audio Controller: Disabled
Fast Boot: Enabled
4G: Enabled

GPU Bios are stocks

Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this issue ?
Thank you!

set the pcie speed to gen2. there are a bunch of posts with what settings to use to ensure this.

I found with the first 1x and the first 16x slots having risers, it outputs video via the 16x gpu (slot 1_2)
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: graphics cards for mining on: January 08, 2018, 12:46:23 AM
yea i want to mine Zcash with it, but some people were saying that when etherium dag file rises enough Zcash might also get a dag file and i don't want to face it with a 3gb card. otherwise i also think it's great for Zcash since it gets about 300 sol/s and uses less than 100W.
another thing. is a dual or even a triple fan gpu really necessary or is a small single fan gpu enough.

Ive got 2GB cards running cryptonight still. wouldnt worry if one coin is unminable since there are other options
95  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Eligius: 0% Fee BTC, 105% PPS NMC, No registration, CPPSRB on: January 08, 2018, 12:39:42 AM
A friend has been mining there blindly for about 3 weeks now using an S9 (so expecting about 0.04BTC) but there have been no payouts and the stats page is down (replaced by a slightly confusing post about moving "hu" to "ra")

has eligius not paid me yet, or is it a problem that i used a segwit address (beginning in '3')?

Is this a JOKE, over 1600 posts do You read any?? Many pages of posts about pool stats and other things not working.

well let me start by saying i didnt read all 1600 posts. obviously.

I havent used eligius in a long time, and suggested it to a friend when he bought an S9 last month and needed a pool. Its been several weeks and he wanted to see how its done - stats page is down and theres been no payments to his wallet (despite an expected ~0.04BTC)

My biggest worry is that he used a segwit address, and if eligius is incompatible he may not have gained any rewards at all for 3 weeks of mining
96  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A "set it up and forget it" remote rig? on: January 07, 2018, 03:44:33 AM
I'd say you got me 90% convinced Wink

  • Not a big fan of Right now the price is 2$ per rig per month
  • I'd like to see some hashrate comparison. Does this exist? Say SMOS vs. Nicehash.

im getting about the same hashrate for equihash on nvidia cards between SMOS and win10/NHM

and its $2/account i think. thats peanuts if youve got lots of GPUs

Faster as in "short time from being delivered to having a system running", right?

What about hashing power Huh I've read there are more dedicated drivers for Windows and it seems there are more software as well. Finally, it seems easier to me to maintain it remotely.

windows might allow you to tinker a little bit more out of the cards, using newest drivers and tuning software, but a good usb linux distro can allow remote control functions (restart miner or reboot system) and requires no real setup (my account is configured, so if i plug a freshly flashed USB into any mining system (with proper hardware configuration) itll download updates and start mining within 10minutes. I can them apply an overclock remotely and monitor it online.

whereas the same rig has given me nothing but headache with win10 updates and finnicky bootups despite an SSD and ive sunk hours into updates and tweaking over teamviewer. SMOS and USB distros are easy and a $10 flash drive is cheaper than a $60 ssd/m.2
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A "set it up and forget it" remote rig? on: January 06, 2018, 08:46:51 PM
the calculation is about right (but altcoins are very profitable right now - that could change in the coming weeks/months)

Id also reccommend the SMOS mining OS off of a USB drive. WAAAAYYYYYYY faster than making any win10 build functional
