301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC build for altcoins GPU mining on: November 04, 2016, 02:58:15 PM
Many thanks for replies, especially to @h311m4n for high effort explanation!

Now I see that radeon card is a "must have" for such a minig rig, and you all suggest radeons 470 or 480 but these cards are expensive... $200-250 for a card is out of my price range.

As I wrote in my first post I can risk (and probably loose Wink ) $200-250 in total.

So what do you think about buying radeon R9 270 2GB for the beginning (I found one for ~$50), and mine with this few weeks and buy RX 470 or 480 as a second card?

This is how I see my build:
 • $50 - PU Zalman ZM500-LX 500W 120mm
 • $50 - Asus H81M-Plus
 • $50 - R9 270 2GB
 • $50 - CPU Pentium G3260 3,3GHz LGA1150 (or Intel Celeron G1840 LGA1150)
 • $20 - 4GB RAM and HDD

What do you think about this build now?

You need to think beyond your current budget/acceptable loss and hence, see my first post where I advised you to do something else with those 250$ ;-). As I explained in my first post, an R9 270 2Gb is a waste of money. Those older gen AMD cards consume way too much power and won't hash fast enough (especially a 270) to justify its purchase. Do not forget that the difficulty always increases for a given coin. Also, it's a 2Gb version so it will be completely unusable with GPU mining within very soon (imo). You could maybe gain a few zecs (i'm talking like 0.001ZEC) with this but it'll take you a lot of time, even if the difficulty is still low.

I would go for at least a 280 or 290 and at least 4Gb, otherwise your just throwing money away Smiley

Now, if you just want to learn about mining and see how the whole thing works, I guess if this is the maximum you can afford, then go for it. But be warned, mining tends to be addictive Grin

to be fair, a 270x can probably be found for ~$60 right now, and is making ~$2-3/day at zcash. so theres an okay chance it will break even before zcash/rthereum become fruitless to mine on it, but then what?

youll need a newer gpu to mine beyond the zcash bubble, and its tough to resell a $50 gpu thats had multiple owners and is ~3yrs old. youll be back at step one, but with a $200 rig that cant profitably mine anything and the cpu/hdd/ram probably didnt get paid off while using the 270x to mine (unless the zcash party lasts 2-3 more months)

follow everybodys advice - you need a $1000+ budget to assemble a good 4GPU rig that has a good chance of profitability over a 1year timespan. at minimum, $600 to build something with 2-3 decent gpus
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Genoil's ZEC miner: AMD ZCash miner for Windows - 0.6 on: November 04, 2016, 05:50:13 AM
0.6 less stabiel than 0.5 - please lower CPU and make more stability bro
+1. not sure why, but 0.5 is more reliable
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PC build for altcoins GPU mining on: November 03, 2016, 11:43:52 PM
As advised above, $200 is a garbage machine and with only 1 gpu it will not be very power efficient and a lot of time programming it (2-4hrs your first time)

The mobo+ram+hdd will draw around 60-80w. Add that to the 270x and it's around 200w total for ~14MH ethereum. Meanwhile the big guys have 6x rx480 cards in a rig that does ~180MH @ 700w. See the problem?

304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Optimizing zCash Mining rigs (1070, RX480, RX470) on: November 03, 2016, 05:19:02 AM
GTX 1070 should get ~30MH with the nicehash miner
305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z.cash mining is up! What you using? What you getting? BTC/ZEC whichever. on: November 02, 2016, 04:02:08 AM
my pair of 1070 cards are both getting about 31-33Sol/s each
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z.cash mining is up! What you using? What you getting? BTC/ZEC whichever. on: November 01, 2016, 07:22:30 PM
WTH is wrong hahah  Huh

I am running nicehash with
1 x 7950
4 x 280x

Im only getting 30 sol is there anything I can do to tweak or trouble shoot it

my code is as follows

nheqminer_zcash -l usa -u t2UNzUUx8mWBCRYPRezvA363EYXyEpHokyi -t 0 -od 0 1 2 3 4

You should get at least 50sols/s

any ideas?

my r9 270x cards only get about 7sol/s each, and are a bit more profitable under ethereum. but from the 4xx card results i would have expected more like 10-15sol/ea

Try genoil-zec-miner-0.4.2.zip https://github.com/Genoil/ZECMiner/tree/master/releases it did wonders for my  r9 280 it was doing 9 h aka sols i used it . it now does 30 h aka sols.

you're right. now im getting ~22Sol/s per 270x card (undervolted)
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v7.3 (Windows/Linux) on: November 01, 2016, 12:49:03 PM
been playing with dualmining ZEC/LBRY on the 1070 cards

pure ZEC i get 31-32MH/card
with LBRY at cpu-priority 4, i get 170MH LBRY / 20MH ZEC (not enough ZEC)
with LBRY at priority 3, i=10 i get almost full ZEC hashrate but LBRY doesnt seem to hash. just sorta sits there after the "setting intensity" line
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash back in top - $2000 for 1 Zcash - on: November 01, 2016, 12:39:14 PM
it will not last, there is too much profit, i give it one week or two when the reward will be 6x higher, and miner will dump a crazy amount of coin

there is no reason to hold for anyminer, it's fucking profitable right now, more than ethereum ever was and more than lbry early days

sure about it being better than LBRY? i recall that for at least a week a single GTX 1070 was making >$10/day at lbry. with zcash it about $8/day
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Genoil's ZEC miner: AMD ZCash miner for Windows - 0.4.2 on: October 31, 2016, 09:23:56 PM
Excellent work, Genoil.
My 280X is doing ~ 25 S/s with occasional peak at 30S/s.
Running at 1050/1500.  GPU usage 76%, temp 55'c in Sapphire Trixx.

EDIT:  It seems solution rate is picking up after a while: consistenly over 27S/s now.

my undervolted r9 270x cards are doing about 22 Sol/s each, so a 280x should see 28-30

311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ZCash hashing speed ! what you get , what you using , (wallet/pool/hardware) on: October 29, 2016, 02:59:11 PM
first shot at it:

nicehash miner, converting to BTC
win 7 x64
g3140 cpu @ ~6.5sol/s
H97 mobo
2x GTX 1070 @ ~35/ea
3x R9 270X @ ~6/ea

total is about 88 sol/s. i feel like i can get more from the amd cards though

edit: after ~4hrs its averaged about 84sol/s. I can live with that, but i expect a good miner could get >10sol/s from a 270x
312  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Introducing the Keyois Capsule, a new type of physical Bitcoin on: October 26, 2016, 10:29:52 PM
Perhaps I should make a separate post but in the bottom of this post is this point:

I will give away one free capsule to anyone who correctly figures out where I got "Keyois" from, but I doubt anyone will get it. Still if you want to try just make a guess in the comments or message me.

Also I just realized this could have been called a BitCapsule

The part 'key' has to do with the bitcoin private keys and 'yois' stands for: Ye Olde Infocomme Shoppe (software collectibles)  Grin (ref: http://www.acronymfinder.com/YOIS.html)

I have to be close  Tongue

Hello friend, you are not close. I will give you a hint though, the english word 'key' has nothing to do with it. I very much doubt anyone will get it; but that isn't to say they would be unable.
there goes "key wise"...
how about " kontains encrypted yonkers of indestructible storage"?

^when you suddenly can't login Wink

Thanks Finksy for support, I'm still planning to sign a message but am migrating computers lately so wallet.dat files are unsynced and don't play nice with mycelium.

BTW: any suggestions for a good client that ideally doesn't need to download/store the full chain as a prerequisite to sending transactions? I wa using an ancient version of bitcoin core (don't fix what ain't broke logic) but a new computer means a new client installation.

Tldr; signed message hopefully over the weekend. Until then, feel free to maintain your scrutiny as I'm no different from an Australian douchebag pretending to be satoshi  Tongue
314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Open Source ZEC (ZCash) GPU Miner AMD & NVidia (up to 18.5 sol/s on RX480) on: October 25, 2016, 04:23:50 PM
My i7 laptop can do 8-9 sol/s without any tweaking. That's far less power draw than most 2xx/3xx gpus and similar hashrate.

How *isnt* this going to be the next botnet-coin? Gpu mining it has meager results compare to a laptop cpu, and likely the network will flood with thousands of botnetted computers
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How will this change the world of mining?? GTX 1080 / 1070 on: October 23, 2016, 10:17:41 PM
Operating system is windows 7 driver 372.54 , stopped using msi afterburn, crashing system! Settings using nvidia inspector are tdp 65% temp 70 , mem clock 900 , gpu clock -150, 195 mgh all , cause , card 1 can't make it 😞 above 650+ mem clock and card 3 is a bit unstable after 900+ mem clock 920watt at the wall! Cards are MSI GeForceŽ GTX 1070 AERO OC, 8GB GDDR5 , Samsung ram which is outrageously good!
By the way what do you think is best to mine now with these babies?

the strix 1070 gaming is similar. 700-800 memory OC and 200-220 core OC were at the upper end of what was stable and provide 290-300MH
316  Economy / Collectibles / Re: My Bitcoin Metal Pieces and Cold Storage Devices ( Kialara's included !! ) on: October 23, 2016, 09:52:54 PM
I'm also interested in a kialara. If you're going to sell them, pm me! Smiley

How the hell do you get THREE of them?!

Ive got several 2016 kialara coins (silver ball version and ceramic balls versions). you can send me a PM with if serious.
317  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Introducing the Keyois Capsule, a new type of physical Bitcoin - on sale now on: October 23, 2016, 09:46:13 PM
I really like these, reminds me a lot of kialara's design concepts.

Is it possible to purchase the entire assembly (engaved) so that it can be double-checked by buyer to ensure keys are correct?
