81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The rate of abandoned projects on solana on: April 29, 2024, 12:05:06 AM
Why the dev is not finding any utility focused project on solana? Something is not right in it.
Because the Solana development team are focused on working on Solana — the network, not DeFi protocols?

But it still failed to overtake ETH network that means speed is not the key factor in the industry.
My brother in Christ Ethereum has been up and running since 2014, whereas Solana has only been up since 2020; and add the fact that Ethereum is the first smart contract platform, of course Solana won't be able to have more projects than Ethereum this quick.
82  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: TRADERS are not UNEMPLOYED on: April 28, 2024, 11:51:30 PM
Traders = unemployed (unless working for a trading firm) = not employed

Hence, solo/at-home traders are unemployed.

Why look too deep into it? Unemployed doesn't necessarily mean you're not working on something. It's just the fact that you're not under a company's payroll.
83  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cold Wallet - The First Real Crypto Movie on: April 28, 2024, 11:46:55 PM
Is bitcoin core a cold wallet?

Not sure how this relates to this topic(a movie lol), but if you installed it on an air-gapped device running a secure open-source Linux OS like Tails, then sure. Otherwise, no.

If you don't know what you're doing, just purchase a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet. Don't complicate it.
84  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think of Predict to Earn Model? on: April 28, 2024, 04:12:11 PM
Seems to be such a flawed model with a lot of centralization issues by just reading your description. Why is such a token needed if people can just "predict to earn" through futures or options trading? we also even have crypto-native gambling sites already.
85  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Profitable Games on: April 28, 2024, 09:57:47 AM
It's going to be pretty difficult to find a sustainably profitable game as people in general get automatically skeptical because of the Axie Infinity hype of 2020. In my opinion the money to be made with crypto-games is through buying the picks and shovels(could be tokens or items, it depends on the game) of the games that are gaining a bit of hype, then just exiting when the time is right.
86  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cold Wallet - The First Real Crypto Movie on: April 28, 2024, 07:55:38 AM
Quite a weird and bland movie title that doesn't even spark a bit of interest, even with me — someone who's so into this kind of shit.

Anyway, at the very least this trailer shows how freakin important it is to be private with your crypto holdings. You don't want to be like this guy in the movie, that's going to be hit with a $5 wrench attack.

87  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is there strategy to make profit daily future trade on: April 28, 2024, 05:43:02 AM
1. Signal groups are 99% bullcrap

2. If you think profiting from trading is just buying some coins and holding for days until you gain profit, then you're absolutely mistaken. You'd figure if it was that easy then everyone would just be doing it lol and getting rich lol.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Most Practical Coins on: April 28, 2024, 05:31:45 AM
It's because there's more to it than just looking at "merchant adoption" and "quick transactions". If those are the only criteria that we should just look at, then the likes of the Venezuelan Bolivar shouldn't have crashed in value. Tongue

See: supply, inflation, decentralization
89  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Can what happened to Samourai Wallet happen to Electrum ? on: April 27, 2024, 11:26:31 AM
Governments can always take down any website they want as history has shown us, but it doesn't necessarily make the software inaccessible. If for instance the authorities shutdown Electrums website, I'm pretty sure the software will still be distributed elsewhere.
90  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: First ever epic sat sold for 33.3 BTC on: April 27, 2024, 08:53:58 AM
Would I pay 33.3 BTC for that? Nope, simply because I'm not even close to having 33.3 BTC lmao. Am I surprised? Am I against it? Not really. People pay for dumb shit every day from overpriced handbags to unnecessarily expensive NFTs, but to each their own. Free markets innit?
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Post halving, why are altcoins the most affected on: April 27, 2024, 05:40:38 AM
Altcoins are heavily affected negatively simply because bitcoin has been bearish in the short term and that altcoins in general have had huge multipliers already lol so it's just right for altcoins to have a huge correction. Even in fully-fledged bull markets, prices don't just go up in a straight line.
92  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your favourite exchange can be nowhere to be found on: April 26, 2024, 04:27:31 PM
We're talking about exchanges, but only two out of five of what you've mentioned are actually exchanges lol.

But yea I get your point; don't get too comfortable with exchangescustodial services because from hacks alone — nevermind insolvencies through other causes, is already a huge risk in itself.
93  Other / Meta / Re: How can someone know all the signature campaign he has joined before on: April 26, 2024, 04:16:15 PM
Other than these solutions above this reply:

You can check out Archive.org and hope that some of your posts in the past got indexed. You can just check X monthly/yearly increments depending on how frequently you changed signature campaigns in the past.
94  Other / Off-topic / Re: Microsoft doesn't seem to want to keep Windows secure unless you pay more for it on: April 25, 2024, 07:44:24 AM
But that is not the point. Windows can be breached in seemingly innocuous ways, without your knowledge even just by clicking on a link.

I mean yeah, never said it was the best OS, but you're unlikely to get infected(but definitely not impossible) if you're careful.

Personally, Linux > MacOS > Windows. I'd recommend MacOS for the masses personally because Linux can be too intimidating. MacOS is definitely not the best but it's still better than Windows imo.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The rate of abandoned projects on solana on: April 25, 2024, 03:46:59 AM
The solana blockchain has a lot of supporters hence why every project released on it seems to have “potential” even if in reality they really do not have. It’s a matter of credibility and confidence that these investors have.

Solana has been releasing memecoins left and right and people who can not identify red flags will surely miss them and be blinded by its name. Even though the blockchain it was launched on to has had successful projects not all of them would be.

"Solana has been releasing memecoins left and right"

 Huh

Fun fact: Any person savvy enough can create their own tokens on literally any trustless layer-1 blockchain with smart contracts like Solana. It's literally no different with Ethereum. Solana just became memecoin land simply because of the cheap tx fees.
96  Other / Off-topic / Re: Microsoft doesn't seem to want to keep Windows secure unless you pay more for it on: April 25, 2024, 03:20:52 AM
I've used Windows operating systems for literally a decade without almost any problem(besides when I was in high school and pirated everything, hence malware everywhere). You'll just need to watch out for what you're installing. Don't just install shady/pirated software; and if you really need to, do it on a virtual machine.
97  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best Exchanges Nowadays on: April 24, 2024, 05:02:25 PM
It's going to depend on what country you're in.

United States: Kraken
Everywhere else: Binance

Alternatively, if your trades are made within days/weeks/months, just do on-chain through the likes of Uniswap so you get rid of exploit risk.
98  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don’t like the term “crypto” on: April 24, 2024, 04:48:02 PM
Not a fan of it either because cryptography aside, 'crypto' sounds so edgy like it's some sort of teenager counterculture thing. But yea what can we do — it's now pretty much a household word that it's too late to change. Even 'DeFi' and 'WEB3' didn't stick as much as 'crypto'.
99  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: If all your wages were paid in USDT, would you accept it? on: April 24, 2024, 04:38:57 PM
If your salary was not US dollars, but USDT, would you dare to ask for it? Although USDT can facilitate transfers and cross-border payments, thinking about the fluctuations and risks makes me feel a little panicked! It can’t be used everywhere in daily life, What do you think? Come and chat!

This is going to be totally dependent on personal situations. If for example, I was in a country with a really really bad government, I'd most likely take the USDT so I can leave the country immediately with fewer problems with banks if I wanted to. Otherwise, maybe not.
100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will cryptocurrency create peer-to-peer transfer problems in the future? on: April 24, 2024, 01:56:47 AM
it has a shit ton of weaknesses. the governments have shown they can block ex's some of the time. what will happen in the long run when they come after pools or miners.

How is it surprising to know that the government can shut down exchanges? They can literally shut down almost any business if they want to, regardless if it's bitcoin/crypto-related or not. Even them going after pools/miners is totally expected.

There's a reason why this quote has been used a lot when talking about Bitcoin: “First, they will ignore you, then they will laugh at you, then they will fight you, then you will win.”
