This can be put simply
Vericoin Dev Trust = Gone Mintpal Team Trust= Gone

A mysql query injection? That's a site security hole, and could potentially affect any coin. That makes little sense. If they were able to inject a query into the database, why not steal other coins? According to Mintpal and linked to earlier. Why was only VRC taken? We're not exactly sure why VRC was the only coin taken, however we can confirm that BTC and LTC were targeted, but those withdraw attempts were unsuccessful owing to far more stringent COLD storage methods on those wallets. Which sounds strange because Mintpal admitted that the problem was they had far too many VRC in the hot wallet. What about COLD storage? This is perhaps the most important question we have been asked. We did have COLD storage setup for VRC, however in this instance, due to an error for which only we can be accountable, we had transferred far fewer coins than was required, resulting in a large proportion of coins being left in the HOT wallet. An error?? If the SQL injection attack worked on Veri it would have worked on the Litecoin, bitcoin Hotwallets Mintpal are clearly working with Veri to cover this up....its really shady...once its pinpointed - you can say goodbye to Mintpal

To the people saying: "they had to! so many coins too much for one person to own! they can attack the network!" Just think about it.... those coins are being rolled back and going back to one entity.. Mintpal. If it is unsafe in one entities hands, what does it matter if that entity is the hacker or Mintpal when it comes to the security of the network. If the system inherently protects itself, as Bitcoin and all crypto's are allegedly designed to do, then it will protect itself in hands of hackers as well as exchanges. If more is to be gained by holding the stake than abusing the stake then all is safe.
If I was the hacker this is what I would do: (Hacker take note) I would send most of the coins to a ridiculous and inaccessible wallet called something like Mintpalsucksandhasnosecurity. In that way you would destroy the coins, keeping a fee for showing this flaw to the community. This would also negate the main reason for a rollback.
That is a very good question. I'd like to hear the answer to that. Perhaps we have just witnessed the death of proof of stake coins - a wallet in an exchange can hold and stake such a large percentage they can execute their own attack on the network. Or someone who can hack and take control of that wallet could kill the coin. Centralized much?

I find it very hard to believe if you managed to hack into the mintpal wallet area of an exchange why you would specifically target VRC which wasn't worth much....You would clearly target BTC, LTC or Dark...
I would bet this was somehow an inside job either with VRC dev's and someone inside Mintpal hence why the decision to rollback was such an easy out.
IMO mintpal are at fault and should pay - have no idea why VRC dev's would alter their coin for an exchange unless theres some shady business on the backend.

so is everyone moving their drk to finex to trade or what?
It'll blow over. I think MP handled it rather well by being upfront about it. As we learn from forks, MP will learn from this. I agree they handled it professionally however the perception that they were secure is now now weakened. I believe bitfinex runs more like a proper business and imo is more secure than mintpal. They would need to be especially when they have the 2nd largest volume for trading bitcoin daily. I must admit I pulled most of my coins outta there... for now. Im assuming Finex requires major hurdles to get verified?? No its just sign up and away you go for DRK. Really happy that DRK has such a professional exchange to back it when there are times like this. Im only going to trade on bitfinex from now on

Long quote
Mate just ignore, by having that long thread you are actually giving him the soapbox to stand on that fuels his actions. Ignore button is there, dont quote and dont engage and it will go by like no one ever noticed. That frustrates them more than any reply. Silence is the best killer.

I would say so - after the mintpal hack with VRC - I would say that bitfinex is the best / safest place for DRK now

Proof that quantity does NOT equal quality. Bye bye friend. You won't be missed. I would like to submit my bid of .10 per domain. thanks. Ill bid 0.00000001 DRK for the lot. And yes I think thats a good deal and you should take it. I disagree, www.shitcoins4drk.com is worth at least 0.02 & www.3dvectordrkcoinpiechartanalysis.net is certainly a winner too. Let the guy make a quick buck, it's hard for trolls to pay the bills you know. ---------------- Anyone can check my history & see that i posted, on many separate occasions, messages of peace & goodwill to other "anon" coin communities. NOBODY gets trolled like this thread. Nobody.... Thank you for your support - we are seasoned professionals at troll hunting now due to the jealousy & stupidity of people.

DRK for life here too - masternodes are genius as proof of service and provide that feedback loop to keep the price high so miners get rewarded for securing the network.
I mine and have masternodes - I dont bother pump & dump shitcoins anymore. I Invest time and energy learning awesome stuff from the great DRK community.
Masternode(s) as in plural?! Hot damn! How do you rate son? :p I didnt get into DRK as early as some - I got in mid way but still really happy as I have been focusing all my mining efforts into it (3-4 months) and not wasting time risking pump & dumps. I have lost out on a pump & dump once and never want to waste my time on them again. From mining and early btc investments I have a couple of masternodes. Getting masternode payments is exciting and watching the community evolve and work together is amazing. Once you get involved it has a very different feel to other coins, price is hardly ever discussed or people screaming "HODL" etc. Its all about innovation and introducing bleeding edge never seen crypto technologies that have real use. Look at the x11 algorithm and how many coins have copied dark. Not to mention, Darksend+ and anonymity, Dark Gravity Wave and soon to be seen Spork technology to allow high risk changes to be implemented safely. I would say that we are still very very early in on DRK's journey so its never too late to get involved! Go to Darkcointalk.org for more info

Thanks for the link I'm interested to see what will be the outcome, how it works and rate it is being adopted. I was very confused about this and Darkcoin for a good while. I'll look for main page here but I'm leaning towards giving this coin a try. Darkwallet is not a coin - its a centralized coinjoin mixing service attached to bitcoin through a chrome plug-in. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole is my recommendation. You want the real deal - Darkcoin is your answer.

...
Darkcoin suffers from a bad methodology to achieve anonymity and it's put everything into this one basket.
Sorry to hear you lost faith in the project. Also, sorry you're going to be getting out at a horrible time (right before I announce I have EVERYTHING figured out to make Darkcoin mainstream?). Over the past couple of days, I've made huge leaps in the Darksend technology. In fact, RC4 will be the final solution to Darkcoin's anonymity. The client will automatically look at all of your funds and it will be able to tell which funds are not anonymized, if it finds non-anonymous outputs it will run them through a darksend with other clients. After that process, users can send without Darksend using the anonymous outputs for instant transactions without waiting for other nodes (with no upper limit on transaction sizes). The other thing you're missing is that there is a reason I forked Bitcoin. Adoption for Darkcoin will be MUCH faster and easier for vendors, because all of the APIs are the same. Expect more news in a few days. I have lots of work to do, but soon we can start testing all of this new functionality. Anyone else ready to pass out from pure joy? I would have taken a hose to my rigs and walked off into the wilderness to live with the animals a long time ago... Had I not discovered DarkCoin... Damn this project is a diamond in the rough... Agreed - its been a great journey - the minds that are involved directly and indirectly with the project never ceases to amaze me. I love how we all discuss the solution from both a technical and adoption/economic approach. If you look at forums/threads for other competing coins, their technical sections are empty. Not a single post. Just "when is release date please" "HODL" etc

Please. Masternodes denominate they don't transact or participate in the sending anymore.
Good luck getting masternodes shutdown in china if it's banned in America. Iceland as well gives no shit about American policy.
They can't even get pirate bay shutdown.
Once again you think darkcoin lives only in America. You must be 12 years old.
