821  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][INK] INKcoin - Launched! SHAvite-3 Hash, NO PRE-M! on: February 23, 2014, 01:00:04 PM
is there any more info on this SHAvite-3 ?

why is the difficulty just quadrupling every 10k blocks is this intended? seems kinda strange to me (i think i asked this once already and didnt see any response)
Block target is 1 min, and diff adjusts every week (10080 blocks). Max the difficulty can change in any direction is 4x. Since this coins being mined to shit the difficulty's been rocketing as fast as it can

thanks for the info!

Old trick. No premine, but massively instamined.

... is there a mint calculator?

I made a simple worksheet document to calculate how your balance would grow over 4 year period, if you keep your coins. (1M sample on screenshot)

How many coins are you guys getting per Mh?
Was mining at hashstrike and it didnt seem to match the estimates Huh I mean by quite a lot
I think people are mining this coin like there's no tomorrow.
Yea I'd like to get my hands on some too lol
But the difference in output is not very encouraging

How long did you mine before you made your conclusions?
an hour or so, but they have steady block finds
was the same when i tried for about 4 hours before

now i check other pools, the estimates are different, hashstrike probably has wrong estimates Lips sealed

You need to mine at least or a week to make any sort of mathematical estimate. Simply because of those facts:

- pool luck. This is how constant is pool block finding rate. This may greatly vary from day to day.
- difficulty changes after each block.
- net hash rate jumps up and down a lot!
- random block reward where minimum reward is many times lower than maximum block reward.
(of course, bigger pools will give more stable results, so you can calculate estimates faster)

Heres some notes to gain maximum coins out of your mining hardware:

- keep your hardware stable
- keep your latency to mining pool as low as possible. Find a pool close to you. You can use cmd to ping your pool address if you dont know how good or bad it is.
- stable hardware, fine internet speed and good ping (<50ms) results WU of >90% . Rejected and stale shares combined, less than 0.5%.
- also look for pool less than 1% or less fee.
As a result you will get 88% or more NETO gain of your hash rate.

My miners as example. (total 3 miners combined)
I live in EU. use EU pool. stratum+tcp://pool-eu.hash.so:1337/
Using 280x cards
my ping to pool= 47ms.
WU combined = > 91.5%
Rejected + stale combined < 0.4%
Pool donation 0.2%
NETO = 90,9% of my miners hash rate.

Gotta love panic sellers.  Grin

Which panic sellers? Theres no panic. Just people who sell to cover their risks and costs. Its called smart investing. Some aim for bigger profit, some settle for less.
I very much doubt that anyone panic sells MINT right now.

Heres approximate how 10M MINT will grow over first year period. Interest payment periods taken 30days as average. (MINT coinage is set 20 - 40 days)

How is PoS interest applied/calculated?

I have explained this several times in this thread. You can search by my user name.

A little bit out of context...

What is best and most reliable service to convert BTC to fiat, preferably EUR?

I entered Crypto world through ebay and mining, now I have to withdraw to buy some daily food Cheesy

Thanks in advance!

I prefer Bitstamp. They have SEPA payments and all my trading with them have been excellent.

dogeCoin have a total of 100 billion coins. thr price is 200  satoshi
MintCoin have a total of 70 billion coins. so I think the priis wil be  150   satoshi

Not as primitive as this. Be aware, that DOGE is completely different coin from its image and style. Plus DOGE is already 53% of 100B mined. MINT will have only around 27% of 70B mined from PoW.
831  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT]Mintcoin, Energy Saving Coin With a Fast Distribution *6 Exchanges on: February 21, 2014, 01:41:43 PM
Price is bouncing between 21 - 15 sat walls.

It is amazing this level has held, I think we're going another leg up before building a new base. We may touch 32 satoshi in next 24 hours:)

Another thought.... DOGE has 400% more coins and is >200 satoshi. If MINT were to be equal market cap as DOGE, MINT would be 800 satoshi Cheesy

Just think, DOGE is still being printed hard. With MINT we already have >90% POW coins already in circulation Grin

Cfx.

P.S. I do not rule out the fact that a quick move to 60 - 100 range is also possible. It happens. Don't try to day trade this, you may end up getting off too soon. Look at the coin features, this is not a standard clone. I mined 100million and am holding the lot for at least 100 satoshi.

I agree, but reaching the fame level of DOGE is pretty much in the hands of community. DOGE had extremely big hype over its meme and gained huge attention from younger people. Mint lacks this kind of fenomenon. Need something else to be done to get attention.

Hi everyone!

i'm trying to do some math about PoS system.

guess that i have 1000 coins. Like we said in the posts before, after 20days i'll start to get some interests.
I still don't know how many coins i'm going to get after the first 20days, so i think: 20% of interests of 1000coins is 200 coins. 20days/365days is more or less 5,48%...so 200*5,48%=10,96mintcoins.

so:
0-20days-->1000
20-40days-->1010,96

Can anyone confirm it?

Pretty much correct.
Once PoS block is confirmed, your new coins move in to your wallet balance and start aging just like your earlier coins. after 20 days they will start generating interest too.
So if interest rate is 20% per year and payout period is 20 days, then this makes effective yearly interest a little bit more than 20%. Exact mathematical formula can be found here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effective_interest_rate

Ok,

What I dont understand yet is the 20% thing.

Imagine someone having ALL the mined coins. If he/she gets 20%, where does this 20% come from? I.e.: if there are 10 coins in total. 20% makes it 12 coins. Where do the 2 coins come from?

Coins are generated in the blockchain. Exactly like its generated in PoW right now. Only difference is that PoS blocks have different difficulty algorithm and only aged coins are able to search the PoS blocks.
PoS coins are generated by your computer processor and it takes very little effort from CPU to calculate them. As a result it is tens of times more energy efficent than PoW algo.

Without searching through 100+ pages, can someone tell me the following - as it's NOT in the FAQ in the front.

Year one, your coins earn you 20% interest.
Year two, they only earn you 15% interest.

So, why not, at the end of year 1, simply transfer all your coins to a new wallet, and so the coins start earning 20% interest again (and not 15%)?

Thanks in advance Smiley

Coinyear is chained to entire blockchain, not to your personal address, balance or wallet. In other words, its calculated globally, not locally.
The only way to change interest is through hard fork.

OK, that makes sense.
On that basis, I take it the POS minted coins start to earn interest at the same rate as every other coin that exists? ie if you earn 1m POS coins in year 2, they only gain 15% interest?
I ask because I was under the impression that newly minted coins would start to earn 20% interest after 5 weeks of ownership..... which then led me to the question - if I trade some Mint, how does the buyer know that the coins they're buying are going to earn 20% / 15% / 10% etc - they have no idea how old the coins being sold actually are.

Coins are tied to the their address and block. Each coin is treated separately. Coin starts aging from the moment it lands to wallet. After aging for 20 days, it will start looking for PoS (interest) block.
If you send coins to another address, those coins age will reset. They start aging again and search PoS block again after 20 days.
Interest percentage is simply defined by blockchain block number. 2880 * 365 = 1051200 blocks are generated every year. If current block is < than 1051200, then interest is 20%. If its > than 1051200, then interest is 15%. If its > than 2*1051200, then interest is 10% and so on.

Any chance you batch builder to QT 5.2? Would be awesome to be able to generate android and ios wallets with QT in future.
Probably not an easy task of cource.

How is it calculated when you transfer coins out?

e.g assuming I mined 5 mil in my wallet on day 1, I then mine 500k today into my wallet then transfer out 500k to exchange to sell.  Does it take your earliest accumulated coins so I only have 4.5 earning interest from day 1?

Yeah. I believe so at this point. Coin control will probably be implemented later but for now if you really want to get around this you could create multiple wallets. Have a wallet for saving and minting and another wallet for transactions.

I belive "sendmoney" takes coins randomly from the balance. I have not found lines in source code where it says to be regulated in any way.  Im interested to know about it as well.
Theres also a -reservebalance (amount) option, but i quess this also takes coins randomly from balance and doesnt protect your earlier coins from resetting coinage.
Since all PoS hybrids are clones of PPC/Nova, perhaps this is already answered in PPC thread. Need to google a bit.

No worries, keep your coins. I have plenty. My post wasnt meant to be personal. I apologize if you felt offended.

This is where the 700 mil premine is at. Gotta love boredom and blockchains.

nice find!

Its just a block 0, which was premine superblock.
You can see that 100M key was generated and the rest was sent forward.

10k sent. GL.

Really?
I didnt get a single coin for earlier explaining, how coins are distributed and you give some random beggar 10K?

 Cheesy

No one said humans were logical. I had extra, have 45 million on mintpal and figured 10k that I got from mining wouldn't hurt. I have been around long enough to have a few spare coins sitting around. Want 100k nugs?

No. Im just bit sad that people who actually write something useful will end up empty handed and people who spam threads by posting their wallet addresses will get some.
Same happened before when i managed DOGE publicity thread. It had nice amount of views and i got zero award for that.
I also gave away 1 million DOGE (worth of 0.6btc at the time) in reddit. What i got back was 3000 DOGE from one person. I was happy that there was at least one person in doge subreddit who cared enough to give something back.  Grin
