I do have SSL I just do not enforce it.
If users chose to send API requests through http (e.g. to pull down market data) they are free to do so.

I see that many of you connect bad memories with any myXYZcoin called site.
Therefore I decided to rename the exchange service to solidcoin24.
I hope this name is clean  Wink

You're probably right. I am already thinking of renaming the exchange.
I could've thought of that before  Sad
Maybe it's because I am a programmer and not a marketing expert  Wink

btw 1SLC = 0.015 to toy with Wink
You are right. Corrected.

As for the naming:
First of all it is an exchange, not an ewallet. Don't store too large amounts of BTC/SLC there anyway.
I know I have to earn trust and I am willing to do so. (Honestly, if I had planned to scam you I would've chosen another name, wouldn't I?)
I just think that mysolidcoin (like mybitcoin) are nice names and it's a shame that they were dragged through the mire (at least mybitcoin). Hopefully my service can convince nonetheless and when you hear "mysolidcoin" you'll think of a nice service instead of a big scam.
825  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / solidcoin24 Exchange [BTC,NMC <-> SLC] on: August 31, 2011, 07:50:38 AM

I released a BTC/SLD exchange called solidcoin24 (www.solidcoin24.com).
I tried to make the service a bit more newbie-friendly and easier to use for people who have no trading experience yet (e.g. I added confirmations and explanations to most trading actions). I hope this will help get Solidcoin more popular.
Also, the trading completition approach is slightly different. While most exchanges require you to give a buy-target and an upper limit for what you want to spend, my exchange requires you to give a lower limit for the amount you want to get and a fixed spend amount.

Example:
You have 10 BTC and want as many SLC as possible.

In most exchanges you would have to chose a certain exchange rate and if you are lucky, the order is completed and you have some BTC left. Then, you would place a new order to spend the remaining BTC and repeat over and over until you spent all your BTC.

At solidcoin24.com you can place an offer like this:
I offer: 10 BTC, I demand: at least 500 SLC
solidcoin24 will then try to buy as many SLC as possible, until all 10 BTC are spent.

Another feature are 'atomic' trades:
They are invisible, indivisible and will only be completed if they can be completed at once. So they don't influence the market until the order is completed. They also don't appear in the ask/buy list (that's why they're invisible).
I introduced this feature because I wanted to avoid a certain trading behaviour: Some people, including me, don't want to place an order and leave it there for a longer time.

Example:
I want to sell my 5,000 SLC for a nice amount of BTC, but I can wait.
If I place an order (5,000 SLC is quite much currently, comparable to, say, 10,000 BTC in terms of market influence) other people will see a huge sell wall. What they think is "Oh no, there's a huge sell wall, the price won't go up anytime soon". This is exactly what you want to avoid because the exchange rate is likely to go down or at least unlikely reach your rate. Solution: invisible atomic trades.

Everybody who signs up will get a free Solidcoin (that's 0.015 BTC) to toy with. (50 users have been reached)

So please try it out and tell me what you think  Smiley

Of course Solidcoins are not as revolutionary as Bitcoins were, but they have a number of advantages (see solidcoin.info).

I am glad to announce that the API is finally ready.
You can create offers, cancel offers, look up your balance and more via the new API. However, withdrawing and depositing has to be done manually (this might change in the future).
So, don't hesitate and start automatic trading without fees now Wink

Here's the documentation:
http://mysolidcoin.com/p/main/api.htm

You get 1000 api calls per hour. I think this should be enough. After that you will receive a message telling you how long it will take until you get another 1000 api calls.

Thanks!
I corrected the typo.

Here's the forum post in the Solidcoin forum with a feature list and some plans I have:
http://solidcointalk.org/topic/69-mysolidcoin-exchange-no-fees/

The market data part of the API is ready now, too:
http://mysolidcoin.com/p/main/api.htm

The SSL certificate should be there tomorrow or in 2 days at the latest. I hope this will make the site a bit more trustworthy.

I know. Any suggestions?

Just try it out with very small amounts. Placing your first order will be free anyway with your free welcome SLC.

Yes I am sorry about that. You can also access it without SSL at the moment (http://mysolidcoin.com/p/main/start.htm).
SSL certificate will come soon.
