https://www.newsbtc.com/news/bitcoin/bitcoin-whale-wallet-with-150-million-activated-after-8-years/

And you guys scared one of these whales to move their coins.. Keep talking about "abandoned" coins and we might see some movement from old addresses.
Angry

Well my point was heard and considered and acted on. Just gained eight years time with a simple move.

8262  Economy / Economics / Re: Possible market crash in the near future? on: November 11, 2021, 06:19:07 PM
It is not a question of crashing or bull or bear.

It comes in waves and surges.

So is this wave going to pull back or does it have legs?

If we are still pushing onwards and upwards and it is summer of 2022 I would not be surprised 😮.

If we pull back today for the next two years I would be surprised.

But I am prepped either way.
8263  Economy / Speculation / Re: Summer dip?!, December price outcome? ---> JOIN and guess the price GO! on: November 11, 2021, 06:10:45 PM
BTC could go up ⬆️ a lot.

Flash crash of Feb 2020 3900

Now Nov 2021 68000 thats a lot.

In less than 22 months.

over 1 trillion usd.

So do I think it can do 1 trillion more in 22 months yes it can. but a coin would go from 68k to 115k (off the top of my head math)

do I think it can do 2.6 trillion more in 22 months yes it can. but a coin would go from 68k to 200k

not 3900 to 68000.

realistically seeing 200k btc in 2024 would be possible why not.

but 3900 to 68000 is more than 16x in 22 months

do i think btc will do 1 million in next 22 months no i dont.

but i think from summer 2021 price of 30k to 500k by fall of 2023 which is the same as 3900 to 68000 in 22 months is possible.

so is it too late for anyone to begin stacking sats no it is not.

wow, that was a quick start of your new run!

Good Luck all!

mmpool.org just hit its second block one in oct and one in nov.

this means two other small pools will be getting blocks.

one of which will be the solo pool.
8265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 11, 2021, 02:35:10 PM
All bitcoins that are not moved for a certain period of time (20, 50, or 100 years) should be presumed lost and then recycled through the usual mining process. I'm not sure if that can be achieved through a soft fork.

Math/cryptography tells that they belong to somebody. Even after 100 years. And that means theft.
You know that one can inherit a private key, a hardware wallet or a physical collectible with private key on it, right? You want to make them worthless in 100 years. Unless the term property will become more.. lax.. in 100 years, I don't see this happening.
And, more or less as philipma1957 said, I'll leave this for my grandchildren think it over.

Which is my main point it is going to be down the road a bit before that fight happens.

In fact if it does happen it would mean 2 very good things.

Both the world and BTC survived long enough to have that fight.

To all that disagree look into  sunken  pirate ships and the treasure involved when found some very interesting laws are involved as to who gets to keep what is found.

Ugh.

Disagree.

First off we filled in 66k

We knocked off  the sole 52k

We have only 7 days 1 week of 53k left

Like I said I was born in 1957 and will almost certainly be dead by 2069 as 112 is not going to happen.

But if BTC is to wind out and whale and be 1 or 2 or 3 million even 10,000,000  and there are 2,000,000 in Frozen coins they will be moved or set back into circulation.

As  1,000,000 x 2,000,000 = 2,000,000,000,000 / 2 trillion to and 10 million x 2 mill = 20 trillion in coins.

No way is that staying idle for all time.

The pressure put on them going back to recirculate will be huge. The power grid and gear used at that time will need to be fed.

Not a worry for this in 2021 or 2029 or 2039 or 2049 but by 2059 yeah if the world and btc have survived they will be big pressure for that event.

To those that disagree fine hope you live to see it not happen and come to my grave and laugh at me.

Philip... Oh, Philip... What's happening to you? Is this some kind of joke, or even a r0ach-like metamorphosis?

If what you're saying ever happens, it will be the end of Bitcoin. It doesn't make any sense and, frankly, I'm very surprised you're saying it.

Keys ---> Coins.
Keys lost = Coins lost.

That's a one-way street, can't work around it. Putting backdoors to coins is equivalent to breaking Bitcoin's security. Who is to decide when, how much, and from where? Coin age? And what if the original owner suddenly appears? Would his keys suddenly become invalid? What you're saying implies a central authority taking control of Bitcoin's blockchain, and is equivalent to hard-coding the invalidation of keys in the Bitcoin protocol. This is sweet music to CSW's ears, should a retarded judge ever award him rights to Satoshi's coins.

Sorry to have to say this, but what you're suggesting is probably the biggest pile of nonsense I've ever read in WO...

It is simple fucking math!

If I had 10 Apples and You have 10 Apples and someone else has 10 Apples, and each apple will swap for 1 Hoe..

Say for some unknown reason you lost your 10 Apples and for the life of you, can not find it anywhere, then guess what!

1. You can’t have any Hoe’s
2. I can now buy 3 Hoe’s for 2 Apples
3. That someone else can also swap 2 Apples for 3 Hoe’s
4. You potentially may have to be a Hoe if you to want some apples, but wait that means there are now more Hoe’s, which means my 1 Apple may be buying 3 or 4 Hoes now!

In other words, the lost/missing coins have already been recycled, in a much more intelligent way. If you can not see it already then you really don’t understand what Bitcoin truely is.

Mining lost coins.. that the same as money printer going brrrrrr….

. Dude I will be dead when the fight over frozen coins is started. The fight will be that they are not lost keys. The fight will be that they are abandoned coins.

If you have any idea about worldwide legal bullshit in general and human nature those "frozen" coins will be fought over bigly down the road.

Like I said won't happen anytime soon. But it is going to happen.

Thank you as I was not sure.  BTW it  is  very good reward of  0.132 coin.

This means you are due soon.

It would be nice if lead miner hit this he gets a decent block reward and folds back a btc of the 4 + he hit.

and hits another before years end.

one can dream.

So today I was eating at a restaurant. It wasn’t one of those fancy dark lite places but something like a Denny’s only slightly fancier. And sitting right next to me was some douchy looking dude wearing sun glasses, indoors. He is ever so cool.

Low and behold I look at his phone and I see he has Binance open. He is talking to his girl friend saying “When i get a signal I click Green to Buy and Red to Sell”.

He also said some douchy things like “Most people got real jobs but I just do this and make way more money”.

So obviously this is a top signal more or less. People without class basically quitting their jobs to trade crypto full time”.

Seems this is becoming almost a daily occurance, you are shopping and someone is talking about Dogecoin, or Shibacoin or Tesla, etc.

Not even during the peak 2017 did I run into so many people who are talking about trading. Way too many people are making too much money trading these days. This can’t end well.

We are not there yet.  Maybe in 8 months to a year.  Not right now.

... I already described why it will never happen and is a stupid idea that will break higher layers and put the entire protocol at risk,

... yet, you relent, we can just tell you that you're fucking idiot and laugh at you while you are alive!

That my friend is so naive I am laughing at you right now. Thanks for the smile.

Ha protocol vs 20 or 30 trill worth of coin just sitting .  They will force each and every wallet to show control via a small withdrawal or declare it abandoned.

Maybe the push back by developers would be a simple no like you think.  I won't live long enough to find this out.

but dude it is pretty much certain to get pushed in 2049 to 2069 time range.

and I can tell you human nature it will happen.

nope..
pretty stupid idea..

One thing for sure..if you have bitcoin with a bank and don't touch it for 5 years, it is as good as gone.
They have this 5 year account inactivity feature.
I had one account I forgot about forfeited like that, not that I cared much, it had some very small amounts there, but this is the rule they use.

Like I said I was born in 1957 and will almost certainly be dead by 2069 as 112 is not going to happen.

@sgbett Arrived relatively late to the sgbett and proudhon parties but have nevertheless enjoyed them. Others seem to have fallen away (kwukduck for example I wish stuck around) but continue to derive much satiafaction and undercurrent readings from those who do bother do add context and deeper meaning... Not that I also don't enjoy pure speculation for the heck of it.

Do we really think we get to where we are without healthy diversity of opinion? The irony is to see proudhon being called a contrarian when that used to be a Bitcoiner label =)

He looks good now big drop.

By the way my fucking 70 k by May did not happen and I could end up be BTC's Jinx. ugh

Closing in towards end date, who is favorite atm ??
I will be surprised if bitcoin can be bullish than this before the end date:

snip

Hmmm Cheesy

Well?

Exactly 4 weeks for this thread target time-frame to run.. and getting up to $80k is merely 23.3% above the mid-April ATH of $64,895...

That seems a pretty conservative range, especially given that we were up to $68,564 yesterday, and $68,564 is within 16.7% of the $80k maximum that you are proclaiming Charles-Tim...

Pretty conservative to speculate that bitcoin can ONLY go up another 16.7% in a 4 week period, especially when it currently seems to have a decent amount of UPpity momentum that we could claim started around the end of July - even if there were a few pauses along the way, but getting a bit more UPpity steam around October 1, no?

Of course, I personally do NOT bet higher on any kind of UP prices happening or continuing, but just in an attempt to look at the price momentum for what it is.

To me it seems that there is decent momentum to fairly reasonably take us another 20% or more beyond $80k.. and for sure, I would not presume the absence of resistance at $100k, but even bullwhales (to the extent that they actually exist) can start to act strange in the vicinity of those round numbers and there could be some desire to just get above $100k merely "for funzies" - even if staying above $100k might not be able to hold in the short-term  (don't label me as a bear for saying that....)...

According to PlanB he predicts November closing around $93,000 so yes I would
agree that a 16.7% rise to December 7th is very conservative.

By tweaking the list [to include myself  Grin] I am eliminating everything under the ATH.

8276  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin makes new ATH. More ATHs to come shortly. on: November 10, 2021, 09:17:46 PM
More like 70K,but there will be a price correction after that.100K should be expected in the next years, unless the global "powers that be" decide to ban Bitcoin for some reason.
Now is the time to relax and enjoy the bull run.
I really hope that Elon Musk will shut up and decide not to troll over Bitcoin, like he did during the spring.
China is no longer a FUD factor,so there's nothing to expect from the Chinese Communist Party or the People's Bank of China.
I also hope that the Biden administration and the Federal Reserve won't cause any FUD,at least until the end of this year.
That is the problem with most traders and investors. People aim for too high when we are not even there, and then they get upset when it doesn't happen quick enough. I can almost guarantee that the price will be 100k one day, I am not saying it will be soon, but eventually it will happen and we all know this.

However, when we haven't even broken 70k, why would anyone aim at reaching to 100k? This is something I have been trying to talk about many many times so far and for some reason I do not understand why people keep ignoring it. I get that it may not be something that is hype worthy, I mean why would you get hyped about 67k to 70k? It is a small increase, but 67k to 100k is worthy of hype so I get it. However just because it is something you get hyped about doesn't mean that it is reasonable and realistic, first focus on the things in front of you.

My prediction of 70k in May did not come true last May.

It has still not come true. So yeah I will be very patient till my “70k jinx” is broken
8277  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 10, 2021, 07:24:39 PM

All bitcoins that are not moved for a certain period of time (20, 50, or 100 years) should be presumed lost and then recycled through the usual mining process. I'm not sure if that can be achieved through a soft fork.

If something like that occurs, the whole idea of BTC will be lost

You can hold BTC for years and years and never move any satoshi, and you'll have access to the coins you have
Some move to recycle BTC can create a breach

Satoshi itself said (like LoyceV pointed above) the lost coins can be a donation to BTC

Knowing human nature by 2075 the move them or lose them movement will be strong 💪 and they will begin to move frozen coins. So any 2009 still in place will have a time period to shift them or lose them.

So a 50 coin address simply need to pull .00000001 to a new address and problem is solved as it prove the coins are not abandoned.

Satoshi mentions  lost coins but not abandoned. The powers to be will say those are abandoned and will take them..

To those that think it is wrong or bad or terrible oh well I don’t worry as I figure I will be dead around 2047 if lucky maybe 2057.
