This is why some of us have been complaining about the high level of inflation in the country, the price and regulations board authorities are not checkmating the unnecessary act of wicked by those retailers and wholesalers making this increase on goods on a daily basis.
Somebody I know in U.S is telling me that, there is a particular bread 🍞 he normally buys in mall in his neighbourhood, he said that the bread hasn't added a single cent on it's price tag for the last 5 years.
In sainer climes, authorities are supposed suppose to be checking this prices, not that today you buy one item for 100naira, in the next two days, it has added price just like, and nobody is raising an eyebrow.
842  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: An official update on the deadline for the naira note palava on: November 15, 2023, 04:12:22 PM
Good day my people dem,

Well this no be new tori again as everyone know how many people take suffer in the hands of the former CBN governor and the former president on the matter say dem come up with the idea to change our currency for the following note #200, 500, and 1000 naira note. This matter caused so many damages for the country last year when the election being dey near so tay many people come dey even think say this people dem just come to kill everyone in the country. But so many people come dey make suggestions say the whole idea na about the election and how dem see fit to take reduce the rate of corruption and to wicked the politicians wey already get plans to buy vote for the election but other come with their suggestions say na to actually give the naira note small value as wicked people don already stock pile so many printed currency and this they make the CBN print more money and we all know when that happens, the money starts losing value.

This na the main reason wey even the dollar and so many other fiat currency dey lose value too and na also why the technologist behind Bitcoin creation make Bitcoin get a limitated supply of 21 million so that no matter what the currency go get value overtime as people start demanding or please correct if am wrong @open for corrections still learning.

But all the same, the attempt to change the naira wasn't a pleasant one as the CBN failed to make the cash enough or maybe that was also part of the plan as shortage of the cash made the demand increase like mad or the so called politicians dem been already don hijack all the money finish. Going to bank was a war zone and so many terrible things occured during that period, police even nearly beat me up trying to get into the bank to collect your own fucking money, Omo, it was not easy many people Starve well well and most of them get millions for bank but the issue be say no way to a access the millions and money.

Now all this suffering and complain also bring good side effects somehow sha because massive cashless economy was adopted immediately as many businesses come dey accept transfer for the country and till now sef many people eye don open up but the negative effect was too much so the CBN had no other choice but to extend the deadline for the termination of the use of old naira note to DECEMBER 31 2023 and time for this don dey near and I believe upsets don dey come small small as money come dey somehow scarce if you ask me.

But I come see this official release say the new administration don EXTEND THE DEADLINE TILL FURTHER NOTICE so i say make I drop the matter here and many people fit go online see their selves and as we do am make we try relate on our experiences and impact wey this naira swap cause for our great country NIGERIA

I thought the court has extended the usage till the December this year, this one I'm seeing CBN extending it Ad infinitum doesn't it breach the order of the court that has extended till December.
The old Naira is over due for renewal, that's why I see this information from CBN as a back and forth decision, the redesign of the old Naira note was for a purpose, with this kind of decision by CBN, it means the redesign was unnecessary.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you rather make your investments in FIAT or CRYPTO? on: November 15, 2023, 03:19:19 PM
The crypto market has a high level of volatility. Anyone who is about to make an investment needs to have a good understanding of the volatile market. Now the question is, even with volatility, will you still choose to make your investment in fiat through bank savings with regular monthly interests or rather make your investments in crypto where you hold your asset and still have the opportunity to save and make monthly interest?

Wake me in the middle of the night, and ask me this same question, I will tell you bitcoin all the way, whenever I make savings in my Bank account, I always wake up to see unnecessary dedications in the name of charges, and no matter how long the money is kept it will not yield interest, so rather than the money appreciating, it's deprecating.
on like bitcoin that is volatile no doubt, but has a great tendency of increasing in interest value.
So I will rather save in bitcoin than fiat.
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: November 15, 2023, 08:42:39 AM
In as much as Bayern Munich, Man City and Real Madrid are the favourites to win the champions league, we should not also forget that an unexpected club that nobody imagined from anywhere could come up and take the day, this is the champions Leagues, though we have our favourite but anything can happen, this is the game of football. I would really want an under dog club to take people by suprise this champions league season.
Without a doubt an underdog winning the UCL could be quite exciting, but this is an unlikely occurrence as the top clubs can buy any player for any price and improve their performance based on their economic power, however such a team will need to improve based on the chemistry of their players and keep beating the odds over and over again, and this is a very difficult task to achieve taking into consideration the current conditions of soccer all over the world.

Before any club qualifies to the champions League, it is believed that that club has performed extremely well in its previous season in their domestic League, that is why it is being referred to as the League of champions, no doubt about the fact that there are clubs that have extra ordinary brilliance like the ones we've listed, but for any club that is there in the champions League already is a champion in its own right, so any of the champions that is not among the favourites champions can take the day.
845  Economy / Economics / Re: Foreign reserves on: November 15, 2023, 07:40:06 AM
Foreign reserves are the foreign currencies reserved by the government of a nation. If the reserve is decreasing, the central bank increase the price of their local currency leading to inflation. A positivity in the value of the foreign reserves indicates good economy.

I just want to ask a question. Assuming people are buying the foreign currencies and hold it in their domiciliary account and not used in another country for buying of goods to be imported, is the foreign reserves decreasing like that? I mean if the foreign currencies is bought by the citizens of a country and hold in their bank account, and not used to buy from another country.

If the citizens are holding foreign currency in their various accounts that means the diaspora remittances of that country has increased, so statistically the government can easily declare that the money and foreign reserve has increase including the ones in the government coffers.

-snip-
Since Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are the favorites for this cup, we can say that they are the strongest teams for the UCL championship. Harry Kane has been playing brilliantly for Bayern Munich so far. Of course, there is a possibility of winning the cup. He plays in a team that can even win the UCL cup.
Real Madrid remains the favorite even though they do not have a productive striker this season. Rodrygo, Vinicius and Bellingham can be relied on, even Joselu can occasionally help. I don't mind when someone thinks that Real Madrid has weak points that need to be addressed, it means that Real Madrid is not perfect and needs to improve.

Bayern Munich and Manchester City are certainly better teams than most of the Champions League contestants this season, but if they know for sure that Real Madrid is still the king of the Champions League, they 100% need to be wary of them. I'm optimistic about getting to the final, but this task will never be easy without the best strikers.
In as much as Bayern Munich, Man City and Real Madrid are the favourites to win the champions league, we should not also forget that an unexpected club that nobody imagined from anywhere could come up and take the day, this is the champions Leagues, though we have our favourite but anything can happen, this is the game of football. Liverpool made up for last week's point loss with a good win this week, beating Brentford 3-0 at home. Away to Luton Town, this time they showed no mercy to their opponents Brentford. With the opponent's successive wins in the last three weeks, I expected them to score in this match, but Liverpool didn't allow it. Although both teams had plenty of chances, the home team managed to convert them into goals and got the three points with three goals, increasing their score to 27 and reducing the point difference between them and City to one.

Liverpool is one club that has really fallen down the ladder lately, I don't know if it was the exit of sadio mane or something that has affected them so badly, they had a killer squad like two or three seasons ago, that where performing very well even in the champions league. I cannot pin point exactly what the missing piece is, but lately they haven't just lived up to expectations, I don't know if it's my own bias judgement but that's just how I feel about Liverpool

For the first time, Pep Guardiola had a weird record in the Premier League since he is working there as a coach.
Manchester City had a 4-4 draw against Chelsea and Chelsea scored four goals against Guadiola's team that's the first time for this coach to have this experience and this epic performance from Chelsea is the reason for it.

Of course Pep Quardiola never expected what happened on that match because he was feeling that since Chelsea is of a very low performance this season that there is every tendency that Manchester City will win them without taking much of there time, so he was very disappointed seeing the first goal scored by Chelsea because he never saw it coming.

You needed to see his facial expression when Manchester city score there first goal by equalizing the goal, he was so angry because he never wanted Manchester city to allow Chelsea score the first goal they did. However for a very long time I saw Chelsea and Manchester City scoring this much goals against each other.

I do not think that Pep underestimated the opponent, he has never had this before and he prepared the team for every match as if it was against the strongest team. It's just likely that Chelsea changed tactics abruptly, and Pep just didn't know it, because up to that point it had never happened. In any case, the match was great, it gave many people back hope that Chelsea can at least try to get into the top 6 this season.
Pep guardiola always find it difficult to win teams that are defensive and attacking minded, if your team is solid enough to contain the firepower of the Manchester City midfielders, and your team can as well force attack, just the way Chelsea played, then you will have a fulfilled Day against pep guardiola, because your team cannot control the midfield against Manchester City, Manchester City have more midfielders that will try to break through your defence line,  but hence your defence is solid and you are attackers are also living up to expectations, then your good to go.
850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are some things you should always avoid while gambling ? on: November 13, 2023, 10:50:29 PM
Let us discuss in this thread the things one should completely avoid while gambling. Here are some suggestions according to me :

1) Do not gamble in work area : It is not ethical to do so. Your employer is paying you to work for him for certain hours. If you waste these hours for gambling, it is a bad habit.

2) Do not take loan to gamble: Some young guys are so irresponsible that they take loans to gamble. It is a very bad move and can even produce life threatening conditions in future when loan recover agents knock your door.
For me, always avoid playing the game you're not familiar with. A common mistake for most gamblers as they don't know much about the game but still continue to try, resulting in an expensive mistake. Better to focus on the game you know more and have experience and build up a strategy using your experience.

Aside from that, avoid ignoring the bonuses given by the house. Gamblers should know the importance of the bonus money and how they spend it to know about its potential. Make it possible to be eligible for the bonuses, make use of it, and enjoy the benefits of your bonuses.

I agree with your point, some gamblers play games they are not familiar with, just because maybe the odds are high they just go ahead to play those games, without taking time to do a proper prediction.
Another thing is the fact that the higher the odd the more likely a particular game is not going to play, because high odds hardly come through, so the best thing is to avoid high odds you are not familiar with.
851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your parent disinherit you eventhough you have not proven to be chronic gambler on: November 13, 2023, 10:42:51 PM
Your parents are very rich and they have made a will while they are still alive Your parent is disinheriting you on the ground on one of the laws in our country about disinheritance that
Quote
When a child or descendant leads a dishonorable or disgraceful life;
because of gambling but they have not proven that you are a chronic gambler and you think you are a responsible gambler.

Do you have a case here on the ground that it is not proven that you are a chronic gambler and have not lost a fortune in gambling, can you appeal this case in court to make the will invalid and get your part in the inheritance?

Here in our country, you cannot disinherit your heirs as long as the heir does not violate what's stated in the law about inheritance and they just used the quoted message as their ground.

What's your take on this and what do your country's laws say about this?

Your parents can disinherit you when they find one or two excuses as to why you are not eligible to inherit their property, in this case you highlighted that the person is a gambler and as such the parents are basin their reason on the fact that their son or their child is a gambler, it is actually debatable in the court , because you can argue to say that you are above 18years of age, and you can assume every responsibility of yourself, if you can prove your case that you are a responsible gambler and there are no traces to which shows that you have some chronic gambling habits, then I believe you can win your case and inherit your property.
852  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: On security Nigeria died on: November 13, 2023, 10:20:17 PM
The success of every nation is a reflection of their security architecture. When the security apparatus is solid and in tandem with the vision of the founders of the nation, every other segment of the country will align. But when the security system, that is supposed to be an institution, is compromised, every other thing will fall apart; this is the case with Nigeria.

Nigeria's security institution is burdened with corruption; from the army to the police and virtually every arm of it. It is rather unfortunate that the top military hierarchy are just politicians in military uniforms. As it stand today, laws are made only for the poor because the rich are under the protection of the security forces who are ready to kill to protect them

It was so frustrating seeing that Nigerian police, the army and civil defense personnel played key role in rigging the 2023 General elections as they were practically involved in ballot box snatching, and even protected hoodlums that came to disrupt elections in many places. Furthermore, they watch INEC officials collude with thugs to change results of elections in many places. Now how do we make progress as a people when the security that is supposed to enforce laws and orders are the prime breakers of same laws?

We knew how several accusations have been raised by prominent Nigerians like T.Y. Danjuma that the security forces collude with terrorist and bandits to kill Nigerians. These are not just casual statements or speculations... the man is am authority in that area.

Until our security institution is reformed and made to stand for what they are supposed to, I don't see us making much progress as a people.

A lot of us in different fora have talked about the rot and decadence that has enveloped our security apparatus, the system is almost at its breaking point, it seems as if there is no solution almost at the immediate.
The security forces even on the recent elections collude with criminals and thugs to rig the elections for a certain candidate or a political party, and the security forces are there to supervise some of these miscarriage of justice.  The electoral umpire has turned itself to a political party where is directly and obviously seem to be that they are favouring a political party or a candidate.
The big question is, who are those that will reformed the security architecture, is it does of them in power that have directly kept the system like this or can the system reject itself?
853  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: How close are you to your father? on: November 13, 2023, 07:40:11 PM
Truthfully, alot of father's have made certain mistakes when it comes to their child's  upbringing and care, not because they want to be that way, but because they do not know any better. If most of them, talking about the present father's, can trace the mistakes their fathers made and try adjust themselves, things could possibly turn out differently .
854  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the right age for financial stability? on: November 13, 2023, 04:43:30 PM
The financial stability of anybody can come at any stage, people cannot save when they don't have any source of income, young people are always financially unstable because at that stage they hardly get jobs to keep them stable and most times because of the youthful exuberance some of them are indulge in, they find financial stability or savings as something that is not in their immediate needs.
At the age of 18, it is expected that that person is still studying, that is to say the person is a student, and  we all know the financial burden that always comes up with being a student, so it's always not easy to start saving at that age, because you don't have a steady income.
Financial stability can come only when you have and income, and you can save and make financial decisions based on income.
855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A gambler's family action. on: November 13, 2023, 02:51:29 PM
During the weekend I was listening to an evening programme from one our the local radio stations they were discussing about gambling, the effects and how to manage it if you might be struggling with  addiction. And they had listeners calling in to share personal experiences or of a loved one that gambles and amidst many callers there was this very caller story that caught my interest and curiosity.

She told about how the family members of a particular young man that is like a plunger when it comes to gambling, his compulsive gambling is to the length of him selling his personal properties and gadgets to make sure he gambles. So what he family did was to print a photograph of him and giving it to all the gambling shops within their neighborhood and around the locality, threatening that any of the gambling shops they have pasted the photo of their brother should they find their brother allowed to gamble in the shops they will sue the gamble shop owner to court as one that is abetting their brother's compulsive gambling lifestyle.

Now, while I was quietly listening to the story in my head I began to ask myself several possible  questions and one of such questions was; is it not possible that this young man can take a cab away from their location and move to a far area to carry out his gambling since his a compulsive gambler.

Just two questions here:
1. Dis the family of this young man went too extreme in trying to help stop their brother from gambling addiction or not?

2. Assuming you are this young man and you had to run to a distant location to carry out your gambling as you are allowed to gambling within your neighborhood and luckily you won huge sum of million dollars. Would you share that money with your loved ones who were barring you from gambling or you will just stay off from them and live new found wealthy live alone?

Share your thoughts!
If a gambler has gone to the point of selling his belongings to get money so he can bet, then that has gone extreme. Whatever measures the family is putting forward to caution him not to continue betting, is a welcome development, because his becoming a chronic gambler, that's not a healthy gambling Lifestyle.
Even if he wins million of dollars, it will still not amount to anything, because of his unhealthy gambling lifestyle.
A professional gambler will always check his addiction level, to create a balance and healthy gambling Lifestyle.
for his family to paste his photos on the gambling shops around his neighbourhood, shows that the way his going about it, it's not responsible anymore.
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 13, 2023, 02:24:02 PM
Chelsea has really done something nobody thought would happen, even if the game ended in a draw, is a better result for the blues. I mean this is Manchester City the treble winners, the champions of EPL, is not easy to go head to head against a team that's better than you are and you get a draw, I think this is a step up for Chelsea, they did well.
It hurts to see that whenever Chelsea has gotten their momentum in any game the next thing is international break, to me it kills their morale big time but I hope they won't mess up when they get back from the break.
I enjoyed the way the players faced Man City without fear of going out and playing like they use to.
Cucurella was just outstanding in his position, he's like a hungry beast, when he loses the ball he track back very fast to cover his position, and if you check between him and James you'd agree with me that Cucurella covered more ground than the England right Reece James.

Chelsea players where outstanding, Manchester United players don't have this charisma that was displayed by Chelsea players, even at the die minute when it seemed all hope's where lost, they where still persisting to get something out of the game, it was would have gone in the favour of Chelsea though, because they missed a lot of chances.
With the way Jackson and sterling where mesmerizing the defence line of Manchester city, it was obvious city doesn't have its defence uptight, more like they have, good midfielders and strikers but not too much of a solid defence.
857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 12, 2023, 06:41:36 PM
Unfortunately, Thiago Silva made a mistake when blocking Rodri's very fast shot, causing the ball to enter the right of the Chelsea goal in the 86th minute and put Manchester City ahead 3-4.
However, I have to admit that Chelsea played very well and their attacks were quite troublesome for Manchester City's defense. Actually, I predict this match will end in a draw because both of them are playing very well and it will make the top of the standings even more interesting and competitive.

Edit: As I expected, and the score ended in a draw and I typed and saw the score was 4-4 via Palmer's penalty kick in the 90+5 minute.
This was a truly crazy game, and I appreciate the significant changes Chelsea made.
It was absolutely a pleasure to watch this match, the drama, the tackle's, the penalty and a whole lot of interesting moment, a 100 minutes of real entertainment, this is the premier clasico, I was glued to my TV till the end. It was good game to watch, 4-4 was something I never envisaged.
Chelsea did a good job defending and also attacking till the end, Manchester City still continued their dominating style of play, I was really thrilled with both teams performance.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 12, 2023, 10:55:27 AM
Manchester united had a good day today, they had a win against lutton but then their performance wasn't as much as expected of them for a team that is considered this week, it's expected they win with much more goal difference but they were able to win with just a goal.

Although Manchester united dominated greater part of the game as they had most of the possession of the ball but lutton did put up a strong resistance against them such that they were unable to get more goals and Manchester united seem not to have a very good tactics and style of play that would help them achieve the kind of results expected of them, ten hag need to further work on his tactics as it looks poor currently.

Manchester United had a great day because they were able to move on from the league and earn three points, but their performance against Luton Town was still poor for a big club like Manchester United. I was expecting them to win, to score at least two goals, and I was also expecting Hojlund, who also struggles to score in the Premier League, to score since they are playing against a weak team, but he was injured, so there was no chance for him to score. I just hope he returns before their next Champions League, though,  if not Manchester United will face challenges, and nobody will be there to score because that is where Hojlund can score.

Manchester United has the majority of ball possession, but they are unable to score many goals, which in my opinion is a waste of time. Macus Rashford is not ready to play for the team and is not even capable of providing an assist. I believe that Manchester United will regret allowing Mason Greenwood to join Getafe on a long-term loan; in their match against Granada, Greenwood provided an assist just minutes into the game, while Rashford was unable to do so. If Greenwood is there, he will play before Rashford, and I just hope that he might agree to return to Man United.
I've always said it that Manchester United are lacking a good finisher, rashford has not been living up to expectations as a striker, Manchester United need at least two standby finishers that will  deliver week in week out. If not for Bruno fernandes goals that tries to save some matches for Manchester United sometimes I wonder the position they would have been in the table, Anthony Martial is always a bench warmer, a guy that has so much potential been kept on the bench.

I have had a bit of bad experience with forex trading I don't know if it because I was not knowledgeable about trading and also depended so much on their party. Since I was introduced to forex trading via a third party,  so my experience was not a favourable one and at that, I won't want to ever repeat the same again.

I think we have almost the same bad experience with forex and that is why I am more into cryptocurrency as I am  more at ease here though I am not saying that forex is not a good investment vehicle as there are some of the people I know who are making a living with it maybe it is not just for me. I am more excited with crypto and the many possibilities it is bringing for us.
I have traded both forex and crypto trading but I have edge  with forex trading over crypto trading, though I had a mix result in crypto trading hopefully I would return to it later, however having a bad experience in forex trading doesn't mean you can never be profitable in it, it depends on your commitment towards learning all the skills required to enable you to be consistent in profit earning firstly you needed to be well rooted in technical analysis and fundamental analysis as well as trading with a higher timeframe minimum of 4 hour chart and adopting a  working trading strategy with high reward to risk ratio, getting two signals a week is enough to remain profitable in the long run.
I've also traded on Forex and I have seen the benefits of forex trading, because some years past I tried to get into the market breaking through it volatility, but then it wasn't easy. more recently crypto-currency has taken my attention though I'm not an expert yet on the crypto market but I'm still finding my way through as  I feel it has more potentials with lots of new innovative content.

The forum is mainly concerned about newbies, and a lot of beginners' questions has been tackled by intelligent and worthy top ranked members. As a newbie it feels good deep down our thoughts to craft a difficult looking thread to please the high ranked members. But, that doesn't make us newbies. Though, silly or repeated questions are not welcomed in the forum. Yet, they're some easy questions we would want to ask as newbies, but because it makes us sound as true novice, we'd want to bypass asking them. As we'd want to show the forum members, we're doing enough research and reading about bitcoin and the forum entirely. And, most times such threads, centering on teaching, may not help us as newbies because what we tend to teach we can't relate or follow up in the discussions.

Such things, has caused many newbies to fall for plagiarism and as well dumping their threads without participating in the discussions happening under the thread. Being a newbie in the forum is almost a one time experience for every member and we must behave as one. Feel free to ask those questions that sounds and looks too simple to you. That's mainly what other members would entertain and send us reasonable advises and responses to. Thereby, gradually helping your learning process in the forum, with lesser stress.

Coining out a thread on what we don't fully understand, just to stand out, and look like a very intelligent newbie may not help our growth in the forum. Because this section is mostly visited by every member to entertain and answer questions from newbies. And because most basic bitcoin knowledge may have skipped our minds we tend to refresh our memories here, by providing those answers to simple questions. Hence, I'd encourage newbies to always come up with those questions, which they think is too basic or simple and need not to be asked. Feel like a newbie as it's a one time experience here, you'd learn faster when you admit and accept being a newbie.

I've seen newbies creating long copy and paste threads, which ends up not being attended to because of the plagiarism and the volume of the thread, and as well the OP not following up with what they've said to back up the knowledge shared. And when after investing hours creating those threads, the applauds they expected doesn't appear, they'll feel not being good enough. Enjoy the process.
That is why I always encourage newbies to ask questions whenever they are lost, at first some comments may try to admonish you or try to talk down on your post but at the end you will see the answer you need concerning the question you asked. Nobody is above learning, the good thing about the forum is that, you will see senior members coming to answer questions that has been asked, and they will give appropriate explanation for the knowledge you're seeking for with explicit detailing.
