8604  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi's Rainbow (seriously!) on: April 11, 2014, 07:10:24 AM
Was there a pot of bitcoins at the end of the rainbow?

Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue and the Bitcoins gleam,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the falls are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like Bitcoin drops
And the price rises above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bitcoins fly.
Bitcoins fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little Bitcoins fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Didn't even need some LSD for that one lol.

8605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Documentary Released on: April 11, 2014, 07:06:58 AM
Just released our short Bitcoin documentary on https://www.SQ1.tv

The Bitcoin Phenomenon

Starring:

- Gavin Andresen
- Trace Mayer
- Erik Voorhees
- Fred Ehrsam of Coinbase
- Jeremy Liew (venture capitalist)
- Peter Vessenes of Bitcoin Foundation/Coinlab
- Bennett Hoffman of Buttercoin
- Angela Keaton of Antiwar.com

The primary storyline looks to show the difference in perspective between the libertarians/early-adopters and VCs/entrepreneurs looking to take Bitcoin mainstream. "There is clash of ideology and ideals" as noted by Jeremy Liew. Erik Voorhees offers a steadfast position. The central question asked is does Bitcoin need to shed its politics in order to pursue mainstream adoption.

We also have full-length interviews with all of the subjects above as bonus footage.

https://www.SQ1.tv/bitcoin

Now that I have seen it, can comment it was pretty good I liked how they explained transactions and made it a knowledge based video interesting stuff sort of a note guide of the general video topics.

-   Presents a Novel Interesting Solution to problems
-   Cash for the Internet also a payment network
-   Piece of digital information that has value as long as no one else knows that information value belong to you
-   NSA in the 1970s spread in the 1990s Public Key Cryptography
-   Used by everyone
-   Solved the double spending how do you prevent it from being sent to two different people at the same time if It is digital easy to copy, but Satoshi made it so everyone notices one is noticed the other is just ignored, key technical breakthrough
-   Could a bunch of people who don’t trust each other just by passing messages create a working function system
-   Don’t need to pay anyone to make sure system is valid paid by the system itself
-   Tied into the creation of new Bitcoins make sure double spends do not happen
-   System validates the transactions and make sure no one cheats
-   Tied into the creation of new Bitcoins
-   People validate the transactions miners make sure no one cheat and are awarded Bitcoins
-   Need to validate the mining supply proof of work
-   Miners need to run algorithm
-   All validate transactions participate in reality to see who is rewarded Bitcoins
-   Fundamental promises made by Bitcoin network
-   Supply too complex every four years half are given out (halving)

Keeps going but it was neat

Not many long-term thinkers here, just people who thought they would get an easy ride to riches. That day will come, but no one said it would be easy.

It takes patience to build a garden can watch the ground and toil at it all day but it takes time for the seeds to grow into something larger
At least that's my analogy
8607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: April 11, 2014, 07:03:23 AM
http://astrohacker.com/ahc/bitcoin-is-the-economic-singularity/

After reading this, the scale of black market and digital economies and the effect Bitcoin will have on them I am pretty certain we are going to be very wealthy men -- even with a sum as small as 10 Bitcoins. It's just so hard to believe. We are only in the beginning storms with these significant rallies from 10 to 20 dollars. I will not be surprised to see prices from hundreds to thousands in the coming months.

The world just isn't going to be the same and we have been blessed as the pioneers.

What are you going to do with your Bitcoin wealth once your coins hit upwards of $10,000 a pop?

This is pre my era where anonymous posters were allowed to post if they paid a fee who brought this ghost up from the grave lol
8608  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Goats are out of the pen. Where do we get our milk from now? on: April 11, 2014, 07:01:08 AM
He was last seen here on April 05, 2014. To be precise at 03:32:39 AM. So his 2.5 years tryst with Bitcoin talk comes to an end?

Gone less than a week = Too early to tell.

Probably was like I have such a large post lead I can take a break and still own you all  Grin
That or he wants to see who will miss him
8609  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will be 10k+ Q1 2014. on: April 10, 2014, 07:39:36 AM

Nice that you were keeping count ^_^
Well it's right there, under my activity level.

I'm honored that you should decide to put it here Smiley
The 7000th will be here too, unless you stop updating the thread.  Smiley

8612  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russia Invades Ukraine. Whats next? on: April 10, 2014, 07:30:40 AM
Everything seems right but there was no such thing called "Red Army"  Smiley The Red Army was renamed into Soviet Army in 1946. Roll Eyes

He-he speaking of that Russia counters the American boycott with its own
Russian President Vladimir Putin turned up the heat on Ukraine on Wednesday by threatening to demand advance payment for gas supplies

8613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Name something you've actually BOUGHT with bitcoin on: April 10, 2014, 07:28:57 AM
I recently purchased domain name and webhosting using Bitcoin.

That is a popular one with all the web hosts that take bitcoin now
Can think of something people would want to buy with bitcoin
Babysitting  Grin
8614  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Do You WISH you could buy with Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2014, 07:27:11 AM
What product or service do you wish was readily available for you to purchase with bitcoin?

What is the biggest barrier you think prevents it now?

I would say insurance based services paid in Bitcoin would be interesting using a distributed escrow contract could withdrawal the funds at the prescribed rate and would not need to worry about it for long periods of time, also can close the contract at any time without being sold to.

Volatility and difficulty in regulations

I do recall one insurance company that showed up on here accepting bitcoins.

They offered insurance for house, car, etc.

Thinking about it I recalled that thread but forgot where it went
The idea seemed interesting though its just i can't recall how they said it would work in practice although if enough people used it could become a discount to all users kind of like the ones alumni of a university can get off car insurance lol.

Babysitting.

^_^ That one I can see a demand for ha-ha
8615  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Paypal 10% discount on Overstock purchases, hmmm, I wonder why: on: April 10, 2014, 07:23:55 AM
The problem is that I don't want to use Paypal even if they are offering a 20% discount. Definitely not worth it. Well... give me a 50% discount, I'll consider using Paypal.  Grin

Well combine it with Ebates and then get cash as well as a discount Smiley

Now this is "then they fight you"! Let's party!

^_^ First they Ignore you then they ... I got this quote he-he finally at that stage Smiley
8616  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Warren Buffett is an enemy of Bitcoin? Interesting!!! on: April 10, 2014, 07:17:01 AM
I don't think of him as an enemy. He just doesn't get it. Lot's of people don't get it.

I agree Warren can remain ignorant he doesn't need to get it, he will use it if it becomes handy to him
8617  Economy / Speculation / Re: My mother asks me where her 3k dollars are, what should i tell her? on: April 10, 2014, 07:15:23 AM
If she trusted you the money to invest then she is partly responsible for trusting you. That doesn't help with your feeling of guilt ofc, but yes you should just tell her.

It is volatile stuff but yep tell her but then ask her duration as well since you probally just need to ride it out
Good time to dollar cost average though
8618  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Song are you Listening To? on: April 10, 2014, 07:12:15 AM

8620  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will plummet to $10 by first half of 2014 on: April 10, 2014, 07:04:22 AM
Bitcoin will plummet to $10 by first half of 2014
Running out of time, then this goes into the trash.

More than a few sighs of relief will be had when that occurs although the fact that the price has been dropping for a while does mean it goes to the trash with distinction lol.
