8921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XSPEC vs XMR vs ZEC vs XZC on: November 10, 2017, 07:33:30 AM
What can you do? Xspec is a low volume coin and most probably a pump and dump. You should know that among the cryptocoins you mentioned, only Monero has the developers who have proven themselves as one of the best in the cryptospace.

Theymos has made a thread about different altcoins and their ratings basing them on his experience, and he was rated Monero very highly.
8922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: November 10, 2017, 06:39:04 AM
Aeon is going back between the trendlines once again and hopefully it starts ascending again right in time for the code rebase that is coming soon. If you thought its fall below the lower trendline was a bearish signal, then you made a mistake of selling all your coins to willing buyers on a discount.

The secret with buying Aeon is to place all your buy orders near the bottom of the lower trend line. Invest in the developer, not the idea.

8923  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What would make you invest in today's running ICOs? on: November 10, 2017, 03:52:51 AM
@ledu_ico. For an ICO, it would be a combination of a good development team and what the project's code is based on. But that would still be not enough. The developers themselves should be honest and should be working on the project because they believe they can create something good, secure and functional.

It is really bad to know that some projects have competent developers who are aware that they working on insecure software but remain to keep silent.
8924  Economy / Speculation / 'Maybe bitcoin is a kind of a bubble,' Goldman Sachs CEO Blankfein on: November 10, 2017, 02:55:53 AM
What is Goldman Sachs CEO, Lloyd Blankfein, trying to impart with the audience of this interview. He said that he does not like bitcoin but in the end he is open to the idea of a form of consensus money.

Is that a clue that he predicts that bitcoin's price might crash in due course? I speculate he wants it to crash so his company can buy on a discount. It is a common trick by market manipulators.

In an interview with CNBC's Kayla Tausche, he said that "maybe bitcoin is a kind of a bubble," adding: "I don't like it. I'm not comfortable with it."

Blankfein's reason for not trusting the cryptocurrency is simple, he said: "I'm kind of an old dog to be absorbing that kind of a new trick."

But Blankfein did not say the digital currency would fail, noting that "the list of things that are conventional today that I use every day that I thought would never make it is a very long list."

"If it works, I say to myself, 'Hmmm, maybe that was a natural progression from hard money to fiat money to consensus money.' So who's to say."

8925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: November 10, 2017, 12:52:32 AM
LOL i am pretty sure it will be Jon snow, we all know that Smiley

Remember that George R.R. Martin, in the past, has already shown to kill out some of the show's main characters very easily. So there is a big possibility that the bettors will get their money back because the final ruler at the end of the series might not be on the list.

I also reckon that Jaime Lannister might have a better chance than what the odds are showing.
8926  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-11-09] Citigroup’s CEO Predicts State-Sponsored Digital Currency on: November 09, 2017, 03:53:36 PM
I reckon Citigroup CEO Michael Corbat should research more about bitcoin and other proof of work cryptocoins. He simply does not get what they are. By claiming that state sponsored digital currencies will stop bitcoin's threat, shows that he is misinformed or completely ignorant. Maybe he should start hiring competent cryptocoin developers as his advisers.

There’s now one Wall Street chief executive officer who says bitcoin presents a real enough threat to the financial system that governments will have no choice but to issue versions of their own.

“I don’t think governments are going to take lightly other people coming in and potentially disrupting their abilities around data, around tax collection, around money laundering, around know-your-customer,” Citigroup Inc. CEO Michael Corbat said Wednesday in an interview at the Bloomberg Year Ahead summit in New York. “It’s likely that we’re going to see governments introduce, not cryptocurrencies -- I think cryptocurrency is a bad moniker for that -- but a digital currency.”

8927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [Pre-ICO] TRUCKCOIN: For the fastest decentralized global market on: November 09, 2017, 02:16:36 PM
@cryptoeddy and the Truckcoin developers. I am happy that you are using cryptonote at the core of your project. I am an Aeon supporter myself and I regard smooth as 1 of the best developers in the cryptospace. But sadly, he is working alone on the coin. Maybe your developers and smooth can help each other in finding solutions with each other's projects? Aeon's code is available on Github.

Is Truckcoin based on Aeon or Monero?

Thanks for your insights. We shall surely look into that. Truckcoin is based on CryptoNight-Lightweight which is more like monero. Our code is also available on github here https://github.com/goldenhillgroup/truckcoin

We would like to hear back from you

Cryptonight Light is really more like Aeon. It uses a 1mb scratchpad instead of 2mb making it more suitable for CPU mining.

In case you did not know, Aeon's lone developer is smooth, one of the lead coders who have been developing Monero since 2014. I hope you can work together and give each other ideas to bring more progress in both your projects.

What is your roadmap for Truckcoin?
8928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: November 09, 2017, 02:58:18 AM
@steveabrahams. I use https://www.bitsport.bet, they are the only bitcoin sportsbook that have TV shows and specials betting available. But if you know another one that offers the same style of betting but with better odds please post it in the thread. Thank you.

There was GoT betting also available in Bodog but I do not see it anymore.
8929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Parity scandel, Devops199 live interview! on: November 09, 2017, 12:20:43 AM
@TimetheYoutuber. Incompetence of some developers has caused this. But I am not saying that all Ethereum developers and contributors are incompetent, some of them are the best in the cryptospace. The problem with some of them is they know the project is no good but they remain to keep silent.

I wouldn't say they are "incompetent" but I think there is work that needs to be done, that is for sure.

So what would you call the developers who are at fault for the vulnerability that has led to millions of dollars of ETH being trapped? I reckon there is no other word for it butincompetence. Also remember that there was another Parity hack last July that allowed a hacker to steal 150,000 ETH.

As a community we need to get by this and move forward, I wouldnt pin this really on anyone.

Maybe that is because you did not have any ETH locked in a contract somewhere. I reckon if you had $150 million locked, you would not be here saying to forget it and move on. Are you also saying no one is at fault?

But I speculate everything will be fixed at the next hard fork when Vitalik orders a roll back of the blockchain again.

8932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tezos Founders Sued for Securities Fraud in Potential Class Action on: November 08, 2017, 03:58:11 AM
@Zerosk. I will believe that Tezos is not a fraud if their foundation willingly gives back the money invested to those who want them back. I would assume that they have not spent all of it yet, but they did say they would invest in mainstream assets. The investors who want their money back should hurry up.

Tech startup Tezos raised $232 million in July through an "initial coin offering"

Spending $50 million on venture investing, rest being put into stocks, bonds, and precious metals

An unusual use of funds from a tech business, likely to fuel criticism of ICO sector.

@Zero1One0. Yes we are now suffering the long winter, hehehe. But it will be worth the wait because season 8 will have movie length episodes, averaging on 1.5 hours each. I would prefer that they take all the time they need to make the final season have a perfect ending.

The odds are also updated.

Who will rule Westoros at the end of the series?

Jon Snow   3.25
Daenerys Targaryen   5.00
Cersei Lannister   8.00
The Night King   9.00
Tyrion Lannister   11.00

I think it is an old titan standing strong wow. Interesting to still see him discussed, but I think every coin might get a pump once in a while, even those declared dead for a long time.

Electroneum collected $40 millions in ICO to make something similar as AEON. So I dont know why are your expectations for AEON to vanish. AEON will be here 10 years from now. Trust me on that. Electroneum migt be not.

No Electroneum developer is better than smooth. Smooth is a proven decentralized blockchain developer as shown on his work done in Monero. I am also very confident that Electroneum will not create a great product without hiring the right people.

If anyone disagrees, then name 1 Electroneum developer who you would call great.
8936  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: November 07, 2017, 04:37:30 AM
@siti25. I reckon we should move on and start considering the possibilities for 2018. McClaren for instance will start using Renault engines next year. They also gave an assertion that they have the best chassis on the grid but their car was affected very badly by the underpowered Honda engines.

Will Renault then be the answer to their misery? Will Fernando Alonso stay for another year? Predict and speculate.
8937  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-06] Bitcoin Gold Hard Fork Draws Mixed Reactions on: November 07, 2017, 02:50:28 AM
“There is no such thing as a “bad fork,” Bob Summerwill, chief blockchain developer at Sweetbridge, a blockchain alliance, said in a prepared statement. “You don’t have to cheer one team or the other. Experimentation and competition are good. Let the market decide, and participate where you see value.”

But there is such a thing as a bad fork. What if the developers behind bitcoin gold are really there to pump and dump their premine on the community, like so many other developers have done in the past?

Hardforking the best cryptocoins will be the new trick to make the community invest their money in all the cheap counterfeits. We are already starting to see it happen with Monero.
8938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / British cryptocurrency Electroneum hit by cyber attack after raising £30m on: November 07, 2017, 01:13:57 AM
I do not know if this is incompetence or overconfidence from Electroneum's development team. But after raising that amount of money, they have no excuse. They should hire the best developers and should also have their code audited and reviewed by their peers.

I do not know how to say this, but maybe there are some people who are not qualified enough to start a blockchain project. Invest in the developers, not the idea.

One user locked out of their account complained on Facebook: "The question has to be asked... why didn't they do all this testing before the launch?"

Another said: "With $40m in the bank you should be able to hire and sort this quicker. This should all have been done before applying/listing on the exchange."

The Financial Conduct Authority has previously said that there is no investor protection for most ICOs, which operate like unregulated crowdfunding sales, warning people should "be prepared to lose [their] entire stake".

8939  Economy / Speculation / Re: CME's plan for bitcoin futures mirrors moment just before the 1637 tulip bubble on: November 06, 2017, 05:31:44 AM
@RGBKey. I am not arguing about that. I know what bitcoin is and I know its potential. Read the article and try to analyze what is being hypothesized by the writer. I have already said that if a crash of massive proportions takes place, it will be the fault of the same bankers who have caused the financial crises in the past.

I speculate that the CME group's cryptocoin futures market might create more dangers than good.
8940  Economy / Speculation / CME's plan for bitcoin futures mirrors moment just before the 1637 tulip bubble on: November 06, 2017, 04:46:22 AM
History tends to repeat itself, and bitcoin's crash will be no exception. The next crisis causing crash will not be the community's fault or the developers'. But the fault of same Wall Street bankers that have caused the housing bubble, the dotcom bubble and the next upcoming cryptocoin bubble.

They will take their investors' money and inflate the cryptocoin bubble so big, that the crash would cause another financial crisis. People will lose their savings and their pensions, but the bankers will be sitting pretty as usual.

CME Group announced plans for bitcoin futures contracts earlier this week, a move that UBS analyst Paul Donovan has compared to the introduction of a similar product just before the tulip bubble burst in the 1600s.

The tulip craze in the Netherlands in the 17th century saw the price of the flower skyrocket. This resulted in a crash of that market in 1637.

In 1636, cash-settled futures were introduced in the tulip market. A futures contract is one where a buyer and seller will agree a price for a commodity that will be delivered on a certain date. This previously meant that the physical product had to be delivered. But cash-settled futures contracts allow cash to be delivered upon expiration.

This method was used during the tulip bubble and a year later in 1637, the market crashed.
