This is an excellent post, I totally agree with your assessment. A public ledger is necessary in a crypto system so the whole world can be the counterparty. If you have an obscured blockchain and you don't have a trusted counterparty then you have nothing, IMHO. I think people got confused on the problem that needed fixing. A public blockchain with a highly fungible asset is the way to go, I feel strongly about that.

We're going to delay the implementation of masternode blinding because there's two separate mobile wallets that are in the process of implementing Darksend and the reference implementation needs to be super stable during this period of time. If i update, i lose the uptime and then i don't get payment (3d uptime)
If i don't update, i simply won't be recognized and again won't get paid

Not all updates are mandatory straight away, if you're proof of service has a rating 0 you're at the premium and fine. but you must be on the Dash Version v0.11.2.17 as most of us still are. https://dashninja.pl/ |

Why is it I can not send 1 micro Dash ?
The minimum allowed is 10 micro dash, is this something to do with darksend mixing or anti bloating ...

Hash Engineering's new Dash Android wallet looks promising, there is virtually no blockchain to download and uses very little bandwidth. I have just tested ' darkcoin-wallet-1.10.0.apk', send and receive seems to work fine .. https://github.com/HashEngineering/darkcoin-wallet/releases/Hash engineering says some types of coin are harder to do because the entire blockchain has to be stored on the phone, but not with bitcoin and it's forks |

Guys i just realised that Bitfinex has started to accept Instantx i sent 1 Dash via IX.... like 1 minute after that i saw deposit on bitfinex daaamn this is good!!!!! can anyone else confirm this, maybe i just hit the 9 confirmations time in 1 min  I have had that happen before but rarely for some reason (2 or more blocks produced quickly and bunched together?) I timed the deposit just now to test, and here are the results, 1 POW (6 times on instant X) = 3 minutes 34 seconds Time to showing as unconfirmed = 5 minutes 9 seconds from start Total time for deposit to clear and be usable = 41 minutes 10 seconds |

Heres a parting thought:
On a freshly booted up windows computer bitcoin takes around 53 seconds to 1 minute to complete indexing and start actual updating,
but if its already been done once and shut down then the startup time is only 30 seconds.
Now heres the kicker, on the latest version of Dash from cold its only 13 seconds and from hot its about 12 seconds.
Conclusions:
1) Starting Bitcoin from cold takes twice as long, but with Dash there is virtually no difference.
2) Nodes are found quicker (probably due to a better faster processing of blocks, memory hop speed/pool and network integrity)

When will we leverage the PoSe system to move from PoW to 100% PoService? Is there a technical reason why this wouldn't be possible/desirable?
Proof of Work is wasteful and dangerous (do you really believe a dedicated hacker couldn't hack a couple of the biggest pools and use them to launch an attack?). It seems like the ideal solution would be to get rid of mining altogether, and have masternodes create and publish blocks rather than miners.
The masternode network would have to be absolutely bullet proof. At the moment if the masternode network goes down for whatever reason transactions are still processed with POW. The coin continues. There have been masternode network outages in the past. The dual system works. And many believe pow works because it is inefficient. And distribution via people mining with video cards is fantastic. Be it mega rigs or just gaming machines it encourages getting into crypto without the exchange crap. Yer, and why kick a whole load of potential users via mining out of the picture before they've even started? This should be open to everyone, don't we want a large a market as possible and not just a small number of people who can afford 1000 Dash. Mining is a great entry method into crypto for any coin. |

Seriously though, is this exchange under new management or has it always been blatant in its pump of the month coin pick? Stuff like this makes me nervous to trade there, could be ominous first signs .. Theyr actually one of the best exchanges out there right now.... I think it was yesterday i saw troll box chat there where a Poloniex mod responded to a question on the dash market that drk/dash was a dead coin and kindly suggested an alternative..... I think we all know where Poloniex hangs their hat at this point in time. Would love to see a response here from Poloniex................. Alas, you said what I was thinking but have no proof, as in Poloniex have ulterior motives on certain coins and we both know which one , eh. The obvious choice for a replacement would be the leading volume exchange which in this case is bittrex at 28% volume. |
