... I believe something historic is going to happen in Washington D.C. this weekend. A huge rally of over a million souls, probably many more will be converging on the bloated swamp of corruption and self-interest, commonly called the federal government, to demand change.

Seriously I gotta ask, how old you?

Look up "Million Man March". Happened 25 years ago.

And guess what? Nothing changed after that. Nothing. In fact things got worse.

"But this time things are different".

totally hearing you here man

this time does feel different, and that scares the hell out of me

if they crush us here I think we're fucked

why don't you "deversify" into ledger?

I don't even do hardware wallets.

software...software makes me nervous

All hardware wallet brands vulnerability when pc is malware infected. Firmware update required:

Possible large transaction fee via two Segwit transactions.
...
The fix is straightforward — we need to deal with Segwit transactions in the very same manner as we do with non-Segwit transactions. That means we need to require and validate the previous transactions’ UTXO amounts. That is exactly what we are introducing in firmware versions 2.3.1 and 1.9.1.

I know that they dealt with it in a responsible manner...but shit like this makes me nervous as hell.

It's the wrong job from our perspectives down here as lowly serfs. As long as we obey and keep paying taxes, we have nothing to worry about, right?

Thing is, this is something we can actually change at the municipal level.  So often the root causes of problems seem so far away, but city councils and mayors have the power to instruct chiefs of police to abandon "deliverables" (as if public safety were some widget), to de-emphasize "measurable performance metrics" that lead to contact quotas.

This does not even mean being "soft on crime", just stop hassling folks over nothing ffs.

Blame the newcomer, not the 50 year career politician running for office for the umpteenth time or the Clinton / Bush houses who suddenly are angels of morality.

I don't think power reveals at all. In fact the opposite is more true.

I think the ones who really have power are better at hiding their true intentions and hunger for power behind words, propaganda and deflection.

They did. Trump reversed it.

The move rescinds limits on the Pentagon handouts that were put in place by President Barack Obama in 2015 amid a national debate over policing touched off by a spate of high-profile deaths of black men at the hands of the police, including the shooting death in 2014 of 18-year-old Michael Brown, in Ferguson, Mo., by a white officer. Some local residents viewed police use of military equipment during the ensuing protests as an unnecessary show of force and intimidation.

In a speech to the Fraternal Order of Police in Nashville, Mr. Sessions said Mr. Obama had made it harder for the police to protect themselves and their neighborhoods.

Oh you are so right, I forgot that Obama passed that law about outlawing cops putting a knee on someone's neck for 8 minutes, and Trump reversed it...   /s  Roll Eyes

So if you want to debate, try not to make yourself look too foolish.

Hold up a sec,  I think it is possible that there is something we have all been missing in this.  Perhaps the reason the cops need military hardware to do their job...is because they have been given the wrong job.

Well...you could always sign up to work for these guys, I hear they pay well and are swamped with work right now:

https://www.demandprotest.com

The obvious implication being that:

IF > such a company exists that will cynically gin up some astroturf for the highest bidder...

THEN > all protests are a product of such cynicism and should be disregarded.

Solid logic, let's run with that.

Well, as this all winds down it would appear that "when the looting starts the shooting starts" was an empty promise by an angry old man, impotent to make good on his fantasies of state violence.
