921  Economy / Speculation / Re: Quote me on that - It has started. on: April 12, 2018, 01:18:51 PM
We need to reach 8k first to confirm the double bottom.

Last time it didnt reach 8k and we had a bull trap.

I don't think 8k has any significance but if it makes you happy we did briefly go through it.

That looks like some big money suddenly bought. It takes quite a few million to move the price up that sharply.
922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Japanese Internet Company Prepares to Launch Bitcoin Payroll on: April 12, 2018, 01:10:05 PM
https://www.newsbtc.com/2018/04/12/gmo-internet-group-prepares-to-launch-its-bitcoin-payroll-option/

Quote
While Bitcoin is an appealing investment vehicle its other use cases are less popular. Fewer people spend it to buy goods and services as of right now. When it comes to salaries, Bitcoin has not made too many inroads yet either. If it is up to GMO Internet Group, that plan will come to change fairly soon.

It is not the first time GMO Internet Group has taken a closer look at Bitcoin. The company made it clear they want to work with the leading cryptocurrency in an official capacity. For now, the main focus lies on incorporating a Bitcoin-related payroll for all staffers. **That means the Japanese internet giant will allow employees to receive a chunk of their salary in cryptocurrency**.

With employees determining the salary cut they want to receive in Bitcoin, interesting options become apparent. The minimum is 10,000 Yen, whereas the maximum is 100,000 Yen. These amounts are still relatively low compared to what GMO Internet Group employees earn, but this is the initial stage of rolling out this feature. There is also an incentive for employees exploring this option, as they receive a bonus of up to 10%.
923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why sudden bump in bitcoin? It is now over $8000 on: April 12, 2018, 01:05:00 PM
Few hours before the price of bitcoin was at $7000 but suddenly there is a huge price bump over $1000 and it causes the bitcoin price to go up 17%.And it happened in other cryotocurrency prices as well it is an whales action or what?

But it is good to see the price now. Smiley

It's a mixture of war and sanctions on Russia. The Russia thing makes it hard for them to get money out of Russia, but buying cryptocurrency makes it easier.
924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Coins aren't stock...or am I missing something? on: April 12, 2018, 12:46:08 PM
Why do people continue to act as if an Altcoin is akin to buying stock in a company?

It's because some coins are only marketed through ICOs rather than being open source and allowing people to simply mine them if they want. ICOs behave like stocks because the distribution of the coins is controlled by the developers.

That's why the SEC made a distinction between ICOs (which they felt were scams) and cryptocurrencies which are open source and anyone can mine.
925  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is bitcoin stability important? on: April 12, 2018, 12:35:28 PM
Stability is a function of volume. The US dollar barely moves 2% from day to day because there are several trillions of dollars traded every day, so it's hard for any one player to pump or dump it. So it moves based on fundamentals (the outlook for the US economy) instead.

Bitcoin is still very small - it's market cap is smaller than Apple's, so it's easier for whales to move the price, especially as the trading volume is only about 1/50th of bitcoin's market cap.
926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Two-Factor Authentication also not safe for BTC ! on: April 12, 2018, 12:09:03 PM
2FA doesn’t protect against phishing or MITM attacks where the attacker is able to intercept your 2FA credentials.

This. No system is 100% safe. You need a many pronged approach. First always do a scan of your computer before logging on to financial sites or crypto exchanges. Use a different email and password for each site. Don't use google to find the exchange url - instead bookmark all the important urls and go to them directly. And click the lock icon next to the url - it should confirm that the site you are going to is actually the correct one and gives you details of their security certificate.
927  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptocoins are in a recovering mode on: April 12, 2018, 11:27:55 AM
Waking up this morning with green numbers on the charts: Cryptocoin prices today. Will this mean that everybody believes in Crypto coins again? Let's hope that the prices rises to the moon.

No. It's just speculators buying the lows. When they cash out again in a few days, the prices will fall back.

In order for a large sustained rise we need some good news, and there isn't any on the horizon.
928  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin is eating Quebec on: April 11, 2018, 03:49:20 PM

A Canadian hydropower operation put out the welcome mat for bitcoin miners. Shortly thereafter, it was overrun.

In 2016, Hydro-Québec announced a formal plan to woo data centers like those run by Microsoft and Amazon. Cryptocurrency miners also came calling, and began submitting proposals in September 2017. Interest from them soon became overwhelming, with more requests than the power company could accommodate. Were Quebec to accept even a fraction of them, the province could well become the new global hub of cryptocurrency mining.
929  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Looking for a better exchange: Bittrex and Poloniex? on: April 11, 2018, 03:42:25 PM

** About the support, both exchanges prove quite reliable.
In Poloniex, there is an easily accessible Q & A section and a contact page where you can quickly send a message when a problem occurs.

Yeah it is very easy to send the ticket to them,
but the problem is,they did not reply the ticket as soon as possible.
they claimed that they got a thounsand tickets daily so they could not answer your question/problem as soon as possible.
in reality even though they got a thousand tickets daily, you will not get any reply from them if you do not send a back up ticket.
so that is why many people recommend you guys to trade it outside Poloniex.

This. They've got a six month backlog. I guess it's fine if you are a patient person and don't need your money. For most people though, you are better off on other exchanges.
930  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase to bring cryptocurrency to Wall Street on: April 11, 2018, 03:33:06 PM
I do not think they would be able to do this. Especially in the light of G20 current regulatory status - where any ICOs in United States  are prohibited...

Coinbase doesn't deal in ICOs though. They only trade traditional cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, litecoin and ethereum.
931  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Poloniex continues to fucking suck, despite Circle buying them (13 day withdraw) on: April 11, 2018, 01:56:21 PM

it seems more that they are greedy and do not want to fix the biggest problems of all exchange: lack of sufficient staff to solve the problems of the clients, according to this:

Circle Co-Founder Says Recently-Acquired Poloniex Exchange Will Expand In Asia

Payments technology company Circle announced it plans to hire up to 100 people in Asia to expand its recently acquired Poloniex cryptocurrency exchange, Bloomberg reports today, March 15.

your focus is on expanding and getting more profits instead of focusing on solving the current problem

Why Asia? Is it to get away from American regulators?
932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Effect of Upcoming World Cup Russia 2018 on Bitcoin Price? on: April 11, 2018, 01:04:35 PM
Just few weeks to go ,then world cup kick off start. Will the booming economy of Russia during the world cup affect bitcoins? Will traders gluing their eyes to TV to watch matches or attending stadium reduce the time of trading, and hence the volume in the market?  What do you also think will affect the cryptocurrency market with bitcoin specifically during upcoming world cup.

Is this satire?

Russia's economy is not booming, it's struggling under the weight of sanctions. And I don't think many fans will travel to Russia over fears of how violent Russian football fans are. So no, it won't affect bitcoin.
933  Economy / Speculation / Re: Short term investors dump market on: April 11, 2018, 12:35:04 PM
It's the the reason why the market keeps instability. Many people play in a short term. Do they wanna destroy everything by thinking just about short term income..

There will always be short-term speculators whose aim is to increase their dollar balances not their bitcoin balances. The benefit of these people is that they bring liquidity to the market. Imagine a world without short-term speculators - you wouldn't be able to buy anything as you would have to hunt high and low for a long term investor who was ready to sell.
934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who do you think take biggest responsibility on making the prices fall? on: April 11, 2018, 11:48:25 AM
This is just an analytical question, not blaming nor scapegoating:
1. Who do you think have biggest responsibility on making those prices fall and keep down? the big sharks or purely the market?
2. Whether the ones who made it fall is the same one who keeps it down or not?
3. And what to do make them bounce again, although slowly?

I think the mempool backlogs from October to February played their part.

Noobs were horrified at the fees, and the way it took ages to send stuff. The culprits for that are the exchanges - they hadn't been batching their transactions, even though the ability to do this for years. And some exchanges like GDAX were overpaying fees, which made things considerably worse because it forced everyone else to overpay too.

The result is that several retailers like Steam disabled the ability to pay with bitcoin. That was a big set-back in bitcoin's utility and investors sold as a result.
935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian RBI regulation Doesnt Effect bitcoin and Crypto Space on: April 10, 2018, 04:37:57 PM
I have done some research based on indian local exchanges giving contribution to Coinmarketcap . Because india doesnt have reputed global exchanges like binance , kucoin or bittrex not even small .
So take the local exchange volume
Zebpay - 23 million
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/zebpay/
Unocoin - 2 million
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/unocoin/
Koinex - 10 Million
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/koinex/
Including all other exchanges 10 million

Overall contribution according to coinmarketcap less than 50 million . Lets double this by other transaction in india 100 million.

Just 100 million marketcap does effect crypto space . No way . even if we multiply 100 time it will reach 1 billion .

So indian fud just a big food for whales again they will dump market . Buy from bottom .

For some unknown reason lots of traders sell without doing any investigation as to whether the news is relevant or not. I wonder if this is down to bots programmed to sell when they see the keywords "bitcoin ban" in the google news feed.
936  Economy / Economics / Re: No need to panic sell after the Ban by RBI on: April 10, 2018, 04:18:25 PM
The recent crash in bitcoins has been due to the ban on Bitcoins by the RBI that is the authority controlling all the banks that run in India.

One should know that they have stopped us from converting cryptos into fiat.

Zebpay and other bitcoins wallets are fighting this decision already.

Due to the personal threat thatRBI seemed to face through bitcoins they made a decision that is right now affecting all the people who are involved in bitcoins already and trust me the number is not something that could easily be neglected.

With so much money invested by the individuals in this sector one needs to know that instead of encashing out holding and signing a petition for this cause will do more good.

Just running could prove detrimental for bitcoins .
One should remember the fact that it's Not China ! They are not living in a dictator's rule and for the sake of bitcoins they need to stand up against this decision.

It is not easy to fight regulators. In case of regulators who have been arm twisted by governments to take certain policy decisions, it is still possible to get the courts to reverse it. In this case, the RBI seems to have taken an independent decision, with valid concerns backing it. I doubt if any court will reverse it.

India is a democracy though, isn't it? They can lobby the government and regulators.

(In fact lobbying by silicon valley and the futures exchanges is the reason the Americans haven't banned bitcoin).
937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to get Cryptocurrency Job?? on: April 10, 2018, 04:12:29 PM
You can always advertise your skills on the jobs4bitcoin subreddit (or respond to one of the ads looking for employees):

And of course the marketplace on this forum allows you to sell services and goods
938  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Mining Manufacturer Canaan May Seek an IPO in Hong Kong or the US on: April 10, 2018, 03:50:01 PM

Canaan Creative Co. Ltd, the Chinese company behind the Avalon lineup of hardware equipment which produces ASIC mining chips and rigs, is reportedly considering launching an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong or the US markets.

The company has faced difficulties with getting its stocks listed on mainland Chinese marketplace in the past and now feels that the process in its home country is just too long. Co-chairman Jianping Kong said: “We … prefer listing outside mainland China as we are in a global business.” Canaan also claims that the harsh approach toward bitcoin taken by the government has nothing to do with its decision to look abroad. Kong added that they may later pursue a secondary listing in China by issuing depository receipts.

Usually when companies go public, it means that the founders want to cash out...

Chile Is using Ethereum's Blockchain to track energy data:

https://www.coindesk.com/chile-to-use-ethereums-blockchain-to-track-energy-data/

Quote
Chile will use ethereum's blockchain as a way to record energy sector statistics, its government announced Thursday.

The National Energy Commission, which is a part of the country's Energy Ministry, said it would commit data to the public ethereum ledger in order to "augment levels of security, integrity, traceability and confidence in the information available to the public," according to a statement.

The commission is particularly concerned that its databases can be hacked and manipulated. The ethereum-based approach represents an alternative method for data storage, given that distributing records among a large number of nodes helps to alleviate that concern.

The commission has already begun committing some data to the blockchain, including information about installed electricity-generating capacity, average market prices, marginal costs, hydrocarbon prices and compliance with laws requiring that renewables account for a certain share of electricity generation.

Following this first stage of the project, known as "Energia Abierta" or "Open Energy," the commission will study the results and share them with other companies and government bodies in the sector.
940  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Poloniex continues to fucking suck, despite Circle buying them (13 day withdraw) on: April 10, 2018, 01:46:42 PM
Their Doge wallet has been under maintenance for a week too.

On the bright side they issued the following notice:

https://poloniex.com/press-releases/2018.04.06-Circle-Poloniex-Journey-Six-Weeks-In/

Quote
When the Poloniex-Circle integration began in late February, together we faced a backlog of 159,000 customer issues. Over the past 6 weeks, we have resolved 76,000 of those issues and added 6 new agents to our support team. We have tripled the number of engineers working on our wallet infrastructure and streamlined the process for notifying engineering when technical support is needed.

So Circle has stumped up the money for new staff. However they do need to fix issues quickly - Poloniex's backlogs have been going for nearly a year now, and they're losing customers.
