That partially frozen bubble is hanging on nothing; it's supported due to its geometric shape. Even without the surface, the bubble could be made from steel then partially filled with water and submerged, thus making it neutrally buoyant and motionless. A square platform on pillars could be constructed with features rising above the water in the bubble. Finally above the sphere of the earth's dome we could have a smaller sphere with an environment that will support a very intelligent and creative two mile tall dude with a beard; I'm seeing a Mandelbrot style structure surrounded by water.

When the rays hit bits of the clouds they diffuse the light and glow. If you observe the clouds closest to the camera only bits of the very tips on the underside are lit; the Sun is so far away compared to its height that the rays are almost completely horizontal, they've passed through so much atmosphere only the long reddish wavelengths aren't filtered out. Convergence optically shrinks the clouds with distance and all those bits of light clump together due to foreshortening thus, creating the optical effect of evenly lit clouds in the distance. In your example using an image of parallel tree trunks, you take a side view then show a 2nd view with the camera rotated 90 degrees pointed up. The fucking tree trunks are no longer vertical, you've changed the perspective so they're all horizontal with respect to the camera you deceptive faggot. The images of crepuscular rays posted above all have a horizontal view, the camera isn't pointed up.

Because it's not simple however, at an inch you're going to get blocked by waves. The horizon line is not at a fixed point, it's optics. With the human eye the vanishing point and horizon line are about 3 miles away for the average person. With a zoom lens the distance to the horizon changes and can be extended. Sitting, standing or on the top of the CN tower the horizon line is always at eye level, it moves with you because its an optical phenomenon created by convergence and perspective on a plain and not some curved surface a ship can sail up, over and behind.
