Any changes to nxt.properties comparing with 0.8.3?
Compared to 0.8.3? Several properties related to testnet were added in 0.8.4e, and also for the jetty DoSFilter. Compared to 0.8.5, only defined a few default testnet nodes.

OK, seems working. On my Android stick used nxt.properties from 0.8.3. Don't care much running public node about AE. You can test at http://217.17.88.5:7875/
But the idea is that you unpack the zip file and let the new conf/nxt-default.properties overwrite the previous conf/nxt-default.properties, which shouldn't be modified by you. Your custom settings go into nxt.properties, and this will not be overwritten as it is not in the zip package.

Yea, I know, but I'm a little bit lazy to make a lot of procedures with stick radio mouse Smiley

Who the f*** is panda.nxtbase.com and why does he broadcast blocks every hour or so that get "Failed to accept block XXXXX"

Can't blacklist this shitty node.

This is going on for days..

Yes, having the same issues.

Guys, do you need any Android TV stick for promo at conference? If there is a need, I could configure one and send to somebody attending in conference. Inform me, I'll check the cost of it.

2. No, but if the only changes u want to do is changing the genesis block then u'll trigger a trap

I am really interested to see if/how those planning to clone Nxt will get past this obstacle.    Undecided

Do you mean, that NEM will never appear?
947  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 05, 2014, 06:18:47 PM
1. Could somebody point me to the link of recently announced open source?
2. Does announced open source still have fatal flaw inside it?

Back to client:

I repeat my question regarding coming nexern client: will it be one click software? If yes, maybe it is better to wait for it and then promote or not it as main client software for NXT. Of course, if it'll come after months, then this is another story.
949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 05, 2014, 05:04:53 PM
I have an experiment, Hey Russia (or USA) why dont you turn off your Radar and Drones and ICBM for 72 hours and we can see how many people can do stupid ass shit while your security is down. Oh wait? its your MONEY we're messing with? NM

False. Do you think 1M holder would cry blood about such a big fees for 3 days?

its not about FEES> its about network security. If we dropped all the 1Mil plus we would have like 1/10th of the forgers, and with that assumed nodes dropped, hence security down

About what security are you talking?? Where are approx. 100 accounts with 1M and above. According blockexplorer there are 26518 accounts existing. So 1M accounts are only 0.4% of all accounts. What harm to the network security will be done, if 0.4% nodes will not forge?

More I think about Pooled Forging, more I don't like it. Does anyone have any ideas where this could lead to? Won't we face the same problem as Bitcoin (GHash)?

I put refactoring on hold until the community decides that it's safe for Nxt.

Current NXT circulation:
1. Buy NXT from initial stakeholder.
2. Register alias / send message / issue asset and pay fee to stakeholder.
3. Goto :1

As I always said, forging was created for stakeholders. You (community) always said that "when we'll have more transactions, fees would be better distributed". False! Forging is not dependent on fee in expected block. The only thing that will change is that stakeholders would get back their sold NXT faster.

Nxt is good platform. It is another P2P software like Bittorent. We need to find another way to prevent spam and get rid of NXT.

I would like to offer an experiment:

Please 1M NXT and above holders stop forging for 3 days. Lets make countdown of 72 hours and lets forgers with less than 1M NXT post their results of forging during these 72 hours.

Just to know: nexern client will be one click software for NXT?
952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: March 04, 2014, 06:52:58 PM
I count 224 active peers and 403 known peers. Any comparison? Are these normal numbers?

https://www.peerexplorer.com/

Reports this:

Peers online: 511,  Claimed peers online: 77,

1731 known Grin

Btw, ask him again to support acting via address and not via IP. I'm already running 9 FREE VPS just for fun. I must be made profitable (newbies could get NXT that way).

In peerexplorer I see some strange information:

I run public node on TV sitck, which runs 0.8.3 and has a name Android TV
I also run private node, which runs 0.7.6 with name PC

Then I check peerexplorer.com, I see, that my public node runs 0.7.6 and name is PC, instead of Android TV with 0.8.3

OK...  0.8.3  &  0.8.4e work like champs...  but why do they crash if left unattended...  is there some type of timeout setting we need to change when we are away from our workstations for several hours?    Undecided

thnx  Smiley
Never crashed for me. What do you see in nxt.log when they crash?

For me I see errors, which one of them starts with:

DEBUG: Invalid peer address: nxt3.boxedhosts.info java.net.UnknownHostException: nxt3.boxedhosts.info: Name or service not known

Nxt is too difficult to setup.

Yes, unfortunately it is...there are third-party clients that are easier to install, but the default one that most people use and trust is too difficult for a non-technical oriented user to install and run. Creating an installer that at least installs NRS and creates a shortcut to open the NRS URL should be among the top priorities for the project imho.

Nxt Fees are too high. - I know we have discussed this and have plans in the future, but I think at some point we need to have a concrete plan in place that is very visible to new comers to see.

The plan is to allow fractional amounts of NXT's. Once this is done, the fee will almost certainly be lowered.

For me, I'm not concerned about the fee at all, I simply want to participate while not putting my Nxt at risk. I already run a VPS that is managed by opticalcarrier, but if it's not hallmarked, what real benefit is it providing?

You are forging even if you are not running a hallmarked node.

Also, in relation to this, if I were a new user and followed the directions provided by the wiki to begin forging, they would have no success, atleast with Chrome on Win 7

What's the issue with Chrome on Windows 7?

Second bolded question. Is it really any known problem with Chrome on Win7?
956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] Public auditing of stakeholder list on: March 03, 2014, 04:50:38 PM
Hello everybody,

i have a short question regarding the following NXT address:

10715382765594435905

Is this ^ an address from an exchange or any other common service? I am just asking because i have seen several accounts paying for a stake with only one "hop" away from the address above. If it is a common (exchange) address then it would be clear why this is the case.

Thanks!

Seems to me it is bter.com account.

People, what is the need of big SWARM today in promoting NEM?? IPO is already finished, devs are working on code. What we have to promote today, when no coin released and no code is done? What if new people come to NEM and see that meanitme there is nothing to do with NEM? They will come, see nothing today and will not return for a long time.

My proposal is to calm down a little bit, let devs code or better help them and when something real appears in the air, start promoting.

That's my 2 NEM Smiley

All publicity is good publicity, I see your point but no harm is done by this. Its nothing to loss but possibility of gain therefor we should do this. My two NEM Grin

I agree with the first guy's "two NEM". There is indeed harm from promotion (well, aggressive promotion) this early. There is nothing new people can really do at this point, so any "salesmanship" is going to come off as completely self absorbed.

Sure, you're in, but they are out and can't even get in if they wanted to. Any new person will see how the promotion benefits you (us), but where does it benefit them? No matter how clever, any big campaign is going to appear to be just a bunch of shills trying to get their investment ready for dumping.

Maybe a light campaign would do "no harm" as you put it. And planning ahead never hurts! But, shouldn't you wait a bit to where new people can at least buy in if they really like what they see?

And instead of SWARM promotion, maybe is better to "clean the house" at this moment (audit stakeholder list, give some proposals for devs plan, look for more possible features with NEM and when time comes, test hardly the testNEM).

My additional 2 NEM Smiley

Ok guys, We all want NEM to succeed. You guys do it your way, any effort for NEM is good. Cheers .

+1 Agree, preparation is the only thing we can do today not to harm NEM.

P.S. Asking exchanges to add NEM is nonsense today. No one exchange even will think about it, while there is a lot of altcoins around and we don't have any coin and blockchain.

My next 2 NEM. When stakeholders receives their stakes, I'll have 6 NEM less Smiley
