idiots!

my kid just called me and said daddy two girls are sunbathing, and when i saw i thought my self DONT EVER GO TO drk thread again

guys please this is not pornocoin thread... take it easy please there are kids watching this

Well it's not exactly porn Rux (or would even be classed as soft porn). I think a bit of guidance and education for your kids is probably all taht's required (I'm a dad with a daughter; I know what it's like). It doesn't thrill me too much either seeing images like this but, Darkcoin being something that's going to turn centralised nanny state control on its head is hardly going to follow norms of censorship or conservatism.

[Wallet] Qt v1.4 + Electrum desktop v1.0.2 + 1Million RDD design contest

To get the latest information about Reddcoin, follow our blog:

Reddcoin

Thanks for the info. I moved to Qt v1.4 yesterday and it seems to be working well. Just noticed it staking on 1 635 370 RDD (to generate interest of 2 872) so that's in keeping with this upgraded feature "Improved parameters for optimal staking (transaction sizes are automatically kept between 1.5m-2m RDD)".

Is it possible to subscribe to the blog? There's no field to add an email address. I know I can use an external page to monitor it but an easy subscription add would be good.

Jesus. My mistake I guess. I sent myself some DRK to another PC and it arrived instantly. That's all I was commenting on. I dunno why I ever comment in this thread, people are fucking assholes here.

Don't take it personally jt7382. The people here are a very good bunch, helpful, supportive and (mostly) welcoming. But, there has been troll shit and manipulation on a scale almost unimaginable. We've had some people in this thread using all sorts of underhanded methods to insert little bits of FUD here and there and just continuously bring the tone down. So, many of the old timers are super sensitive and you only have to innocently describe something in a manner that has the tiniest potential for being read as FUD and you're instantly cast as a villain. When DRK's well on its way to adoption and real-world use I expect this phenomena will abate.

Chill everyone....I don't think JT7382 was trying to be smart or sarcastic about instant transactions....he's just using DRK and made a comment.

So, I'm officially outed.

My strategy has been:

1. Keep the conversation bumping until the project is where it is, out of pre-production and into production
2. Keep the thread on page 1
3. Trying to get people thinking about the various possibilities
4. Provide some level of balance to the people who would assume this is all about using a currency for illegal use
5. Do research for lazy people
6. Broadening the conversation with external content, where possible
7. Random amusement - you need to have a little light fun when creating something big
8. Bumping the thread off mostly  trolled pages
9. Keep those thread update notification emails going out
10. Troll and FUD watch

I'll be glad to leave this forum once the thread is locked. Most of the useful and valuable conversations are now taking place on the darkcointalk forum.

Now we are in production, my post count will likely drop.

Well done everyone - the project is nearly live. So many projects fail to see themselves past the alpha - beta stage.

We are ready for adoption. Our business in now north, to the moon  Grin

Good on you coins101! I've certainly learnt much from your many posts, as I'm sure have many others. Thanks.

Darkcoin solves this problem by implementing an ahead-of-time CoinJoin implementation called Darksend.

There we go again ... even after all the shitstorm around here trying to make a point about leaving cj out of the picture ... it just got primetime, front row seats at Darksend's game ... Way to go  Undecided

Bugger! I'll be the first to put my hand up and say I missed that bit altogether!

TaoOfSaatoshi has it been released yet? I just checked Twitter and no sign of it. That needs to be rewritten something like:

"Darkcoin solves this problem by implementing Darksend, an all new denomination and multi-round mixing technology using a fully decentralised MasterNode network that then allows for anonymous sending of funds."

Good spotting (of the bleeding obvious) SlientBit.

Great work TsuyokuNaritai. Thank you for taking on this important task.
As mentioned above 99% of the thanks goes to David, Vertoe, eu-Robert, & others, I just wanted to get that latest draft in front of lots of eyes so we could get it perfect & settled. Smiley

Okay, thanks for clarifying. Great work from all those people too. It reads really well and demonstrates the professionalism of the Darkcoin team.

It's very good Tsuyoku. The only thing I would query is the notion that all of Darkcoin's code will suddenly become open source on the 29th. It's only Darksend that's been closed, the rest of it has been open source for sometime. Maybe this bit

Quote
Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin will be opened and published. Darkcoin will become the first open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry.

it should be reworded to "Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin's Darksend technology will be opened and published. This is the final piece of the overall system to be opened up. Darkcoin will then become the first fully open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry."

+1

OK, I've made that change to the text. Is everyone happy with this:

Darkcoin Passes Security Review, Prepares to Open Source

Security researcher Kristov Atlas has concluded his code review and security audit of Darkcoin. He was solicited by the developers of Darkcoin, based on 4+ years of professionally reviewing C/C++ software, to review the code and suggest any changes which could improve the software. Kristov Atlas concluded that Darkcoin's claims of functional anonymity are well-founded. He did suggest a few concerns, which the Darkcoin team immediately fixed (the fixes will be released Monday as part of the next scheduled update to the Darkcoin client). Mr. Atlas' primary concern was that a bad actor could launch a so-called Sybil attack against the network. Evan Duffield, lead developer of Darkcoin, closed this potential attack vector and in doing so also found a way to increase the overall anonymity of Darkcoin transactions.

The new update to Darkcoin, "Release Candidate 5" (RC5), will be made publically available Monday, September 22. It fixes the concerns raised by Mr. Atlas, increases anonymity, fixes bugs, and improves the user experience by implementing a new interface. After eight months of continuous improvement, the developers of Darkcoin are confident that the currency is finally ready to meet the scrutiny of coders world-wide. Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin's Darksend technology will be opened and published. This is the final piece of the overall system to be opened up. Darkcoin will then become the first fully open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry.

Future plans include the adoption of a new Instant Transactions technology which Duffield has described in his whitepaper [https://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/InstantTX.pdf]. This technology will allow Darkcoin to compete with other nearly instantaneous transaction systems such as credit cards. If successful, such an idea could revolutionize crypto-currencies by providing a decentralized payment system usable in retail stores and other face-to-face situations. The delay between sending and confirming transactions would be reduced from one hour (with currencies such as Bitcoin) to as little as twenty seconds. A future press release will describe the system in greater detail.

The Darkcoin client and more information can be obtained at their website: http://www.darkcoin.io.

About Darkcoin:

Bitcoin works with an unprecedented level of transparency that most people are not used to dealing with. Every transaction that has ever happened is stored permanently in a ledger that is made public for the world to see, forever.

Darkcoin solves this problem by implementing an ahead-of-time CoinJoin implementation called Darksend. A user that wants to be anonymous can use the built-in technology to utilize the Masternode network to make their transaction nearly impossible to track.

still nobody wants to guess who the top poster in this thread is?

Let me hear your guesses.

I am on page 200, still a long way to go for my script. (30 min?)

Don't forget georgem than many, many posts have been deleted, sometimes huge tranches of them like what happened back at this time just prior to arriving at 3000 pages, so your results won't be entirely accurate.

Can anyone explain to me what has happened to about 10 pages of this thread? I went to bed last night with this post #59600 from MangledBlue on page 2980 (in response to masternode's overview of his background and crypto involvement):

Quote
It's a pleasure to meet you. If I can help in any way, big or small, I surely will :-)

...and this morning I've hit refresh on that page only to have it go back to page 2970 and #59381 and I can't find that previous post of Mangled. What's appearing on this page is all new (i.e. I'm not reading the previous posts I've already read) but what happened to the numbering?

confused!

I guess this relates to the BCT moderators deleting posts? A extraordinary number seem to have gone though. I've just checked back through my browser tabs from yesterday that haven't yet been refreshed. This post from thelonecrouton was at #59595 on page 2980

Wow, it's been a great news day for Darkcoin!

Confirmation - or very nearly - that RC5 will be open sourced, the birth of The Foundation, and some heavy hitters stepping out of the shadows...  Grin

Oh and I have made a simple Multisig UI for DRK... https://darkcointalk.org/threads/quick-and-very-dirty-multisig-ui-in-python-qt.2197/

CCMF!  Kiss

It's now post #59308 on page 2966. That means a total of 287 posts have disappeared! Good grief.

(Yeah Mangled, can't find it but haven't done a search on your text)

Hell - at that rate we should have hit 3000 pages already - that's crazy - ugh

Yes. And I searched on your text, your original post is definitely gone, only the recreation in my post is showing up in search results. This forum is either seriously flaky, the BCT moderators are just deleting stuff at random (and there was absolutely nothing in your post that would have even remotely warranted it being deleted) or a combination of both.

Hilarious virtual late night drinking binge on display here Mangled. Can just imagine you and Georgem sitting in a bar somewhere and you, in a blurry slur pulling your beloved MN logo out to show to George and, in a drunken hush of reverence and momentary sombreness as you present him your masterpiece, he studies the image with a slightly devious sparkle in his eyes. Five minutes later after returning from a trip to the men's room, George is no longer sitting on the stool where you left him, there's some sort of bizarre blue cartoon character covered in stylised D's sitting in his place. He's staring straight at you as you approach and then with his arms wide open greets you "Heeyyy there Mangled Man....say HELLLOOOO to Darkcoin Monster!!!" You stop dead in your tracks, stand with your mouth agape for a moment as you notice that Darkcoin Monster is a parodied collage of the symbols from your Masternode image. A sudden rampant surge of anger wells up from inside you "Arrghh you spotty nosed, ungrateful bastard...." WHACK...BOOF....KAPOW....the bar descends into chaos as Mangled Blue (in one corner) takes on Darkcoin Monster in the other. Pretty soon word is out and people start arriving to see a good bit of biff going down. Questions abound throughout the crowded room "Who is this Darkcoin Monster?"...."What is Darkcoin?".....BANG....WOLLOP.....CACHOWY.....the fight goes on but due to the level of inebriation it's more slapstick than brawl....people are soon laughing and chuckling as Mangled tries to rip the D's off Darkcoin Monster. Darkcoin Monster counteracts by grabbing his opponent and yelling in his ear...."For fucks sake Mangled, I love your Masternode icon....I love it you hear....Darkcoin Monster is me loving it......MANGLED!!!!" Finally Mangled, exhausted from all the punches that didn't connect but just made him lose control of himself stops and draws himself up to Darkcoin Monster/Georgem's face and slurs out "Yooo ruelly luuv itt?"...."Yes ya daft bastard...I love it"....the crowd disperses as the "fight" has drawn to a close and Mangled and Georgem pick each other up and go back to their stools for another drink...but Darkcoin Monster has been seen now by many and the questions are still being asked as many approach asking for autographs....it's fight-club marketing for DRK...could be quite effective.

And on this day, the God of formatting decided he did not want to live in this universe anymore.

RIP in peace.

And then the God of Redundancy joined to God of Formatting.  Tongue

I thought Mangled Bleu was an American Indian, living on a reservation and lacking the enzyme for alcohol metabolism, what's he doing speaking Türkçe all of a sudden?

When in Rome (or Instanbul) do as the locals do (plus on this day he'd swallowed a babel fish so was talkin' funny).

I've been offline for the past 18 hours and have only just caught up on this white paper and the additional 13 pages added to this thread!

That's a superbly thought through and elegant solution Evan to this problem that has been a thorn in the side of decentralised crypto since the beginning. Congratulations to you and anyone from the DRK team that's assisted. The white paper is beautifully written.

I feel very honoured to be able to come on here, take part in this community and express my thanks. You're probably one of the most dedicated and professional people that's ever been involved in crypto and, frankly, financial transaction/monetary systems. Your greater understanding of economics and human behavioural factors that determine the strengths and flaws of financial systems as well as your deep understanding of the technical architectural issues networks like this need to address is what's separating Darkcoin from virtually everything else.

it's great to be witnessing this.

Guys, you need to carefully reread Evan's chat log where he first mentioned the instant transaction system. I'm almost certain it doesn't involve masternodes, for several reasons:

1) He says that it won't require Bitcoin to hard fork. How could you implement MNs into the protocol, plus instant transactions, without a hard fork?
2) He clearly says that he has found a way to make Bitcoin transactions instant...he then mentions that it is fully compatible with DarkSend and so will work with Darkcoin. But it's clear from his wording that the system is designed and intended for Bitcoin, first and foremost.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/possible-darkcoin-press-release-rc5-open-source-instant-transactions-kristov-code-review.2399/#post-21184

From the horse's mouth:

Quote
"Evan Duffield, lead developer of Darkcoin, intends to release a white paper on September 19 detailing a new technology called 'Instant Transactions'. This technology will allow for crypto-currencies such as Darkcoin to compete with nearly instantaneous transaction systems such as credit cards for point-of-sale situations while not relying on a centralized authority. If successful, such an idea could revolutionize cryptocurrency, by shortening the delay in confirmation of transactions from as long as an hour (with Bitcoin) to as little as twenty seconds"

Edit: It's not for Bitcoin
956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Darksend Is Live! on: September 18, 2014, 03:50:31 PM
If nothing else, instant transactions are going to make headlines.

Hopefully Visa/Mastercard will get the shits and raise a fuss about it - even more publicity. What we really need to do is piss off Apple's legal team somehow...  Grin

If we are ever going to change the name as was speculated some pages ago, it should be iCoin. They said that they had done research that they wouldn't get into trouble using the name.

Now the devs have abandoned it, and it would probably be easy to take over the brand so that the old iCoin holders would agree - maybe compensate the old coins with a few new ones (i.e. darkcoins).  Smiley

This is all that I found that's left of it:

iCoin or iCash - logo: an apple without the bite taken out of it, maybe in black...  Cool

I know you're just free balling with this and it has a degree of tongue-in-cheek about it, but let's be careful, the whole notion of what Darkcoin is and what it represents could get terribly mixed up with association to Apple's markings.

Feels like we may be ready to mount an attack on .0086 level today. Looking for more upside momentum. Next stop .01s
It's a standoff. Nobody wants to sell, and nobody wants to pay more than they have to...

Shit, now I have to download it... I just watched Paint Your Wagon and Every Which Way But Loose. Damn it's manly in here. Where's my 30mm Cannon Leg, dammit! Fuck you Tuco!

There are two kinds of people in the world; those who buy DRK, and those who dig...

You might as well add Dirty Dozen, Good The Bad & the Ugly, How The West Was Won and the Guns Of Navarone onto your watch list for good measure.

Just one more reason to give it a name that actually describes it... By it's very name, DarkSend is feeding the trolls exactly what they need to undermine it.

I disagree. I'm sure many on here have read your passionate argument for changing the name of DarkSend because you feel it doesn't describe what it actually is and does, however, to then make a jump to a conclusion that the name DarkSend is feeding trolls is a conclusion I don't think is correct or provable.

I think the name DarkSend is perfectly valid, has been in use for a considerable period of time now (in the scheme of things) and, to me, conveys exactly what this is all about. It's for sending money "darkly", invisibly, anonymously, privately. The fact that there are some steps to achieving the goal of sending money "darkly" (i.e. you mix first then choose to use those coins later when you want to make an anonymous payment) I think is irrelevant. DarkSend covers the whole ground of what DarkCoin is about and what it offers. I honestly think you're bringing confusion and doubt into the discussion because you're so besotted on the need for DarkSend's name to be changed to attempt to explain the mixing process followed by the send process but it's just not necessary Camo. We all understand what you're getting at but it's a brand name, it doesn't have to explain itself to a specific level of function and process any more than Apple had to initially explain that iTunes was not a collection of midi files of your favourite pieces of recorded music, it's actually the music in MP3 and covers everything from pop music to classical to audio podcasts; a whole lot more than "tunes".

Many people on here have said this (DarkSend name change) needs to be dropped but you're now pushing a continual line that it's a big problem and FUDers are going to leverage off it. I really think you need to consider what your true motive is and why you just can't accept what the majority think is the best course of action. Is it because you're just "so much more intelligent" than the majority? You bring many good points to this discussion but you're also one of the most obnoxious self-centred arrogant and pig-headed individuals on this thread. On this DarkSend naming question, I think you need to hold your tongue.

I still think we should have three terms to denote a three-step process:

DarkSplit--Denomination Phase
DarkMix--Mixing Process
DarkSend--Sending money to others

It's too confusing....

Taking my iTunes analogy a little further, there's no way Apple would have split that up into:

iTuneLibrary
iTuneSync
iTunePay

yet iTunes has a number of functions within it that are catered for in different ways. The ultimate purpose of it is to provide a platform and ecosystem for delivery of content in a manner that users of the service find useful across many devices and that Apple makes a large profit from.

DarkSend is a good name and explains what the overall concept is very well.

I have a little over 1200000 redd and I get about 1400 - 1800 redd a day. Does that seem right?

Complete and utter BS Cointang. If this is how much you're receiving EVERYDAY on your 1.2mil RDD then the coin is seriously broken as inflation will kill it within weeks.

I have 3.1 mil RDD and I see a payment of around 1,500 coins every 3 to 4 days (sometimes faster/sometimes slower than this and sometimes greater amounts). If you do the maths this works out to around 5% per annum which is right on target for what PoSV is supposed to provide.

If you're going to tell tall stories, I think you need to at least work through the figures and come up with something half reasonable before blurting out a BS statement like that, it just misleads everyone and causes noobs to worry that their wallet staking mustn't be working.
