Thanks for payment, starting another month now.

Time for another month, thanks.
962  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: October 26, 2013, 06:46:26 PM
The problem is Voltage regulator from 12V to 1.2 V
2 x 16 A, so @ 1.2 V it is 38.4 W , so 2.4 W per chip max.
@ 282 Avalons are about 2 W
@ 450 Mhz our board is about 92 W so 5.75 W per chip i believe it's almost  the same with bitburner

That is the limitation of K16

But if you have extra PCBs you can throw less chips in there (or beef up the regulator, I'm not sure what size the traces are you can check on the board)
963  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: October 26, 2013, 06:43:38 PM
I just received 50 avalon1s pretty cheap and pcbs are on their way. After I successfully assemble them, I would like to try out some overclocking, with extreme cooling (read: dry ice). Someone mentioned OC above, and was shot down. The K16 uses a standard PC PSU, so as long as one is used that can dish out the increased wattage, we should be alright with replacing the clock and lowering voltage resistors to the chips, right?

The clock is in the chip.  I'm not sure what a voltage resistor is or what lowering it would do.  Don't asphyxiate yourself.

Now, you are being silly. He obviously referred to the other device - the Williams AC unit.

That looks like a furnace, not AC.

sup, use escrow if you deal with this guy and definitely don't use paypal.
966  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt-Coin without having to mine using CPU/GPU/ASIC Possible? on: October 26, 2013, 02:55:44 PM
Sure it's possible, you could just require that the miner send "hello" in to mine a block, but limit the amount of blocks you can mine to one per day per ip address.  But then you'd have a botnet come in with 1 million computers and mine all the blocks in one day.

Plus you'll need to make a little cable and get those pogo type pins to mate it to the board.  Maybe something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spring-Loaded-Pogo-Pin-Adapter-for-Jtag-cable-0-1-/260430819053?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3ca2e2eeed but I'm not sure of the spacing.

The software is free (MPLAB)

Now that this is coming to a close are there any in-stock chips available for shipping now that we could design a board for?  What's the lead time on bitfury chips?
969  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: October 24, 2013, 10:17:47 PM
Hello, is there currently any plans for adding support for generating single bitcoin addresses or whole wallets using own entropy? From lets say a dice like this: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Dice_%28typical_role_playing_game_dice%29.jpg

Maybe you could write your dice results directly to /dev/random
970  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 24, 2013, 02:54:16 PM
Question for you. And please correct me if I'm wrong in my specs....

The power draw from a single 6 pin PCI-E connector is supposed to be 75 watts. From an 8 pin it's supposed to be 150 watts (I think).

So, if you're putting 3 x K16 on a 6 pin, do you have some sort of 8 pin to 6 pin adapter for the extra power?

I can't tell in the picture, but what's the connector on the power supply end?  Is it one of those modular plugs?  If that's the case then he's fine because he's only putting 30W (or whatever the K-16 draws) out of the 6 pin PCI-E connectors.  He should be concerned about the power draw on the PS end connector and wiring.

This is the cause:

Bitcoin URIs do not support scientific notation, and I don't know why Coinbase expected that to work. Bitcoin-Qt (rightly) gives an error when trying to parse this URI.

They probably didn't do it on purpose, it's likely the default in android to switch to scientific notation at some number of decimals.
972  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.5) on: October 23, 2013, 04:25:02 PM

Thanks, will give this a try tonight.  FWIW, the last run (not your latest code) failed due to exhausting file handles.  lsof lists lots of ~/.armory/databases/leveldb_blkdata/*.sst files open.

If the problem isn't the code, you can always increase the max # of files open, that's a pretty common problem.

Time for the old you send me 0.00005 on coinbase and I'll send you 0.00006 in bitcoin-qt
974  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Online quiz to see if you are more "left, right, Authoritarian or Libertarian" on: October 22, 2013, 01:56:57 PM
I think it is more along the lines of, "I think the way to solve problems is not by using force and violence of the inefficient state welfare, but voluntary charity programs that help people who are in need and do not have other options.

I tend to be a fan of allowing people to disagree, even when it comes to things like charity. The state doesn't alalow disagreement as if I do not pay for your method of welfare and choose a different one that I think is 10x better, I get locked in a cage or shot for my disagreement.

Well you can disagree with taxes, but you still have to pay them.  Anyone thinking that the poor will be taken care of voluntarily through charity without welfare is naive.  Same for basic science research, education, libraries, etc.  Basically all the things that contribute to a great society.

how many TH is he expecting to start mining with?

I think there were 2 batches of chips shipped.
976  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Online quiz to see if you are more "left, right, Authoritarian or Libertarian" on: October 22, 2013, 03:13:47 AM
Out of curiosity, how many people are just now finding out they're libertarian?  Really, I think most people, especially those who don't want to involve themselves in popular politics, will find they're libertarian; anyone who simply believes in being and letting be counts as a good person to me.  The only difference is whether the person self-identifies as libertarian or not; considering the amount of dissenters toward the increasingly authoritarian America, it is quite easy to see, we at least generally agree that we don't want what's become.

The problem is that there's the libertarian "let people smoke pot if they want I don't care" and there's the libertarian "let people die in the streets if they don't have money to eat I don't care".  The latter keeps most people from identifying with libertarianism.
977  Economy / Speculation / Re: How to predict crash? on: October 22, 2013, 01:53:41 AM
It's different from other markets because it's difficult to get in and out.  Buying and selling BTC are not really easy.  Hell, holding BTC isn't even easy.
978  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen when the 21M bitcoin will be minned on: October 21, 2013, 04:00:37 PM
Then why don't you ask yourself the same question about Bitcoin?  Or does Bitcoin have some secret intrinsic value which ixCoin lacks.

I only asked why wouldn't it go up since you said Bitcoin would go up when it stopped printing coins so if that's rhe case then the valid question is, why wouldn't ixCoin then also go up since it will stop printing coins in less than 18 months, way ahead of Bitcoin.

I have no idea why ixCoin would go up but not do I or you or anyone know why and how Bitcoin will go up when it runs out of coins, hence the reason for my original question.

An answer or even an educated guess would be nice cause all this circle jerking is not helping anyone.  Thanks anyway, but it looks like you don't even know why Bitcoin will go up let alone ixCoin.

Good luck!

Bitcoin has a pretty wide adoption and it can actually be used to buy stuff and it's in the news constantly.  It's a decent currency to bet on.  ixCoin has.... ?
979  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen when the 21M bitcoin will be minned on: October 21, 2013, 06:44:03 AM
Well, is like to know why Bitcoin would continue going up and if so then why wouldn't ixCoin continue gong up.  I'm just looking for some informed answers but those are difficult to find.

You should diversify if you've got the ends.

Good luck!

More important to ask yourself why would ixCoin go up, not why wouldn't it go up.

And diversification involves investment in fiat.

Read all the news and apply various trend analysis to all the charts.  Then buy or sell based on that.  You'll probably be correct half the time.  You'll at least generate a lot of fees for the exchanges who will love you.
