Choo choo, all the overstock coins will soon hit the market. Cheesy

An overstock of coins. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

you really think they will directly sell 100% of the coins they get?!
imho they decided to jump in the bitcoin train not only to expand their marketshare, but also to make even more profit hodling some of it.. I mean, isnt that all about profit after all? Wink
I'm not sure you understand how this works: They do not accept Bitcoins directly. They use a payment processor called Bitpay that guarantees them USD, and Bitpay of course sells them on the open market.

They use Coinbase.

What is coinbase? You moron.

So, actually using bitcoins for anything other than pure speculation causes even more volatility and the price to go down.

More about overstock! Going to make an account there... just in case  Grin

http://www.wired.com/business/2014/01/overstock-bitcoin-live/

Major retailers intend to convert to fiat on the fly. Purchasing items is equivalent to selling on an exchange. The price will drop without sufficient new fiat flowing into the exchanges.

If only I could fart bitcoin out my unicorn ass! Cheesy

I've tried many times and even ended up in the ER on one occasion. Several coins that symbolized fiat currency were removed from my rectum. I embarrassingly explained that I had attempted to create bitcoins through intestinal alchemy.

967  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc-e now has the biggest daily volume on: January 09, 2014, 12:28:40 AM
Am I missing something here?  Huobi still has the largest volume http://bitcoinity.org/markets/list?currency=ALL&span=24h, with BTCe in 2nd place.  What am I missing?

You missed the FUD train. Try a little harder to jump on board next time.
968  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 09, 2014, 12:23:20 AM
I've had about USD500 go missing from Gox after cancelling a buy order earlier today.

NOT HAPPY!

have you looked at the trade history?

I cancelled a buy once after it started buying, instead of just halting where it was - it sold back what I bought at market to unwind the entire order.

There's nothing in the trade history and the price never went near what the buy order was set at anyway.   No open orders remain.  The money has just disappeared.  The account wasn't hacked, I cancelled the order pressed the cancel button and watched my funds evaporate.

No response from Gox and its 24 hours later.

Truly over these useless motherfuckers.

Spam your story all over Reddit. FUD will drop the price. Buy low and with any luck, recover your losses shortly thereafter.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Where on earth do you see this?

I'm seeing 180k BTC volume on huobi in the past 24h here: http://bitcoinity.org/markets/list?currency=ALL&span=24h

Yea, I'm puzzled too. I posted in another thread just assuming the volume had left, because well... it makes sense that eventually those scoundrels at Huobi will get busted.

*edit*

also, i don't check facts. Because well... facts are irrelevant in this market.
970  Economy / Speculation / Re: btc-e now has the biggest daily volume on: January 08, 2014, 09:19:46 PM
So the fee is 0.2%? No tier system like others? I wasn't completely sure from their FAQ.

Zero % if you bribe the operators.

^LOL! Huge volume leaves Huobi and mysteriously pops up on BTCe? hahaha. Pretty clear what's going on.

Yes, the Chinese went to bed and Europe just got home from work.

Honestly if you put half as much energy into learning and actually trading than trying to reduce the price so you can buy you'd be a gazillionnaire.

Not likely. I don't actually view links before posting them.

Something going on with Huobi's volume, or lack thereof. In other news, which I'm sure is unrelated, BTCe experienced a huge uptick in volume. Discussion here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=404961
This happens when shit happens in China and the Chinese pump manipulation enchantment is broken - price falls until it approaches support levels on real exchanges indicated by an increasing volume on the real exchanges .

Has the owner of Huobi been arrested yet?

BTCe volume is about as real as that on Houbi.

Side note: Anyone else find it interesting that BTCe's trade engine can handle such extraordinary volume, not just bitcoin but all the alts too, without significant lag? Hmm...
I don't think its fake, just a lot of bots in play and the fee is low compared to other exchanges. I've been able to do large trades there just fine. As for the speed, I always thought it was the vodka-powered Russian engineering. It really is a great platform to use. When the shit is hitting the fan(high volume), you can count on btce to run like a well-oiled Russian nuclear war machine while all the other exchanges crap out.

What do you think those bots are doing? They are likely owned by the same trader or a small group working together. I wouldn't be surprised to learn they have a special no-fee arrangement with BTCe.

Also interesting are the frequent account log outs after dumping begins. How much does one have to pay the operators to get dump priority?

Does it belong to them already, I thought it would have to go to court to actually seize them properly.
I too was wondering how the gov could sell seized assets of someone who has not had a trial.

The accused consents to the sale without waiving the right to a trial. Why would someone do that? Because both the accused and gov realize the asset will likely be worthless if they wait until the case is resolved.

Ross may never see the cash. But, at least there is something waiting for him if he can prove his innocence.

i just want to thank everybody involved in this thread for contributing to my sentiment measurements. you're all so honest and excitable and treat wall-watching like a true sport.

And I'd like to thank you for your TA, which is completely useless for everything other than sounding like a pretentious prick.
