^ Negative commissions for market makers.  I don't understand exactly how that will work, but it sounds innovative.  Reminds me of the investor option at just-dice.com to bankroll the casino (and thus share in the profits).

Bitcoin seems to promote this idea of "equal-opportunity" between peers in a market-driven manner that I really like (just-dice.com investors, bitfinex lenders, BTC-china market makers).

read the part on market makers...in relation to the trading fees going back to people opposed to the exchange

I am not fully understanding what qualifies you for a rebate.. but gee.. a lil counter to taobao negative sentiment.
The trollbox is going nuts about this news. I dont understand why:

Vouchers - old news

Modified fee structure - means what, the manipulators can play again?

Reduced withdrawal fee - irrelevant, maybe even bad news.

Thanks notme.  If I understand correctly, anyone who posts a bid or an ask will be paid a small fee should their bid or ask be filled.  The fee will be paid by the person who initiates the "market sell" or "market buy."

I see from notme's link that this maker-taker idea has been around since 1997 and is actually in use in some major US markets.  This seems like a great way to increase liquidity, tighten spreads, and perhaps reduce volatility in our bitcoin markets.  I'm curious what the down-side of the maker-taker model is...

Just funded my bitstamp account from USA for first time.  Wire arrived in 3 days.  Significantly faster than mt Gox. Will be interested in comparing withdrawal times. Still awaiting funds from mt gox withdrawal on 12/26.

still? from 12/26 i wouldn't say "still waiting" until it's been over 6months (unless you paid 5%)

Well we are finally at a true crossroads.

Does anyone want to buy at these levels? How much fresh fiat is entering the markets currently?  Does anybody want to sell at these prices?

Hopefully within the next week we can know whether the initially rally will be continued or whether some people are going to try to sell us down.

I put it about 50/50%.

+1,

I'm asking myself the same thing, yesterday i could get ~$900 for my coins. If I sell now, i will get a much lower price and the chance of it shooting back up is too great.

I'm Hodling, I've still got some dirty fiat on exchange in case of cheap coins.
