What happens if you send btc to the payment address after the hour is up?  My payment has been sitting at pending with 0 confirms for like 30 minutes...
Send them an email and they will either return funds (unlikely) or change it to paid manually (more likely).

did you include a "hefty" transaction fee, like 6-10 cents?
9602  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 02:57:14 PM
I am getting confirmations, ordered 4 units total.
Total outlay ~$1787 (bought 2.6BTC in anticipation and 0.4 instant buy on Coinbase today)
Anticipated hash: 1912GH/s
Less than $1/GH!
9603  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 02:25:20 PM
ordered a couple for starters, thinking about getting a couple more.

Not all of us live in China with subsidized electricity prices.
I live in northern europe and we have 0,12$ residential without any subsidies.
i pay 0,08$ as i got a 1man company registered and get commercial pricing.

There is a lot of variation depending on where you live. Just have a scan of this list:

I like Kuwait-1c/kwh, but the source is from 1966(??).

When I read the S1 upgrade sentence on page 1, I understood it to mean the HEATSINK is compatible with the S1 board, and they may sell the HEATSINK as upgrades to current S1 owners as an upgrade.

It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

of course, not. they will sell you S3 boards, additional fan and box(?) to attach to the current heatsink.
9606  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 30, 2014, 01:45:59 AM
Question for BITMAIN regarding the upgrade s1 for s3 how will this work do we send old units back to you or do we just buy upgrade blades and plug in and have new firmware flash for units to work. How exactly is the upgrade going to work as it will be expensive for me to send units back to where they come from.

Basically you take the frame, fan and PSU off yours and attach it to their upgrades... Wink

Unless the upgrade unit is a couple hundred less than the S3, this option makes little sense for the buyer. If I can clear more selling a S1 on ebay than I would save on the upgrade kit, it makes little sense to buy the upgrade kit over just selling the S1 and buying a S3.

S1 upgrade is a non-factor, IMHO. It will be either too expensive or too difficult to implement. Everybody will focus on S3 instead.
Let's see if Bitmain could provide the reasonable S2 upgrade that was promised in much more specific terms (1.8-2TH).

If not paste, why / how would swapping bays with another blade help ?

I've seen others report this xxx000 thing before.

I don't know exactly why, but it does-I had exactly the same problem and this is what fixed it.
Boards are not exactly the same size, so, I guess, they fit better in different places on the control board.
9608  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1790 per unit on: June 30, 2014, 12:43:45 AM

It has been running great for many days and now all of a sudden this!
How can it be fixed?

Thnks all

Take this board out and examine it visually. Could be an excess of grey thermal paste at the bottom-remove using Q-tip 'technology".
If not, exchange the position with another board while making sure it is pushed into the slot all the way.

The mine and sell strategy is really just 'A Greater Fool' strategy … seems common and accepted around here but its not ethical.

Not ethical? This is new. Are iphone prices ethical when they cost $10-20 to built?
I think that these are pure market forces, nothing more or less.
A person posting the sale on ebay does not really know what the market would bear (in a straight auction, at least).
A person who buys could have a dozen of reasons why they pay whatever they pay.
Some people ask for crazy prices on ebay, but these auctions end up without a sale, as they should.
I am almost certain that with $600 price on S3 you would make money in 3-4 months.

Life on earth is 3.5 billion years old, the life of the universe is 17 billion years. Before our star was even born life could have existed elsewhere for 13 billion years!!!

Think of what we have discovered about DNA and life in a mere 100 years of modern science. Now fast forward even 1 billion years from now!!!

It is more probable than not that we are simply an experiment in creation by what we either call Aliens or Gods. The religious prefer God because they have no other explanation for it. In a billion years will we have harnessed the knowledge of the suns, the galaxy, DNA, life itself? Will we not be able to travel through space at our will? Will we not be Gods to others? Of course we will. We have historical proof, Columbus was a God to the Americas.

Earth is a fish bowl, a petri dish, a scientific experiment, we are the subjects, for now.

Universe is 13.8 bil years old, not 17 bil
Life on earth is 3.8 bil years old

However, the rest of the post is pure speculation. There is no evidence for or against it.
We need more data, but the simplest analysis suggests that IF intelligent life was widespread, Earth would be colonized long time ago (probably hundreds of millions of years if not billions) just as almost every little island in the Pacific was colonized. In fact, it has been shown that it would take ONLY 4-5 mil years to completely colonize the galaxy once the spread begins.

So, delivery still delayed?

My S1 need a lil' bro with more GH/s  Grin

well my last 3 s1's will soon roi in btc .  they have done so in usd.

bought when? i calculated ~20-25% ROI in BTC on march batch, plus positive $$ on resale(~$50-70 ea) after considering cost of electricity and power supplies.
Late april S1s-almost ROI in BTC (they are still hashing)
what are ebucks?
9612  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next Bull Run (questions) on: June 29, 2014, 07:59:08 PM
I think that the next bubble will be the biggest (or equal to 2011).
It will start with Wall Street-hedge funds, home offices, then it will get a boost after ETF starts trading and finish up with retail Joe and Jane participating and silly valuations (similar to Internet bubble in 1998-2000).

I expect 10-100 fold appreciation (to 6000-60000, maybe even 100000), then a ferocious crash back to 2-3K and then a true age of bitcoin will begun with large companies, steady growth and lots and lots of utility.
9613  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 29, 2014, 03:41:07 PM
dosnīt matter,
they have mined already 330BTC with own pool.

my guess is more like 300 usd to break even.

 So   sell  at 600 usd  (not 1 btc)   = 100% profit  and they crush Am's Rk-box .

Is Any thing above  600 usd  pure greed on their part  ?  no  and why is that   ?

I agree with $600-they have to think about competition at this point. 100% profit is more than enough and if you can overwhelm the competition-even better.
I think that this is a sweet spot for pricing, which I prefer to be in $$, not BTC.

how install the sd tool
step by step details

the board had all the lights on

9615  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The last Batch of AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner, Now $1805 per unit on: June 29, 2014, 03:26:46 PM
the s2 does not start up
what i must do
i mean sd card?

1. don't try immediately after it shut down (by itself). Wait 10-20 min. Somehow, this helps.
2. If #1 does not work, try with a different PSU (EVGA1300 was better for some).
3. If shutdowns continue and the temperature in the room is below 35oC (it does shut down above 35oC), then remove one hashing board and hash with nine.
4. sd card preparation instruction is on page 86

I believe the Universe is absolutely teeming with (intelligent) life, but not all life is in the form we can see or recognize yet. However I think we will make great discoveries in this matter within the next 100 years which will turn our entire world view upside down, if we don't kill ourselves beforehand that is. I actually wouldn't be surprised if we are already being visited, studied and observed by more advanced forms of life, and that they're keeping a low profile on purpose.

This 'revelation' of being part alien came to me...

I don't know......
However, every human carries on average 2.5% neanderthal DNA with some outliers 5% or above.
I believe that Ozzie has the high percentage, which he is very proud of...

On a more serious note:
Multicellularity has evolved independently at least 46 times (on earth)
Eye (an organ of sight) has evolved independently 40-65 times
True Intelligence with sustained ability to create and manipulate environment-only ONCE in one or two primate species
If something happens just once-you don't know the probability of this event because of the observer bias. It could be 1:100000000000 chance or even lower.

If you are connecting to airport extreme by ethernet it means that you are not using wi-fi (for the purposes of setup)

Get your miner IP address using iNet (few bucks in Apple store) or some free program-it will be described as Paragon (??) in iNET.
Miner should be ON (PSU ON)

On a laptop (with wi-fi OFF), either connect ethernet cable between laptop and miner OR use the thunderbolt-to-ethernet adapter to connect ethernet cable to (on macbook air).
In system preferences, set the thunderbolt IP as "manual"
then enter the following
IP address: 192.168.1.254
mask 255.255.255.0
router 192.168.1.1
DNS 192.168.1.1

<Apply>

go to chrome window
enter 192.168.1.99 <return>
you should be in gui
passwd: root <return>

you should be in miner setup
go to Network, then WAN (do not touch LAN!!!): edit
in WAN:
enter whatever IP address you got from iNet (or any IP address NOT used by other devices on your local network; if your local network is 192.168.1.X, then use something like 192.168.1.201-(basically last number should be away from the typical range)-write down this IP address!!! (if you forget, you will not be able to reconnect and will have to reset the miner
netmask: 255.255.255.0
getaway: put in whatever IP address your Extreme/router has (you can see it in iNet or in Airport utilities)
broadcast: leave empty (remove whatever is there)
custom DNS: same as Extreme/router (yes, you will have the same IP in getaway and DNS-it is OK)
<save and apply>
you will see the "wheel" turning
wait 20-30 sec, close browser window, disconnect ethernet from laptop and reconnect to the Extreme/router (PSU is still ON), ethernet is still connected to miner.
power cycle the miner (PSU OFF, wait 10-20 sec, turn PSU back ON)
go to browser (turn laptop wi-fi back ON), input the new IP address of the miner into the browser window, hit return
in gui-go to configuration-set up your pools-<save and apply.
mining should commence
happy hashing

Got my antminer S1 running, but cannot figure out how to access it so I can attach it to my router via WiFi.

I have a DHCP provided IP.  Tried to change many things, let me ask for help before giving specifics.

I have an Apple airport router and surface pro 2 client.

I plugged the S1 into the Ethernet port. If I can access the machine I am sure I can configure.

Thanks in advance.

You can setup multiple S1 like this:

Buy Airport express (I know, there is some additional expense), expand your network (it's pretty easy on express setup)
If you have just one ant, connect it to express via Ethernet cable-and it's done
If you have more than 1 miner-connect TP-link gigabit or 10/100 ethernet hub (8 slots) to express via short (1ft) ethernet cable, then connect multiple miners to Tp-link-each by ethernet cable.
The whole setup is WiFi because express does NOT have to be in the same room as the Airport.
I had 3 S1 and one S2 connected like this and everything worked just fine

I have airport extreme and connected the S1 to the Ethernet on the airport. So how do I see the S1?  I doesn't just show up as I expected?  I think I am missing something are you saying I need an upgrade?   thanks

People always overestimate short term moves and underestimate long term.
Case in hand: look at AAPL stock chart starting in Jan 2003. It is up from ~$1 to $91 in 11 years with a lot of crashes, etc.
The major trends beat volatility, hence day trading is futile in 99% or more cases.
The wind behind BTC sail is its potential PLUS the fact that there will ever be only 21 mil BTC or 0.003BTC per each Earth inhabitant or 0.016 BTC per OECD countries citizen or 0.013 if you add Brazil and Russia to OECD.
So, if you own much more than 0.016 BTC, you will be more affluent than average in developed world in 20 years IF bitcoin succeeds
