Can someone confirm this page? I plugged all the numbers in and says the SP30 won't break even at all.

https://tradeblock.com/mining/a/1cd0d85758

Price is wrong : it's 5k$ not 12k$
Difficulty will never be 100MM in 7 months.
BTC/usd will not stay the same.

I changed it to 5,000 and was just about the same. I'll agree BTC/USD we'll never really know what it will be and well, difficulty is always on the rise. https://blockchain.info/charts/difficulty. Seriously, does it ever go down to make a difference?
Still no ROI in 12 months. If you aren't guaranteed a positive return on your investment then don't invest.

If the price of BTC goes up significantly, a SP30 will probably ROI in fiat terms. However, with the price of BTC at $633, one could simply buy ~8 BTC right now for $5000, and it's very unlikely that 6TH delivered in September will ever mine 8 BTC.

it depends on the mindset, mostly, as you know. If difficulty rises will be limited to 30%, it might. Besides, Sp-30 will have residual value, which could be as much as same $5000 if BTC rises to $1000-1500 (KnC Jupiter went for $15K at one point), so you might spend 5K now (forget about how much BTC it is), then get BTC through mining, then sell Sp-30, recouping some (if not all of $$) cost and electricity. That's the plan.
9782  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: RK-BOX,450GH/S,480W ,shipping date 25th on: June 11, 2014, 06:29:06 PM
So this is the renamed rxbox which was supose to be 600ghs?  Or is this a lesser model?

No this is in addition to the RX-BOX.  They have 3 models now:

R-Box @ 30-38 GH/s

RK-Box @ 450 GH/s

RX-Box @ 600 GH/s per module

All ugly POS! Just playing.   Cheesy

Maybe they do or don't, but it is certianly NOT at the webpage right now.
What a confusing way to introduce a new product.
Just call them baby panda, mama panda and papa panda!
9783  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2127 per Kit on: June 11, 2014, 06:18:04 PM
Does anyone have an idea what to do when the miner does not turn on again?
After setting it up it hashed a few minutes, beeped and turned off since then. I already re-plugged the cables and cards are also all seated correctly...

Sometimes i had to wait a few minutes before restarting again.
Edit: i see that you already did that successfully
Barring that, PSU is the next culprit, then make sure that SD card is properly seated, then replace microSD card (see page 86 how to make a new one), then firmware (if not 4/10/14), then email to info@bitmain....
9784  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 11, 2014, 05:23:03 PM
7KG for 450GH at 480W before PSU I'm assuming AND 65dB? My my...I'm so proud of my SP10 now!

74dB Sp-10 is about twice as loud as 65db, i never heard either, mind you.
9785  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: June 11, 2014, 05:12:21 PM
ok I burned the image to a new microsd and got the same result
then when I tried to upgrade (Reinstall) the latest firmware from their support site (I tried the tar and the .sd) - I got this error:

(initramfs.bin.SD-20140410.tar)

System Upgrade Failed

mount: mounting /dev/mmcblk0p1 on /tmp/847.boot failed: No such file or directory umount: can't umount /tmp/847.boot: Invalid argument
I have the same problemwith one S2 now.
Has this been fixed anywhere?

my understanding that you should NOT just burn the image to microSD, instead you have to make the SD bootable, which is a process that takes 20-30 min-see bottom of page 86 on the main S2 thread for EXACT instructions. I did it and bootable microSD 'worked", but you will have to replace pools and also remove known_hosts file (for ssh access) as discussed on this thread.

Update

RK-BOX specs:

Prototype is testing now, here is pics:
https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3880/14212490638_99a24494f7_z.jpg

First batch production will be done on 24th,and shipping date will be 25th,email sales@rockminer.com or PM me to get more infos.

Thanks for your support.

This is confusing, so you have three now: R-box, RX-box AND RK-Box? Web site does not show RK-Box.
Hashing and power parameters differ between RX-BOX on your web site and RK-Box shown here.
Also, what are these white cords which look like ethernet cables? Does it require multiple ethernet connections??
9787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 10, 2014, 11:04:08 PM

Very true. Time to pull out the folding chairs and sip on the mojitos while we watch the train wreck and ensuing chaos.

Don't worry, they will be saved like in a bad movie by BTC going to $1000 in the last second.
On the other hand, neptune=$3/GH (even if it is 4TH) while S1 was at $1/Gh, S2 was at $1.65/GH not so long ago and some upcoming hardware promises the return to $1.2-1.3/GH and about or less than 1w/gh.
9788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 10, 2014, 10:59:05 PM
Thanks Avenger. Interesting to revisit that poll and see that I voted "May 2014". At the time I was optimistic that they would come in a little early. Now I'm jaded and grumpy.

Aren't you happily spondooling? I missed on Sp-10 in the last sec because of a stupid gigamine (cbcm) order  Sad
9789  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 10, 2014, 10:35:13 PM
Can spondoolies-tech confirm some sort of partnership with CBCM?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647360.0

I doubt it ... such newbies would surely be announced by Sponds.

I am afraid that it is true because they directly referenced Sp-10
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647360.msg7240038#msg7240038

and immediately ALL SP-10 disappeared (on Sunday-Monday). upset...cbcm...
9790  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Open Source Block Erupter Project on: June 10, 2014, 09:49:16 PM
Very nice and exciting for the future to come! I'd love to work with a manufacturer and bring these to the US masses.

I'd love it if you'd do that ASAP..

First company to sell these for a decent price (~$1/gh) gets my money.

We have a significant number of similar products coming in by the end of the month, right around the $1/gh

rxbox?
9791  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Why is BITMAIN selling used products ? on: June 10, 2014, 06:10:47 PM
Some funny answers here guys.

Yeah i know there is no legal recourse thats why im posting it publicly.

Raise awareness on their shadiness is the only thing i can do.

nobody gives a hoot about it, all that matters is performance.
9792  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2167 per Kit on: June 10, 2014, 05:15:57 PM
Just got the S2.  Is this the symptom of a bad power supply?
If I have more than 5 boards running, the miner would start and when the screen goes to Antminer and starts hashing, it would last for only a few seconds and turn off.  If I have only 5 boards in there, it would be hashing fine, and the pool stats show that it's hashing around 500.

Get a good Gold or Platinum 1200w or greater PSU and swap out that underpowered garbage Enermax.

No problem with my Enermax, all 10 blades work very well at about 980 Gh/s on pool cex.io.

cex.io screenshot :

S2 screenshot :
http://img4.hostingpics.net/pics/650716cex2.jpg

Could you and all reasonable people please stop using cex.io/ghash.io or all your (and mine) bitcoins will turn into pumpkins-use Eligius or anything else for crying out loud
9793  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2167 per Kit on: June 09, 2014, 11:23:06 PM
can someone tell me please what a reasonable ratio of discarded shares in the miner status summary for the S2 would be. As my S1's show an accepted amount of a lot higher than the discarded number but my new S2 is showing the discarded as being vastly higher that the accepted.

Elapsed    GH/S(5s)    GH/S(avg)    FoundBlocks    Getworks    Accepted    Rejected    HW    Utility    Discarded
15m16s      882.50       1011.66          0                    44            195             3           193    12.78          21164

Stale    LocalWork    WU            DiffA         DiffR    DiffS    BestShare
0               278515    14132.68    199680    3072      0       0

and with a best share of 0 is it actually mining??

You cutoff your difficulty. Assuming that it is 1024, accepted is actually 1024X195=~200K. You have to look for longer than 15min, but your WU is OK (~14K)
Use eligius pool, don't use btcguild (at least on my S2 btcguild did not work well). best share is not being calculated on many S2, just check your pool for stats.
9794  Economy / Speculation / Re: This forum is full of future millionaires on: June 09, 2014, 10:22:38 PM
I just can't fathom the free-market allowing thousands of crypto-currency early investors the ability to become millionaires (fiat), but I hope Im wrong.

Why not, there were 29 million millionaires already in the world in 2012, probably more now. What a few thousands more?
Total wealth was 223 trillion in 2012.
9795  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Noise difference in Antminer S2 vs. Spondoolies SP10 on: June 09, 2014, 07:40:14 PM
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has both an S2 and an SP10 and can comment on the noise difference between them.  I have a Terraminer and a couple of S2's and was look at whether to get another S2 or try the SP10.  All my equipment is in my house mostly in the basement and a guest room.  Since I can close the doors the noise is muffled, but I heard the SP10 may be really loud.

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks.

SP-10-72db, and people say that it is high pitch sound that is the most noticeable (like a buzz saw). Acoustic cabinet-OK if you have $5000 lying around.
Example for noise:

9796  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 09, 2014, 06:09:01 PM
I see a potential conundrum with 4 units minimal order, which requires 2 X15a, 110v circuits in US. Besides, people like to try the product first to see if it is up to speed so to speak.

BTW, hosting quotes for Rockminer RXBOX are VERY expensive (perhaps because of non-stackable factor or circuits requirements), it would be not very practical to colocate in US, essentially.
9797  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 09, 2014, 03:16:30 PM
Spondoolies-will you have new Sp-10 soon or not? It abruptly disappeared to out of stock. It takes time to make hosting arrangement and then-poof, it's gone.
Disappointed.
9798  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: electricity rates on: June 07, 2014, 11:48:57 PM
Come get some .027 up here in Washington State Smiley   God I love hydro electric power.

If it is so great (0.027 per kwh), why no business is trying to supply this to the struggling bitcoin miners. I've seen some indications here and there, but nothing substantial so far. They are either noneexistant or have so many orders that they don't bother to reply to emails and PMs  Sad
9799  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 07, 2014, 09:33:48 PM
Rockminer, can you provide dB (for noise) estimate for one unit or four units at 1m distance?
Video is not clear on that.
9800  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: June 07, 2014, 03:37:15 AM
rockxie,
it's still a bit confusing.
Let me repeat what I understood and ask for clarification:

it's 1 btc per xrbox (minimum order 4) ?
when we receive the xrbox, we mine for ourselves, not for rockminer?
if after 60 days of mining, 1 btc is not mined back (or USD equivalent, reference $650/USD) then you will pay back the difference to bring the total to 1 btc (or USD equivalent with starting reference of $650/USD)

it's 1 btc per xrbox (minimum order 4) ?
Yes,1 RX-BOX=1BTC

when we receive the xrbox, we mine for ourselves, not for rockminer?

For R60 we have two different understanding:

To ROCKMINER: Miners help ROCKMINER to host RX-BOX for 60 days after paid the hosting deposit, after hosting 60 days, ROCKMINER will refund the hosting deposit (subtracting the theoretical income),then ownership of RX-BOX will be transfered to miners.

To miner: An insurance for the mining machine is added when he buy a RX-BOX, He will earn back his cost of miner after 60 days, no matter how difficult soar, no need to worry.

if after 60 days of mining, 1 btc is not mined back (or USD equivalent, reference $650/USD) then you will pay back the difference to bring the total to 1 btc (or USD equivalent with starting reference of $650/USD)

Yes.but this is the theoretical income.
Here is the  theoretical income of 600G in last period : http://www.rockminer.com/R60/mining_calculator.php?hash=600000&sec=1076243&diff=10455720138

I am sorry, but it is still confusing:

1. What is the minimal order? 1, 2 or 4?
2. Can 1 RX-box function on its own while connected to a router?
3. If not, what is needed in addition?
4. marketing materials need work
