With a single leader we have a centralized system. I would imagine, given BCNext's views on centralization he/she/they are slowly contributing less and less as others do more and more.

Exactly. He mentioned that at some moment in the future he would disappear completely. U'll get the secret phrase that opens the genesis account, everyone will be able to play a role of "BCNext".

I hope there are NO outgoing transactions for accounts with negative NXT!!!   Cheesy

Can you send anti-NXT from the genesis account to normal accounts?  Shocked

what would such a collision of NXT and anti-NXT produce?

Hi - been helping Olivier test his iPhone client - one of the issues is fees for forged blocks are not showing up in the balance he builds from the transactions...

You have to walk the blockchain and find the blocks generated by the account and add up fees.

Hmm we thought that might be the case - kinda hoped it wasn't...

Hi - been helping Olivier test his iPhone client - one of the issues is fees for forged blocks are not showing up in the balance he builds from the transactions...

He asked the question here

https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2137.msg21112.html#msg21112

But no one answered and he couldn't find it in the Wiki - can anyone help here and I'll tell him or post a reply to this link - ta.

Basically we get;

Balance: 60272
Effective Balance 60276

The total of the transitions is 60272 - i.e. he's not picking up my previous forged 4 NXT!!
There must be something because it shows on the block explorer.

Thanks.

I know I said it before, but let me repeat this again, now without any guilt:

If I lose your money – tough luck! Go ask Come-from-Beyond why there are no checksums in the system.

I wash my hands.

How old are you? Smiley This is not the way to operate the exchange.

It's just his OCD talking - that's why he is always so paranoid and frightened. So it gladly isn't the personality issue.

I only have a little bit of NXT but the concept of 'sender beware' because your money could disappear forever through the cryptographic equivalent of an event horizon is scary so I am very careful...

Still if you have an exchange with lots of NXT I can imagine I would get very upset if this happened and I had to deal with affected customers and or bear the costs...

Its an emotive issue that needs dealing with - both this message and the response are not helping give confidence to those of us who would like to get more NXT, have more accessible exchanges and start using it.

Anyone else had a problem with the mac-client auto-update...
I get this worrying message

"The hash of the downloaded update does not equal the one supplied by the blockchain. Aborting update."

Which implies wherever its trying to autoupdate to 0.5.3 from it thinks the source is corrupted  Shocked

Hi, download 0.20 here: http://nxtra.org/mac

The reason you got that message is because they're using another location for downloads now (hopefully the final time they change it..) - and what was compared was the hash of a HTML page returned at the old download location no longer in use instead of the zip.

Sorted tyvm...

Alpha software is such fun  Roll Eyes
please send me the acct number you sent the NXT to. Did you set a trustline big enough to handle the deposit amount?

James

Just want to say thank you to James for getting peer cover moving again - a bit late because I was offline - can confirm this seems to be nice service once working despite its Ripple overtones...

I sent 100k nxt to the peercover NXT Gateway.
How much time is needed for them to appear on my balance?

10 confirmations, so about 13 minutes

even faster, sometime less than 1 min. i have tested.

I have send 100k one hour+ ago to http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=2901300326604927904
31 confirmation and still nothing in my account

Sent 1k to test it - almost 2 hours and counting - sent them a support message - so far all I got is 'we'll get back to  you'

Would you kindly suggest how to deal with the missing 800k NXT please?

Charge fees.  But announce them ahead of time.  You can still implement a grace period for those who deposited under the old fee schedule.  Otherwise you risk ruining your reputation and losing a lot of money long-term.  You will be much worse off if you follow through with a short-sighted cash grab.

Not to mention I heard people were putting stuff back into DGEX for safe keeping due to the recent password hack.
998  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 03, 2014, 02:54:23 PM
[

DGEX is here for long term.

We promised free trading and no NXT cashout fees to encourage NXT adoption for until the end of December.

The main reason for 1.4% NXT withdrawal fee is that we have lost a total of approx. 800 000 NXT during the processing of 11000+ deposits and 7000+ payouts within the month in the unstable NXT network and experimental API, plus our own software in the quick time to market and extremely risky circumstances.

All start ups include losses - don't begrudge anyone making a profit, need to for the success of NXT, just out of interest with those fee's when is your break-even?

Expect BigVern is reading the code anyway and you are probably right now the source is released more competition will come...
999  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CaptChadd is very likely the owner of scryptasic.org scam on: January 03, 2014, 08:53:11 AM
Latest Tweet:

Scrypt Asic Int @ScryptAsic
It's sad to see him leave us but CaptChadd who hosted our website is going to concentrate on his Extremecoin. We wish him the best.

Hmmm wondering if they gave him the BTC from the share sales as a going away present?

Dude.  I respectfully ask that you remove this.  We are trying to get Thomas to open up and tell us what happened.  He has made a mistake.  He will work with us if he sees a path to redemption.  This would be a good thing.

Dude (as you say) I have not accused anyone! Im taking a poke at all the fingers poking towards Thomas. We are all very quick to blame before (if) we know all the facts.

With respect I will not remove the image.

Don't care about the image...
But I do care about the implication that he is not to blame at all - facts so far;

Trojan download came from his server for the affected accounts (see posts about browser history)
He admitted - in the previous post in putting the trojan code there.
He denies having used the data that was sent to his server or attempted to be sent in the clear over the internet to steal from the affected accounts.
If we believe the denial I think 'accomplice after the fact' is still applicable...

the other statement 'there are other modified clients out there' is an obvious one I'm sure there are but other wrongdoers do not lessen the severity of this one.
