It is chicken and egg. If we just started trading peercover NXT/BTC on ripple, there will be liquidity. We don't need to worry about any other thing trading on ripple. NXT/BTC is like a colored coin that is just using ripple for exchange.
Because NXT is introducing its own system of colored coins through Distributed Assets Exchange soon, using Ripple to trade NXT hurts value of NXTs they hold. Ripple and NXT are more competitors than Bitcoin and NXT are. So, anyone who wants NXT to succeed should not use Ripple to trade NXT. Are my assumptions wrong? If they are wrong, why? CORRECT! WE SHOULD WATCH THE COMPETITION WITH AN HAWKS EYE...ALL DECENTRALIZED EXCHANGE SETUP IS A THREAT TO THE NXT ASSET EXCHANGE.

Berlin Conference - EXHIBIT SPACE / PROMOTIONAL ITEM DISTRIBUTION (??) Guys, what do you think about paid promoting in the Bitcoin conference in Berlin? There are 2 possibilities (narknark found them): EXHIBIT SPACE (Limited) €2200 / $3,000* Includes: 2×3 metre (approx. 6×10 ft.) raw exhibit space, table and two chairs and an Exhibitor Service Manual. Includes: Listing as an exhibitor on the website and in other promotional materials as available Two free full-conference passes for staff members 20% off conference passes for additional staff members. PROMOTIONAL ITEM DISTRIBUTION (Limited) €1,000 / $1,500* Distribute your company’s advertising material, flyer, or ad-specialty item directly into the hands of every conference attendee. You’ll gain exposure at the event and your message will travel home with each conference attendee. Please note: The sponsoring company is responsible for creating, producing, and delivering the promotional item by an established deadline. Rising Media must approve item. Items not allowed: pens, notebooks/notepads, or lanyards. Right now we have lots of graphic designers and also some writers who could write the concepts... But would it be worth it? And are we able to pay for it? There will probably be: mcjavar, salsacz, narknak and Lurning (from Berlin). It means that at least one member should really come ( ) and someone (Lurning) could bring there printed materials before the conference starts. Any suggestions? Nextcoin topic about the Conference: https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,1518.msg21724.html#msg21724

Its already running close to one hour now and ist still on block 1. I have 19 connected peers....do you think adding peers manually would help? If so, do you by any chance have a link to a peer list and how to add them? Thanks
Use http://nxtra.org/nodes/ to get peers. Switch "communicationLoggingMask" to "3" and send me log after 5 mins of working. OK, did as you sad...but I think I will be unable to send you a log file as strangly there are none (I am looking in the "logs" folder, is this correct? )... Also I am now running fo a couple of minuts and its the same story as before, though this time I only have 3 conected peers....but more should drop in as time passes. Run "java -jar start.jar > log.txt" and send me log.txt file. [2014-01-03 18:26:54.320] Nxt 0.4.9e started. DGEX is a business and they can charge whatever they want. BUT accepting deposits under the pretense of a 0% withdrawal fee and then changing that to a 1.2% withdrawal fee after the deposits have been received and with no notice is just WRONG.
Agree...this is fundamental.

Fees are ok :/, but what a solid business move imo would've been to inform the public 2-3 days in advance of the fee increases so if they weren't happy with them, they could've withdrawn ahead of the time. But of course, I forget... money $$$ oh yeah

It reminds me of ScarFace, when he was just getting into the business and a drug deal went bad with a close friend getting killed. He could've kept half the dough but instead gave back the full amount as a gesture for expectation of better business in the future. Business 101

P.S. this whole thing could be an orchestrated attempt to hurt NXT. Does this not bother anybody else?
Not really, short term speculation doesn't provide any value, so it's only short term price decrease. As long as there is a network and more functions added to NXT, it'll be fine. Post of the day....next to Jean Luc Picard's of course

dgex problems again...
DGEX is a disaster. They never sent me my approx 1,200 NXT, i emailed them 2+ weeks ago, they replied 1 week later to the effect of "we trust your issue has been resolved". I emailed them back and said it has not, and no reply. Just stole my BTC. I agree they also cancelled possibility to withdraw NXT for free - I ask why 1,4% its worse than banking fees!!! even Bank America has lower fees. And especially from somebody who apparently came in into NXT from the beginning who don't have to solve financial problems for the rest of his life well OK, its his offer we don't have to visit Dgex, but don't you think that 1,4% withdrawal fee is very high?? It is. Nxt withdrawal should be free! Graviton!DGEX Fees starting from 2013-11-28 applicable for now NXT BUY and SELL: 0% NXT deposits: 0% BTC deposits: 0% NXT cashouts: 1.4% BTC cashouts: 1.4% to 3.2% (instant) min. 0.0005 BTC have you ever seen it? 3.2% fee for BTC Is it a joke? besides all this now the Dgex is down.... THIS my friends THIS is a scandal! I will never put one NXT or BTC to that exchange no matter what happen! I checked it again and we are back at 1.4% for withdrawals (after this afternoon's experiment with 0.25 and later 0.17% trading fee and "only" 1.2% withdrawal fee) and if you hurry, lets pay 3.2% on BTC fast withdrawal - how about lower it a bit? http://dgex.com/fees.htm

So there'll be: — nexern's client; — closed source Windows client.
Is NRS 0.5.0 planning?
What about wrong recipient? Exactly that way 800k NXT was lost be DGex (and some 10-100s k NXT by others summary)? Bug found and described? Client-sided for sure, exist only for NRS?

I sent 100k nxt to the peercover NXT Gateway. How much time is needed for them to appear on my balance?
10 confirmations, so about 13 minutes even faster, sometime less than 1 min. i have tested. I have send 100k one hour+ ago to http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=3000&acc=2901300326604927904 31 confirmation and still nothing in my account Sent 1k to test it - almost 2 hours and counting - sent them a support message - so far all I got is 'we'll get back to you' Alpha software is such fun

CfB + jean-luc + nexern,
There are millions of darkNXT and more being created all the time. darkNXT is NXT sent to an address that doesn't belong to anybody. I am assuming this is something we don't want the end user to be able to do easily. Anyone with direct API access could do whatever they wanted, but end users should NOT be allowed to create darkNXT, especially when all it takes is a typo or memory corruption.
The solution to this is so simple I am at a loss as to why it has not been implemented. NXT sent to an acct without key will create darkNXT, there is a call to detect if an acct has a key. Why has this simple guard not been implemented?
This is a very serious flaw and even ripple has a solution to this by not allowing money to an unfunded acct. We can't let horrible flawed useless ripple be better than NXT in this area can we?
James
P.S. For those not in the real world, EVERYTIME and end user creates darkNXT, it will create at least a support incident at worst lawsuits against a vendor supporting NXT. Need I remind people that we need widespread NXT adoption.

yeah, NXT need a warning when you try to send fund to an unfunded account. Of course you can still accept. And it need some sort of checksum to avoid the address to be modified by momery corruption
RELIABILITY is the most important thing ! (with security )
