as a bit of news ASICMINER may put out an s-1 killer in the x-box   a 400gh 450watt 400usd unit.

well, they just coming soon...no posted prices as far as I can see. Bitmain strength is in fast distribution and high reliability and that takes time to establish, but I am totally open to try- make use of my power supplies.

here is a link

we are  still short info but at 400 usd 400 gh and 400 watts  that would be the end of the s-1.    best case

I am thinking it may be 500usd   350gh and 450 watts  my guess

here is you tube

thanks, i've seen the video, but $500 for 350 gh will not "kill" anything.

Perhaps someone can help.  I ordered a S2 and it just arrived today, I am in the U.S., but the power plug that came with the unit seems to be different than a standard U.S. plug.  It has 3 prongs, but they are all flat, has anyone else encountered this and can I just go and buy a proper cord from a store to replace it?

I want to answer this question but I just can't. Roll Eyes

sure, grab one at a Microcenter store if you have one around-it's in the build your own PC dept. You have to make sure that the other side is C13 "female" plug.
I also got that HK cord, LOL

Anyone else having trouble with recent S1 units? I have 1 out of 3 units giving me problems and bitmaintech is making me go through hoops to get anything resolved!!!

Your first pool is dead. To get rid of X-try to reboot by going into system and reboot without shutting the power off. it helps on mine.
Your hashing speed is ~ correct with 5/64 asics not functioning (you are ~7% off in speed as expected). 7% off is still better than to send the miner back.
Good luck.

I agree that if I have to pay to ship it back and be down for a week with no rig it doesn't make sense but you pay for 180 ghs they should give you 180ghs. If they need to send a replacement board thats on them not my problem.

No harm trying, but I doubt that they will replace it. BTW, I never had exactly 180, it was either ~178gh on 350mhz or ~191-192 on 375mhz

Lets assume the Neptune can come in Jul 1, and mine 5 BTC in its life time and the FREE Neptune Sept 1 which would mine 1.5 BTC lifetime.

Id take the refund money and buy some TH riight now is better, even 5 SP10.

5 SP10 right now going to a datacenter for 6 mo are ~20K with equipment 13.5K (who wants to have 5 of these in the house? not me).
After 6mo you will make $21.3K or 1.5K profit by Nov 1 if bitcoin stays the same ($668).

KnC: 4.5 TH on July 1 will give you ~11.66 BTC by Nov 1
extra 4.5 TH on Aug 1 will give you ~7 BTC by Nov 1
Total ~18.66 BTC, but with ~$1089 cost of electricity (if 0.12kwh)=$12485-1089=11396, so you still have profit of $1396 if you bought for 10k, not 13.5K.
So, conclusion: if KnC machine is 4.5TH by July and a second equal machine is given free on Aug 1, then you have a small profit in both cases and SAME BTC price.

Small edge to Spond because you don't need to do almost any work as they go to a datacenter, but 4.5TH KnC machines will probably have better resell value (if they are similar to Jupiters in average quality).

I call it a tie or very close.

9828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The unit poll on: June 03, 2014, 08:22:30 PM
Interesting.  As of the current vote,

There are only 18 votes for using the name "Bit" for 0.000001 BTC
There are 33 votes for any option other than "Bits" (such as Microbitcoin, Microbit, Mike, or Micro).

And yet people for some reason claim that there is a consensus for the word "Bit" to describe 0.000001 BTC, or that the matter is settled.

Because there's a handful of people that formed a cult around bits much like dogecoin. It has become a meme almost. They even have fancy drawings now....

That shit really has to stop

they infested the reddit and changetip each other-LOL
To those proponents: Nobody gives a hoot about bit(s)-understand it and go away with this nonsense, pretty please
9829  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And now a bank realizes bitcoin's potential finally!(citibank) on: June 03, 2014, 08:18:10 PM
I think most banks realise its potential but wouldnt want to admit it publically.

My thought exactly. In the dark they are trying to figure out how they can profit from it, and they will in the end.

Did Blockbuster profited from the Internet?

I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to sell out my Ants. I think they are starting to become too low hashrate machines.

Maybe in 2-4 weeks if BTC is at 660-670, longer if higher. I am hoping that bitmain will EOL S1, as this should increase the resale value.

Asic equipment cannot rise in value faster than the difficulty jumps.  In 2-4 weeks will be 14-16 Billion difficulty.

More like, when Bitmain stops dropping the price weekly, it becomes more market driven instead of the usual

"you want how much?!?!? I can buy them direct for bla bla bla less then your selling!!!!"

you said it... Grin

or "I bought some a couple of weeks ago for less than $200"

My miners are already profitable in BTC, now i just need to maximize the resell value in $$ to subtract electricity expenses and have profit in both $$ and BTC.

Now is a good time to sell btc priced equipment or the btc itself, as the price will probably come back down to around $520-530 usd for BTC later.
or hyperextend to $2500, I have no insight into the future.
9832  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit Sales Open, official sales price $2260 per Kit on: June 03, 2014, 05:58:29 PM
I just bought one of S2
Price with coupon 2.92BTC

interesting...right now buying or "holding" btc seems to be the best tactic. Plugging today's price into a calculator gives breakeven in december with a lot of work and care and "only" 14.4% average difficulty rise per cycle. Buying was best at the group buy price. selling miner will be best at around the next BTC peak (could be July). Buying now and enduring ASIC miner 30PH/mo deployment for 3 mo plus KnC unleashing another 10-20 PH-a tough call. We could be back to the 20% difficulty rise each cycle for a couple of months at least, maybe even 3 months.

Recieved another group of S1's.  Out of the five, one will not mine worth a crap.  This miner will start out at around 140GH/s and drop down from there until it goes on the way to no hashing and then it will restart and try again.

So what do I do now with this S1 that does not work?

I had one like this, it was starting, going to ~150, then dropping to nothing, flashing bright green, then restarting.
On this particular miner on the top board (above the sink) one large black chip had a red mark on it (I checked all others-they had either nothing or green or black mark). I assume that it is somewhat defective. That large black chip was severely overheating (results I got with temperature sensor). I was able to fix this miner to a reasonable hashing at ~180gh at standard 350 mhz, but it absolutely requires an additional fan airflow toward the top of the miner and this miner cannot overclock at all. Perhaps, your situation is different, but give it a shot with an extra fan outside. Check if that chip is marked.
I am posting two photos-top is of somewhat defective miner (see mark on a chip), bottom-normal miner (see small mark in green/black)
(images removed for quote)
Yep. It has a red line on it.  I will have to go check the other to see about them.

Must be a QA/QC screw-up.  They mark it as bad and then go ahead and use it any ways.

try the trick with the fan-I used Vornado or any spare fan would do. This miner is hashing for more than a month OK now with no restarts and a little higher HW errors.

Right now you can get 6 THps worth of SP10's or S2's in-stock for the same price as a neptune preorder that will likely not be delivered for at least a month judging from the recent update. So why are there still people who have not requested a refund?

too late probably for requesting a refund, it is probably deemed "in production" now.
Someone probably hoping for the increase to 4.5th and, in fact, some profitability calculators already assume this rise.
In this case, it would work out for $10K (first batch) orders (they will get 4.5 in July and another 4.5 in aug), but would cause a great animosity toward knc from the frankenjup crowd. I did not get Sp10 because of the noise, otherwise it is a great miner.
9838  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 02, 2014, 10:59:19 PM
Considering that I got refunded 22BTC per Neptune, how many TH/s would be needed on 1st July to mine the same amount of coins.
My prediction is 6TH/s in July (16-17BTC) and 6TH/s more from the last free batch (4-5BTC)

I am very curious at what KNC would do to make the Neptune delivery worth for the people that are still waiting (why are you still waiting?)

It will probably be the most efficient miner on the market...for a month or less, then it will be approximately a tie with spond with the slight edge to knc.
If you were smart and used cash refund to buy coins and/or kept the BTC refund, you'll will come out ahead, and even if not, it was too much to bear twiddling the thumbs for six months. I've got S1 and S2 hashing, which gave me mining experience, so I am totally content NOT to have kept my preorders (each of the would have been $15K if you count miner plus 6 mo electricity cost). However, if at some point they will ship mini at a decent price FROM THE STOCK-then, why not?
I have no hard feelings toward KNC.
9839  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: June 02, 2014, 09:45:20 PM
Hi all..

Thank you rpietila for tha high quality TA.. very appreciated.

Im very bullish but not as bullish as 300k/btc..

When does rpietila think it will hit $300K?

Last year, ha ha.  He predicted it by the end of 2013.  I think he was a little bit overexcited then.

Interesting...prof Bitcorn-$10, Risto P. (during superexponential stage)-$300000.
If you take log10 of these numbers, then it is 1 and 5.447 and average of these two outliers on a log scale is 3.23856, which comes up to $1732 if you revert back from the log scale.
so, my prediction for year end=$1732.
9840  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: XBTec Announce. New ASIC manufacturer on: June 02, 2014, 09:24:54 PM
You state, you DO NOT ACCEPT PRE-ORDERS, right?

How come, that on your Russian webpage, you are offering pre-orders for ASICMINER Gen3 (2 Thash/second), with option to deliver on/before July 20 for $2800 and on/before June 30 for $3400?

Forgot to mention, you have already sold-out a pre-order for 150 pcs, June 17 delivery.

http://www.xbtec.ru/goods-view/asicminer-gen3-2-thash-second

Russian market is Russian. We have good relations with Russian-speaking community.
Moreover we have few anchor investors, who has invested our team, therefore 150psc has been sold out.
So, for now we do not take pre-orders.
Approximately Friday we have to say final price. We are forecasting to give price for July batch about 2800$, but for now it is just estimate value.

Please, have a read carefully the first post of this topic and wait for a Friday.

Sincerely, XBTec Team

XBTec, are you going to use the instant promotion on orders to US-this would give you a lot of the market if your machine is reliable at 2th/s at 1700W.
Do you have operational record graphs?
Also, i got it about June 17 batch, but why not sell June 30 batch to US and EU customers.
What's the warranty? Where are you shipping from-Shenzen or Moscow?

Edit: do you have a PR guy or what? Not answering questions on your own board is a bit rude, you better learn from Spondoolies
