yes, these were my predictions from January this year. and KfC advised you would have your rig by end Q1/Q2

But, well done to you for trawling back through the thread. You must have a lot of time on your hands - which is good becasue it helps to be patient if you have an order for a neptune  Grin

I didn't trawl back, I remembered because I disputed the statements at the time.

Way back when there were what I call the 'Home On The Range' folks.
(It is an American folk song)
"Where never is heard a discouraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day"

When the diff kept going up they changed their tune.
Some bailed on the thread (Orama) some switched teams (Ewik)

Conversly there are the absolute pessimist folks.

The error is in the 'absolute' portion of the position.
IMneverHO

My reality is somewhere inbetween.
Both camps provide good data if you know to read between the lines.

YMMV
Smiley

EDIT: the volume of each camp has some relation to the current price of BTC when statements are made.

EDIT #2 I misquoted the song, It is actually
"Where seldom is heard a discouraging word"
I used an absolute (never)
Obviously I am not exempt from incorrectly using absolutes.

At least we don't have to hear "20nm isn't possible until next year" anymore.
...and I don't see packaging taking 2 weeks more than 28nm; as that part of the process hasn't changed much, and isn't really susceptible to the meddling of Swedish Chefs', but I wouldn't be surprised if  PCB or controller issues popped up.
I'd like to think though that most "bugs" on that have been worked out on 28nm already, but who knows.

Wow, turns out knc had a subliminal message in their case design teaser directed towards their competition (i.e. their customers). Can you spot it?

At least we don't have to hear "20nm isn't possible until next year" anymore.

I think a lot of people who claimed that just assumed that since company x and y isn't already on 20nm it isn't ready yet and wouldn't happen, 20nm just wasn't worth it for most of the industry when 16nm is just around the corner and the cost of 20nm vs potential benefits over 28nm just made no sense.

2-3 weeks was the time thrown around for most 28nm chips.

I assume the "general tweaking" is the bringup process and everything else? Because those are just trivial things that don't take any time Roll Eyes

KNC are such bullshitters, always pretending things are just around the corner.

Remember this gem from their newsletter in February?
"As we are getting closer to the launch date of Neptune"

Four months later and nothing.

Isn't this newsletter strange, as KNC don't normally announce diddly-squat?

They wait until the day they promised to start Plan B and then claim they have wafers?

Considering that I got refunded 22BTC per Neptune, how many TH/s would be needed on 1st July to mine the same amount of coins.
My prediction is 6TH/s in July (16-17BTC) and 6TH/s more from the last free batch (4-5BTC)

I am very curious at what KNC would do to make the Neptune delivery worth for the people that are still waiting (why are you still waiting?)

It will probably be the most efficient miner on the market...for a month or less, then it will be approximately a tie with spond with the slight edge to knc.
If you were smart and used cash refund to buy coins and/or kept the BTC refund, you'll will come out ahead, and even if not, it was too much to bear twiddling the thumbs for six months. I've got S1 and S2 hashing, which gave me mining experience, so I am totally content NOT to have kept my preorders (each of the would have been $15K if you count miner plus 6 mo electricity cost). However, if at some point they will ship mini at a decent price FROM THE STOCK-then, why not?
I have no hard feelings toward KNC.

Right now you can get 6 THps worth of SP10's or S2's in-stock for the same price as a neptune preorder that will likely not be delivered for at least a month judging from the recent update. So why are there still people who have not requested a refund?

too late probably for requesting a refund, it is probably deemed "in production" now.
Someone probably hoping for the increase to 4.5th and, in fact, some profitability calculators already assume this rise.
In this case, it would work out for $10K (first batch) orders (they will get 4.5 in July and another 4.5 in aug), but would cause a great animosity toward knc from the frankenjup crowd. I did not get Sp10 because of the noise, otherwise it is a great miner.

Graphics for our Neptune housing is being finalized as well, and we've included a sneak preview from our Art Director Robert, at the top of this post.

wht the fuck is that?

Pretty case so that customers forget about the other stuff related to the miner.

They'll just shrinkwrap a cardboard box and put that sticker on it. Then for added protection they'll tie down the heatsinks with twist ties and include wooden sticks with marshmallows just because they're a customer first company.

How many days or month
Want from waffer to have the complete nepture miner does anyone know??

Took CT about a month from wafer to completed chip. After that they will need to be tested and tweaked. Mid July maybe?

the same reason some people dress up in girls clothes or noncey fedoras (or S.M. fans)

some people enjoy having their balls in a clamp and getting kicked in the same squashed balls.

we try and avoid them cos theyre filthy perverts but theyre everywhere.

waiting for the day they can infect us with their victim mentality that they 'pretend' to love.

Help me troubleshoot:

Had a power outage and my miner is now blowing cold air and not mining.  I've checked the DHCP table on my router and am not seeing it listed any longer.  I've verified that the ethernet switch is operational and I have link lights/activity lights on the Jupiter.

Is there a reset procedure?
