XEM/JPY pairing on Japan-based coincheck is doing a couple of million in daily trade volume & bitFlyer should be coming out of test phase with its US facing exchange any time now, https://bitflyer.com/en-us? , perhaps we can hit them up again to add XEM trade pairs when it opens to public. I am happy to see the price of NEM bumped up just a bit at the same time that Bitcoin is experiencing another major run up. It says a lot about the solidity and stability of the coin that it's held a fairly stable 20 to 21 cent price tag in the past few weeks. We all are looking forward to that stable price tag being over a Dollar, but at least it has a stable price now. I have to agree. I´m quite happy to see the price beeing so stable at arount 20 cents. good startpoints to higher steps yup ..... next run up will be very noticable  |

Did NEM start with a pure POS when it launched? If so, how did it achieve fair distribution?
Its was free for the first 20 pages or so for people who posted "I am interested" in the Announce thread. After that there was a small fee, which increased every 20 pages. So in the end after sockpuppets were removed they got around 3000 stakeholders who each received a Nem stake (2250000 Nem). It wasn't POS and all was released on the genesis block Wow, so it was basically all given away when the genesis block was created. That is very interesting model compared to the usual POW launch. Was there any issues regarding getting on exchanges by using this distribution model? Not interesting at all, it happens all the time and there's alway coin giveaways. It just happens that NEM turned into a real project, one of the few. And why would there be issues listing it on exchanges? That doesn't make sense at all, there was issues with duplicate accounts and sock puppets but NEM foundation was very proficient at getting rid of most spammers/sock puppets. I qualified for the free stake at the beginning but I ended up donating the NXT for the NEM to the foundation since I saw it as only acting in a fair way in accordance to the spirit of crypto space. My "interesting" comment wasn't a criticism. I was just curious on the details of how NEM was launched and how POS coins can be launched fairly. I didn't think you criticized NEM, I was just pointing out that the initial distribution wasn't all that interesting. Even NEM didn't have a fair launch, UtopianFuture unfairly created and still controls many of the sockpuppets accounts he made to enrich himself/ his team. It was a sort of "premine" with the disguise of actual users which turned out to be sockpuppets from him. Ironically he was the one heading the sockpuppet removal from the NEM distribution. He supposedly retired but everyone that was involved from day one knows that he just stopped logging into his UtopianFuture account, made some announcement to pacify the community and is still around involved with NEM. We don't know who he might be, the only people that might know are the team involved in the creation of NEM and even then only 1 or 2 people might know who he is. In the end, it doesn't matter because NEM is turning out to be something bigger than UtopianFuture anticipated. It was thanks to the efforts of other devs and community members stepping in and not letting the project die. Otherwise it would have been another coin that got pumped and dumped/died into obscurity. you are assuming a lot.....every one of the initial holders were gone through with a fine tooth comb including Utopian Future, in fact especially Utopian Future. So there is no truth to the fact that he has a stash...or ever had a stash. He works on other projects now. I have checked almost every comment ever on on NEM on Telegram and here and absolutely nothing regarding any involvement by him. The devs went to all sorts of lengths to ensure complete fairness over months and months. |

Just to be clear...... Crypto Apex is in the process of winding down.
We are obviously dissapointed we didnt meet our aims and especially dissapointed that we didn`t deliver for the community.
Im not going to go into all the reasons why we were not successful but with all these new projects , some will succeed and some will not.
The fair thing to do is to return all the Xem to the community fund. I think it's better if the community fund turns into a interest-free loan. If you complete the project you get to keep the payments otherwise you'll return it.  So that people get discouraged to apply if they can't calculate in their chances of success. Personally I invested 8 million XEM into Crypto Apex. I see above I was accused of being a hoarder...not a very good hoarder. Imagine if I had just not bothered and been a hoarder...... |

I would rather vote for NEM funds to be spent on new internal researches then looking for dev teams around the world to apply and develop new NEM technologies. Similar to what ETC is doing now. Any external requests for funds is a red red red flag!
Consider all the failing insecure Ethereum dapps that just sucked money from crowd funding. NEM dev funds should never get trapped in any sort of crowd funding for projects or Dapps that operates on NEM unless the project/research is a core NEM piece that initially been developed internally by the NEM dev team. Only then we can vote.
A third party request for funds should not even open the door for any sort of voting! I would rather vote and debate such principal first.
Everytime something like this comes up, I have not seen one developer in the thread asking for a vote or setting up a system for the initial investors to vote on. We can discuss this all day long, but if we can't actually physically vote then all these are just words and we will be ignored. Can anyone point me to where the voting is happening? Because I have yet to see it all these years. what are you talking about ? I oversaw the first voting with CryptoApex and also Apostille...... a lot of the community voted on both occasions and it was completely fair.The voting figures were published on both occasions. We don't have the time and patience to read through lots of reading material. Just give us a good summary of how it will benefit us. The voting system is bullshit anyway. 100 people could vote no and a whale or a dev could vote yes and yes would win due to the whales importance
having a higher importance means you have earned more of a say...... its up to everyone in the community to vote to get a good idea of what the community want. Theres not so many whales in this project compared to others and who knows which way each of them would vote anyway? One so called whale could cancel out another one......... `If a quorum of at least 3% of the importance of the NEM blockchain is met and the vote passes with a 65% majority, then the vote is considered accepted by the community. Otherwise it fails.` Voting will take place in 4 days now. There will be a YES account to approve the proposal and a NO account to not approve it. A small message to one of them by each Nember will record their importance. These accounts will be found on the Atraura Proposal thread on the Forum. |
