Please correct me if am wrong: It seems to me that the proposed NEM authenticator project will mainly require a one full time experienced developer. He can fully develop it within 6 months + 3 to 6 months more for testing. In addition the project will require good security tests. Overall there is no way that $3,000,000 is needed for such project. I would evaluate it in the range of minimum $200k to maximum $600k. I am all ears if anyone would like to prove me wrong on that.

that's why i proposed decomposition budget for each milestone for clear understanding

The voting system is bullshit anyway. 100 people could vote no and a whale or a dev could vote yes and yes would win due to the whales importance

Do you guys understand that probably people who are in charge of the project are not reading this forum?

If you have something meaningful to say, you should say it in forum.nem.io

Then that's very irresponsible of them because this is the forum where it all started.

With all respect to Albert and Atraura Organization, I am totally and completely against funding any third party organization using NEM funds. NEM funds should only get spent to expand the NEM dev team internally "NOT EXTERNALLY". Any third party organization can create their own crowd funding away from NEM dev funds.
Totally agree with this! Only internal use!

That's ridiculous. There aren't very many of them and they're busy people and not exactly the most reactive or accessible bunch. There's a mountain of money waiting to be used to improve NEM. If an outsider can do it then it should be allocated. Ideas come from everywhere.

I have no clue or opinion about this project, but for instance the upcoming Trezor integration comes from an outside programmer. He did a deal and is being paid by developer funds as far as I know. It's a vast benefit to everyone that wouldn't otherwise have happened.

And this project isn't asking for all the funds upfront anyway.

I would argue that this is a critical time in the history of NEM. Many cryptos are racing to become the chosen Blockchain/coin, innovation at this juncture will help drive adoption. If no one adopts NEM it doesn't matter if we have 1 trillion in the DEV fund if no one is using it. I say go for it.

There were few good points ...

Basically, I would not reject new devs, because they are coming "outside" of NEM.
But the another issues are
a) the possible benefits to NEM
b) the costs

To evaluate the possible benefits, there are needed good examples of the use cases, etc. 5 days is quite short time to study and understand them well enough.

To evaluate the costs there are 2 ways:
how much coding work (men months) the project requires  or/and
how much NEM community values the possible benefits.

Correct!

would like to add/extend it:

2nd point - Need to clear understand why they need 13m xem, but not 16m or 20m.
Propose:
 - I'd suggest to divide budget to each Milestone for clear vision and undesrtanding
 - Send payment once  Milestone is reached (!!!)

1st point - Explain simple users what benefits nem could get. for example, it could increase time of development in 2-3 times and so on.

Best regards,

John Galt

- Send payment once  Milestone is reached (!!!)

I heard that before, somewhere . . . Thanks, I only trust NEM devs. What they say to this ?
Hallo NEM-Team ? I know you´re busy, but let us not make a mistake here !

1. We have to pay for done job if we don't have real contract!
2. This is a good approach from managment side then team has good motivation to finish Milestone
3. Team should also understand that we got info about the team only TODAY!

The community Fund was specifically set aside for projects such as these.  You can read about the process here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v12DKjHLShbacq4nGyQBm183ADoVgSEQNqbwUYWQBTM/edit

And here is the account:
http://explorer.ournem.com/#/s_account?account=NAFUNDDWQUHMIKPV2JUH2VNCYEAQX3O7QKHECZUV

To be fair, it seems the project is for a whole NEM framework and not just the NEM Authenticator.
(Community feedback needs to happen on the thread below)
https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-framework-community-proposal/5174

Apostille successfully used the community fund back in the day to fund its development for 5 million XEM, but this was when XEM was ~300-400 and BTC was much lower in value.  This has definitely added value to the NEM platform and gives Factom a run for its money...
https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-apostille-a-nem-notary-system-community-fund-proposal/2001

15 million XEM ($3+ million dollars) is a lot of money and seems extremely high.  I'm not a developer so it's hard to put a value on this 'NEM Framework' without knowing the scope of the work involved.  Some of the dev team and other competent devs should be able to evaluate this proposal more fairly ...

That being said, I appreciate the work Albert and his team they have already done with Landstead & current work they are doing.

This type of development work is needed for NEM to grow ...

I still have memories of CryptoApex, something that was promised but never delivered.

Why are there so many "newbies" on here trying to convince us to fund this project with 15 Million Xem?

Long time lurker. Finally, something that is actually asking for community input, thought I would give some.

Just as I thought...

There are around 10 times more original NEM stakeholders then active users in this forum.
Any noob here can actually be a milonare.

Yes! And that's why Trump would never win an election like this Cheesy
Because 100 people who don't know what's going on will be out-voted by 1 whale/developer who actually knows what is going on.

That's actually how Trump won, the popular vote said no but a few people in the electoral college said yes.

I'd rather see Nem in mainstream media and in shops around my corner than super techy projects over and over again where I don't see and benefit in it for the general public.

Does Nem Foundation get a share of the company? If so, even if Nem price goes up we'd still be okay and if they are profitable there would be constant inflow of funds for the dev team.

I would rather vote for NEM funds to be spent on new internal researches then looking for dev teams around the world to apply and develop new NEM technologies. Similar to what ETC is doing now. Any external requests for funds is a red red red flag!

Consider all the failing insecure Ethereum dapps that just sucked money from crowd funding. NEM dev funds should never get trapped in any sort of crowd funding for projects or Dapps that operates on NEM unless the project/research is a core NEM piece that initially been developed internally by the NEM dev team. Only then we can vote.

A third party request for funds should not even open the door for any sort of voting! I would rather vote and debate such principal first.

Everytime something like this comes up, I have not seen one developer in the thread asking for a vote or setting up a system for the initial investors to vote on.

We can discuss this all day long, but if we can't actually physically vote then all these are just words and we will be ignored.

Can anyone point me to where the voting is happening? Because I have yet to see it all these years.

what are you talking about ? I oversaw the first voting with CryptoApex and also Apostille...... a lot of the community voted on both occasions and it was completely fair. The voting figures were published on both occasions. Of course you will be able to physically vote. You will have 5 days to physically vote on the Atraura Proposal thread.

So discussion is actually 10 days if you wish to vote on the last day available......more than enough time to get to know more about the Atraura Organisation.

The Community Fund was specifically set up to help third party projects expand the NEM project......  please read all about Atraura and the proposal process before commiting yourselves

having a higher importance means you have earned more of a say...... its up to everyone in the community to vote to get a good idea of what the community want. Theres not so many whales in this project compared to others and who knows which way each of them would vote anyway? One so called whale could cancel out another one.........

`If a quorum of at least 3% of the importance of the NEM blockchain is met and the vote passes with a 65% majority, then the vote is considered accepted by the community. Otherwise it fails.`

Voting will take place in 4 days now. There will be a YES account to approve the proposal and a NO account to not approve it. A small message to one of them by each Nember will record their importance. These accounts will be found on the Atraura Proposal thread on the Forum.

Having studied the information about the NEM Framework. I decided to vote for the allocation of money. If this is implemented quickly. Then it's worth it.
After the renovation of the catapult and the implementation of these projects, the capitalization will be very high.
