Why should anyone leave his money on a pool , ppl still don't understand cryptos , never trust third party ,if they don't run with your money someone will hack them and run with it , so it's a matter of time to be stolen , control your private keys control your own money....no banks in crypto
Payouts are scheduled in this case, at least to my knowledge. A lot of Crypto mining is about trust and contributing to the network and pools, i guess. No trust is needed in crypto , if ppl used it the rigth way , we would't see MT gox or nicehash or any other basterds stealing ppl hard earned money , just use it the right way. That leaves out a lot of traders and users of bitcoins that need to exchange bitcoins for fiat at a regular basis (or vice versa). I'm not saying you're wrong - I'm saying a different solution needs to be found. This is why I am long on DEX alts. (All of them). |

Interesting note: Even with an average winrate of >50% on decisions for short term trading - a 30% drawdown is still going to occur if your average bet size is two percent of your trading capital.

So after Nicehash went down earlier this morning - I configured one of my L3+ rigs to a failover pool. However on the other one I was unable to get to the configuration panel - the only pool in place was nicehash. I rebooted the miner, logged in to the configuration panel - then the miner rebooted and listed "destination unreachable" on my network. Any ideas? NOTE: I could reach the panel - but it rebooted faster than I was able to do anything.

You should try using a different meter, either same brand or different brand - also depending on the energy meter used - you could be using a meter that has different line voltage expected from your house and is measuring current. IE: If the meter expects a 240v circuit and reads 10 amps that would be close to that number.

However, all those projects need money, hence the route for an ICO in Q1 2018 Not to mention that as in the case of most ICO's it gives the scammers investors who already sunk millions into the company a way to cash out at the expense of new Investards. Oh man this is spot on. I wouldn't be surprised if every mining ICO turns out to be a "steal the money and run" scam. |

ATX power supplies are not rated for sustained 24/7 at full load. There is a reason servers use much higher quality PSUs and not some ATX crap you would put in a home computer.
Think vehicle tires.
You need a 10 ply all terrain tire and you have been running off of a donut spare this whole time. Does it work? Yes. Will it end badly if you use it for too long? Yes.
Go get a real server grade PSU!
The EVGA Gold and Platinum rated have performed fine in all sorts of "interesting" applications. I would be surprised overloading it is the problem here. I use one in everything I build from gpu rigs to gaming machines. I would be *surprised* if the PSU was the problem as long as it wasn't overloaded. (1400w on a 1600w psu seems like too much , but I would think the psu itself would fail first.). |

So I have a warehouse that I'm hosting some antminer S9 in, as well as a business partner's GPU rigs, a few of my own GPU rigs, etc. Diverse mix of equipment. What is the best way to allow for remote management of various equipment, without letting users play with each other's gear. My first thought was setting up a jump-box or using vpns. But there are problems with both (need physical equipment to set up a vpn router for each group of equipment, then a vpn subscription for cloud vpn, etc) - was wondering if anyone with experience had some thoughts?

How to buy chips or boards from GMO?
Does anyone have contacts with the company that produces the chips within the GMO consortium?
God forbid you actually read the threads about 7nm chips and this pie-in-the-sky project.... 7nm thread Or for that matter, perhaps read the 1 page of posts in this one  NO ONE - not even Intel or IBM - can produce 7nm chips at this time and most projections from them put it in late 2018 AT BEST. I believe in their pie in the sky project - but I think they're being overly optimistic about delivery dates. They are definitely big enough / have enough capital to complete the project. |

Also don't forget to factor in that a lot of government entities directly subsidize solar power installations or other renewable sourced energy. (It doesn't make sense to me mathematically, but I am not a government).
So on a 12kW system that I just got installed, I receive 30% back as a government tax credit. I also receive a specific subsidy based on the number of kWh my solar power produces - regardless of whether or not I consume the kWh. Versus normal electric even with just the net metering I wind up saving 0.06USD/kWh.

The concept of "covering" a trade is important. If for example you are in on a coin during the pump and have huge profits on a lot of tokens, if you still like the coin *nothing* is saying not to stay in the trade BUT, if you sell coins to equal the initial cost of those tokens, you are now riding that coin for free, even if it goes to zero you will have no losses. If you think you see a solid entry point later on - feel free to enter the trade. Every trade occurs in a vaccuum, do not chase losses or FOMO into pumps on trades you are already in UNLESS the follow-on action was already a part of your strategy.

Is this an "infrastructure" mining unit (network, cabling, power) or is it a "mining" unit (miners included). What sort of final costs are you looking at? I have someone looking at making an infrastructure unit, his costs were looking at 2.5 ish BTC at current prices. Currently have access to a location with very, very cheap power and as NotFuzzyWarm said - rapid deployment and easy scaleability without much physical legwork (running cables, running network, setting up routers) is a critical value-add for this kind of project.

Your assumption depends on the hypothesis that miners are actually a "pull factor": they are the first using a new "forked" chain, users will follow miners. I think that is the case, because regular and "economic" users are more "inertial" than miners, for various reasons. So actually it may really become more difficult to fork the Bitcoin chain to force it to adopt features that have no consensus in the community (like the 2MB increase) because miners won't follow a new fork that easily, as they expect to lose transaction fees. So I think that, at a general level, you are right. However, Bitcoin Cash has shown that with an additional difficulty adjustment, a forked chain can survive also with a relatively small hashrate supporting it, and then it can try to grow "in the background". But this strategy forces the "forkcoin" to adopt a different branding than Bitcoin (becoming an "altcoin") and adopting replay protection, and thus it cannot be considered really an "attack". I don't really think BCash was an attack. They were pretty upfront, adopting a new name and saying "this is the scaling solution we want because 1mb blocks aren't enough" (Obv it was Bitmain and miners that wanted the fork, not users - though I don't see a huge negative case for users). S2X is a different ballgame, trying to rebrand their fork as "true Bitcoin" , not adopting replay protection, doing all their negotiations in secret, etc. BCash was miners flexing, but not really an attack per se. |

I think people misunderstand how NH works. You are not "mining the most profitable coin" - your coin profits don't come from mining, they come from people paying you to mine for them. The reason why the algos might be disappearing is that there aren't enough buyers in the market to make it worth NH's time to keep the miner in. I think it's sleazy myself but I feel like if they're selling on the website, they should be buying on the software.

I currently have 8 Bitmain Antminers on the way and I am in the United States. Looking for some experienced miner help - currently I am planning on ordering EVGA 1600W P2 Supernova power supplies for my miners, but given that they are A) Expensive and B)More powerful than they have to be for an antminer. Are there any ideas for 120 or 240v PSUs that are cheaper and work well?

Considering that the only reason I can think of for a marketplace to maliciously place PoPRs is to give themselves review rights for a given vendor and trash their rating on the network - removing reviews on that marketplace would probably be a feature not a bug.
