1  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling 4 brand new studio condos for bitcoin in central Pattaya, Thailand on: May 30, 2017, 07:19:44 PM
Interested, looking into it. Is the price negotiable?

It's almost the price I paid -  I was financing the project while it was being built. There are a few condos for sale in the same complex, they are all by around 10% higher priced.

4 apartments are available for rent in central Pattaya, Thailand

The 4 condos are adjacent to each other, 34m2 each, luxury furnished, 50m pool with water slides, nice gym all on the premises. The location is in the heart of Pattaya. Perfect for a couple of friends staying in the same floor

3  Economy / Exchanges / Things that can happen on Localbitcoins.com on: May 29, 2017, 10:50:35 AM
A friend of mine has been selling bitcoins on localbitcoins.com for a few years without problems. He was selling mostly in Thailand, accepting bank wire transfer in exchange for bitcoins. One day his bank account was frozen and shortly after he was visited by the police in connection to a wire transfer he received. Apparently a scammer bought bitcoin from him and paid using someone else's stolen bank account.

My friend explained what had happened and was temporarily let go after paying the standard Thai bribe. The investigation was ongoing and my friend would be summoned when the time comes.

A month later my friend tried to get his bank account unfrozen and was told to wait a few minutes by the clerk at the counter. Shortly after the police showed up, taking my friend into the station for another round of questioning. Apparently there was a 'trap' set up - if the account owner shows up. So another round of the same thing, more bribe and my friend was let go again.

During the period of next several months my friend was periodically called in for questioning. He provided written explanation, screenshots of localbitcoins related pages, login details. He contacted localbitcoins.com to see if he can get some kind of written confirmation from Localbitcoins where they would confirm that this transaction actually took place through their service. They declined his request and said that if police formally requests information from them, they would oblige, otherwise no.

2 years later, the district attorney refused to drop the case and is pursuing trial which is due in september and october 2017. The complete story as my friend was able to find out from the court documents is this:

Two foreigners 'hacked' into a thai lady's phone and got access to her bank account. They wired money to my friend who is on trial as the scammer's accomplice in crime. The police got a hold of the the two foreigners but it's unknown if they were let go (bribe) or if they are in a thai jail.

When wiring money from a thai bank account, there is 2 factor authentication via sms, so the scammers had to have access to the account owner's bank password and phone. The same localbitcoins username who scammed my friend, also scammed 2 or 3 other people in the same period.

My friend made the mistake of allowing any new user to bid for his offer on localbitcoins. The amount was around 1300 USD worth at the time

The condos are adjacent to each other, 34 m2 each, luxury furnished. The condominium complex includes a 50m pool with water slides, nice gym, etc. Part of the complex is a luxury hotel so you enter the premises through their main lobby - which is nice. The location is in the heart of Pattaya. All condos are freehold in foreigner name. The price is 60K EUR per unit, equivalent in Bitcoin

Presentation video while the complex was being built: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8rvefW4kGE
This is what the condos look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5WxdrU9l_8 only in my case the kitchen is black instead of white
This is what the hotel looks like now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpJnmCyzGqA

The seller is in Europe. A law firm with offices in Austria and in Thailand would handle the sale

Any takers?

It seems to be impossible to turn of email notifications from Cryptsy. Every time a user makes a wallet to wallet transaction, cryptsy sends an email containing ALL the data - how much of which currency was sent from user's cyptsy wallet to external wallet. This effectively links an email address to cryptsy account and to the outgoing wallet.

We all know that big brother loves to collect emails. Cryptsy helps them to easily compile a database of millions of wallet addresses - link them to emails - link emails to people, thus uncovering who owns what and does business with whom.

Cryptsy why don't you:
A - give people the ability to disable email notifications if they want
B - send a little less info in the notification email - if you must

Official fundraiser for Darkcoin marketing & branding

Since Darkcoin was 0% premined, we will be doing this the old fashioned way, with a fundraiser. Many people in the community have expressed an interest in pushing our marketing effort along. We wanted to make sure the time was right, while Evan sorted out the kinks in the Darksend code. But we are nearly ready to show Darkcoin and Darksend to the world, so let's get this moving.

I will release a list of bounties for marketing & branding in the next day or so when I have a bit of spare time. For now, you may donate to the official fundraising wallet (anonymously if you like!). You can also PM me with your donation details and I'll keep some accounting, if only for the sake of making sure your donation is accounted for and spent appropriately.

As always, you are a fantastic community and we appreciate your support!

something seems to be wrong with cryptsy - at least that's what I'm seeing. I'm trying to fill a specific buy order but it's stuck in open orders, even if there is a buyer and seller agreeing on the same price. Is anyone else seeing this?

about the darksend open source dillema - how about this, the dev could put on darkcoin.io that the source will be made open once DRK reaches the price of $100 per coin. That would mean it's well established and known by then

There's no guarantee it will ever reach that price, especially if people don't trust it, if would make a laughing stock of darkcoin. It's possible to hire from private firms for a security audit of the code. These are professionals in their field and are probably held to NDAs.

still open source gives people a better "feeling" and is in line with all the crypto - from the people to the people.

A statement on the darkcoin.io site reading something along these lines: "We believe in sharing but we also believe that inovation should be rewarded. To give DRK a fair advantage over the future clones the DarkSend source will be made public once DRK reaches a market cap of X."

I think that's nothing to laugh about

Shrem put it well when he said that a crypto coin is like brotherhood. Even if you don't know the creators, don't participate in the community, didn't know about the particular coin until recently, are clueless about coding - you still put your money in and you find yourself on the same side as everybody else who has done the same. We all want the same thing and can contribute to the coin's success one way or another.

Here are some ideas that come to mind and we might want to see them come to life:

- Darkcoin paper wallet system

- Android wallet. I find "Mycelium bitcoin wallet" great because it also supports drawing money from cold storage (paper wallets). That way you can be sure your money is safe 100% until you touch it for the first time. Then if you don't trust the app, you manually make sure the remaining DRK goes back into another paper wallet. Can someone contact the Mycelium bitcoin wallet creator and see if he would be willing to create a DRK fork for us and how much he wants to be paid for it (then we chip in with donations)

- Write a pro, interesting, short and to the point text explaining everything about how DRK works and why it is different/better from the rest. Then hire a professional speaker to read out the text (create voiceover). Then make a short "documentary". Use the voiceover and add appropriate videos/images as the voice explains it. Post that on Youtube and let's spread it

- possibly modify the darkcoin.io page to include the above mentioned video

- does the darkcoin dev need any help? maybe we can get a fund going which would be used by the dev to hire a coding/crypto expert he finds amazing to help with whatever is needed

- how about putting some donations together to run a facebook ad campaign, getting people to know darkcoin (that short documentary above would come in handy as a landing page)

- let's all do some brainstorming, keep such ideas flowing, and let's not leave it at that. implementation of good ideas is a must. Anyone can lead the way - just write up your project, present it to the community, provide a donations wallet and let the people put their money in as support votes
