1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin IS Bitcoin on: August 19, 2016, 04:40:39 PM
Just apply some logic...

Not touching that stash of BTC would have only 4 feasible reasons:
-The owner lost his key.
-The owner died and took his key with him.
-It's locked behind a multi-sig and the owners had a fall out.
-The owner is not interested in money (extreme autism).

I listed them from most high to low likelihood. That is all there is to it. Price protection, "wanting bitcoin to succeed" and superhuman restraint have nothing to do with it.

Do you mean altruism?

Also, my bet is on #2, I think Satoshi is gone, RIP.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin developer offers a $10k bet to a LTC troll :) on: August 18, 2016, 04:55:44 PM

Deal. Won't be added in even 120 days  Cheesy

120 days it is then.

This deal is both ways, right? So if it does get added to GDAX within 120 days from today, then you owe me $10K in BTC?

Technically, until bitcoinlitcoinbtcltc agrees to the above, it's not really a bet.  Losh11's initial offer was just that, an offer.

I'd be willing to send you $10K in BTC if Litecoin isn't added to GDAX in the next 60 days.
Deal?

^^ Sounds like a one-way "bet" to me.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 3641694 ETC has moved from the DAO on: August 02, 2016, 05:40:24 PM
I think the probability of a harmful dump would be much higher from the original DTHs than the attacker. The attacker can't sell all that at once nor at a rapid pace without drawing attention from the exchange he is doing it on. It is also hard for him to sell OTC. This leaves selling small amounts over time to ensure he gets the most value out of it as well as avoid attention. Do you agree with my theory?

If I had a ton of coins I wanted to sell, that's what I'd do.  But the question is, how much time do we have?  Worst case scenario, the ETC price will crash and then he'll want to panic sell to get what he can.  Best case scenario, the ETC price rises, in which case the market will absorb the small amounts he sells over time.  I imagine the "hacker" is savvy enough to know how this all works, and will not risk destroying the ETC market.  If he's smart, he'll devote his efforts to strengthening and bolstering ETC, as this safeguards his wealth.
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Halving Party 2016 on: July 08, 2016, 04:44:15 PM
I'm going to buy a cake, and host a halving countdown party, we're going to count it down like a New Years celebration.  3... 2... 1... Happy Bitcoin Halving!!!

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Etherium price is decreasing day by day ? on: July 05, 2016, 10:50:06 PM
I'll clear all the FUD : Ethereum wasn't hacked at all. That was just The DAO. There is not consequence on Ethereum at all.
Then, to reply to OP, that's quite simple : the halving. That's what's draining all the altcoins for more than a month.

In markets, perception matters more than reality.  ETH is perceived as vulnerable and uncertain, and confidence is low, so people sell and the price trends down.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin Price Speculation 2016 * POLL* on: July 05, 2016, 08:27:39 PM
I voted between 0.01 and 0.02.  Hell I remember trading the ratio when it was between 0.02 and 0.03.  I feel like a lot of wind has been taken out of LTC's sails due to all the other new alts hitting the scene, but when the fanfare dies down I expect LTC will gain back what it's lost in the last couple years.  Stability and simplicity are worth more than bells and whistles.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why Etherium price is decreasing day by day ? on: July 05, 2016, 08:25:18 PM
Hard fork for Ethereum is probable, and most likely will happen by next weekend. A lot of Ether will be released back to owners. What do you think they will do with it? Sizeable number will use to buy bitcoin, so look for a bitcoin price increase along with Ether sell off. When you see a sell off in Ether with heavy volume time to buy cheap Ether. Ether price could get as low as $5 with heavy selling. There is resistance at $7 so you should consider buying to hold long term starting at $7 and buying more on way down. Or you could just wait until the charts show a bottom is in place before buying. Any way looks like good chance for Ether fire sale next weekend. Right now Ether and Bitcoin are inversely correlated.

Any "investor" that gets their ETH back as a result of this hard fork would be stupid to do anything but sell it immediately.  ETH will collapse soon after the fork is realized.

I bought in to ETH at sub $2 price, so to me I could easily see $2 or lower ETH after this.
8  Economy / Auctions / Re: ❎ 1 oz Silver/Gold Lealana on: July 05, 2016, 08:18:20 PM
I bid 0.20 BTC.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC and ETH will soon reach USD parity, and then, LTC will MOON. on: July 05, 2016, 08:16:11 PM
If you think that both LTC and ETH will soon reach USD parity, doesn't it make more sense to wait for LTC to hit $1 before buying?  Personally I don't think LTC will drop to $1, I think it's primed for a good upward trend.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thank you DAO Haxor on: June 22, 2016, 10:19:53 PM
The ramifications of the DAO/ETH hack haven't even begun to occur yet.  Wait till the fork happens or fails to happen, the child DAO matures or is overwritten, the lawsuits get filed, and the investors bail if/when they get their precious DAO ether back.  Until then, enjoy the short term ups and downs, but unless you're a day trader trying to make money on the short term moves, stay away.  Ether is not good for long term investing right now, it's far too uncertain.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin will see 10$ and above 2016 on: June 22, 2016, 10:07:53 PM
I think it's too risky to buy Litecoin at this time. New crypto-currencies offer something new but Litecoin doesn't even have any upgrades and new offerings.  It's pure speculation but I don't think it'll go over 10$ again, ever.

Upgrades and offerings are irrelevant to what makes a good currency.  Is the US Dollar or Euro a bad currency because it doesn't have any upgrades or new offerings?
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH = Game Over on: June 18, 2016, 03:13:13 PM
Here at the forums we're on top of this news and follow it closely, but the outside investment community is still learning about this, digesting it, and is yet to fully react.  ETH will definitely trend lower for the next week or so, and then at the 21 day mark when the child DAO either is released or is forcibly stopped, either way on that day those still holding their ETH will dump anew.

Even if you still believe in ETH, stay away for the next month or so until this all fleshes out.  Markets hate uncertainty, and ETH is nothing but uncertain right now.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin developers will NEVER fork to reverse transactions from theft on: June 18, 2016, 03:07:47 PM
Coblee, with Satoshi out of the picture now for a while, is the ONLY developer who truly understands the necessity of not screwing around with his coin.  Remember, the whole reason BTC/LTC work is because they are a digital approximation of physical gold and silver.  The only way they work is to ensure they mimic physical gold/silver as close as possible.  Back in the wild west, if a robber hijacked your caravan and stole your chest of coins, there was no central authority to invalidate the coins in the robber's hands and make the victim whole.  The value was inherent in the coin itself, nothing else.  If you start a precedent of voiding transactions you don't like (for whatever reason), you're removing the value from the coin and transferring the value to the central authority.  And this is why you can't do it, because in doing so you pull away from the basic necessity of crypto being a digital version of physical gold/silver.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin developers will NEVER fork to reverse transactions from theft on: June 18, 2016, 03:01:37 PM
ltc community is always ready to use some big news to show how cool and correct they are, even in this case where you cannot really compare DAO functionality with LTC

Dude that post in the OP link is over a year old.  This is not Coblee responding to the DAO fail.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Time for LTC (LITECOIN) to SHINE. on: June 18, 2016, 02:59:58 PM
If you are smart, you should be hoarding Litecoin right now.

With the roadmap to be released soon, addition to Coinbase and Gemini, Bitcoin halving nearing, and new features to be implemented, LTC, the only legit coin besides BTC, will sky-rocket like never before. $50 more than reasonable this year, especially after the ETH catastrophe !!

I think you're right, the spotlight will hit LTC again soon.  My best guess is, after the halving and BTC stabilizes roughly double what it was a couple months ago, newbs and investors without as much money will once again look to the "silver" to bitcoin gold.  No doubt LTC will shine at that time.  Not sure we'll hit $50 though.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Letter from DAO Attacker on: June 18, 2016, 02:57:22 PM
Its amazing how insecure and amateur of a project Ethereum is! They have already set the precedent that HF with a very low threshold is fine, have recently reconfirmed this and now it is being used against them.

Absolutely brutal.

Amateur hour over there!

Don't trust anyone, there's no way of knowing if this guy is the same one who authored the OP letter.  For all we know the real DAO Attacker is keeping quiet, keeping his true plans to himself.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH - Hardforked - NOT Decentralized on: June 17, 2016, 09:04:13 PM
The Etheruem developers propose a change to invalidate the hacked Ethereum. If you do not agree with them, you do not have to run the hard fork.

Sure and the HF alt created when the chain splits will be exposed to regulatory threats and will need to hire a bunch of lawyers and at the same time undermine the trust in the network. What happens when the FBI knocks on the Ethereum foundations door and asks for another soft or HF to disable or freeze assets on a naughty smart contract? Great job guys!

Exactly.  Even if done for "good" reasons today, this proves it can be done for any reason at all.  Got smart contracts the government doesn't like?  Shut it down!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH = Game Over on: June 17, 2016, 07:10:43 PM
You can also still trade your ETH on btc-e as of this post.  I had ~160 ETH, dumped them all an hour ago and bought back into BTC & LTC.  Not sure if/how ETH will recover from this.
19  Economy / Auctions / Re: ❎ 1 oz Silver/Gold Lealana - Start Bid 0.01 BTC on: November 23, 2015, 07:16:38 PM

Shocked You sure will win this one! Price for this on his site is 0.56BTC  Grin

I can't help but wonder if he/she thinks he/she's buying a funded coin.
