1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [DEVICE] SimpleRigResetter - Auto reboot crashed rigs - Extension Boards !!! on: April 11, 2019, 02:06:23 AM
My SRR arrived yesterday and it works great!  There are certainly home-brew methods do set this up a little cheaper.  However, the quality, features, and UI make this a time saver.

I still need to figure out the port forwarding capability... I've never been able to get that to work with any device.

Will try tonight.  Thank you!
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: SRBMiner Cryptonight AMD GPU Miner V1.7.2 - native algo switching on: December 07, 2018, 03:33:40 AM
I'm trying to use SRBMiner because I've heard good things about it.  But whenever I try to install Adrenalin 18.6.1 for my Vega64 the install crashes.

While connecting the monitor to CPU integrated graphics, I've erased all drivers in the C:\AMD directory (except 18.6.1), DDU'd the system while in safe mode, disconnected from the internet, and tried the install.  After clicking "Agree & Install", it circles for about 3 revolutions then crashes and reboots.  Tried all sorts of shenanigans but couldn't get past that.

Any ideas please?!

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Need simple batch restart miner when GPU not working on: February 14, 2018, 01:47:25 AM
here is the best solution, if you have a gpu that is having issues that means you've got an underlying problem somewhere which should be checked out, if you rig CANNOT RUN for 30+ days without any problems there's an issue you need to fix and its as simple as that, stop trying to use some script or little program to reboot the rig when clearly you've got a problem somewhere. the one thing everyone posted on this thread has FAILED to even mention.
a good running rig can run for months with no problems what so ever, the fact you are having issues shows there's a problem somewhere

Very true statement.

Sometimes, though, things are outside the average miner's control:  There could be an infrequent bug in the hashing algorithm; switching between algo's can make GPU's twitchy; dicey networks; etc.

All of those do require analysis to determine root cause and permanent corrective action (as you mention).  But until a person has enough time to dive into it, it's nice that the rig reboots itself to keep the mining process moving.  Now if the rig is rebooting frequently then jump on it immediately.  But if it's once a week it's not as urgent of an issue (as compared to other urgent issues... for me at least).

Do you know if it is possible to ping a Teamviewer id instead ip number ?

Because ip number can be changed, teamviewer id still the same.

I haven't tried that.  But TeamViewer does have an extensive suite of API's:  https://dl.tvcdn.de/integrate/TeamViewer_API_Documentation.pdf

Hi guys.

I want your opinion in nicehash now since they got hacked/whatever. I feel its really profitable when you can move funds freely to coinbase and then to GDAX with free withdraw. Seems like its one of the better options right now, or am i missing something?

Apart from high withdrawal fees (if not transferring to Coinbase).... its an easy and quick to sell hash power to buyers.

Which pool, which coin ... its quite tiring this chasing game... so if you want an easy way to accumulate BTC, yeah NH is a good place to be.

Yeah I'm at a point where I just throw everything at nicehash. I get slogged the full 5% fee which is annoying, but I will acquire more hash-rate to be able to mine 0.1 BTC within 4 days so that the fee is reduced to 3%.

From what I can tell, you pay 2% to nicehash wallet and to get it out of there you pay the network fee of 0.001 BTC - which probably totals 3% anyway.

I didn't know that it was free to coinbase - I will have to look into it.

Cryptonight in particular has been paying wayyy higher than ordinary XMR rates for a few weeks now. Equihash is quite strong as well.

Have you tried using Mining Pool Hub with "Autoswitch" (to automatically convert a mined coin to another... such as BTC)?  I haven't been able to do a scientific comparison, but comparing 8 days on NH to 8 days on MHP I've found MHP has a higher return and lower fees.  So I'm interested in your point of view.

Totally agree!  One way I helped with the automation on that is to have a non-mining PC that is on the same network do a ping to the miner at a specific time interval.  If the ping fails, then it sends a text to my phone and make it my decision on whether or not to re-boot via the smart plug.  (That central PC could also issue the command to the smart plug to reboot, but I figured at some point a human has to get involved).

Here's a snippet of code from that .bat

can you attach here the bat file Smiley not so practice with that Cheesy

Hope it meets your needs...

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 15, 2018, 08:17:06 PM
Believe it or not, the miner supply issue is continuing to worsen.  Not only are essentially all good mining cards gone (off retail market anyway), but now it is nearly impossible to find any mining mobo (that supports 6+ GPUs) and it's even carried over into the PSU market, where 1000-1300W PSUs typically used for mining are mostly gone.  This continues to baffle me, but I guess just goes to prove that the majority of the world still either doesn't know about or doesn't believe in the longevity of crypto. To me, this shortage seems worse than the one back in Q2'17.

The really crazy thing is not that 3rd parties are trying to price gouge (not completely against this actually, as everyone deserves a chance to make a legal buck) but it's the fact that there are a lot of people actually paying these 2x, 3x, even 4x retail prices for components.  Here are a few I have observed lately:

- 6-pack of rx 570 8gb sold on ebay for $3,400! That's close to $600/card lol, or 50% more than retail for a Vega-56 lol.
- Several USED Vega 56's selling on ebay for over $900!
- Many mining Mobo's with retail prices at or below $100 are going for over $300!

I actually ordered an Asus Prime Z270-a from Amazon for $150 but it's not in stock and no indication of when it will be in stock. I actually have another ASRock BTC board but was looking to build my next rig with an 1151 chip i got for half price. Plus, I like the the idea of easily being able to accomodate 7 GPUs with a relatively easy path to an 8th via the M2 slot.  So, end-state goal would be 7-8 1070ti/1080 with my 1500W Plat PSU. of course, I only currently have 4 70ti's but more have to come in stock eventually... don't they? ;-)

not to disagree, all sounds right, but i've got
Asus Z170-AR mobo (6 slots, not sure if you can run all six, opinions vary) at Microcenter for $79 minus $40 MIR.
It was a few weeks ago, though, before eth went crazy again.
Not the best mobo, but will do for a small built of 1070ies.
I am out of power in everything except dishwasher/dryer.

Maybe I should entice wifie to buy a double decker washer/dryer (LG or something), then I would have both space and power (220V even) to run a couple more rigs Wink

Yeah, I have heard mixed views on that Asus z170 and i dont want to risk building on a "problem" board for fear of potentially wasting many hours trying to get over 4 GPus running on it.  Plus, I am not lucky to live anywhere near a Microcenter and pretty much every decent piece of gear I've found on there... well, pretty much ever... has been limited to in-store purchase/pickup only. Makes me wonder why they even have a friggin website but whatever lol.

I am also still awaiting an electrician's assessment of my house's capabilities. I am currently running 4 rigs and based on my limited understanding and an analysis of my breaker box, pretty sure I can get a modest rig added in my garage. but that will only work until maybe June as there is no ventilation in there.

Also, if I feel confident I have enough power to add that garage rig, I might just go ahead and build it on that ASRock H81 BTC that I already have. Since I only have 4 1070ti's anyway it wouldn't make a difference and at least I could get it up and running and not have to wait for that 1151 Mobo to arrive.  If I go that route then i could eventually use the 1151 Mobo to build a 7-8x 570 rig.  Lots to think about... crazy thing is that i have partial components to build 3 rigs but not 1 would be "complete". But I think first priority is getting those 1070ti's online.

Regarding ASUS Prime Z-170AR, I haven't had any problems with 7 x 1070SC cards over the past 5 months.  I only wish it had space for one more!  It was one useless PCI rather than a PCIE slot.  But the M.2 is open to add a 7'th.

My belief is that pool switching among a small basket of altcoins using high “Est Rewards” (from a site like WhatToMine) will lead to more coins in my wallet… right?

If you are looking for "more coins", then you need to mine low difficulty coins.  Coins that hit high "Est Rewards" on Whattomine get jumped on very quickly by people looking to keep mining the latest hot coin, and the thousands of auto-switching tools out there.

Thank you puwaha.

I’m glad I could help!

I've found that the temperature falls pretty fast (within about 5-10 seconds).

I’d suggest putting a timer before automatically restarting… or some feature that allows you to stop the auto-restart.  It’s really annoying when I stop the miner for some rig maintenance, then the darn thing automatically reboots!

If you’re looking for information on how to send a text from a batch file, I found this article helpful.   https://blog.frogslayer.com/sending-an-email-through-google-smtp-via-windows-command-line/

One more thing I’ve found to help improve my uptime is the ability to reboot my rig from my phone when it’s totally hung up and I’m not home.  A device similar to “Z-Wave Plus Wireless Smart Lighting Control Appliance Module” ($40 Amazon) is very helpful!  Using that with TeamViewer on my phone really helps me monitor/control the health of my rigs.

I am hoping someone will be able to answer my question.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the weekly time investment required for an optimized rig? on: January 14, 2018, 05:36:17 PM
Excellent question.  I think the answer is directly proportional to whether or not it is a hobby and how strong your OCD is!

I'd suggest if you want the lowest time investment, point your miner to something like MiningPoolHub (or others) where you have a selection of coins, profit switching opportunities, and all wallets are in one spot (my est 1-2 hours/week to monitor/restart rig when it gets stuck and to count your money!).

The next level of time investment is setting up core wallets for specific coins... this takes a little more time to manage not just the wallets but the mining software.  (my est 2-5 hours/wk).  Other tools (like Awesome Miner) help with the mining software management and monitoring.  It takes a little time to set it up, but once you have it configured my est is 2-3 hours/wk.

I personally put in a lot more time than that because I find it fun and always find something to tweak! :-)

Here’s an alternative for you.  Install Hardware Info64 (HWiNFO).  Within that tool on the “Alerts” tab you can trigger a batch file when a sensor exceeds a boundary you define.  For instance, I have it set to send me a text message (via BLAT) whenever my GPU temperatures fall below 30c (which means they are not working).

The batch file could also trigger the “shutdown /r” command.
