1  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: September 23, 2014, 11:27:02 PM
Anyone want to sit down for story time?

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the FTC against Miner Hosting LLC and, of course, they chose to ignore the BBB. On Monday of this week I left work early to go to the magistrate court and file a small claims case. Before going to the court house I went home to let my dog out to pee. I was surprised, and kinda pissed off, when upon my arrival I found a package on at the front door from minersource containing not the refund I had requested a dozen times, but the X-1 I told them I did not want. Against my better judgement, I said to myself, "Screw it, I'm tired of dealing with them. I'll just cut my loses and mine with it until it the energy it eats costs more than the money it makes." So I went inside and opened it up. I was surprised once again to see that it was a model with an LCD touchscreen and Wifi, unlike the bare-bones version I received direct from Black Arrow two months ago. I went ahead and plugged it in and pointed it to the right pool/worker and then watched it mine. For about three minutes.

I had noticed on the browser page that it was running significantly hotter than my other one. I took a closer look at the X-1 and noticed that the fan was not spinning. Immediately, I turned it off and unplugged it. My first thought was that perhaps the fan was obstructed, so I gave a little push with a paper clip to test it. The fan seemed to spin fine so I thought I'd try it again. So I reconnected the power, the fan moved a tiny bit and stopped. There was a loud pop when the fan stopped. A few sparks and a fair amount of smoke came pouring out of the power supply. I pulled the power the minute things started to go bad, but I'm very lucky I didn't get electrocuted or burn my house down.

The person identifying himself as Thomas from minersource support offered to send me a new power supply. I told him I was not interested in receiving any Black Arrow products and I was sending this one back. I told him they have until Monday at noon to offer me reasonable restitution of one of these three options:
1) the full refund I requested several times over the last four months
2) a bitmain antminer s3+
or
3) a single BTC garden w/rPi and power adapter

Now very pissed off, I repacked the X-1 and drove to UPS and shipped it to Colorado at my own expense. I emailed Thomas the tracking information, which is more than they did for me, and told him if I hadn't heard a response from them by noon on Monday (eastern time) I would be continuing with my plan to file in small claims court.

So that's where I'm at now.

Also I have my own MS hate thread over on the scam accusations board and you're all invited to the party: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=705442.0

I just received in the mail the Prospero X-1 that I requested a refund on several times over the last several months. It showed up and I said to myself, "Son of a bitch, it's here. I may as well cut my loses and use it." So I took it inside and plugged it in. After plugging it in and setting it to the right pool/worker I noticed it was running very hot. I examined the outside of the box and noticed that the fan was not spinning. I figured, maybe it was being obstructed by something, so I disconnected it and used a paper clip to manually give the fan a little push. It spun around fine, so I figured it must be a fluke and that I should try it again. So I plugged it back in and was immediately greeted by a loud pop and a shower of sparks. I'm repackaging the device now and taking it back to UPS to refuse delivery and have it shipped back to minersource. You now owe me a full refund plus the cost of shipping it back to you. Just be thankful I'm not trying to sue you for personal endangerment.

Quick update: As of today, it appears that Bobsag has deleted my user account on Minersource.net. I am no longer able to log in to see my undelivered order. The live chat person ignores me and disconnects. I'm almost ready to buy a plane ticket to Denver....

MS sent me an email saying that my account was suspended for suspicious activity (repeatedly requesting a refund?). My account is reactivated now and I can once again see my unfulfilled orders. They still ignore me in support chat though.

Almost immediately after my last post MS sent an email saying they detected suspicious activity on my account and sent a link to reactivate it. Account is now reactivated and my order is still unfulfilled and not refunded.

Minersource has deleted my account from their website. Anyone else ask for their money back one too many times?

I'm recommending that everyone that's as pissed as I am follow these steps:
Step 1: go to https://www.facebook.com/minersource
Step 2: click the three dots next to share and select report page
Step 3: Check the scam box for your reason for reporting
Step 4: end profit of scam

OP here,
This minersource shit was causing me too much stress so i decided to take a step back for a bit and watch how things played out. Well.....things have played out poorly. Still no miner, still no refund, minersource ignored the complaints I made through the BBB and bobsag has taken to deleting any posts I make in his threads. Aside from flying to Colorado and pissing on their front door I don't know what else I can do to get their attention.

edit: Also, I filed a complaint with the FTC.

Dear Bobsag,
As an American Company you are legally bound to comply with the FTC's rules. In case you are unfamiliar with these rules and have ignored my previous emails I have taken the liberty of providing you with a quote from the FTC and a link to the source.

http://www.business.…lephone-order-merchandise-rule

"If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise."

Send me a refund.

In my last email to minersource I gave them a deadline (of tomorrow) to give me either a refund, store credit, or tracking information for a package heading to me. Should they fail at this very flexible request, a friend of mine in Denver who recently passed the BAR exam in Colorado has agreed to help me file a claim. I have personally spoken with the DA's office and they told me they had several other complaints logged against minersource already.

The phone number that was removed from there site is 1-844-646-3777, if you call it you will see that it is no longer in service.

As for the others seeking legal restitution, I believe there is another thread they started somewhere for a class action

Minersource is going the way of MtGox and folding under their own weight. Minersource was robbed by a Chinese company named Black Arrow, who promised mining machines to american customers through Minersource on a preorder basis. Americans preordered and Black Arrow under-delivered 5 months past due. In trying to obtain a refund for myself, I was informed that Minersource had sent absolutely every last bit of their money to China in exchange for miners we will likely never receive. Now, myself and a few hundred others are in the process of seeking legal action against Minersource for violating Federal Mail order fraud laws. They can't pay refunds because they sent all the money to China and they're going to have a hard time paying for a defense attorney. As of this week, the financial situation at Minersource has turned absolutely dire, they have run out of money and had to disconnect their phones. Which I'm guessing also means that they had to fire the woman that answered the phones for them.

So let this be a lesson to anyone trying to buy hardware from them in the near future. If it's not on-hand and shipping immediately, don't bother, because this company won't be around long enough to fill many more orders.

BA deleting posts left and right for pointing out cold truths?

They just like their big bro BFL.

Haha, mine got deleted for giving people a diversion from their misery. To be exact, these are the two items David has determined to be irrelevant:

Because we are all rats in BA's cage:

And because we could all use a Miracle:

Well I think I pissed David off at the official BA thread, he keeps deleting all of my posts

With modified cgminer  I cannot adjust intensity. Sad

I'm having the same issue. I can change it but it does nothing unless I go over 13, at which point my hashrate drops by 90%
