For the record, dream and I never rejected cryptsy. Scifi did.
You can dig up the old thread and see that I contacted BitJohn, Coinex, and a handful of chinese markets.

We can promote at cryptsy.
I have PR article ready, almost out.
Someone in this thread has agreed to translate and post texts in the chinese sub-forum.

Let's leave the negativity, and each do our parts.
I want to push more, but dream and I are honestly very busy right now.

I didn't reject cryptsy, i simply asked them to hold.

I think the fork is my fault indirectly.

I had a VPS running with all the coin daemons needed for the exchange. I removed them all as they were no longer needed for their intended purpose, as the VPS will be hosted elsewhere.  I should have checked before removing.  I removed it about a week ago.

Thanks for the nodes, Unfocus but sadly I still can't sync. UFC wallet stops w/ no connections about 1750 blocks to go.

I had that issue last week, had to stop, and redownload the whole chain. I had lots of issues with my old wallet, I am guessing because I had lots of POS blocks, many were orphans and rejected by other nodes.
After I got it working, I transferred all my coins to a brand new wallet. Now it works like a charm, but I have to wait 1 month if I want any POS income again. The transfer takes several small transactions because of the max block size.

I just compiled UFC at the exchange server, I got lots of connections so far:

"addr" : "99.137.226.94:59918"
"addr" : "84.200.17.249:7013"
"addr" : "50.156.4.44:37446"
"addr" : "76.175.31.202:55758"
"addr" : "75.180.60.109:58761"
"addr" : "198.199.100.216:7013"
"addr" : "173.216.0.231:63550"
"addr" : "76.175.31.202:55073"
"addr" : "77.222.105.7:50328"
"addr" : "84.193.227.97:62260"

Good luck!

The fix I found is similar for windows.   Back up the wallet.dat, keep it safe as a backup, and with the original wallet.dat you just copied from either, move it to a new directory temporarily, or rename it wallet2.dat. Delete all the other files and directories in the hidden UFC roaming folder. Then download the entire blockchain again. A new wallet.dat will be created (your wallet will be empty).   close the client after it's fully synced.  now in the delete the new (wallet.dat (the empty one)) but leave te other files intact and restore the original wallet.dat (the one you renamed or moved).  Boot up the winQT,  it will take longer than usual and say, rescanning, maybe more than once but after 15 mins. you should be good to go and your connections will hold and PoS will start as intended.

Can someone point me to details of when and how much GPL stakes?

I am unable to find it posted anywhere other than it is noted as a PoW/PoS coin in the launch post.

In GPL code:

Code:
unsigned int nStakeMinAge = 60 * 60 * 24 * 365

Does this mean that our coins have to sit for a year before they accumulate stake? Please say it isn't so...

^This... I have coins since release and no stake generated... Also, what's the word on the exchange/cryptsy?

It certainly does, but look on the bright side!  People holding on for a long time to coins, increases the value.  Also as GPU's become inefficient over time, people may choose to mine a scrypt-jane coin as a "second" coin on a mining machine.

I see it like this... 1 PC running SHA_256 Asic (that needs a host machine), scrypt GPU and scrypt-jane CPU all at the same time.  It possible and is a way to make mining more efficient.

you could mine,  Cubits or Bitcoin, UFC or Litecoin and GPL or YAcoin all on the same PC at the same time.

But in answer to the original question,  yes it's a long time to wait I know, but it will decrease coin availability.

Yep it's 365 for the first pos blocks to appear.  Designed to make people save and buy.

Jonoiv,

Here is probably the tool you need to recover that 4700 GPL!

Dreamwatcher,

I'd like to publicly ask you to proceed with KED relaunch. I am absolutely sure sure that Scifi would understand. He was going to clone UFC while you are working from a much more fresh source tree. Not to mention that we still need to deal with the exchange process of the old KED to the new.

I really hope that you'd find some solution to what you are going through.

+1

Dreamwatcher's code is probably more 110% better and more thorough, I have not even got to the stage of compiling successfully and dreamwatcher's KED is as far as I know in final testing.  There is no point even thinking about it.

what's the word on the exchange/cryptsy?

"VERY soon"tm   Grin Grin Grin

Yes, unfortunately, I'm only as good as other peoples word.   Roll Eyes

BitJohn said the coins would be looked into when they have completed the data center move, and that they want to support them.  The data center move was completed a while ago, and I have sent him a message about week ago.  As yet he has not replied, maybe they are just very busy.

I do not know if they intend to support the coins any longer, but I will re message bitJohn and ask again.  As for our exchange, unfocus is working on it, but bear in mind he has a full time job and a personal life.

We (me, dreamwatcher and unfocus) are looking at other possibilities at present.   Shad3dOne has setup a development room on his forum.  we will be posting there with updates and plans to move forward.

As for KED the code is almost ready for the relaunch.  Dreamwatcher and unfocus would like to relaunch sooner rather than later, but I wanted to take my time.  I personally don't see any reason to rush on the relaunch, but I do see their point that to delay too long will be harmful.

the UFC website will be up and running by the weekend, with links to pools, forum, downloads, block-explorer.  and The GPL site soon after.

I just want to say I think converting KED into a Quark clone is about the worst thing to do...QRK has almost the lowest value in Cryptsy's BTC market and I think KED would follow suit if it is remade as such.

I've come to the same conclusion.

After careful thought, and looking at the poll (some people seem to have changed their vote).
16 for Quark and 15 for Scrypt (pos+pow).  if we add the non pow scrypt votes we have 19 for scrypt in total.  So KED the "next generation" will be scrypt after all.

I think based on the news, there may well be scrypt based hardware soon it would lend to a more stable future.  If specialist hardware does get released then it will really support the coin a lot more than a CPU based coin ever could.

How about Blake-256?

There is currently only one coin using it, Blakecoin (BLC).  It has a CPU, GPU, and FPGA miner.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=306894.0

Maybe it's only used by 1 coin for a reason.  But thanks for the suggestion.

Is that Ron Jeremy as your avatar ?

Hello Trek fans.

An update regarding all things star-trek.

1.  At the moment we are talking with guys from cryptsy regarding implementation.  They are interested but I can't give anyone a gaurente or a timescale.

2.  the scificoin exchange, is coming along all though this won't be ready anytime soon, but there is definite progress.

3.  We are still undecided on what algorithm for the KED relaunch.  The poll favors Quark. but the SHA and Scrypt votes are watered down.  We may add a second poll, with the top SHA vs top Scrypt vs quark clone.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 20, 2013, 11:31:39 PM
Ok,

It has been decided to go with Dreamwatchers plan for the KED relaunch.

Dreamwatcher will also be handling the redistribution of the coins.  This should be fairly simple, and should run smoothly and will be 100% fair.

Everyone needs to keep their old KED wallet for the time being as it will be needed to claim your coins from the KED "the next generation"

we will keep the coin 3.5 per block and 1 minute blocks with 0 TX fee.  but we will reduce the total coins.

2 things will happen now.

1.  I will launch a poll to see what algo people want.  SHA256, Scrypt etc....VOTE ASAP, voting will close in 7 days.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=315220.0

2.  Soon we will launch a design competition for the coin icons and logo.  The prize/s will be paid for from the 1st superblock.

Then when he coin is ready it will be given to dreamwatcher and we will launch at a prearranged time.

I have no problem with the restart, but I don't think 100k coins will be enough.  I have 10251.50 KED and I mine with a total of around ~950kh/s, so there have to be larger wallets than mine out there...

Yes sorry, a typo on my part, I meant 100k blocks not coins.  Cool
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 20, 2013, 12:00:03 AM
So it looks like Darsek problem will not resolve it'self and even if all the PoS blocks were to have matured, and PoW was flowing again I think it will only be a matter of time before the next issue.

I want to go ahead with a cash in & relaunch KED the second coming.

The easiest way would be to start a thread, on the forum www.scificointalk.com where people can stake a claim to their share of the first super-block.

Can someone start this thread for me please and link back here.   In the thread I need users to post their main/first wallet address, the amount of coins, your preference for the new KED...  reward, fees, Block time, total coins, algo (Scrypt/Sha256d/S-jane) etc.

So we will work on a new coin with 100,000 super-block  80,000 to be distributed to the current KED owners and 20,000 for a Logo competition.

If anyone has a strong objection to this let me know ASAP.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 18, 2013, 05:45:12 PM
@ Dreamwatcher.

1.  Thank You for all your help and support, you truly are the main reason for the success of these coins.  I think I speak for everyone when I say this.

2.  I had already considered the hard fork option, but like you pointed out the dev time needed is high, and most importantly there is no guarantee of success.

3.  I personally want to do a relaunch and give coins back in the amount, that they have currently been mined.  I want a block of 100,000 to devide and the remainder used for a design competition.  To redesign the darsek logos, so that it truly is distinguishable from the original.

4.  If we do go down this route, It would be good to know if the ked explorer http://ked.cryptocoinexplorer.com/  can be used to see all wallet balances.  People would stake their claim on the forum (we could use the new www.scificointalk.com *thanks to Shad3dOne*) to each balance and I will manually payout at launch.  Unclaimed balances will remain for  1 or 2 months and then if unclaimed we can give them away.    We *could* do it by people sending in their current coins, but we are running out of PoS blocks to process the transactions, so best to do it the way I suggested.

Maybe we will need to have a poll, to determine what people want from the new coin.  What algorythm? what style? base58 starting letter, total coins, block target time, TX comment needed?  TX fees?  Maybe to make it indivisible like pennies or some other Ideas.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 18, 2013, 02:37:19 PM

I may be wrong.

And I think i probably am.  I am reading about Cosmoscoin, the coin that KED was cloned from.  It looks like it may have been a bad choice.  The PoS code was taken from the earlier version of novacoin,    and may have some inbuilt PoS problems, that do not exist on UFC or GPL.

One possible solution that I have thought of, would be to have a cash in..

If we were to relaunch the coin we could do block 1 as a super block (80,000 - 100,000) and divide the coinage between the current Darsek contributors.

We could create a new coin, without the stratum issue.  we could even make it Sha256, or some other algorithm.

Just an idea.   I think it's less pain then any other possibilities at the moment.  As we have a small close knit group it would be a lot easier for us.  What do people think?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 18, 2013, 01:26:28 PM
Question about PoS: Is there a way to make PoS consume multiple txouts, or is it only possible to stake one at a time?

AFAIK.  It depends on how the coins arrived at that wallet, as the PoS is purley based on time or blocks passed since generation.  So for example blocks that were originally solo mined will stake one at a time, but if you get 1000, in one lump from a pool it will stake as one block in the future.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] StarTrek insipred coins =) and mining links (Low Diff) Nice Bounties! on: October 18, 2013, 12:20:21 PM
Ok guys so the reason for the Darsek problem is quite simple from what I seem to be seeing, and as you may have gathered I have nowhere near the level of understanding of the complexities as Dreamwatcher does.  However, this is not a problem in the code as such but more of a circumstantial issue.

The daemons and QTs that have long term static coins are crashing and taking up a vast amount of resources. This is also probably the reason Dreamwatcher has problems with the darsek pool daemon.   The stake blocks are a big issue on resources especially as some of you have vast amounts of coins.

The long term solution (if you still want to store vast amounts of coins) is to either move them around, or store them on a client that is always on and not in cold storage, this will take a lot of processing power if you have a large amount of coins.

In the future this should, in theory become less of an issue as the coins with have more liquidity and as a result less PoS blocks with a stronger network.

The reason we are seeing problems now is because many people will have re-synced old wallets after the new clients were released.  the PoS blocks are all bottle-necking the network as they have been stored up for a long time.  Now all this info is being forced onto the chain.

Like  Shad3dOne has suggested the only fix now is to move your coins along to completely new client (wallet.dat) .

You may find that moving them is a pain, but keep trying and you will get there.

I may be wrong.

IN LIGHT OF THE ISSUES WITH KED, FOR 24 HOURS (UNTIL 10-17 20:35 UTC) SINCE BLOCK 81660, I WILL COVER THE INABILITY TO MINE POW COINS IN THE POOL OUT OF POCKET.

I will pay the miners  as if the pool were mining 75% of the KED blocks (around what has been normal). 3.5 KED @ 60 blocks per hour = 210 per hour * 75% = 157.50 per hour

If the Darsek development team has not fixed the issue by (10-17 20:25 UTC), I will need to consider shutting off the pool or extending the offer.

Payout will occur about a day after everything has been settled, as I will have to do the calculations by hand, so I only want to do them once  Tongue

I am going to extend this offer for another 24 hours.

After this extension I will need help if I am to extend it longer. As of now it will cost me 3,780 KED per day, but I want to keep interest up in the coin.

Basically I will pay out of pocket, all the shares that go into solving the next POW block in the pool. We are over 118,225 shares at present, so if the client/daemon were repaired now and the pool found a block, each share would be worth 3780/118,225 ~ 0.03197 KED.

This means miners who continue to mine at the pool will get paid pretty much as if everything was working (As was laid out in the original offer), once the next POW block is mined (Client/Daemon fixed)

I will send you the 10000 premine seen as It is not being used for anything.  as soon as this sorted out.   At the moment I'm drawing blanks.

Opened my KED wallet with modest balance and had a POS block roll in and crashed it  Undecided

yeah..Stake blocks are the only ones barely getting thru....Work blocks are being rejected.

Issue is being worked on.

Looks like the same problem with COL and Maples.

Do you have any info or links for this as I can't find anything.
